Recently with the release of the new iPhone 4s, Apple also released a feature called SIRI, "your personal assistant" so to speak. I must say, it's features are pretty impressive,not to mention it's wittiness..

But as with most things Apple,they took something out of the grave and made it hot.^[1]. More precisely put, something Android, voice commands,that have been around Android since the beginning of Android. Apps such as the one below were out long before SIRI.

Ok,this is not a comparison of Apple-Android.This is a review for Android users who want something alike to SIRI so that they don't have to put up with iPhone users antics.

Now a group of developers from Dexetra, decided one lazy afternoon to create something just like this, in just eight hours! The first pre-release version that came out was nowhere near good, it could hardly understand your questions,even though it could translate all your speech perfectly,it was pretty useless.

Recently however, the developers released an Alpha version of IRIS onto the market with a few major improvements.

First, the ability to call, send texts. Second,the ability to understand most of your queries and give you legitimate answers.
Here's a preview of it.Some of it are total fails,but some are quite funny.

This app is far from perfect,but judging from the fact that it was created in eight hours,this is pretty impressive. Hopefully there will be more development on this in the weeks and months ahead.

Why I want an iPad

So now, after all the explanation, why do I want this iPad?

i.Well, cause I don't have the money to buy an iPad, Galaxy Tab or any other Tablet for that matter after already spending a bomb(for my standards) on my HTC Droid.

ii. Convenient to carry around!As an IT student, my work involves alot of computers, so I need to always have one device that can be connected to the internet for research and general lookups.Also a laptop is too bulky,and since most of the classes are in ICT labs,there's not much use for the laptop and an iPad would certainly be more convenient.

iii. With an iPad, I can help test all the latest "jailbreaking" technology for iPads and post up more tutorials for my readers concerning iPad technology tips.

iv. (this one must write lar) To own an iPad would be an honour to Steve Jobs, because this particular iPad,was launched by him. iPhone 4S also, not that special, cause it wasn't launched by him. ='( So by getting this iPad, I'd have a piece of his technology.^^

v. Easier to stalk people than with my phone.The pictures on the iPad are bigger and the maps are also bigger,so no need scroll scroll too much to view..haha

vi. I very kiamsiap one lar, want iPad,but don't wanna spend money on it.Got people giving it?SURE WANT!haha

Free iPad Scam

Recently I noticed a sudden spike on Facebook, in the number of posts such as this;

THIS IS LINK ABOVE A SCAM! I REPEAT, IT IS A SCAM AND WILL RIP YOU OFF!

Here's the list of known sites with this bogus offer;

Now you ask, "Why is it a scam?Who knows the guys at Apple are giving it out?".

Right, seriously?Apple giving away free products??

Here's why it is a scam;

Once you click the link, it brings you to this page;

Why it's bogus;

1. You have to share it (which in turn gets more people to unknowingly share it), this is how it spreads.

2. You have to comment and it's posted to your Facebook profile.

*this part of the scam is to make sure that it is passed on from user to user.

Now after doing the above, it takes you to the so called "Registration" page...

"Pay close attention to the camera on this supposed iPad2, notice that it's on the centre?And it's also a picture of the first iPad,not iPad2!"

This is the usual screen you see on scam pages where they ask for personal information. This information is usually used to send spam mail and offers to you or your mobile phone is subscribed to some text campaign that you're made to pay per sms received.. These scammers usually take you on the "scenic route" for these registrations as you are brought through multiple pages of registrations and submission of info. These personal information is stored by scammers and they can harrass you not only by Facebook,but also through e-mal,snail mail or even texts or telephone calls.

So, what to do if you've fallen for this scam?

1.Remove the post from your profile/timeline in Facebook
2. Try to trace if it was posted or sent to any friends.
3. Reset your password just for safety purposes as you may never know if the scam was also a clickjacking that might make more posts later on.
4. Check with Apple for their official promotions, if this is not listed,this is a scam
5. Check the Facebook Security page on how to detect a scam
6. Warn your friends about this scam, share this article if you're too lazy to go through the gory details!..

