Unclothed woman was a favourite subject of John Godward after he had acquired mastery over the art of painting.
JOHN GODWARD: Painting Women Unclothed and semi-clothed
Author: NAVAL LANGA
John William Godward (1861 – 1922) was a British painter. When we look at the collection of his paintings, we would not miss noticing the neoclassical costumes. The women in his painting would wear these costumes and the artists would paint it with precision, keeping the particular era in mind.
Among his painting s there are masterpieces that depict women in their natural beauty. Unclothed woman was a favourite subject of John Godward after he had acquired mastery over the art of painting. In his painting we can see influence of the paintings of Lord Frederick Leighton. One of the worth mentioning paintings done by Godward is The Tepidarium.
Tapidarium is a bathing place where the floor or the walls get heating. It was customary in ancient Rome to enjoy bathing in such a tepidarium. I t was system of taking a warm bath. Many artists have taken this subject for painting. One painting by the master artist Lawrence Alma Tadema was also based on this theme.
If we look at the painting Tepidarium by Godward, we can see that he has shown more than the ancient bathing system. Like other unclothed or semi-clothed women painted by him, in this art piece a fully unclothed woman seems coming out of her bath. The vibrant red colour used to enhance the sensual element of the women figure has done its job. There has been a trend to paint classical themes during late Victorian period. Subjects chosen by John Godward reflect the influence of that trend. For that reason he is named as one of the great Victorian Neo-classicist artists.
For reading more about Godward and seeing his paintings, please visit the following links.
WOMEN BY GODWARD
PAINTING CLOTH-LESS FEMALE
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/visual-art-articles/john-godward-painting-women-unclothed-and-semiclothed-2212054.html
About the AuthorI write SHORT STORIES and articles ABOUT PAINTING.

