How sweet is this photo?

Clémence is one of my favorite French actresses,

but I think I love her sense of style more than anything.

I love the way she's styled for this photo,

especially the pretty bike avec hat boxes.

(Don't worry, that's all the French I'll attempt for today.)

There are just so many lovely covers out for spring this year.

funeral song

This can be a fairly morbid subject, depending on how you look at it.

But since today is a blackout day, protesting the SOPA,

I figured I can dive in to a dark subject.

My whole life, everyone in my family had their "funeral song" picked out.

I.e. the song you feel best represents your life and what you want played at your funeral.

My grandmother wanted "My Way" by Frank Sinatra,

my dad chose "Many Rivers to Cross" by Jimmy Cliff

and my mom chose "Shower the People You Love With Love" by James Taylor.

When I was little I chose "Bye Bye Baby" by Franki Valli and the Four Seasons

(and just about lost it when it was a character's funeral song in the movie Love Actually.)

At some point during adulthood, I added "Cosmic Dancer" by T. Rex,

because I felt it suited my life much, much better.

But hell, it's my funeral, I can have two songs, right?

So my question to you, blog friend, is

what song would you choose?

Oh no. As much as I tried to avoid yearning for spring, it's happened.

And all thanks to this spread in Vogue Australia's February 2012 issue.

I'm already looking forward to sunny days so we can all wear ladylike

dresses and crisp white frocks. The countdown is on,

but spring certainly can't get here soon enough.

and will always be a huge part of the soundtrack of my life.

2012 is here! Thank you to

everyone who have made Milk a part of their life in 2011.

I'm so ready for a fresh start and to get cracking on my resolutions.

So here's my final goal for 2012 and beyond:

Resolution #5: Take. More. Pictures.

This is actually a goal of mine every day, but I haven't

made photography a priority in quite a while. I don't

think photography is like riding a bike; you can't just

ignore your camera for months on end and then pick it right back up

with the same skill and talent you had before. At least, that's how it

always is for me. I need practice and perseverance to take quality

photos consistently. 2012 is all about getting out and taking more photos,

because in my heart, I know it makes me truly happy.

Countdown to 2012: Resolution #4

Resolution #4: Be more active.

Living a sedentary life can be rather depressing. I think people

who get out more and live an active life are generally happier people.

In 2011 I found myself working extremely long hours,

then coming home and falling asleep on the couch watching

30 Rock. I felt a little down in the dumps throughout the year, but it never

occurred to me that I needed to make a big lifestyle change.

Now is the perfect time to make that change and start seeking out

ways to stay off the couch. More outings with the mister, more

walking the dog, more bike riding, etc.

So tell me, blog friends, what's your favorite activity

that doesn't involve the couch or the television?

Countdown to 2012: Resolution #3

Resolution #3: Fix up my Beetle.

Have I ever mentioned that I'm restoring a 1970 VW Beetle?

It's been a project my dad and I have been working on for well over

a year and it's been on the back burner for far too long.

2012 is going to be the year my baby finally gets on

the road. My goal is to not only get it pretty and running, but

to also document the progress on Milk. Fashion, design, photography,

and now automotive preservation. The randomness just doesn't stop on

this blog, folks.

P.S. My Beetle's name is Geronimo Jack.

Yes, I'm one of those people who name their cars.

Countdown to 2012: Resolution #2

Why is it so difficult to blog on vacation?

I'm already behind on my resolutions,

so I'll have to double up over the next few days.

Resolution #2: Show my loved ones how much I love them.

This might sound like a simple task, but it's so easy to

take our family and friends for granted. I tend to shy away from

showing emotion or conveying affection,

but in 2012 I want to change that for good.

I want to do nice things for people, I want my actions

to speak louder than my words, and more than anything,

I want my nearest and dearest to feel appreciated and loved.

Hello blog friends! I'm writing to you from lovely

upstate New York, where the mister and I are celebrating the holidays

with my in-laws. I hope you all had a wonderful

Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Festivus/Sunday

this weekend!

Every year, ever since I was little I've written out

resolutions for the new year. I don't always follow through

with all of them, but I love the idea of starting fresh, turning over new

leaves, and working on bettering ourselves. So I thought this year I'd

share a few with you throughout the week.

Resolution #1: Eliminate the word 'hate' from my vocabulary.

I throw around this word way too much. I only want to perpetuate love and

acceptance, and saying I hate this and that doesn't accomplish anything.

My hope is that by not putting the word out there, the feeling itself will

soon evaporate in to oblivion. Who's with me?

Christmas tree next year. He looked at me, bewildered, and said

"I don't think I've ever seen a pink Christmas tree before!"

So I'm posting this incredibly fun photo because I know the mister

Around this time of year, I start missing my bike.

It's pretty cold in the mornings, and my nose freezes off

after ten minutes so I usually stick to driving.

Like many of you, this time of year makes me

crave glittery, girly things. I firmly believe that a

resemblance to a disco ball is nothing to be ashamed of.

Last year I wore a sequined mini to a big NYE party and

a few ladies sat in the corner making snarky comments about me,

the "bouncing disco ball." I just smiled wide and said, "thanks, girls!"

If you're gonna sparkle, you have to own it, right?
