What better way to start the new year than with a confession and some resolutions?..

I have a confession to make.Up until now, I haven't set any resolutions for real.I mean, yeah..I thought about what I want to accomplish in the new year,but never wrote it down.Especially when books were concerned.So, here it goes!

2014 Bookish Resolutions

#1 Read at least 50 books

There are 52 weeks in a year.Excluding the 2 months and a half I'll be busy with exams for university,that gives me 42 weeks relatively free.That means, I'll have to read approximately a book in less than a week.

#2 Finish the book series I have already started.Or read the books that are going to be published in 2014 from those series.

At any price is the book that I really wanted to read for a very long time, because for the longest time I wanted to read something similar in the "college girl and the rich guy that's not in college pairing".
The story follows Mia and Adam as they meet and connect in these ..uncommon circumstances, falling in love in the process.
Mia was your average pre-med college student,passionate about games and writing about them in her blog named Geek Girl.
Adam was the ..computer genius that designed games and the CEO of his own company.
As the story progressed, I discovered I liked Adam more and more, even through I was uneasy in the beginning,but as for Mia, I definitely liked her a lot from the start.I just could connect with her.
Another thing I particularly enjoyed was the angst at the almost end of the book.Total love there.It literally kept me awake for a while longer that I should have.
What annoyed me to no end was the ...delaying of fulfilling the contract.It drove me mad!To no end...
Now,there were a few more things that didn't sit well with me, but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.

In the end, it was a pretty good read,and I really liked it.I do recommend it to anyone who is interested in romance or love stories that really seem..that have no chance at all.

~ The Review~

Mutilate my Heart is one punk-rock fangirl's fantasy romance with a rockstar,but not your usual one.It will blow your brains out and leave you hungry for more(Of what,it's debatable).
Emily Godwin definitely has some kick ass writing style and I particularly liked how she wrote the lighthouse scene.It made the top "Favorite Scenes" list, along with pretty much all the scenes from the end of the book.
As for the characters,Becca and Carli were definitely my favourite female characters and as it's Becca POV ,I could connect with her.She was down to earth and a cool ,and very brave girl.But I din't quite connect with most of the band members.Like ,they were just some nicknames and the emo look.Untouchable, punk-rock band.Rockstars.
Turning the page towards the list of things that I didn't particularly like, the first and the thing that was quite expensive was that sometimes it was slightly more dark than I would've liked it or that I was comfortable with it, in a emo-punk-Marylin Manson kind of way.I guess that in my mind,most of the band members look a lot like Marylin Manson.A lot younger version of him.

All in all, Mutilate my heart mutilated most of my night in one sitting,and being the good read it was,I recommend it, but be aware!The story will grip you tightly and will not let you go, even after you have past read the last words from the last page.It will leave you wanting more.Wanting to read the next book.Because it has a lot of things that have yet to be discovered and told.For me it was Carli's POV.I wanted to dig deeper into her romance with Corpse.The mother.Yes,I actually said the mother(Can't believe it either).Her story is one that has to be told.It would be an interesting read for sure.

I don’t know what force of nature compels me to break my “no eye contact” rule. Maybe it is his heady musk, or the warmth radiating off his frame, but when I look into his eyes, I swear I nearly wet my pants. The guy is gorgeous. Warm chocolate eyes, thick lashes, flawless tanned skin, marred only by the slightest bit of stubble on his square jaw. Black hair cut short frames his angular face. And that mouth, so full and sensual, my traitorous lips part as if compelled to kiss him.

When he looks down at me and smiles, I know I’m done for. My knees weaken and the heat rushes through me and spreads like wildfire. Damn me for acting the love-struck fool and smiling back.

His sensual lips part and I think, Oh, gawd, this is it. You’re about to totally violate your anti-slut protocol and make out with this random stranger. I don’t even have the strength to tell myself I’m acting like an idiot.

He leans toward me, and before he gets the chance to kiss me, he points to something just beyond my shoulder. “Do you girls need help?”

His deep, rich voice startles me, but not as much as the fact that I was about to kiss a total stranger—a stranger who’s obviously not interested in kissing me back.