Modigiliani

In the early 20th century, Italian born painter and sculptor Amedeo Clemente Modigliani, created unusual and distinctive art. He was both a painter and sculptor and though extremely productive, a life of disease and despair left him impoverished and dead at an early age. The beauty and inspiration of his work lives on in a few fascinating artworks.
Unusual Art: Modigiliani Sculpture A Fusing Of Styles
Author: Vance Lassiter
Recently, my wife and I had to choose a house warming gift for friends but we were utterly out of ideas. Once they'd given us a quaich, a Scottish symbol of everlasting friendship, so I felt we should get something more special than a greeting card. Our friends are an extraordinary couple you just can't classify easily. They are surely clever, witty and true individuals and considering they were moving in to a new house, I finally decided a decorative object would be appropriate, but what to choose? My own taste runs to things from the ancient world, such as Roman art and Greek sculpture . I spent days in search of something remarkable, a present that had a story behind it, but Aphrodite didn't seem to be appropriate, an Alexander bust was something I knew our friends already had and Hippocrates might have been well suited for a physician, but not for an IT professional married to a lawyer. What I wanted was something the same but also, like my friends, completely different.Ultimately, I decided on a Modigliani sculpture, an elongated female head bust statue that was really different from the classical sculpture I'd considered, but somehow precisely the same. Classic yet primitive at the same time, Modigliani art is clearly influenced by African Masks and Polynesian sculpture, smooth and curved whilst prolonged and angular, it is the contradiction which makes the sculpture so unique.Modigliani's story is a heartbreaking one. Born in 1884, his ability for painting was obvious from his childhood, but his life was destroyed by tuberculosis. His mother made sure he had the best teaching, and he was very well respected by his art teacher, even though he designed his own personal style that has more in keeping with the angular Art Deco movement yet to come then the curvaceous Art Nouveau, a style still fashionable. Like countless now renowned artists Modigliani was remarkably unknown in his own lifetime. He generated an enormous quantity of work, oftentimes as much as one hundred paintings per day, however on most occasions he gave these to close friends or girlfriends that did not keep them. It seems as if he understood his life would be short, and possibly as a result of that, he latched onto drugs and alcohol, to the point where many said his one of a kind style was credited entirely to hashish, however it was obviously not true. He was a follower of Nietzsche and Baudelaire and came to the conclusion genuine creativity involved dysfunction and defiance. At some point in his career he demolished many of his earlier works as he found them far inferior. As time passed, his well being grew even worse. He was refused for army service in the First World War and continued to reside in Paris, not knowing if the next payment of his allowance would arrive. He was good looking and affable and women liked him, but even though he was able to sell a few art works in the course of his lifetime, he never made any money from them.Modigliani passed away quite penniless, from meningitis, his bedding discolored with oil from a sardine can, the only thing he had left to eat. As always, there was a woman involved. Much more youthful than Modigliani and on the day he perished almost 9 months pregnant with their second child. After his death her family members took her home and the girl went backwards out of a window, killing herself and the unborn baby. The tales about Modigliani's lifetime are filled with contradiction. Some have attempted to imply that the girl, Jeanne Hebuterne was merely one more passing fad for the artist, however their daughter's analysis confirmed she was a painter in her own right. The woman's figurines had been shown for the very first time in an exhibition in 2000.As for the Modigliani art we chose, the statue itself is elongated and abstract depiction of a woman's head that is both soft yet striking. We don't find out who she is meant to be; there isn't any story to tell unless it's one we concoct on our own.
As for the statue, no distinct type of furnishing or style is required. The Modigliani bust would be welcome in just about any room in any home. It's sure to catch the eye and start a conversation with its unusual angles and unidentifiable origin. From the prominent place our friends chose to display it, I'm confident we made the right choice.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/art-articles/unusual-art-modigiliani-sculpture-a-fusing-of-styles-2100996.html
About the AuthorThinking of decorating your home with the perfect spot online to find a huge selection of ancient art? Valerie Kent Maybe you always wanted to be more creative and paint like a pro, taking a brush to paper as easily as a wave of your hand. You imagined yourself making the brush tip dance and leap over the paper and where it lands the most beautiful, colorful images take shape. You can almost hear a whoosh of air from the people watching you in awe, surprised, delighted by what you are doing. A silent applause and bravos in people’s eyes! What lies between the thought and the deed? The answer is simple. Take the first step and make the first step count. Take a course to get started. Why am I not suggesting just a book, or a DVD, an on-line course or magazine, an art magazine which does a step by step with you? Of course these are wonderful additions which will help you greatly after you get your feet wet and you have a more intimate knowledge of the basics. Never underestimate your own abilities or how fast you can acquire the skills you need. If you have ever looked at anything in your life: a vibrant sunset in a myriad of colors, a lady bug, the light dappling leaves and on a trunk of a tree , a violet path at dusk curving into the distance, a red winged blackbird or a soaring hawk against a sharp blue sky you have already started your learning and have the tools you need, starting with the ability to observe your world. In fact, as you create more, you will be more aware of the world around you and be able to appreciate the beauty of life and nature just that much more. It will be just that bit sharper and poignant. So you take the first step. You register and finally the first day comes and you walk into the classroom. There is your instructor, a real human being who knows what you want to know, right there in the room. It is not difficult now to visualize yourself doing what the person is doing. As you watch the demonstrations you will be able to ask questions or listen to others asking questions and then try painting yourself. Not only that. As you try it out for yourself you will have the benefit of asking for and getting feedback and guidance as you go through the process. Another plus is that there will be others there also doing it. You too can provide feedback. It will be appreciated. You learn as much from your fellow travelers on the road to creativity as you will from your own journey. Plus, there will be support and encouragement. Never underestimate the value of belonging to a group of learners all striving to accomplish something special. It will give you the motivation to return week after week to the task, maybe tired from a day of work, or children, or a myriad of other things. There are also invaluable health benefits to derive from being creative. Painting is a right-brained activity that helps you zap that stress right out of your life. You may walk into that class tired, but you will leave refreshed, uplifted, and excited. As you paint every trouble and sorrow will be painting away into the work you are doing. The painting process will bring you joy. You may wonder if you will measure up to the others in the class, or if the teacher will find your painting adequate. Actually, the act of creating, the act of painting, is not like that at all. It is not a competition. You have no one to please. There are no painting police. There is no single way to do a work of art. There are as many ways of doing art as there are stars in the sky and grains of sand on a beach. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to make a mistake. In fact, that word does not exist in art vocabulary. It is all in the process, in the making of an artwork that will give you all the rewards you need. The adoration of family members, friends and fans is secondary to what it offers you, the gift of creating something with your own hands, emotions, heart and soul.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/art-articles/how-to-be-more-creative-1695339.html
About the Author:
Valerie Kent is a long time artist painting in many media. Now paintings and art can be marketed around the globe effortlessly.
An exciting way to promote and sell your art
Author: nigel bellis
I have begun the new year by launching a new and unique service for artists. VideoforArt.com aims to solve the frustration of artists everywhere by presenting their work in stand alone virtual presentations designed for the internet. I got the idea because I am an artist myself, and talk to others. The lucky few manage to own their own galleries. Others persuade owners to display a handful of their creations, while the vast majority have few outlets to display their work. VideoforArt.com offers the chance to (online at least) display your work as though you are a high end gallery. What does that mean? Well this is how it works.... Artists simply send good quality JPG photos of their works and then chose a style of presentation and music to go with it. So for instance at the basic level you can select to have your paintings displayed on pristine black or white backgrounds, with full graphical information to the side which might include the name, size, medium, and price. A futuristic creator can select the "futuristic" display, which includes displaying your art in a space station, or inside a computer, or in other space age ways. Another issue often facing a buyer is "what will the artwork I'm interested in actually look like hanging on a wall in my home or office?" Our "Locations" package solves that dilemma, by displaying the art in cool locations such as a townhouse apartment, or a range of fancy corporate offices.\ If you want a real eye-catching "display" to get a lot of interest then how about the "fire" package? Here, using the latest technology, your art can appear and disappear in a sea of flames. Stunning! There are other benefits to of ordering such a promotional showcase. Here your art video stands alone. There are some large and popular art sites out there, but as an artist you are simply one of hundreds or even thousands listed on the site. We can also zoom right in and track across the image, so a potential buyer can see all the detail of the brush work. But never forget the power of 24/7 marketing. Your showcase can be uploaded to numerous sites and be effectively "selling" your work to a global audience non stop every day. I strive for quality in all my work, and my aim is to provide future clients of VideoforArt.com with show reels that display their paintings and drawings in the perfect setting. In addition we also provide HD quality DVD's of the show case, which provide even more detail than can be achieved on the web. They are great promotional tools to hand out at exhibitions and to gallery owners. So check out VideoforArt.com and see why I'm so excited about providing this service for artists.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/art-articles/an-exciting-way-to-promote-and-sell-your-art-1656690.html
About the Author:
Nigel Bellis is a seasoned British TV Producer, Director, Soundtrack Composer and artist currently living in New York.

