2019 WAEC GCE Result has been released. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2019 GCE Results (January/Feb)

This is to inform the general public and especially, candidates that participated in the 2019 August/September West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE for Private Candidates (WAEC GCE) that their results are now available online and it is accessible from the WAEC official website.

How to Check WAEC GCE Result.

Go to WAEC result checking portal www.waecdirect.org.
Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789)
Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2018
Select the Type of Examination i.e. PRIVATE CANDIDATE RESULT
Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.
Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card
Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up

Are you preparing to write the 2019/2020 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates? If yes, we are delighted to inform you that the timetable for the exam has been official released and we have published the 2019 WAEC timetable below for Nigerian candidates. However, the general subjects are applicable to The Gambia, Liberia, Ghana and Sierra-Leone candidates.

Important Notes:

1. The difference in Time on Question Paper and Timetable: Where the duration indicated on the question paper differs from that on the timetable, the one on the question paper should be followed.
2. Question Papers to be Given Out in Advance of the Dates They Are to be Taken:
(i) Visual Art 3;

Paper 3A – Instructions will be given to schools two weeks before the paper is due to be taken.
Paper 3B – Question paper sill be given to candidates two weeks before it is due to be taken.
Paper 3C – Candidates will be required to execute their projects within six months of the examination year. The period of submission of art pieces will be communicated to schools by the Council.

(ii) General Knowledge-In-Art Paper 3; The question paper for General Knowledge-In-Art 3 will be given to candidates two weeks before the paper is due to be taken.
(iii) Block Laying, Bricklaying and Concrete Works 3 (Practical); Question paper will be given to candidates three days before the paper is due to be taken.
(iv) Project Work Papers; The question papers for project work for Basketry, Graphic Design, Leatherwork, Ceramics, Sculpture, Picture Making, Textiles, Jewellery, Painting & Decoration, Dyeing & Bleaching and Leather Goods Manufacturing & Repair will be forwarded to candidates two weeks in advance of the examination. The exact date for the delivery of question papers to candidates will be communicated to them through their schools.

Kogi State University (KSU) Admission List 2018/2019 Is Out | Check

KSU admission list is out. The Kogi State University, KSU admission list for the 2018/2019 academic session is out. Right now, the KSU list is only available for checking on JAMB portal. It is not yet available on KSU admission list-checking portal.

Candidates who chose Kogi State University, Anyingba and took part in the 2018 Pre-admission/Post UTME screening of the institution should take note.

As said earlier, the admission list of Kogi State University is being uploaded to the KSU admission portal.

Go to KSU Admission Status checking website at http://portal.kogistateuniversity.edu.ng/Admissionlist.
Select the Academic Session i.e 2018/2019
Finally, click on “View List” to see the names of successfully admitted candidates.

If you have been offered admission,accept or decline it on JAMB CAPS portal here

Admitted candidates are to login to the student portal (http://www.portal.kogistateuniversity.edu.ng/Login) using their UTME Registration number as username and “password” as password to print their admission letters.
Alternatively, follow the guide below to access the admission list on JAMB admission portal and find out if you have been offered admission.

Firstly, go to jamb.org.ng/efacility
Login with your username and password.
Scroll down and click ‘Check Admission Status‘.
Select your Exam year and then enter your registration number in the required fields.
Finally, click on ‘Check Admission Status‘ to view your 2018/2019 KSU admission status.

2019 WAEC GCE Registration Form (First Series) Instructions and Guideline

WAEC GCE registration for 2019 has commenced . The 2019 WAEC GCE registration form for first series (January/February) WASSCE (Private) exams is out on sale.

The WASSCE for Private Candidates. 2019 First Series will be an urban based examination. Nineteen subjects will be available for the examination. Intending candidates for the examination are strongly advised to visit the Council’s corporate website www.waecnigeria.org to confirm available examination towns and subjects before obtaining the registration PIN.

To avoid unnecessary mistakes during registration, the West African Examinations Council released GCE registration guideline for candidates. Candidates are encouraged to follow these set instructions and guidelines to enable a problem-free online registration.

Candidates are expected to pay a registration fee of Thirteen Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty Naira (N13,950) only, at branches of any of the following banks or any accredited agent and obtain the Registration PIN and Information VCD:

CANDIDATES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: Candidates with special needs will also register online like other candidates but they must dearly state their disabilities e.g blind, low vision, spastic, speech, etc.

