The Doomsday Vault

What is it? Well it's probably not what you expect it is, unless you have heard of it before. The "Doomsday Vault" is a giant seed repository. In it are seeds from all around the world, stored incase of natural disaster, war, water shortages, or war. Check it out here for more info. The vault is underneath a frozen mountain in Norway, and stands ready for use should it ever be needed.

If your following the news like I am then you know what's happening in the Midwest and south, tornado's. A F-4 hit Harrisburg, Ill at 5AM at a time when they don't happen for the most part and at a time most people were still asleep. Now that was 2 days ago, and these twisters are still going on. My suggestion to any of you that are living in the area's that are effected. That you need to either hunker down in a storm shelter or if you have family in area's that aren't being effected go see if you can spend some time with them. I hope you the best. And I want everyone else to look at what's going on and remember this saying "Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst."

Doomsday Bunkers

There is a new show on Discovery, Doomsday Bunkers.

It's to be a 3 part series, but you never know it may take on a life of it's own. The first episode is on the 7th, and if you want a email reminder then check be sure to go HERE. HERE is a small article on the show. I know I will be watching it of course, but I will probably be pretty angry when it's over after watching that commercial for the show. I as a prepper don't plan to go killing people for no good reason other than that they have some supplies.

Putin wish's to rearm Russia to become world power again

So Putin want's Russia to be rearmed. This comes after they announce that 100mt icbm. While this is likely just posturing by Putin to get votes out of the defense industry, this is something we need to watch. There is already a cold war going on between Saudi Arabia and Iran, we don't really need another between the US and Russia again.

South Korea conducted some military drills, North Korea says its military aggression. More info at link, I am honestly starting to think nothing is gonna happen on the Korea peninsula. Just more bickering and North Korea occasionally killing South Koreans and getting scolded.

No way to stop leak of virus info

So apparently the chairman of the US National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity says that there is no way to stop the leak of how H5N1 could be mutated to be human transmissible. Now the H5N1 is the birdflu virus, which is what the Spanish Flu was(not that exact strain mind you). This is truly terrifying if you think about it, if terrorists or rogue scientist were to get there hands on this info then they could unless a pandemic upon the world. Chilling stuff if you ask me.

The next Nuclear Arms Race

So I am sure if you have been watching the news you will have heard about Iran and it's nuclear ambitions. In the coming days Ahmadinejad while will be announcing a major achievement towards that end. What it is we can only speculate. The rising tensions in the middle east between Iran and all the other mid-east nations is growing, to the point that Saudi Arabia has announced that it will seek to buy Nuclear Weapons should Iran test a A-Bomb. Now this comes on the heels of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announcing that it is a state sponsor of terrorism. Now this all may seem unimportant to you but it is important. Should tension build to a boiling point AFTER these nations have achieved nuclear armament then a nuclear war could ensue. This would be bad, as we all know from history a war between 2 nations that have opposing allies can spiral out of control. While it may not happen and I could be speaking out my ass I would still like everyone to take the time and money and prepare for it just in case. There is a quote by Albert Einstein about WW3, "I do not know what weapons World War III will be fought with, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

Navy to test 32 megajoule em railgun

I did a post on this a while back, talking about railgun testing in the near future. Well the Navy is getting it's first railgun soon and will begin testing them. I think this is pretty amazing, and it makes me wonder if it will ever become man portable. It also makes me wonder if it will ever be available to civilians. For more on this here's the link.

Doomsday Preppers the Series

A brand new show by NatGeo called "Doomsday Preppers". I know that I'll be watching and I hope that all of you will be as well. I am gonna be laughing my ass off the entire time more than likely, it honestly looks like they got the most outlandish preppers that they could find for the show. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they are serious but it looks like most of them could stand to lose a couple HUNDRED pounds. I'm plump myself but I, exercise, go to the gym 4 to 5 times a week, and spend between 1 and 3 hours there. But maybe I'm jumping the gun here and judging a book by it's cover, I really do hope that the show brings more people into the prepping universe. I personally got into prepping from playing Fallout 3 and dreaming about the wastes, then realizing just how truly SHITTY life would be. This is the King of the Wastes, hoping all of you a happy tv series that hopefully will have more than 2 seasons like The Colony did....