make own beats

Are you trying to make your own beats online? There's many ways to go about it, I'll talk about all of them. Let's get started
How to: Make Your Own Beats Online
Author: John Paul Jones
So you want to start to make your own beats online? There are a number of different ways to go about making your own beats online. Why make beats online instead of offline? Well if you are not experienced in making beats you will want to start making beats online for a number of reasons. These reasons include the price or investment to start, the steepness of the learning curve, and the community support you get by making your own beats online . The first point, the investment to start making your own beats online. If yo u know anything about the desktop music production software market, you'll know it gets very expensive very quickly. Even the crappiest most bottom of the line desktop programs are hard to find under $200. With online beat makers, while you can mess around for free, you can be making studio quality beats for less than $30. For example, membership to the website Sonic Producer is only $29 . The next point is the steepness of the learning curve. Most desktop beat making software is very technically dense, and there are so many options available that you get analysis paralysis and don't know how to even lay down a basic beat. With an online beat maker like Sonic Producer, they strip the features down to the basics, everything a beginner needs to start making your own beats online: 16 track sequencer, 8 dj pads, piano sets, mp3 export capability, instrument support, a huge preset beat loop and sample library, and that's just the sequencer, membership includes a whole lot more than that. That brings me to the next point, community support. Most beat making software doesn't actively try to increase your beat making skills. When you sign up with a membership at Sonic Producer, you not only get their world-renowned beat maker... you get access to an enormous library of knowledge at your finger tips. They give you access to thousands of video tutorials on everything from how to use their software to how to set up recording sessions with an external keyboard. This all time classic painting by the artists displays a flamboyant use of color and creates an exciting environment. This lively painting is ideal for your entertainment area. It has a casual yet classy appeal that can go well with any modern interior. Sunflowers This is one of the most popular series created by Van Gogh. Sunflowers are characterized by their richness and are a fine example of the innate abilities of Vincent. The artist has used a very innovative technique for this particular series which was considered to be light years ahead of its time. The theme is displayed in two series. One features flowers in vases whereas the other has them laid down. He is known for being an avid fan of painting flowers and the sunflower was by far his favorite. This would make a colorful and warm addition to the interior décor of your home. Cafe Terrace at Night This is a highly descriptive painting by the impressionist artist. The theme that the painting is based on has become an international art destination. Vincent sought to pay homage to this place of importance for local artists during hiss life time. It is an excellent choice for those with a fancy for impressionist art. The Starry Night Words cannot describe what Vincent Van Gogh achieved with this breakthrough painting of his. The Starry Night is the artist’s rendition of the view of the sky from his bedroom painted according to his innovative technique. It is believed that the artist made use of techniques that no one had ever used prior to this time and were unknown to the world of art. Irises This unique painting is a reflection of Vincent Van Gogh’s state of mind during that period of time. It is believed that he sought to treat himself with his passion of painting in order to save himself from a complete breakdown. The painting stands as a legacy of the artist’s troubled times and shows a very mystical side of the painter. Wheatfield with Crows This particular work of art is regarded as being one of the last paintings to be produced by the artist. It was developed in 1890 soon after which the artist died because of a self inflicted gun shot wound. Even though Van Gogh suffered from intense depression during his life time all of his paintings appear to be quite bright and optimistic and make a great addition to any well decorated home.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/art-articles/van-gogh-paintings-replicas-for-your-home-1501742.html