R.I.P Steve Jobs

The creator and man who brought you the Mac, iPod, the iPhone and the iPad, Steve Jobs passed away at the age of 56 today.For those of you who don't know who Steve Jobs is, he's the co-Founder of Apple, founder of Pixar Animations Studios and also a Walt Disney board director. So if you think he could have just impacted us with Apple?You're wrong, without him, we wouldn't have Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Cars and many more..

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," the company said in a brief statement. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."

For those who do not know, Steve was battling pancreatic cancer since 2004.Apple announced his death without giving a specific cause

Even though I'm not a fan of how his products are all "uncustomizable" to a certain extent, his ideas were still brilliant, and no one could have ever thought of it in the same way or at the right time. R.I.P Mr.Jobs, hopefully Apple survives without you, and hope it's all good up in the iClouds. ;)

Facebook Timeline

So, Facebook recently released their new "Timeline" feature to developers to try out, it looks something like this.

So now, you the average Joe or Jane are wondering, "how do I get it if I'm not a developer?"..Simple, become a developer! How? Well follow this tutorial very closely then.
THIS PROCESS CANNOT BE UNDONE!

First and foremost, go to to https://facebook.com/timeline and click on "Sign Me Up"

Next, go to https://developers.facebook.com and click on the "Apps" tab.

Alternatively,you could search in the Facebook search box for "Developers" and it will take you straight to the "Apps" tab.Either way is fine.

You should get a page that looks like this.

Click the Create New App button.

A screen will pop out, and fill in the fields with whatever you want.For the app namespace, no dashes,spaces or capital letters.(Not all namespaces can be used, as some may already be taken,so choose a unique or total bullshit one that no one would have taken.)

Once you're done with that, it will bring you to a screen as below. Fill in the form,only those fields, and then click "Save Changes".

After submitting the form,a security check will appear.

Then after that, navigate to the "Open Graph" tab on your left.
Fill in the form as such and click "Get Started".

On the next page, just click "Save Changes and Next"

On the page it now brings you to, click "Save and Finish"

If you have followed all the steps,you should see something like this at the top of the newsfeed..I don't think I need to tell you what to do with this now do I? =)

Stereotyping.Do we know what it means? A stereotype is a popular belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. Basically it means lumping a certain group of people into a category and judging them based on that.

It's like saying, all Asians are smart. But then again, are they ALL?

Or saying all blondes are dumb. But then are they really ALL the same?

Or saying that if you're dressed well and look smart, you're smart? So everyone in a white labcoat and some clipboard in hand is smart?

Maybe this video done by SPLOOSH of St.Michael's Institution might help you on this topic.
Facts are always raw, and it is all about making it interesting. ^[1] In videos, you can use the tone and style of the video to get the message across effectively. I think this video got the point across pretty well.

My 2cents worth about the video?

Awesome,totally awesome. Though the part of Eva being so short was a wee bit exaggerated, but still it was amazing. Message delivered across to the audience, plus good camera angles. If I hadn't known better I'd say it was professionally done by some bigtime vlogger. It just shows, people in our everyday life,can just be extraordinary.

Truth is, most people stereotype others because of their own insecurity or ignorance. Other times it's just them trying to show who's better or who's boss. That's why to me,this video portrays all that. So give others a chance! Don't take everything at face value, then, when we stop comparing others and judging them,can we be truly happy.

Have a nice day ahead and congrats to SPLOOSH, the team behind the video.You guys deserve it.

10 Years ago, The WTC Attacks

About 10years ago, on the morning of the 12th of Sept 2011(Since America is technically a day behind), I was woken up by my mom in the morning with,"Wake up, wake up! Come see the news! The terrorists have bombed the twin towers!!".My First reaction was that that someone had bombed our Petronas twin towers, since I had literally no knowledge of the world at that time(I was only 10!),and to me,the only twin towers was the one in Kuala Lumpur!

