We stayed in the most gorgeous Swedish summerhouse. It couldn't have been more perfect with its mix of old and new furnishings, natural wood and linens. Surrounded by luscious greenery, Maisie and Bertie were able to explore and roam about freely. We spent every evening out on the deck, eating dinner, absorbing the views and watching the late sunsets. Such a relaxing place. The most rested and contented I have felt in a very long time!

If you're interested, I found the cabin through Airbnb and would recommend it to anyone! It is very reasonably priced too. Find out more here.

Sweden

Hello, I hope you are all well - I do wonder if there is anyone still out there reading my neglected blog! Anyway, our little family of four recently had the most wonderful holiday on the island of Tjorn in Sweden, so I wanted to share a few pictures. Quite possibly the most beautiful part of the world I have visited so far.... We were so lucky to have blue skies and warm sunshine all week, plus being out of season, there were hardly any humans around (my kind of place!).

In other news, we have now moved house and are no longer Londoners. We're back in Exeter, setting up our new home a studio for Seventy Tree and preparing for our fifth family member in September!

The Nursery - Tim Coulson's Workshop

Hello, I'm just popping in quickly to tell you about a very special workshop that's taking place in London on June 19th. Many of you, I am sure, will be familiar with Tim Coulson's wonderful photography, so if you are fairly local to London, or even in the UK (it's definitely worth traveling to) do consider taking part as I believe there are a few places left. I know a couple of you bloggy people have already enrolled, and I am hoping to get there myself.....

Anyway, so what's it all about? Here's what Tim has to say - - -

"Teaching has become a big part of what I do. Last year I ran twelve workshops and I'm pretty sure that I learnt more than the beautiful people who came to learn from me. I love these workshops. I have faith in them and their ability to help you become a better photographer."

The Nursery is a single day photography workshop that finds and fosters the creative photographer within all of us. The workshop is tailored for amateur and beginner photographers and focuses on:
1. Emotional shooting: learning how to connect with your subject.
2. Technical shooting: understanding the principles of creating your own exposure through shooting on manual.
3. Live shoot: using your new skill set and a chance to shoot one on one with me.
4. Workflow: learning what to do with your images once you get home (culling, editing, exporting for web/print, archiving).
You'll need a DSLR to attend. The workshop runs for one day, from 10am - 4:30pm and is being offered on either a Friday or Saturday. The London workshop will be run on a Wednesday. Workshops are limited to twelve attendees.

Sounds amazing I think!

So that's all for now - I am in the process of moving house again. We're going back to Devon, where we have a new studio for Seventy Tree and my husband will be coming on board to work with me too - hoorah! But first, we're spending a much needed week in Sweden (Yay!).

Lately.......

Hello friendlies. It's been a while - we've been busy. I've been working. Alot.

It has been constantly cold.

Bertie has a new cheesy smile face.

We spent Easter weekend in Norfolk, which was lovely (that's the view from the grubby steam train window you see there).

Dan has been wearing his nice yellow jumper.

My trays are now in my shop.
I've booked us a holiday to Sweden (the island of Tjorn) and I can't wait!

We're making more life changing (ish - not that exciting!) plans.

Oh, and speaking of life - I'm expecting a baby in case you didn't already know from Instagram/Facebook. Due in September, hooray!

At The Chapel

Hello folks, hope you're all keeping better than I am! Still not so tip-top over here, extremely busy work-wise and feeling guilty for not being able to keep up with the Project 52 portrait series (hmph) On a jollier note........

Here are a few pictures from a very special 24 hours the husband and I spent together a couple of weeks back. For Christmas, my present to Dan was a night away with dinner at a beautiful converted chapel in Bruton, Somerset, called At The Chapel. I really cannot recommend it highly enough. The room was gorgeous; huge bed with lots of puffy pillows - oh so comfortable and enormous windows with views over the village rooftops, the bathroom; so luxurious, the food; delicious! Everything was perfect. They even delivered freshly-baked-in-the-wood-oven croissants to our door in the morning.

It was the first night we'd spent alone in over three years (however, I still barely slept a wink without my Bertie - him kicking and head buttng me all night must be more welcome than I thought :-/ !). This aside, it still felt very relaxing and it was so nice to be on our own together for a change!

If you get a chance to go there - you must!

Bertie’s Birthday

Today is Bertie’s Birthday and I was very happy to give him one of my favourite Lucky Boy Sunday characters this morning, Danny Blue! Hooray! I think there’s a bit of double gift-giving when it comes to Lucky Boy Sunday as I am pretty obsessed with everything they do myself!

He has had a great day so far - lots of dinosaur related gifts, plenty of cake, his Gran (my mum) is staying and he’s seen his other grandparents and great gran too! Later on, we’re going out for burgers. Good day :)

I can’t believe he is Three!

Five Years

Today my husband and I have been married for five whole years and tomorrow is Bertie’s third Birthday - time really does fly!