About the Author:
Buy your favorite Van Gogh Paintings from globalwholesaleart.com/Van-Gogh-Paintings-ar-57.html and here you will be able to find the complete range of Van Gogh paintings as well as paintings from other prominent artists.

MySpace layout

In our narration we are going to tell you about the methods of making your individual MySpace page unusual and more good-looking for other users. That said, I think that everyone has the capability to become a great photographer. Though if you look around an ask people if they are good at art almost everyone will say they are terrible or they hate the picture they just made. If they don't you got lucky. What these people are saying is not true. Art cannot be good or bad, it just depends on the viewer. Here is an example: There is a person who absolutely loves black and white photography, but loathes color photography. If you go over to him and present a beautiful photo of a flower in all its spring glory but it happens to be in color that person would say, “A horrid piece, absolutely horrid indeed,” and would walk away. You would feel like you just got slapped in the face. You would probably say to yourself, “Well the color is of and it happens to be off center...” and you would continue to invalidate your photo until you fully agree with that person who said that your photo was horrid. And once you agree with him, you probably never want to touch a camera again. Well... that is some thing that I really do not like. After all that person was completely biased he only likes black and white photography! You do not know this though so you think that your a rotten artist for no reason. If you are going to show your work to people, you should show it to people who like what you did, that way you do not go off hating art and anything that has to do with art for the rest of your life. Alright, now that we have that covered, I would like to share with you my story. I am 14 years old and am an Eagle Scout. I have had an interest in art for most of my life and have tried almost every form thereof. This includes: watercolor painting, oil painting, acrylic painting, wood carving, stone carving, wire sculpting, digital photography, film photography etc. I still do a lot of these because they are fun, but the one that I really love and will continue to do is photography. I think that art is amazing and there are so many different forms of it. A few months ago I decided to have a website where I could display my art for other people to enjoy. This website hosts CMJ Photographs . Over these few months I have strived to make it a more enjoyable and less crude website that gets found easily by people who care to look for it. I am of the opinion that I have gotten very far in the time that has past and I expect to go even further as time passes. On the website I have a few different galleries these include: Nature , Animals, Aircraft , Sky and Abstract Patterns. I continue to expand these collections of photos everyday. I hope you will take the time to visit my website and I hope you enjoy my art.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/visual-art-articles/the-art-of-photography-and-a-little-about-cjeschke-1435444.html
About the Author:
Christopher Jeschke
CMJ Photographs
www.CJeschke.com