But turns out, it had been the World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York that had been hit by two jet liners within quick succession.With American Airlines Flight 11 crashing into the North Tower and seventeen minutes later, United Airlines Flight 175 hitting the South Tower. In about 1½hours,both towers had collapsed due to heavy structural damage by the crash and also weakened by the fires.Out of the thousands who were trapped, only 20 were pulled out alive to tell the tale.

This year, being the 10th anniversary of the attacks, construction of a memorial at ground zero has been completed. Ground Zero as it is had been termed all this while has been renamed to the 9/11 Memorial by New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg. The Memorial site will be launched on Sept 11, EST.For the first time, the names of all 2,982 victims of the tragedy will be read, including those from the Pentagon and on Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania, as well as the six victims of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

So let us not forget this dark day in history, may we be American or not. Because, this, can happen to any country anywhere we allow it to happen.

So tomorrow is independence day? How many of you actually feel the, well, Independence Day spirit?
Brief history lesson for those who are foreigners or those who never gave a crap about this;

"Hari Merdeka (Independence Day as it is known in the Malay language), is a national day of Malaysia commemorating the independence of the Federation of Malaya from British colonial rule, celebrated on August 31. In a wider context, it is to celebrate the formation of Malaysia.

The effort for independence was spearheaded by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, who led a delegation of ministers and political leaders of Malaya in negotiations with the British in London for Merdeka, or independence along with the first president of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) Tun Dato Sir Tan Cheng Lock and fifth President of Malaysian Indian Congress Tun V.T. Sambanthan. Once it became increasingly clear that the Communist threat posed during the Malayan Emergency was petering out, agreement was reached on February 8, 1956, for Malaya to gain independence from the British Empire. It was decided that the official proclamation of independence would only be made the next year, on August 31, 1957, at Stadium Merdeka (Independence Stadium), in Kuala Lumpur. "

Remember when we were all kids in primary school? We used to be so happy when it came to Independence day,decorating our classrooms.Then waving flags while singing patriotic songs? Well, somehow or other,that spirit sort of died off after a few years right? Well some carried on right through to secondary school,but sooner or later after we left school, we just didn't have any more affection for our country right?

Most of this is due to the stupid things happening around us; what the govt is doing and all that.You readers are well aware of it.However, most of hate the government, but that shouldn't cause us to hate the country as well! Patriotism is love for our country and not love for our government! We are Malaysians, not Malays, Chinese or Indians anymore. Only then can we move forth. The men in power want to undermine and create chaos among us, we must not waver, we must show them we are better than them.Don't let a bunch of politicians define our country!

Tips on how not to get wasted

Now, most of us drink,whether to the point of being totally drunk and wasted or just being tipsy, it depends.

However, many of us are always wondering, how to drink more, without getting wasted.(No you can't avoid getting at least a bit tipsy.)

Well here are some tricks and total bullshit,that might work at keeping you from getting wasted at the end of the night, or not. *I'm not responsible for anything that happens and I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ADVISE YOU TO OPERATE ANY MACHINERY OR AUTOMOBILE AFTER DRINKING.

#10 Mix your drinks with a non alcoholic mixer.
Mix your "Hard liqour" with stuff like coke, tonic, soda water or even ice to dilute it,thus you seem like consuming more, but in actual fact it's just more diluted stuff.But well, if you're not one for taste or don't give a crap about the authenticity of the drink or are just drinking to impress someone,then go ahead.

#9 Fill a non-Alcoholic drink into an Alcoholic drink bottle(this is to trick people that you can drink a lot)
As lame as this seems, sometimes, especially at weddings,when you have to drink at each toast someone makes,this might seem a viable option. You can substitute the contents of that bottle of Jack for some Chinese tea(make sure you filter it properly of tealeaves and only you drink it, or people will call your bluff) or any similar coloured liquid.

Ok, while #10 and #9 were how to not get drunk by fooling people with faking the alcohol consumption or diluting it,
#8 does not require tampering with the alcohol.