COMPLETION OF REGISTRATION: Candidates MUST conclude registration within two weeks of first access to the website during the registration period. They should ensure that their names, gender, passport photographs, dates of birth and subjects are correct. They are also to print the Admission Notice/Photo Card as evidence of successful registration which will serve as identification during the examination. The Result Checker PIN will also be on the Photo Card. Only Digital Personal Scanner should be used for fingerprint registration.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Candidates should view the Information VCD before they register for the examination.
Candidates should note that registration fee is not refundable.
Candidates should print the examination Timetable at the completion of their registration.
Entries must be uploaded with good quality passport size photographs, not “wait and get” photographs. The background of such photographs MUST NOT BE BLUE OR RED. The size should be 275 by 314 pixels. Entries with unacceptable passport photographs will be rejected.
Candidates should study the Regulations and Syllabuses as well as the Timetable for the examination which they can download from WAEC website https://www.waeconline.org.ng/ using the Registration PIN.
Candidates must go to examination halls in mufti and without arms. No professional uniform of any kind will be allowed in the examination halls.
The entire results of candidates who sit the examination in more than one centre will be cancelled.
Smoking is not allowed in the examination hall.
Any candidate that comes into the examination hall with mobile phone(s) and /or electronic gadget(s) will have his or her entire results cancelled.
Candidates must ensure that their entries are correctly completed before uploading as the Council will not be held responsible for errors in candidates’ particulars. Request for correction will NOT BE entertained on any information which a candidate voluntarily gives at the point of registration as soon as the examination commences.
Candidates must come into the examination hall with their original Photo Cards.
Candidates who engage in examination malpractice will not only have their results cancelled, but may be prosecuted..

Registration forms for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, commence today Thursday, January 10, 2019 and sales of forms will last for six weeks

How Much Is JAMB 2019 Form?

The form for JAMB 2019 registration has been reduced from ₦5,000 to ₦3,500 by the Federal Government, and the registration fee for foreign students has also been slashed from more than $100 to $20 — that’s over 80% reduction.

Below is a breakdown of the costs of the JAMB 2019 form:

JAMB 2019 registration form: ₦3,500
JAMB CBT 2019 Registration fee: ₦700
JAMB 2019 reading text: ₦500

Total: ₦4,700

The documents required to be filled include:

Personal e-mail address and mobile phone number
Create your JAMB profile.
JAMB ePIN registration payment
Visit any accredited CBT centers with your personal details, the profile and evidence of payment.
The CBT centers or JAMB State Office, supplies, at no extra cost, the prescribed reading text and the CD containing:

a) e-brochure showing guidelines on admission detailing list of tertiary institutions and available programmes of study.
Note: Your first choice can be a University, Polytechnics/Monotechnics, College of Education, Innovation Enterprise Institutes, NDA (Nigerian Defence Academy), or Nigeria Police Academy. Also, you are allowed to select Universities Federal or State as your first and second choices respectively.
b) Syllabus (e-syllabus) for the examination.
c) Step by step guide on completion of the application form.
d) A video messages from the Registrar of JAMB and a demo on how to use eight (8) keys for UTME examination without mouse. (For candidates with little familiarity with Computers).
vii. Each Candidate is to complete the online application form by supplying the required details such as name, e-mail address, L.G.A., academic qualification, etc.
viii. At the CBT centers, Candidate’s ten fingers biometric and image will be captured and uploaded.
ix. O/L and/or A/L grades are to be provided by candidates. Candidates who are awaiting result should supply the result online as soon as the results are available on JAMB’s portal.
x. Each Candidate is to collect his e-slip at the end of registration as evidence of registration.

There will be no offline registration, as all the accredited CBT centers have been empowered for real life online registration.

Note: No candidate should register at any centers other than the accredited CBT centers and JAMB State office. JAMB has stated that any candidate that is registered outside these approved centers will be identified and disqualified.

Recommended Novel for JAMB 2019

The recommended novels for this year’s UTME are “Sweet Sixteen” for UTME candidates and “The Last Days at Forcados High School” for DE candidates. As said earlier, you’re to pay ₦500only to obtain the reading text.

