Samhain Is Upon Us...

2013-10-31T09:36:00.000-05:00

Samhain is upon us. To most of us this holiday is known as Halloween. Check out this INTERESTING VIDEO about Halloween. Although many of us grew up with great memories of this celebration the truth is that it has a very dark history. As I grow older I've taken interest in looking deeper into everything around me. With recent events that have taken place in our lives one can't help but question where all these horrible events originate.

A lot of things seem unexplainable but the truth is they are very explainable. I ask that this Halloween we all start looking deeper into the darkness that is taking hold of our world. Strange things are constantly happening and we must take it upon ourselves to understand the truth rather than just excepting the world as it is presented to us. Remember, just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean others in this world do not…Happy Satantic Holiday.

Weekend Single

2013-10-25T09:20:00.003-05:00

Check out this weekend's single on Sound Cloud - Put A Little Napkin In My Plastic. I wrote this tune with a woman by the name of Tia Hoffman. She came to me wanting to write a song for her and her husbands' one year wedding anniversary. I think it turned out really great and I'm very happy for the both of them.

This Sunday at 10pm the tune will be featured on FM 106.1 Milwaukee's Homemade Jams. It'll be the 4th song in the line up, so please tune in and support us. If you are not in the local area CLICK HERE for the live stream! CLICK HERE to go to the iTunes page where you can purchase the track.

Jon Stewart Covering Obamacare

2013-10-23T10:13:00.002-05:00

Thought I'd post this funny video link. Funny video of Jon Stewart covering Obamacare. We're truly living through some interesting times. A lot in this world makes my head spin and many times I am left frustrated at the fact that people just don't care about what's going on politically or financially around them. So here's a little humor to lighten the mood :)

Also, don't forget to visit www.timangsten.com for more updates on music and shows. I just released a bunch of new singles. I know you'll enjoy them so check out the Tim Angsten iTunes Page when you get a chance!

Tim Angsten - The Fire In Youth's February Featured Artist

2013-01-31T15:05:00.005-06:00

My friend, Timothy Blaze, has made me one of February's featured artists on his website. Tim is the founder of "The Fire In Youth" and is also an amazing artist. It is so great to have people like Tim in the community. His willingness to bring Austin artists together is wonderful and I truly thank him for it.

Please support a great movement and check out not only my section, but also all of the other amazing artists. "The Fire In Youth" is a cool site, with some of the most amazing artwork, photography, poetry and music you've never seen or heard.

It is refreshing to know that there are still youth in the world that put down the video games and T.V remotes and instead create beautiful things. That's why I asked Timothy Blaze to spotlight the video below. If you are one of the inspiring people I'm talking about, please check out the video below and wake yourself up to the info war...

Ch..Ch..Ch..Ch...Changes

2013-01-14T11:27:00.003-06:00

A lot of changes have been taking place in my life. It's crazy when you stop and assess where you were and where you have come. I cannot believe it has already been two years since I moved to Texas. Time is truly a mysterious mechanism.

Well, that's enough philosophy from me for one day. I've been working on a lot of new songs and I hope to have some of them recorded and released very soon. I think you will enjoy the new tunes very much!

I've been working on getting back to writing when the musical spirit moves me. It's so easy to get lost in believing that you write music to make money. Although I completely understand why they call it the "Music Business", I also believe you can be over taken by that side to easily.

Lately, I've started writing about myself again, and all the topics that apply to me, rather than what the "market" would want to hear. Well, I am the market. I'm an individual who has emotions and feelings. And if I have emotions, someone else is bound to relate to them in some way. Long story short, it feels good to be writing like this again.

Don't forget to check my website for upcoming shows and other news. And if you have any venues you know of that would enjoy an acoustic solo act, let me know. I will try and book a show in your area!

"The Soldier's Christmas Song" YouTube Video Production

2012-12-03T19:38:00.001-06:00

If you or a love one is serving in the military I need your help. I'm putting together a YouTube video and I'd like to add pictures of the brave men and woman who sacrifice their life for our freedom.

Please make sure pictures are in .jpg format. If you'd like to write a shout out or some inspiring words, add them in the email and I'll put it in the video over you're picture(s).

Send pictures to timangstenmusic@gmail.com

You can help bring this song to life this Christmas. I want all my friends and fans to be a part of this wonderful song I wrote with songwriter Scott Williams. It's titled "The Soldier's Christmas Song" and paints a picture of a soldier's hope for peace on the holiest day of the year. The day our savior was born.

Whether you serve or you have a love one serving, thank you for your strength and belief in a better world. I'd also like to thank Dan Collins for performing piano and Billy Seidel for his amazing cover art.

In a world that is often dark, there is so much light to be found if we all come together. God bless and I look forward to your addition to the creation of this meaningful song.

New Album Available on iTunes!

2012-10-23T14:23:00.001-05:00

My new album "A Heart That Needs To Be Mine" is now available for digital download on iTunes and CD Baby.com! Anyone who has followed me through the years knows that this album is a major genre change for me. However, singing and writing country songs feels more right than anything else I have ever done as far as music goes.

This 9 song album is just the first step in a direction I am very excited about taking. A lot of hard work went into the creation of this album and I'd like to thank everyone who helped make this project come to life.