#8 Eat greasy or oily food
As silly or fattening as this may sound, eating greasy food actually lines your stomach with a protective layer of oil,this inhibiting or slowing alcohol absorption into the bloodstream.Hence this will increase your drinking capacity.

#7 Drink neutral fluids
Try to consume fluids like water, juice and such that aren't alcoholic, to maintain a balance in your bloodstream. However it may require you to make frequent trips to the washroom and also make you feel bloated.

#6 Moderation
Take drinks in smaller quantities at a time.Instead of chugging a whole bottle of beer in one go, try a glass at a time.Or maybe resort to shots instead of glasses of whiskey or vodka. Don't try to be a hero and finish off more than you can, you only end up looking like an idiot.

#5 Bread/Grains

Some people claim that by eating bread or any other products of grains, you will sober up as the bread will "soak" up the alcohol.However,there is one great flaw to this theory, alcohol is absorbed to your bloodstream. So even if the bread soaks up the alcohol,it's still gonna come all back out when your stomach breaks down the bread..So for this one, I feel you guys should just give it a pass..

#4 Follow the rule, dilution, hydration, urination.

With dilution being in #10, hydration in #7 and urination,well you all know what that is..So yea,just follow this cycle, and it should keep you sober longer and reduce the effects if your hangover. =)

#3 Get your groove on!

Since alcohol is absorbed through the bloodstream,this might actually work.Dancing or doing any other moving activity can make your body sweat and does reducing the effects of the alcohol.If you don't believe me,try it yourself, it might just work.

#2 Don't mix different alcohols.

This only applies to certain people.Cause some people are intolerant to mixing of alcohol.They can drink like a fish,but provided it's the same alcohol the whole time.Yours truly is an example of it.So if you can,avoid mixing alcohols,cause this can cause different reactions in different people and also different reactions with different mixtures of alcohol.It's somewhat like Chemistry..haha

#1 Know your own drinking threshold.

Always know how much you can actually drink.You should already determine this after 1-2 drinking sessions. Because nothing is worst than crossing that threshold and getting wasted, and photos of you appearing the next morning on facebook..

Now this is not by any means a factual write-up, this is just a random post that suddenly popped up into my mind. Some of the numbers,what they say are just pure myths.So do take this post with a pinch of salt. I know, it's been a long time since I've updated.~~Well, you see, I've been rather busy lately and I had no mojo to blog~~.Owh well, I just don't know what to blog about and am too darn lazy to think of what to...haha..Ok fine, not funny..

So I've started sem 2 of my course already, and we're learning HTML this sem.See the first class was a breeze, I was like;

But then, I realized;

So many of the HTML tags that I had been using for years, are actually deprecated, might not show formatting on certain browsers,and have been replaced by newer tags!

Just goes to show how amateurs can never be as good as those who actually studied it or as up to date as those who practice it...

Ok, enough with that not awesome part.

So,the past few days, I've been watching the series, How I Met Your Mother(HIMYM). Well I gotta say, it's kind of an awesome show,not to mention funny and, legend...wait for it..DARY!!..haha.. I like Barney Stintson(played by Neil Patrick Harris), though he's a jerk at times, I think he's pretty cool.

Last Saturday, the 9th of July 2011, was a historical day in Malaysia's modern history. BERSIH2.0 or The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections took to the streets of KUALA LUMPUR in a peaceful march for electoral reforms in Malaysia. Their actions were however outlawed by the government who gave contradicting statements, and the Police Department,banning it altogether and even going to the extent of banning 91 individual from entering KUALA LUMPUR city center.

People still came,and they thronged the streets by the millions! All they wanted was fair elections, they came in peace,they did not fight or charge at the police.But instead,the police charged straight for them,trying to scare them off! No one was spared, old,young, women or children,all were pelted or shot with tear gas,sprayed with water cannons, beaten up or worst, arrested!

Even this lady(Anne from Setapak), one whom many bloggers have blogged about, for her remarkable spirit, was not spared.Though she came in peace,with even flowers,she was still shot with a water cannon and had to endure 4 rounds of tear gas.IS THIS HOW THE RAKYAT SHOULD BE TREATED?
Anne should be a source of inspiration for all who seek justice, that OUR SPIRIT CANNOT BE BROKEN!