Arts Questions & Answers

A British Artist Left Her Dirty Underwear On Her Bed And Called It...
It's amazing what some people will consider art. We may be compelled to have that piece of abstract canvas art for any reason. It could be because we collect artworks done by the artist who created that specific piece of art, or it could be that the piece itself evokes a lot of emotion from us. There are many reasons why people buy artworks, and when they do, it is to display them in some corner of their house where others can see it and appreciate it for its beauty. The question now would be: What if the piece of abstract canvas art that you bought does not fit your house? If this is your problem, you do not really have to worry about it. You can either make the room fit your art, or you can have your art fit your room. Making Abstract Canvas Art Fit a Room When we purchase a piece of art, sometimes it just does not seem to fit in the room we placed it in. There is nothing wrong with the room itself; the artwork just does not seem to belong to the rest of the room. Of course, you can be adamant at hanging your abstract canvas art in that particular room. Or you could simply be not up to the challenge of changing the room so you can display your artwork better. In this case, the solution you can turn to is to make alterations to the artwork itself. This would be quite easy. All you need to do is to frame your artwork, or replace the frame if it already has one. You can either put it in a neutral frame that will enable the painting to fit with the rest of your furniture or decor. You can also make the frame match the rest of your furniture – mahogany against mahogany, for instance. For best results, consult the artist who made the painting first before you do the framing. Make the Room Fit the Abstract Canvas Art If you believe that the abstract canvas art you just bought is too beautiful to be framed or reframed, then your other choice would be to change the room itself. This task could be as simple as rearranging your furniture so that all eyes would be focused on the artwork when people enter the room. It could also be a matter of removing some rugs, window treatments or other artworks from the room so that they would not steal attention away from the abstract canvas art you just bought. The task could also require something drastic, but you are up to it, you can have the whole room redecorated to suit the painting. Or it could be that all that is needed to be done is to remove wallpaper and replace it with neutral paint. However you do it, what is important is that your abstract canvas art should look like it is part of the room instead of standing out like a sore thumb. Your abstract canvas art, after all, should be a unifying factor in your home decorating efforts.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/visual-art-articles/does-your-abstract-canvas-art-fit-your-room-1371949.html
About the Author:
For more information on abstract canvas art and how to decorate your home with them, please visit http://www.the-canvas-art-shop.co.uk

make money

Black and white photography has long been a staple product of the art world. There is something about capturing the world around us and rendering it, and the people in it, in such a stark medium as black and white. In a way, this type of art takes away any preconceptions one might have about the given subject and allows the viewer to see the content as it really is, and even add their own ideas. It's important to note that black and white photography was the beginning of photography and holds a special place in many photographers' hearts. This is one of the reasons why it has become a bit of a trendy thing to do nowadays. Basically beginner photographers are starting to take up black and white photography more often than normal photography. Why? Mainly because they are still able to use the most advanced, up to date cameras while creating amazing black and white photos. The latest camera models have settings for black and white photography and some photo editing software enables photographers to change color photographs into black and white. Any of these methods can be used to achieve the classic black and white look that can impress any viewer. The scope of black and white digital photography is not only about portraits and landscapes. There are thousand and one things that you can express with black and white photographs. So the next time you have the digital camera in hand, focus on abstract shoots. Treat black and white digital photography, as a mode to portray the world in a different light and you will never be short on potential photography subjects. To start with your own black and white digital photography shots, you will not need extra effort and complications other than shooting as is. Take the shot in color then you can switch the setting of the digital image in an editor, using array of choices. If you are using Photoshop or Fireworks, you can change the whole image into black and white by editing "Hue and Saturation" or simply switching it to "grayscale" format. Since black and white digital photography doesn't rely on color to tell the story, the contrast of shades will need to be relied upon. This is one of the most important black and white shooting tips to learn. It is important to make sure subjects stand out even more so in black and white than in color. While a dark blue shirt might look awesome against a dark green setting in color, it will likely get lost in the shuffle in black and white. While that dark shirt and dark background can present problems in contrast, lighting can help fix the issue. The best way to master lighting for this type of digital photography is to play around and be willing to experiment to see what works and what doesn't. Try using the black and white settings in all kinds of situations to really master what needs to be done under different circumstances to effectively light up a shot. Why not make money from your digital photography and get paid to submit your photos to the internet or start up your own photography business. Remember a black and white picture of a single flower can be breathtaking.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/visual-art-articles/make-money-with-black-and-white-digital-photography-1317381.html
About the Author:
Barb Thornback is the owner and webmaster of http://www.privy2profit.com where you can find many different ways of making money.