I turn toward Karri. She’s slumped against the driver’s side door and sobbing into her hands. Well, don’t I feel like the total bitch?

My sexy Latin stud brushes past me, the click of his cowboy boots ringing across the pavement as he walks toward Karri. He’s a soldier. I can tell by his rigid, uniform stride, although his cropped hair should have given it away. Karri’s brother is in the Marines, and he’s got a similar stiffness in his gait. I follow this guy, even though my legs are almost useless, weakened by my stupid crazy hormones.

“Uh, oh,” he says as he circles the car.

It’s still smoking, and I worry maybe Karri should back away, even though I’m pretty sure cars only blow up in the movies.

Karri looks at him through wide, watery eyes, and something flashes in her gaze. Oh, yeah, her slut sonar must be on high alert. I can’t say I blame her. His physique is just as impressive from the rear. His jeans mold to that ass perfectly, and even through his striped linen shirt, I can see the outline of a man in prime condition.

Karri wipes her eyes with the back of her hand. “My stupid car broke down.” She pouts and bats her lashes while thrusting out her generous cleavage.

“It’s not the car that’s stupid,” I say before I have the chance to stop myself. I slap my hand over my mouth. What the heck is wrong with me? But as I watch my friend slant me a dirty look and then turn a big smile on the stud, I know exactly what’s wrong. I’m being territorial over a guy, which is weird, because I’ve never been that way before, not even over Jackson. And for some odd reason, money grubbing hos are always throwing themselves at him.

“Mind if I take a look?” Stud muffin asks, but he’s already inside the car popping the lever. Smoke pours from the engine when he lifts the hood.

I take several steps back because the fumes are unbearable. Karri screeches and stomps a foot. He surveys the damage, and when he frowns, the tendons in his neck flex beneath his stiff shirt collar. Damn. I imagine the muscles beneath that shirt are even tighter. Double damn.

I cross one leg over the other, balancing awkwardly as I try to quell my raging hormones—that is how hot and bothered I am over a guy.

Minutes later we arrived, and just in time for our eight a.m. classes. Claire, Tracy, and I dispersed to our respective classrooms upon entering the building, agreeing to meet later on for lunch.
Usually, I’d sit in one of the chairs at the first row of tables, since I barely made it in time for class; but today the only available seats were at the back—where no one likes to sit because it’s too far away from the writing board. No one paid attention to me as I scooted by to the back of the classroom and grabbed one of the empty seats at the last row of tables. The seat to the left of me was empty and everyone else had chosen their seats, so I was a little relieved that I wouldn’t be sharing the table with anyone. I wasn’t in the mood for small talk, so sitting alone came as a bonus.
When a few moments had gone by and no one else showed up, the teacher began his lecture for the day. With book, notebook, and pen in hand, I began to take notes of what the teacher was either saying or writing on the board, when the door opened and someone stepped inside. I was too busy going over what I wrote so I didn’t bother to look up to see who’d entered the classroom. I automatically assumed it was probably a student running late. However, the sound of loud gasps rushing through the otherwise silent room caused me to look up to see what the commotion was all about.
That was the first time I saw him. My gaze automatically drifted toward the silver-colored orbs he had for eyes. Never in my life had I seen eyes like those. It wasn’t just the color of them that was strange and incredibly alluring but the way he looked around the room also, as if searching for prey. Where that thought came from I had no idea, but I did agree that the description match him to a T.
The instructor spoke softly to him, but the boy only nodded several times, not even bothering to look at him. I thought that rude until I noticed he was too busy looking at…me.
My cheeks started to burn as he kept staring at me with those dangerously sensual eyes. No one had ever observed me that way before and it made me slightly uneasy. His quiet stare made me feel hot and uncomfortable all at once. After a silent staring contest, I turned my eyes away from him and decided to stare at the notes in front of me instead.
His eyes were intense, too much for me to handle without feeling as if I was going to be burned alive right on the spot. Good grief, no one ever had this mammoth effect on me before.
He was so different from the young men from around here. His demeanor held a hint of arrogance, boldness, and indifference unlike anything I’d perceived. Sure, some guys tended to act that way, but he took it up a notch. I took note of his dress code too: all-black casual wear—black hoodie, black shirt, black pants, black boots. Even his backpack was black. I could have easily accused him of being some kind of rock and roll groupie or maybe even a Goth-loving fan, but he didn’t appear to fit into either category.
However, the dark clothing only made his look more mysterious and it definitely brought out the color of his eyes even more. He was tall, too, very tall. If I had to guess what his height was, I would say six-foot-one or something close to that. His chestnut-colored hair was long, down to his shoulders, and he wore it lose. Something about him clearly screamed bad boy.