She said this to people at the rally, "Why do we have to feel so scared (and threatened) in our own home land.. and by own countrymen?"

Is this what we stand for?Is this what the police were given the duty for? To attack peaceful protests?To come charging at people on the streets like they're chasing livestock?

Statements and claims made by the media and by ministers:

1. The rally was a failure

Millions of people turned up! The memorandum was finally handed to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong
(though the police,not even respecting him, tried to prevent him from receiving it)

2.The protesters were violent and broke their promise of a peaceful rally.

Owh,they were peaceful,much more peaceful than the police in fact!

However,the mainstream media decided to publish only photos like this;

3.Najib said “Police had also used minimum force and there was no actual physical contact with the demonstrators,”

Do these two images show minimum force or no physical contact?

His head was covered to hide evidence of the beating he received from police

4. The police handled the matter swiftly and with professionalism to avoid trouble.

It was more like they started the trouble by blocking the crowd's path and opening fire on them with chemical laced water and tear gas.

Now, these videos tell things better than how I've illustrated above. If you've been following the latest developments in the cyber world, then you must have heard of Google+ and how eager everyone is to try it out.This is because it's currently in a test mode where only invited users can try.Invites can be obtained from users who are already part of Google+. They look like this;

Now, what is it all about? Let's take a look at the layout of it.Basically there's four tabs, home, photos, profile and circles.

Profile page

Home is your home page where you view activity, the photo page is where you view your photos or friends photos.

The Circles page is like your contact groups where you group different people into different circles.

Then there's also this neat feature called sparks that allows you to find your interests and people who have the same interest too!

I'm seriously running out of ideas on what to blog about.So I decided to talk about these two phones that I might possibly get sometime soon. Here's a comparison of the HTC Incredible S and HTC Sensation.

HTC Incredible S

It might not be much differene, but a Dual core,make a world of difference..The only problem is, it will cost you a RM300 more as it's RM2299 for the Sensation compared to the Rm1999 for the Incredible S.

So if you're one of the many frustrated Malaysians who has been affected by the recent ban on the 10 sites listed by the MCMC, then this tutorial is for you.

Let's be honest, for most Malaysians, sites like Megaupload or Fileserve, besides illegally downloading software or movies, can be great ways of storing your files online and letting others download files that they want from you.Be it an assignment, a plain document or something that can't fit into the 25MB limit on emails.

So now, on to the tutorial.

Step #1: Open Network and Sharing Center

Step#2, Click on "change adapter settings"

Step#3 Right Click and select "properties".

Step#4 Select the "Networking" Tab, then "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "properties".

Step#5 Select the "General" Tab and fill in the spaces exactly as below, click save and voila! All those 10 sites? They work!!!

*Preffered DNS server: 8.8.8.8
*Alternate DNS server:8.8.4.4
This is achieved using Google's Public DNS server.

For those who find this all to tedious, don't worry, the good folks at thepiratebay.org have heard your pleas and have created malaysiabay.org (No hacking or editing settings required) specially for those affected by this crackdown!!

This tutorial today is for Windows 7 only.I'm to lazy to update on other OS..sorry..But, hope this helps solve your woes over this issue...Till next time..

The past? AssBlaster

Now, most of my gamer friends might know that I go by the name AssBlaster when playing team games or online first-person shooter games like Call Of Duty, WolfTeam, Left 4 Dead and so on. But how did this name "AssBlaster" come about? Well, here's how;

It's actually a combination of:

A semi-auto shotgun

and

A game of Counter Strike

Well, it started after the final exams in 2007.When St.Michael's Institution Prefect's Home Affairs Commission decided to host a gaming tournament for Counter Strike and D.O.T.A. So me and a bunch of friends, I think it was Li Xing, Sing Yih and I can't remember the number 3..haha..

