SanDisk and Toshiba World's Smallest NAND

We know that SanDisk and Toshiba have already teamed up together to make 64 GB, 2-bits-per-cell (X2) based monolithic chip on 19nm technology, which both of these companies claim is the smallest and most advanced memory process tech node in planet. And this memory will be in mass production about in second half of 2011. At that time, SanDisk will also add 3-cits-per-cel (X3) products fabricated with the 19nm process technology to its product lineup.

Both of two companies really happy because they can produce the smallest and lowest-cost NAND flash chip based on industry-leading 19nm process technology in our ongoing collaboration with our partner Toshiba. And when you know, that actually this news come a day after Intel and Micron announched its 20nm process. What a great start.

Intel makes a Revolutionary 22nm Technology

Wow! Intel once again makes a new penetration to their new 22nm process. They promise that on their new 22nm process processor will bring new technology and the latest feature. Intel's CEO Paul Otellini attracted some interest during yesterday's earnings conference call when he told analysts that the next generation of 22 nm of processors will feature a "revolutionary" process technology.

They also confident that this revolutionary on 22nm process will win the competition across all segment of computing. However, the CEO told Citigroup's Glen Yeung, that he really can't discuss the features and he would have to wait until the analyst day event in May. Just to make sure for the consumers that they really serious about this, Intel highlighted that it dramatically increased its capital expenditures and R&D spending up to $10.2 billion this year. And that’s why they really confident that someday it could be a big steps from Intel over the next 24 months.

And not stop till that one, Intel also want increase their development by doing a research for 14nm process and it’s the one effort to keep its rivals at a distance and cash in on its process technology advantage. Intel also noted that the first smartphone by Medfield will build in 32nm and it only takes 12 months. At 22nm desktop processor will ‘intercept’ the smartphone processor roadmap tablet/phone processor will move to 22 nm as well. For the first Intel 22 nm processors it will be launched about in Q4 of this year.

Both of this company makes an agreement to significantly expand and strengthen their strategic relationship by furthering aligning their respective ownership, investments and key technologies. By this agreement we're really want a big contribution so the product can be in a good performance, in a low price and good quality. And the major elements of agreement are:

Samsung combining its hard disk drive (HDD) operations into Seagate
Extending and enhancing the existing patent cross-license agreement between the companies
A NAND flash memory supply agreement under which Samsung will provide Seagate with its market-leading semiconductor products for use in Seagate’s enterprise solid state drives (SSDs), solid state hybrid drives and other products
A disk drive supply agreement under which Seagate will supply disk drives to Samsung for PCs, notebooks and consumer electronics
Expanded cooperation between the companies to co-develop enterprise storage solutions

Intel will present Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 interface directly

Intel recently said that they will support both of this interface (Thunderbolt from MacBook Pro new revision and also USB 3.0). USB 3.0 that will implement in next time will support the previous version USB.

Intel also said that both of them will be “complementary” technology. Intel do this after AMD do a big splash by announcing that their 2 kind of APU will directly support USB 3.0 so it means that manufacturer motherboard not need again for special controller using USB 3.0 and of course it will cut down the price.

Endorsement of USB 3.0 be sure for their new processor that is for Ivy Bridge only, in the other hand Sandy Bridge cannot enjoy the USB 3.0 port as well, because it still need special controller from motherboard to support USB 3.0.

Three days ago I’m not posting anything yet, it’s because I’m a little bit busy this day. And now let me post an article about TV Tuner. On my earlier post it’s already show you that Gigabyte and MSI have take the lead by introducing their Intel Sandy Bridge socket 1155. And now it’s time for ASUS to show off by launching their lovely product P8P67 PRO which support LGA1155.

And looking for the market, that B2 having a trouble and the consumer now have their new motherboard because of this kind of problem. But, in the other hand ASUS finally show of in the market by launching their mid-end range motherboard. Even in mid-end range this motherboard above the average than the other. Want see further info about this motherboard?

We can see that even in mid-end range it support USB 3.0, new digital DIGI+ VRM 12 phase power design, 4 ports SATA 3 GB/s and four ports SATA 6 GB/s, three PCIe x16,. 2-way SLI and CrossFireX support, onboard Bluetooth module, Intel Gigabyte LAN controller, 8-channel HD audio codec, futuristic EFI BIOS, and redesigned AI suite II software package, the PRO version comes with just about every feature we would want in motherboard.

And now let’s get down to business. In this design ASUS try to evacuate something new, which is combining Northbridge and Southbridge in to a single chip design so it can add some space to the other.

Sandy Bridge LGA 1155 motherboard use “Cougar Point” 6-series chipsets of which the P67 board will target upper end of the spectrum when the others like H67 and Q7 will be destined for slightly entry-level.

For the link (Platform Controller Hub) it still use the new generation. So, it can double the bandwidth from 2 GB/s to 4 GB/s. It’s because it use four lanes in each direction which can operate faster than past generation.

And the most useful feature and it’s one of many advantages that we can get from this motherboard is that P67 Express series board will have their own ability to support full range of overclocking and unlocking capability for Sandy Bridge processors. This motherboard also allows some extension to support and increase their graphics performance.

