I am working on the update to my first book ZBrush Character Creation on a relatively tight schedule. I need assistance in managing all the new images I am creating for the manuscript. This isn't much work, mainly just renaming a few tiff files and tweaking labels in a word doc. The person who helps will get a firsthand look at the new book and a small financial compensation.

This is a part time internship kind of position suitable for a student or beginning artist. Send me an email at scott@scottspencer.com with internship in the subject field for more info.

Thanks!
Scott

Customize the ZBrush right click menu

I had a request to show how you can customize the Zbrush right click menu, sometimes called the "quick menu." This video explains the custom UI process as well as assigning hotkeys and setting up your Wacom preferences.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSf6MKzBV9M

My friend Paul Gaboury has another video on the topic of custom menus seen here

I hope you find these helpful!

Scott

Undocumented ZBrush Features Part 1

So here is a neat little something Pixologic threw into the new 3.5B release and didn't tell anyone about : ) There is a new gesture based navigation system in development for ZBrush. Right now it is in its early stages but still fun to use.

To zoom into a part of your model hold shift and draw the stylus pen back and forth over a small area of the model without touching down on the tablet. ZBrush will zoom into this point.

To zoom out hold shift and make a circular motion, again without touching the pen to the tablet.

To rotate around Z press shift, left click and hold on the canvas, then release shift and drag the mouse / pen. This rotates around the current axis of view which has always been a tricky rotation to get in ZBrush!

A cool trick, especially since it saves you a keypress or two. I'm interested in seeing how this develops into version 4.0

Scott

Timelapse Werewolf sculpting sessions - ZBrush

I was poking around 3D world's website and I found the video files and ZTools for my issue 113 tutorial on sculpting a werewolf. John Brown has a new 2 DVD set on sculpting creature and character busts at 1/4 scale. I got this from John a few days ago and it really rocks. He covers making quick silicone block molds- pouring up clay copies, and sculpting in facial expression studies. There is even a section on using photoshop to design paint schemes.

This is a great addition to his instructional DVD series.