When Is JAMB 2019 Examination?

According to Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head, Media, & Information, the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2019 is billed to commence on Saturday, March 16, and registrations are scheduled to start tomorrow in over 700 accredited CBT centers across the country. You needn’t stew over the possibility of the soon-to-commence general elections disrupting the conduct of UTME, as all elections would have ended by then.

ASUU strike: Prime cause of educational decadence

It has been over two weeks since the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embark on an indefinite strike and yet nothing meaningful has come out of their meeting with the government concerning the strike. ASUU at its NEC meeting of 3rd and 4th November, 2018, at the FUTA, resolved to resume the national wide strike action it suspended in September, 2017 and yet nothing tangible has been done to avert the situation.
Reacting to this, the National President of the ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi said all entreaties made to the Federal Government to honour the agreement with the union fell on deaf ears and they had no other alternative but to commence the strike action. This is sad news as the strike compels students to stay away from the school activities.

This is a sad turn of event as most students are praying fervently for the Federal Government to fulfill their promise to ASUU so as the strike could be called off soonest as they were preparing for their examination and some universities were already writing examination before the commencement of the strike.

While interacting with some students concerning the ongoing strike, Salmat Abdulwaheed, an M.Sc student in the Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University, Kano expresses her worry when she said that “this strike has really disorganised my plans. Personally, my plan was to do with my internal defence before the end of this year but as it is now, I am not sure whether the internal defence will hold this year. But why would the Federal Government renege on their agreement when they have the money? I am pleading with the Federal Government to settle ASUU so that we can go back to school”.

There is no gainsaying to acknowledge the efforts tabled by the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and that of the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige towards seeing that the strike is called off. However, I must confess that their effort is not yielding any good since ASUU and the Federal Government have not reached an agreement. They should do more by ensuring that the demands of ASUU is met in the shortest time as this will redeem their image in the sight of the students and also print their names in the sands of time.

University Of Ibadan Ranked Among Best 1000 in the world

The University was ranked 801 along with several others. UI is therefore the only Nigerian University on the list.

This inclusion was made by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (AWRU) and the Center for World Universities Ranking (CWUR). These organizations had released a list of top 500 and 100 in 2016, but no Nigerian University was presented then.

CWUR said that Nigerian universities were not considered for the ranking earlier because of lack of quality research.

AWRU, who did not give a reason for Nigeria’s absence, made it clear that the criteria for ranking were the number of alumni and staff publishing journals in Nature and Science, number of alumni and staff winning Nobel prizes and Field medals.

South Africa and Egypt had the highest number of universities on the list from the continent.

National Diploma, Mass Communication

The programme is of four semesters (Two Academic Sessions) duration for Full Time students and Six Semester (Three Academic Sessions) for Part Time students.

Admission Requirements

Five Credit passes in the WAEC or NECO Senior Secondary Certificate Examination or its equivalent in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
Students’ enrolment and admission is through (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). At the end of the course, successful candidates are awarded National Diploma.

Higher National Diploma

FG Approves The Establishment Of Army University in Borno State

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the establishement of a new Nigerian Army University.

This approval follows the presentation of a memo by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu to the FEC.

Mr Adamu while disclosing this to newsmen after the meeting which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, stated that the University will be located in Biu, Borno State.

It was gathered that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.- Gen. Tukur Buratai, had in June 2017, said the army had reached out to the National Universities Commission to secure approval for the university.

He explained that the university was being designed as a unique and specialised institution that would serve as solutions centre, especially to specific challenges facing the military and North East region

Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has disclosed that Over 1 Million Candidates Scored Above 100

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has disclosed that at least 1, 178,665 candidates scored 100 and above in the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

He further revelaed that out of 1,840,225 candidates who wrote the examination, only 800,000 had the five credits ordinary level (O’ level) minimum requirements.

He said: “There are 767 tertiary higher institutions in Nigeria and about 560,168 candidates have been admitted. About 20 per cent of the candidates are in SS2, they only took JAMB for trials.”

The JAMB registrar however stated that the involvement of parents in examination malpractice remains a major challenge for the Board as most parents can go to any length to ensure their children pass the examination at all cost. He pointed out cases of parents paying huge amount of money into fraudulent account in order to pave way for their wards.