While board partners want adds some basic OC options into the BIOS of certain low-end product, Intel seem to be pushing to choose K-series tu push their owh processors to the limit of speed/core clock.

As we see above that this motherboard absolutely above the mid-range level but in mid range price. It’s so good innovation that ASUS do to their beloved consumer. And we can conclude that ASUS Pro edition is definitely outfitted with just about anything you want on a motherboard.

And for the price it will be sold about USD $200 it’s really id-range motherboard. But if you want spend much more budget you can add about 20 bucks and you’ll get P8P67 EVO model. But for the specification about the EVO series it don’t really clear, if we think wisely the Pro edition actually in a good performance.

Intel introduce new comer 22nm NAND Flash Technology

Intel almost always stay in front in all technology. They can compete in computer hardware, tablet, and also for smartphone they don’t want lose too. Intel Corporation and Micron Technology Inc. has already announced that both of then introduced new NAND Flash 22nm process technology. This new 20nm process can produce up to 8-gigabyte multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash device, providing a high capacity, small form factor storage for saving all data such as music, document, file, database, picture etc.

This NAND Flash measures 118mm² and enables a 30 to 40 percent of reduction form. This can be useful and can add more extra space for the other things such as larger screen, larger camera and larger facilities. The most important here is when there’s an extra space it can used to add more battery form, so the lifetime of the battery to serve the phone or etc can increase well.

This NAND flash will be in mass production about in a half of 2011. This NAND flash also will come up with bigger amount of data that is 16 GB up to 128 GB. So we just need to wait and see what Intel can do for this kind of sector.

So, for the final thoughts we as the consumer of their market really expect this NAND flash will have much larger amount of data and also has cheap price. And we also expect it will have better performance than SSD even in low cost.

Taking AMD GPU Folding to the Next Level?

Some of you may remember when Folding@Home was still in its infancy, the first GPU client was introduced. Believe it or not that first (and even second) GPU client only supported ATI graphics cards with compatibility for NVIDIA’s CUDA being added much later.

Unfortunately, due to the Brooke programming language used in previous generations of AMD GPUs, they consistently took a back seat to NVIDIA’s CUDA supporting clients. GeForce graphics cards soon became the de facto kings of the Folding world but with the introduction of AMD graphics cores which support OpenCL, things may be about to change.

A few weeks ago, Stanford introduced the new Core 16 Project 11293 work units which are specifically tailored towards OpenCL-supporting AMD graphics cards and are available through the GPU3 V7 Client open beta program. In theory, this new project should represent just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the future of AMD’s OpenCL GPU Folding@Home performance but being supported by a beta client means there are a few small hoops to jump through. As such, the any GPUs prior to the HD 5000 series can't process these new WUs and there is a limitation whereby the AMD video decoder can’t be used alongside this new client.

The beta V7 GPU3 client isn’t something many of you will be accustomed to since it discards the usual interface for a design that’s a bit more icon-filled. On the positive side it brings all of the console commands to a user interface that’s user friendly but for many F@H users, certain commands can’t be utilized like they used to. Most importantly, this applies to the important –advmethods flag that must be used to receive AMD’s new P11293 WUs.

One of the most important things to remember here is that since their 11.2 release, AMD has been including their APP SDK within their standard driver installation package. This means once installation is complete, any HD 5000-series and prior GPU should be ready to begin folding. Just make sure you download and install the necessary APP components from within the chosen Catalyst package.

So now that we’ve done that, let’s jump straight to performance numbers. We used a very basic system with a stock i5 750 and 4GB of memory for these results and took the average of four completed WUs for each average result.

Before we go on it should be noted that our older Core 11 results were really all over the place so averages were a bit hard to glean from the numbers received. With that being said, with or without absolutely spot-on PPD numbers for the older WUs the results speak for themselves: the beta OpenCL project has done absolute wonders for AMD’s PPD across the HD 5000 and HD 6000 series of graphics cards. In every case we are seeing a near doubling of overall folding performance which is impressive to say the least.

While things look quite rosy all around, performance seems to scale in a linear fashion based on the number of Stream Processors on a given card and the graphics engine’s clock speeds. For example the HD 6870 has 1120 cores and a clock speed of 900Mhz so it can hang with a 1440 SP, 725Mhz HD 5850. Meanwhile, the 1600 core HD 5870 edges out the 1536 SP HD 6970. There also wasn’t much of a difference between identical cards sporting different memory configurations. As the new Core 16 projects mature, we’ll surely see things change a bit but for the time being it seems like the older AMD cards are more than holding their own.

There are some additional points which we should mention that may have a bearing on how some people will look at this new offering from the Stanford team. Much like other AMD clients and projects, this one seems to eat up excess CPU cycles and eats up a good amount of memory as well. The toll on system resources amounts to about 25% CPU usagea memory footprint of about 400MB. Hopefully this will be addressed with future releases but most modern systems should be able to take this kind of hit in stride and still be able to offer a lag-free multimedia experience. on a quad core processor and

When it comes to power consumption, if you absolutely have to fold with an AMD card the older HD 5870 with its 1600 cores currently looks like a good bet from a PPD / watt perspective. However, due to their sky-high PPD numbers when compared to the AMD cards, there are still several lower end NVIDIA products that will be much more appealing as dedicated folders.