Well so it started of like this. I was playing the first few rounds as, morrisalex. Then there was one round where I did this,

I snuck up on an opponent, and,

BOOM! Opened fire on his ass..

Hence,the name stuck, AssBlaster, throughout the whole tournament and till today..

Lets see, if I had gone and done this,

Aimed a little higher and came from the front,

And pulled the trigger, I might have been known as HeadBlaster.. Don't sound that catchy eh?

And had I done this, I'd be known as sniper man?haha..

All in all, I might seem good with a sniper in these games.But what I'm actually good with, is a shotgun..So don't you come around that corner not anticipating a boomstick or walk around without looking back,cause the AssBlaster just might be there waiting for you..=D

Michaelangelo's Pizzeria and Beyond

Today was, as Andrew put, "Sweet Bye & Bye" day celebration for me and my sister as we will be leaving next week to start our further education courses. He took us, Patrina and Esther to Michaelangelo's Pizzeria that's an "Authentic American Wood Fire Pizzeria".(Was Patrina's suggestion..haha)However, it's non-halal.So not a place you would want to have your department annual dinner in,unless you don't have anyone who has a problem with non-halal food..haha

So, Osama's dead?After 10 long years.Just because you kill the cause doesn't mean you cure the symptoms or the one's infected after it..You wanna end it? you have to cure the whole epidemic.For now,when you wake up tomorrow they'll be even more relentless in their search for "INFIDELS".So to the world and America, do not waver,do not let down your guard, cause that will be the moment these extremist are waiting for!

To kill a man like Osama, is no big deal to this extremists.Because you see, you kill him today,there'll be another one to replace him tomorrow! For years their distorted views on Mujahideen or Jihadist ideology has been spread, how many have been influenced? As someone said to me, "10 freaking years. Enough to raise an army of Osamas."

Then now, is it really Osama that the Navy Seals shot? That's the question many of us pose. Images released by Pakistani press below and also used on CNN are actually fakes as they've been photoshoped(See explanation below). So that leaves one question and only one question, is he really dead??Yes, he is, only the photo was faked.But the ID on the body in US custody hasn't been identified positively as Osama Bin Laden.

The analysis

At point #1, you can see that the picture quality between the lower and upper half are not equal.

At point #2 you can see that the nose from the upper part and lower part are not matching,they're slightly off centred.

At point #3, you can see that his beard is actually growing on his ear downwards..

Overall analysis, the wounds do not seem like gunshot wounds, they seem more like from an IED explosion or grenade shrapnel.Since at #3,his eye seems bashed in.

Also, if he was shot in the head as reported,he wouldn't have much of a head left, considering the weapons the Navy Seals use.

A tale of nasi lemak and canteen food

recently most of us must have noticed the articles in the newspapers regarding the new rules and guidelines for school canteen operators. According to the ministry, foods such as burgers,sausages and nuggets are banned, while foods such as nasi lemak, can only be served twice a week. And oh yeah, no Ice cream too!

Say goodbye to that burger, you'll never be eating it in school again after next month.

Nasi Lemak? Twice a week only,wonder which two days will it be "Nasi Lemak Day"? hmm

And especially, no more whacking an ice cream or two on a hot day!

Students are all supposed to be good kids and eat bread, or other "healthy" food either from home or from the canteen itself..

Their goal?To prevent obesity it seems!

But then again, what's to stop the kids from eating all this junk at home?Or outside of school? Because,technically they only spend a very small fraction of time in school.Roughly 1 or 2 meals at most in school per day.The other 3-4meals?I doubt that's under the jurisdiction of the ministry.Their parents are the one's who should be educated and the restrictions should be imposed by them,not the schools. Because if parents EDUCATE their children from an early stage,they will know how to judge between what food they can eat regularly and what they should only eat occasionally.No food is bad,only if you take it in uncontrolled amounts,then yes.
So tell me, where is the rationale in all this when these kids are gonna end up like fluffy down there anyway??

All I can say is, I thank God that this all came about after I left school,so I had the blessing of getting to try all the yummy food that awesome food court of SMI had to offer..=D