I’m a lucky lady receiving anniversary Marimekko Converse trainers - plus I’m ignoring the dull January weather and pretending it’s spring, hence the daffodils.

Winter Fun

Happy new week!

As you may have noticed, London has been hit with a reasonable amount of snow over the past few days. Unfortunately, Bertie hasn’t been too well, so we’ve been stuck indoors watching it through the window. Yesterday however, he was a lot better, so was able to venture into the garden and help daddy build a small snowman.

Having lost one of his mittens during the week, Dan made him a make-shift one from a sock and a sandwich bag - pretty good eh? (!) Well, it did the job......

Most frustratingly, my son has become almost impossible to photograph - moving/scuttling about so quickly and there is no time in his schedule for photography (hence the incredibly fake ‘cheese’ face you see there - I was very lucky to get that!).

I will add, that this poor snowman lasted approximately seven minutes before Bertie became ‘The Hulk’ and bashed him to the ground with his sock hand! Hmmmm.......

Hello Marine Une Pomme

I discovered Hello Marine recently when we were mooching around the very lovely shop, Nook in Stoke Newington. I spotted the red apple print and told my husband I really wanted to buy it, but he wouldn’t let me as we have so many prints and not enough wall space (hmph!).

Aaaanyway, I have since come across the Hello Marine website and seen there is a black apple version too - which of course I love and it has rocketed to the top of my wish list! Such wonderful screen prints! Have a look in the Hello Marine shop for more lovely prints. She has an Etsy shop too where you can find a tote bag to match! Tempting!

Happy New Year to you all - I hope this year will bring everything you wish for!

One of my goals this year is to get back into blogging again and rekindle my love of taking pictures with a ‘proper’ camera (not my phone). I have two new cameras (they both have their purposes) in the hope of achieving this - so far so good! Just need to learn to use them properly - bedtime manual reading *yawn*

Anyway, here’s a couple of Mr Bertie from a day out yesterday.

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for all your kind efforts! Your tweets, blog posts, emails and Facebook support have resulted in The Jany removing the stolen designs from their site! Woohoo!

It looks like they will be removing other artist’s work too, so I think for now, this is an amazing result - although a close eye shall still be kept.....I too received the email which many of you received. It sounds like they received hundreds! Wow, I am so very grateful to you all!

I will keep you posted on any further outcome, but for now - I’m going to have a celebratory cup of tea and a mince pie - Cheers!

Good Monday to you all - I hope you enjoyed your weekends! Autumn is well and truly here, dark mornings, dark afternoons, crisp orange and brown leaves underfoot, extra cardigans on top of cardigans.....etc. I like it!

Anyway, here’s a lovely home (found here) that’s inspiring me right now - - we’re thinking of moving out of our small flat and finding somewhere bigger. Sadly it won’t be anything as lovely as this, but still....

Lots of decisions to be made here, so my mind is very full (when isn’t it?!)

Hello, I hope you’re all doing good? I thought I’d share a few of my Etsy favourites with you today. I adore this bear mask from Kiss Me Go (on vacation at the moment, but keep an eye out for their return). Bertie is really getting into dressing up and imaginary play now, so this would be great for him - his first word was ‘bear’ too!

Next up, this plate. I discovered the shop There Is Always Room For Emptiness recently and love their collection of hand painted tableware.

Very sweet little hand embroidered bear by Savannah May of Sleepy King. I’m a long time fan of her designs.

I have been meaning to point you in the direction of this shop for a while. These delightful little clothes are a selection of my favourites from online childrens-wear shop, Little Vintage.

Hello friends. It has been a while, I know - I hope one day I’ll be able to blog a bit more regularly - lots going on behind the scenes here - homewares, life changes, looking for a studio etc etc - all good though!

I’ve started blogging for Ikea Family Live alongside my blog - my first post is now up, and you can see it here. There will be a post every month or two from me over there. Very happy to be on board :)

I’m still very much on Instagram (@seventytree) - I guess it’s more ‘instant' and fits in with my current life situation. So if you want to see what I’m up to - or what I’m eating (I can tell you’re desperate to see ;) ) head over there. Garden Party/Thank you

Hello and happy new week!

Thank you so much for all of your kind comments of late. I have felt so supported, and it really means a lot to read your lovely words :)

My exhibition launch went really well with a great turn out. I was of course terrified that no one would show up, but fortunately people did - great to meet some new faces too :) Thank you for all your good luck wishes! The exhibition will be up for 6 weeks, until the 28th of October, so if you get a chance to stop by and have a look......pleased do! There are some new pieces of work on display and if I do say so myself, it actually looks pretty darn good all together and framed ;)

Aaaanyway, On Saturday, a little girl in the building we live in had a Birthday tea party in the garden. We have a very large communal garden, surrounded by trees here, so it’s so nice to see our children making the most of the space. The garden was decorated with bunting and balloons, a new house for small folk to play in and we also have a swing hanging from a tree (a recent addition), which the grown ups are rather enjoying too!