filmmaking

Pursue your dreams and seek a career where you are interested in. I can easily say that this work or art is one of my favorite famous paintings of all time. Many reproductions have been made of this piece, and it is a very popular seller as a print or as a canvas art reproduction. Many art theorists say that the person depicted is not screaming at all, but expressing his feelings of shock and awe at the horror of what is going on around him. I guess we’ll never really know what has him so mortified. Here is another one of my favorite Van Gogh’s.. The colors and the brush stroke patterns that he utilizes in his paintings are just magnificent. I have always wanted to see an original Van Gogh painting in person, and hopefully I will be able to someday. Doctor Gachet looks awfully depressed in this portrayal, or maybe he’s just contemplating something? I really wish that Vincent Van Gogh would have got around to painting more people. I think he does an excellent job expressing emotion through his art. The infamous “Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh is arguably one of the most famous paintings ever.. But why? It’s really not that cool, to me anyways… There are tons of other great paintings and art collections that I would much rather spend my time looking at.. However, to give Van Gogh some credit, his portrait collection is most certainly worth it’s weight in gold.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/visual-art-articles/canvas-art-figurative-art-1299102.html
About the Author:
<a class="APCTitleAnchor" in New York on the eastern Long Island at Shinnecock.

The Revival Of American Impressionism
Author: mad scan
By Impressionism we mean the theory or style of painting that originated and developed in France during the 1870's. Its chief characteristics were the reaction of the artist on the immediate visual impression produced by a scene. The painting was made up of primary colors that were unmixed. Small strokes of the brush were used to give the effect of the reflection of light. The style of art was introduced in America during the major exhibitions of the works of the French impressionists in Boston and New York during the 1880's. Theodore Robinson was one of the first American artists to paint in an impressionistic mode. He was encouraged to follow this style of painting during his meeting with the renowned French artist, Claude Monet during his visit to France in the late 1880's. The display of the increasing number of the French impressionist works in the American exhibitions also influenced other renowned American artists such as Childe Hassam. The American impressionism flourished in art colonies composed of loosely affiliated groups of artists who lived and worked together and shared a common artistic vision, from the 1890's to 1910's. Art colonies were also formed in small towns and villages where the cost of living was low. These small places also had abundant breathtaking natural landscapes and scenery which offered plenty of themes to the artists for painting. The artists also had access to the large cities nearby where they could sell their work easily. Brown County, Indiana, and New Hope, Pennsylvania, on the Delaware River; Cos Cob and Old Lyme, Connecticut, both on Long Island Sound; were some of the chief places where most of the important American impressionist artists worked and lived. Many American impressionists’ artists also worked and lived in California at Carmel and Laguna Beach; in New York on the eastern Long Island at Shinnecock. This was due to the influence of William Merritt Chase. Frank Weston Beston and Edmund Charles Tarbell who lived in Boston were the other important artists who practiced the impressionist style. Till the late 1920's most of these art colonies of America remained the vibrant centers of the impressionist style of art. Though impressionist style of art in America continued till 1920's, it took a beating and lost its status in 1913 itself, when a historical exhibition of modern art took place at the 69th Regiment Armory Building in the New York City. This exhibition which was also known as the 'Armory Show' heralded a new style of painting which was influenced with the increase of modern technology and fast paced lives. Another cause of the new style of painting was the outbreak of the World War 1, the Great Depression and the World War 2. However, in the 1950's, almost a quarter of a century after the death of Monet, many American museums and art houses started to organize exhibitions where the original works of the French Impressionists were exhibited. These exhibitions again revived the interest of American Impressionism. This interest in Impressionism in America continues to grow unabated till this day. Its popularity can be observed in the plein-air or on the location paintings which has given an impetus to the revival of impressionism in America.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/art-articles/the-revival-of-american-impressionism-1290486.html
About the Author:
Sanjay Kumar writes content about American Women Artists , American Impressionism and Cape Ann Art .for more information visit at: American Impressionism

abstract art

Anybody who loves floral art is sure to fall in love with this very innovative approach to an oil painting depicting flowers.