So there you have it; the new AMD Core 16 project seems to do wonders for AMD’s Folding@Home performance. Currently there is only a single project making the rounds but there are surely more in the pipeline and what we’ve seen so far is only the first step down a very long road.

The overall PPD increase we saw was certainly impressive but when put into context against NVIDIA’s current crop of GPUs (the relatively inexpensive GTX 560 Ti sports PPD values of 14,000 to 16,000) there’s obviously a long way to go before parity is achieved. Nonetheless, with a single project the Stanford team has breathed new life into AMD folding rigs. Let’s hope that more OpenCL-based projects continue to tap the once-hidden power of AMD’s GPUs because our first taste of the potential lying behind the scenes promises big things in the future.

AMD make new innovation again and again to beat their rival Intel. They’re really serious about their new 32nm processor to stay in battle with Intel Sandy Bridge. They are also confident that they can follow or take a lead to Intel. But, they’re not only focusing their new processor for desktop but also for laptops in mainstream-level.

This new chips, codenamed Llano, are targeted to top and mainstream laptops and desktops, which will be priced at $499. AMD’s last fresh chip was in May last year, when AMD launched new dual-, triple- and quad-core processors.

Of course, we are as the consumer very excited and happy about Llano coming to market. Llano is the future of all processor. Why? Because it combine / integrated the CPU and GPU on one chip, which can help laptops deliver faster application and graphic performance even though in less power.

Llano chips will be the first processor from AMD that use 32nm manufacturing process. This improvement will help reducing power consumption. And it’s exactly Llano chips will compete against Intel’s Sandy Bridge microprocessors, which all of us know it also combined a CPU and GPU on a single chip.

It’s been really tight between Intel and AMD in the high-end level of processor. Intel take first lead by introducing 32nm build process. Meanwhile, the archrival AMD is planning to carry on that legacy to the next level.

AMD manufacturers announced their laptops and desktops 32nm A-sereies chips. The product will be launched to the consumer in the first half of 2011. For very first time, AMD launch their 32nm system and its look like an achievement for AMD.

Intel equipped their 32nm build process with Core i3, i5, and i7 in Westmere Family. Experts like Dan Olds said that AMD has good opportunities to capitalize on it. Surely, AMD joined later the group of manufacturers bringing out the 32nm build process. We can see that AMD actually in good condition and really awesome. So, it will be definitely good news for technology lovers especially in computer hardware.

Charles King, Pund-IT analyst said that because AMD collaboration with Llano future appears better. We can’t doubt that Llano is better terms of the feature and performance of the GPU chips. It recycles its AMD Phenom II products and target the low cost PC market. Tentatively, in outer market AMD has no opportunity of attaining supremacy. Nevertheless, AMD is doing their job better and better with GPU trimming year by year. In the other hand, Intel is doing their best card with help from latest technology and working on its robust graphic features.

AMD is already little behind by their rival Intel by developing its 22nm process. Even though they have chance to lead ahead by releasing 22nm process, AMD still focus on their Fusion processors. In term of graphics and server chips AMD is having a slight edge.

AMD takes on Nvidia in a mobile battle

We know in last year in 2010 Nvidia shows up their Nvidia Tegra to market. And it combined with such kind of great tablet like Android, iPhone, iPad etc. Nvidia Tegra give so much improvements especially in device graphic.

Nvidia dominate that device in market in several years. But, now AMD look the chance and has already recruit Android engineers. MSI marketing its latest tablet PC built using AMD’s Brazos APUs and the fact that such beast exist indicates that AMD’s APUs have increased their presence in the PC tablet market.

AMD is reportedly recruiting talent to developot of Android driver software – that mean it could offer notebook and tablet PC partners chipsets that support Android at later date, the source noted.

In the other hand, Nvidia not only providing GPU into a phone, but in certain time Nvidia also will probably control dual-core device market. AMD has a lot of ground to make up if it wants to catch up.

Cedar Trail from Intel to go ahead Intel’s Oak Trail

Intel Atom platform, codenamed Oak Trail is already success in the market to fulfill consumer need and Intel also claimed it has racked up over 35 innovative tablet and hybrid designs from multiples companies, including Evolve III, Fujitsu Limited, Lenovo and etc.

In the future, Intel convince to consumer that they will give a sneak peak of it’s next-gen, 322nm platform, codenamed Cedar Trail. It will help to enable a new gen of fanless, cool and quite, sleek and innovative netbook, entry-level desktop, or even a smartphone.

Cedar Trail will have some feature improvements in graphic capabilities, Blue-Ray 2.0 support, a dedicated media engine for full 1080p playback, and additional digital display HDMI output, and Display Port. And the other features is that they will include Intel Wireless Music, Intel Wireless Display, PC Sync, and Fast Boot.

And Intel also said that they will launch their new product in mid-range of 2011. So, just wait and see how this shows it abilities.

Most in my earlier post show you how those big companies run and stay in challenge eash other in enthusiast-level graphic cards.