Book Review

American Girl on Saturn is the story of one famous boyband and their lockdown in the house with 2 teenage daughters and one 5 year old Saturnite,who might just be their biggest fan,a secret agent dad,crafty mom and a fake butler.

With five boys and 3 girls in lockdown,there is at least one match sure to light and get the fire started.
I liked all the Characters, but I particularly liked Chloe and Milo.The reason is simple, they are mature for their age.Do note that I said mature,NOT boring.Some people tend to get confused on this difference.
I liked Jules drama and expected it in a way.Also the reality-like feel of the book with all the gossip,false stories,rumours and references to actual bands and singers.
The whole story was really entertaining and captivating.Read the whole thing in a sitting(with just a little pause to tweet about the book, but that doesn't count,right?)
As the story progresses we get to know the boys better with fake twitter feeds on the fridge,Twister games,a 5 -year -old -girl -made -us -do -it activities and the most exciting for me : Secret dates at midnight or Sunset.
American Girl on Saturn blew me away to a Saturnite Land where there is a mansion with 5 really cute boys and 3 girls and lockdown and an infinite supply of Oreos and strawberry milk with no way back, not that I mind.
My only regret is not knowing if there is more on this Saturnite Land to explore and my ~~only~~ biggest fear is that there isn't more.
I recommend this book to those who like: romance,YA,summer fun,boybands,secret crushes,and boyfriends,a summer read and the list goes on...
I have to say,this was my favorite bookof this past summer !

With my thoughts running amok, my cheeks began to feel warm, betraying me. The heat spread from one side to the other quickly, giving my face a nice rosy glow. He chuckled and I almost came apart. Did this man have any idea what that one small sound did to a girl? I bet he did, he had to, given his current shit-eating grin. There was no way that he couldn’t know. Guys like him knew they were walking fuck-me advertisements.
“Careful. It’s a little too soon to fall for me.” He smiled, dimples and all, and I nearly lost it again. Dimples! I was in serious trouble already and I hadn’t been out of the loony bin for an hour yet.
“Not likely,” I replied. I righted myself and leaned back casually. “Are you planning on being here long?”
He quickly scanned my face, and then returned his focus to the book in his hands. “Not sure. Ask me again in an hour.”
Argh! Infuriating and sexy as hell? Great combo. My head told me to walk away, but my traitorous body was trying to convince me to inch closer to him. With a quick scoot, I was mere inches from him, our legs nearly touching.
“Whatcha reading?” I tried to get a look at the book, but he closed it before I could figure out what it was.
“Homer.”
“Simpson?”
A slow grin spread across his face. “As in The Odyssey. Greek epic poem…ring any bells?”
“No. The only Homer I know is married to a woman with a giant blue beehive.”
With a shake of his head, he opened his book once again. “Sheltered?”
His attitude was really starting to piss me off. “No. Unless you consider ten years in the wacky shack as sheltered.” I had expected my words to have some sort of impact. Nothing. He didn’t even flinch.

I spent the whole night reading all the files that Samantha had given to me, and I couldn’t find anything new. The next day, I was so tired that I left Kevin playing video games and went to take a nap in the middle of the day. In my exhausted state, I smiled, remembering the old Nick.

“Why are you crying?”

“I’m not. I don’t cry,” I said, sniffling.

“Okay, well… here, take this,” he said, taking off his sweater while standing in the cold in his white T-shirt. “Your face is wet for some reason,” he smiled.

“I don’t need that.”