JAMB 2018 Change Of Course, Institution And Data Correction

The JAMB change of course and institution for 2018 has begun. The board has directed all candidates who wish to change their course/ institution to proceed to the board’s site and follow the procedure as displayed.

The process is currently ongoing and costs N2, 500 only and can only be processed online, just like every other process of the board.

All candidates who wish to effect changes on either their course institution or their bio-data can proceed to do so at the closest JAMB CBT accredited centre.

You can also correct your Bio-data which include your name, date of birth, gender, State and Local Government of origin.

Before you proceed to do that, please make sure you do the following;

-Be sure of the Course/Institution you would like to make changes. Verify if the course is available in the school using the JAMB Brochure.

-Ensure verify that the school you are changing to does not usually have a cut off mark higher than your score.

- Ensure you select a Course/Institution that is in line with your subject combination to avoid being screened out during your school's admission screening exercise.

Process Flow

Step 1- Log into your jamb profile
Step 2- open the menu tab on your jamb profile
Step 3- Click Register, under register a drop box will appear showing UTME correction of data
Step 4- Click it and follow the steps to pay either online or bank. You can make your payment online via JAMB portal. If you are having difficulties doing that, you can pay to the bank. Step 6- After paying N2500 at the bank plus additional bank charge of N100 naira, proceed to either the closest JAMB office or a JAMB accredited centre to complete the process. An additional fee will be charged for the service.

Note: You can carry out all of the above process at an accredited centre.

Also note the following;

- You can change one or all your courses/institutions at the same time.

- Once the form is submitted, you can no longer make any changes again except for change of course and institution that can be done twice.

-There may be a limited number of schools or courses you can change to, so be sure to have 3 or 4 options, just in case the one you want to change to is not available.

- The cost for the change of course and Data correction is N2,500.

- You can use the one time payment of N2, 500 to change your institution, course, name, date of birth, State and Local Government of origin.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The minimum entry requirements for admission into Landmark University are credit passes in 5 subjects at the SSCE/GCE O’ Level/NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects passed must include English Language, Mathematics and other subjects relevant to the proposed course of study.

Jamb Begins The Sale of 2017/18 Direct Entry Form

JAMB Direct Entry is mainly for those that already possess a diploma certificate and wishes to go for a degree programme in the university. Normally, those who gained admission into the university via direct entry will start from part 2 or 200 level in their university of choice provided they were offered admission.

JAMB 2017 DE forms are currently on sale, interested and qualified individuals can now go ahead to obtain their form.

All applicants must possess either of the diploma certificates listed below:
Cambridge A Level, B Sc, HND, ICAN, ND, NCE, OND, JUPEB and IJMB.

All the holders of the diploma certificates listed above would be admitted provided they pass the direct entry examination and possesses the institution requirements.

Read all the registration instructions and details at the JAMB de portal before filling the online form. If You have a good smart phone that can read PDF files, Try and download the Direct Entry Registration Template and fill before filling the form online.

Only submit recent passports of yours that is not older than 3 months and it must not exceed 15 Kilo Bytes (KB) in JPEG format.
Bonus tip: Make sure you know the minimum requirements of your University of choice. As of last year, so many DE candidates wasted their money as they do not possess the minimum requirement of the institution they applied for.

JAMB DIRECT ENTRY REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS.

A minimum of ﬁve (5) GCE/WASCE credits at not more than two sittings with at least two Principal or Advanced level C.E. and the others.
Two passes at the IJMB Advanced Level Examination, Cambridge moderated Schools of Basic Studies Terminal Examination, JUPEB or Institute of Baccalaureate from recognised institutions with SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalent in three other subjects (SUBJECT TO UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS).

Passes in two major subjects in the NCE with S.C.E., NTC/NBC credits or equivalents in THREE other subjects (mainly for Education Courses) and ND. Education may be accepted as a third A’ Level subject for those taking courses in Education.
Minimum of lower credit grade in National Diploma or National Innovation Diploma including the O’Level requirements.
Candidates are to note that they will be required to provide their JAMB registration number which they used in gaining admission to NCE, Diploma etc for Direct Entry admission.

HOW TO APPLY FOR 2017 JAMB DIRECT ENTRY.
