100 Heads Challenge

2022-08-21T17:10:00.002-07:00

The 100 heads challenge was created by artist Ahmed Aldoori, where you draw 100 heads (portraits) in 10 days and you can use any medium(s): traditional or digitally. I saw some artists talking about the challenge and how they felt very burnt out, exhausted and stressed out after doing the challenge in 10 days, so I decided I didn't want to feel like that and take my time instead. It took me a little over a month and picked my references from Pinterest. I have to say that faces/people are a bit of a weakness for me, but after this, I feel a little bit better. Drawn with graphite and a blue colored pencil in the under drawing sketch. I'll be posting more portrait drawings from the challenge, not all of them, but a good portion of them that I think turned out well.

Foldover Journals

2022-07-23T16:44:00.003-07:00

Tried my hand at some custom foldover journals that I think turned out pretty well. There's a magnet that holds it in place and has a ribbon to reinforce it as well. Outside cover is sturdy wallpaper and scrap booking paper is on the inside covers.

2022-01-09T13:22:00.002-08:00

A quick fan art gouache painting of one of the many Korok puzzles in the video game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I used a little bit of Faber-Castell colored pencils in some spots for highlights and shadows. The Korok will appear if you dive or jump into the middle of the circle and they are found throughout the map in different ponds or streams.

Ancient Shrine

2021-12-11T15:23:00.000-08:00

A quick fan art gouache painting of an ancient shrine from the video game Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there were originally 120 shrines before the dlc. Also done with Faber Castell colored pencils for highlights and shadows, the mixed media result with this one was just ok to me. Fun fact: the shrines were based off the era in Japan known as the Jomon period.

Strawberry Milk ･いちごミルク

2021-11-10T14:11:00.001-08:00

A pen and ink drawing that's colored in with Copic markers. I made two versions of this drawing, a black and white line art and this one. At first I really didn't like the colored in version of this drawing, but after awhile, I didn't think it was so bad. Strawberry milk is a very popular drink in Japan.

Petroglyph Korok Puzzle

2021-11-04T14:25:00.000-07:00

A fan art painting of a petroglyph rock formation from the video game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Done in gouache and small details were added with Faber-Castell colored pencils. A petroglyph is a formation made from rocks that often appear as spirals or other shapes. In the game, there are many of these patterns found throughout the map and you either have to find the missing rock or move a rock to complete the pattern. When finished, a Korok will pop up and give you a seed to be used for more inventory space.

Ghostie Friend

2021-10-31T13:32:00.001-07:00

The last day of Artober! Happy Halloween! Drawn in pen and ink on tone paper and also used a white gel pen. This year was definitely more relaxing for me by not posting every single day. I painted some days and sketched/doodled other days without worrying how they turned out and just had fun! I also liked a lot of Furry Little Peach's prompts for 'Peachtober'.

Autumn Colors

2021-10-24T11:53:00.001-07:00

A drawing in pen and ink and colored in with Copic Markers. Fun fact: As fall approaches, the green leaves on plants and trees break down chlorophyll and redistribute the nutrients back to the trunk and roots, thus creating the other colors in the leaves.