Oil Paintings - Bed of Roses
Author: Anthony Masiello
Anybody who loves floral art is sure to fall in love with this very innovative approach to an oil painting depicting flowers. The Rose is the queen of all flowers and in this abstract depiction the artist has chosen to paint the roses in their beds - literally so! What see in this unique adaptation is a four piece canvas each of them depicting a rose lying on a white soft mattress in their gardens. The leaves are drawn in such a way as though depict the arms of those roses. These arms seem to shrug as if to tell the viewers - ‘Hey I am still a rose - and I am in my rose bed!’. The artist has chosen to draw the back drop of in shades of bright red to match with the roses. The white bed forms a pleasing contrast of colors and does a lot to highlight the beauty of the roses. If you are a floral art aficionado and if you are looking for something out of the ordinary - this is the wall art that will satisfy your tastes! There is an old country song titled: “I’m Looking for a Brand-New Bed of Roses”. The owner of this piece of modern art could truthfully say that he or she has found it. The painting is almost whimsical in its design, as the leaves in the first two almost appear to be trying to hold “hands”. And, each rose seems to display its own personality. Just exactly what that is would be, of course, left up to each person who viewed the painting. The swirls and subtle shadings provide a nice contrast to the stark beauty of the flowers themselves.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/visual-art-articles/oil-paintings-bed-of-roses-1284729.html
About the Author:

Bridget Nielsen

Bridget Nielsen - abstraction art

Subscribe to RSS headline updates from:
Powered by FeedBurner

Theater ticket

Even in these days of hundreds of cable channels and endless cheap DVD releases there is still nothing quite like a trip to the theater. An evening taking in a good play or show just seems more of an event than going to the local multiplex. Many people have stopped going to the theater, however. Not because they do not enjoy it, but because they think that it is just too expensive. This is not necessarily true though. The savvy internet shopper can net themselves some great deals on discounted theater tickets, and for all the big shows that you really want to see. Wicked is one of the most successful new theater productions of recent years. It tells the story of the Wicked Witch of the West--yes, she of Oz; but Wicked is a long way from being some kind of sequel to The Wizard of Oz, although it does feature references to the classic 1939 film along the way. All of the characters you know and love are in the musical production: Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian the Crab, and of course the wicked sea witch Ursula. Productions of The Little Mermaid are currently being staged all over the country and discounted theater tickets are available online for shows at all locations. But the protest mainly came form the so called guards of the culture. It is because they have mixed two different phenomenons: nude and naked. It is certain that when one person is deprived of his or her clothes he or she is called naked. The person would feel uncomfortable in that situation of the nakedness; and he or she would feel some sort of defencelessness, too, on being so naked. But the ‘nude’ body is not merely cloth-less figure. Here the person is neither defenceless nor feeling any shame or guilt. The naked body is well-balanced and feels proud of being so beautifully depicted in a natural pose. When we look at a nude painting, that work of art creates a visual and emotional impact on us. The beauty of a human figure so painted by artistic choice of colours and their intensity spread on canvas send us on a journey of an art land, the land whereupon the artists had visualised something and he or she had tried depicting the same before us. So the naked body may be a questionable identify, the one nude is not. Nudity presupposes the art and beauty. It is the representation of human body with no intention of creating the impulses like sex. Thus the nude and naked are clearly two different aspects. If we look at the painting by the master artists we would not fail to mark the difference between a naked body and a nude body. Here the persons being painted seem feeling quite comfortable with their position and the depiction of natural beauty. The mixture of the two cultures combined into one form of art is truly beautiful, but what are the artists really trying to portray?