My co-writer Stephen McMillen helped structure many of the songs on the album and wrote lyrics to the title track "A Heart That Needs To Be Mine" and track 8 "I Just Can't Understand". Steve and I are constantly writing and working on improving the craft of songwriting. He's an amazing friend and I'm so grateful I met him.

Of course I have to thank my parents and my wonderful and amazing girlfriend Jamie, oh and of course her dog Champ "Big Head". Without their constant support I would be lost. The music industry is one of the hardest markets to survive in and it can become overwhelming. There are days when an artist would like to hang their head and quite but thanks to support systems like mine artist's continue to keep on, keepin' on.

The album was mixed by Vinny Millevolte owner of Axis Recording Studio. Vinny is one of the nicest and most talented studio engineers I've ever met. I used to intern with Vinny back in college and I learned close to everything I know about recording from him. Any musicians in the Milwaukee area make sure you check him out!

The albums art direction and design was headed by Billy Seidel, owner of Seidel Creative Group. Billy has had my back since I met him in 2010. He has always had advice for me about the music business and when I have a project that needs work he makes sure it's a top priority. I cannot thank him enough for all he has done for my music career. Billy and his family are expecting a baby girl sometime in the near future so lets all wish them luck and a healthy delivery! No worries though he has one of the best doctors on his side...my mom :)

Photography was shot by the amazing Carrie Kuenzi. Carrie has a real talent for creating a great atmosphere for all of her photos. Some people just have that artist touch and she has it! Make sure you check out the photo gallery on my website for more of her work. Thank you so much Carrie!

Now, if you were to call me the quarterback of this musical project I'd be nothing without my offensive line. It was my honor to have some of the most amazing musicians perform on this album. Each of these guys did an amazing job and I wish them all the best of luck with all their musical aspirations.

Drums - Jonathan Patrick Adams
Bass - Patrick Longmire
Lead Guitar - Will Knaak
Organ & Electric Piano - Dan Collins
Pedal Steel & Dobro - Justin Douglas
Backing Vocals - Anthony Perry

Finally, I would like to thank anyone who supports independent music day after day. Without you all of us musicians would be nothing at all. These days it's easy to download a lot of artistic material for free but there are still people left in this world who understand that their support is just as important as an artists writing and recording abilities. So thank you so much for loving music and keeping it alive!

Here's to the future, whatever it may bring...

Until Next Time Nashville

2012-10-01T19:17:00.000-05:00

Well, it has been a great learning experience visiting Nashville. I've played some great shows and met a lot of amazing people. To the left is a beautiful picture of Nashville, TN. It wasn't as big of a city as I thought it would be. But that made me enjoy it even more.

I cannot wait for the chance to go back. Hopefully when I do it will be because my music career is taking off...lol. Oh and did I mention I was able to visit a full scale replica of the Parthenon! Yeah, that was pretty sweet. I didn't realize how many security cameras the Greeks used back in their day. They really were an advanced culture!

The Bluebird Cafe

2012-09-26T19:02:00.000-05:00

I had the honor of performing at one of the most well known cafe's in Nashville during my trip. It was an amazing experience. It's always a treat for musicians when we get to perform to people who listen to every note and word. The Bluebird Café is one of the world’s preeminent listening rooms and the venue has gained worldwide recognition as a songwriter’s performance space where the “heroes behind the hits” perform their own songs; songs that have been recorded by chart-topping artists in all genres of music.

Located in a small strip mall outside of downtown Nashville, the 100 seat venue is unassuming in appearance but some of the most significant songwriters and artists have performed on this stage. At The Bluebird, performers include up-and-coming songwriters along with those whose music is regularly on the charts. Kathy Mattea was the first star to be identified with The Bluebird and is still a friend and a regular guest performer today. Garth Brooks played on both the Open Mic and Sunday Songwriter’s Shows before he was discovered – at The Bluebird – and signed to Capitol Records.

What a great event to add to my memory bank. I hope I get the chance to go back again and perform sometime.

Nashville - Part I

2012-09-25T14:47:00.000-05:00

Nashville has been amazing so far. The weather has been great and I have learned so much. The t-shirt on the left side explains the Nashville frame of mind perfectly.

All kidding aside, the last two nights I had the privilege of performing with our new friend and musician Garrett Steele. Garrett and his band are amazing, along with his manager Tina Marie. Make sure you check out his material at www.garrettsteele.com.

I made a visit to ASCAP which is located on Music Row. Music Row is as classic as I imagined. There are endless recording studios, labels and publishing companies. Below is one of the ASCAP conference rooms. My buddy and I got to meet with a few of the employees and it was pretty cool.

That's about it for now. Been on the go so much I need to lay down for a bit. I'll have more news in the next few days. I'm playing at the Bluebird Cafe, so that will be quite the experience.

Recording the Christmas E.P

2011-11-20T14:30:00.001-06:00

The Christmas E.P is coming along very well! Attached are some videos of recording techniques I have used throughout the process.

It still blows me away how amazing technology is these days. Most of my recordings, as you will see in these videos, are done in my apartment. And thanks to my good friend Jonathan Adams I was able to add some great percussion to the E.P.

Stay tuned for more information on the release of my 2011 Christmas E.P :)