Original African American Art

Author: Benicio Brown

African American paintings are in high demand, we know that for sure. The mixture of the two cultures combined into one form of art is truly beautiful, but what are the artists really trying to portray? Moving from somewhere you know as your home and landing in a foreign country is hard enough. Learning the language is achievable, and art is similar to that of a language. You need to learn to adapt quickly to a new way of life and remember that it is not just a language, but a culture as well. Artists realized that once they moved they would have to adapt their current practices to enable others to understand exactly what they were doing. It even came to the point where the artists understood that they might even have to mask their current beliefs and take up others to ensure that their art was popular and understood. Of course, African American paintings have a great history, and it is one that needs to be understood if you really want to understand African American art. The hardest time for an African American was certainly during the times of excessive slavery. If you were lucky enough to be a good artist, then you might be assigned to families. To begin with you might be making quilts and cushions or similar items, but the future would offer so much more. Eventually the African American artists became known as simply painters for white families. Whilst this was downgrading and the artists were not ever treated correctly, what they didn’t realize is this could be their ticket to freedom; their art was worth more to families than the artists themselves. As slavery became less and less popular in certain regions and people became to stand against it, artists were able to make their move. The quality of African American paintings at the time was highly valued by many families. So much to a point where some artists were able to break free by offering families a collection of their best work, and the families let them go! Of course, the next step for artists was getting through the civil war. Whilst African American artists were become more and more recognized, black culture in the USA was still separated from white culture. The white man dominated the streets and constantly downgraded other cultures. Of course, artists used this to their advantages and portrayed their feelings or lives through their artwork. Of course, many people didn’t understand where the idea originated from their work, or what it meant. That didn’t matter to the artists producing the African American paintings though as it was this emotion that allowed them to produce such quality work! In fact, the African American art community became so popular that their work was displayed through the country. Museums and studios proudly displayed their work. It was only slightly after this point that their work was considered as similar to that of European artists. Of course, the reasons African American paintings were so popular was because they were extremely unique. If they were suddenly being compared to work in Europe, then they didn’t really stand much hope of being the biggest and the best. The artists need to come up with something that would distinguish them from artists across Europe and for that matter, the rest of the globe! The Harlem Renaissance definitely managed to achieve this. It allowed African American art to be once again distinguished as popular and unique. Over the years the artists in the community build on each others life’s experiences and the past of their ancestors and the future of their families. Of course, the new found inspiration for the art meant that African American paintings became more and more in demand. The same supply and higher demand meant that they had to increase the prices of their work and were soon out pricing European artists! Of course, even to this date African American artists still look back on their ancestors work or lives for inspiration. This allows them to portray emotion and doesn’t let anyone forgot what happened and what shouldn’t happen once more. Emotion is the best form of inspiration and this is why African American paintings are such high quality!

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/visual-art-articles/original-african-american-art-1271053.html

About the Author:
LyndesArt.com , the Official Lynde Washington online gallery, offers original African American art : African fine art prints in limited edition and original African American paintings.

abstract canvas art

In decorating your home with abstract canvas art, you should make sure that the art pieces you choose go well with the rest of the furnishings to create a unified look for your room.

How to Decorate Your Home with Abstract Canvas Art

Author: Luke Wildman

Do you want to decorate your home with abstract canvas art ? Whilst your choice is indeed excellent, you should know that there is more to decorating your home with abstract canvas art than just buying a piece of abstract art on canvas from a gallery. You have to make sure that your piece of art fits snugly in the room you are going to put it in. There are a few guidelines that you should bear in mind when you decorate your home with abstract canvas art . These guidelines will ensure that you will be showcasing your art in the way it is meant to be showcased. Moreover, you will be creating a room that is beautiful to look at and pleasant to stay in. Before You Buy Abstract Canvas Art The first step that you should take when decorating with abstract art is to take into consideration the room itself. If you are still in the process of decorating your house, you should finish decorating first. Get your walls painted, your floors carpeted or covered with rugs and your furniture in place before you consider wall art. The reason why you should finish decorating first before you buy abstract canvas art is because your art pieces should serve as finishing touches to the room. You would need to know what the room would look like beforehand so you would be able to get the appropriate art pieces. What would be the appropriate art pieces for your room? It depends on which furniture pieces and other artworks will be displayed along with your abstract painting. The painting should not be larger than the furniture piece itself and should somehow create a unified look when grouped with these furniture pieces and other decorative objects you will be putting with it. Another guideline that will help you is to hang your abstract canvas art on the focal wall of the room. The focal wall is the wall that faces the entryway of the room. In this way, anyone entering the room will be instantly drawn to the painting. It is the best way to showcase any painting, whether it is an expensive original artwork or a cheap reproduction. Hanging Your Abstract Canvas Art Let us say that you have already bought the abstract canvas art that you believe is right for your room. How are you supposed to hang and display it? As mentioned above, the painting you have selected should help create a unified look with the rest of the furnishings in the room. Second, you have to hang it somewhere where it can be seen easily, such as the focal wall of the room. A third thing you need to remember is that you should not leave a lot of space between the painting and the furniture near it. Putting them close together will add to the unified look that you are trying to achieve. Another guideline that will be helpful to you is to imagine an imaginary rectangle when you are hanging your abstract canvas art and confine your pictures within this imaginary rectangle. This is especially helpful if you have a number of small abstract canvas art pieces that you are grouping together. In this way, your wall display will appear neat, clean and pretty instead of cluttered.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/art-articles/how-to-decorate-your-home-with-abstract-canvas-art-1269518.html

About the Author:
Do you need more information on abstract canvas art?
