I'm mostly happy at the turn out in Wylie today. There is one person I wish wouldn't have come out to see me...the City employee who organized the event. The same guy who asked us to rack up a tab for food at another Wylie event this past July and never payed. The same guy who received an email and invoice and decided to ignore it.

(Maybe he thought because I was nice to him early this morning, that I forgot, but I didn't.) The same guy who threw a huge fit today in front of our Paying customers when he came to my window, asked to start another tab, and when I told him I wasn't going to do that since he nor the city ever payed what he/ they OWE us. Yes.

A GROWN man, a city of Wylie employee, threw a very loud and very embarrassing fit in front of my trailer. Such a fit, that customers who witnessed it later asked me if everything was ok and if I was ok. Of course I was. I've had to deal with some characters in my time with La Rosita BUT, I have never had to deal with such an irate human being in front of customers.

I just Thank God for helping me hold my tongue and my composure the way I did, because it was not a pretty site and had the potential to have gotten a lot worse had he caught me in another setting.

He tried and tried to bully me.....with no success. He didn't realize that behind this smile that he initially received with his antics, is a strong woman, a business woman who will not be intimidated by anyone, let alone a man. A woman who isn't impressed by anyone's social status or job title and no matter what he thought he was trying to prove today, he was still shut down and put in his sorry little place.

Sorry. Rant over

There are so many great survey site and there are a few junk sites. I've had my run in with both types.
I'm glad to say that I've slowly weeded out the worthless survey sites and have been working hard with just a small handful of survey sites.

Some people think that survey sites are a scam. Well, they aren't. what they are is very selective.
Think about it this way, survey sites are sending out surveys to people who will make a difference in the marketplace. Business 101 tells you that companies do lots of research before they market their products to the general public. So what does this tell you? It tells me that companies are looking for people who will spend money. It's really that simple. So what kind of people spend the most money?

Well, in my experience, parents of young children seem to be the target demographic for many companies. They want to sell us their newest toys for Christmas, for children's birthdays, and for any other special occasion you can come up with. And its not just toys, it can be clothing, greeting card and even websites.

You sit back and think about that for a moment. Do you fall into a purchasing bracket in any of those categories? If so, I have one of my favorite survey sites for any resident of the United States.
Click the link to get started. Give it a try, its free to sign up and it's free to participate, which any reputable survey site should be. YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER PAY to take ANY kind of survey. Remember, these companies need your opinion, you don't need them!
We had our last food truck event of the fall last weekend and it was a blow out!
No, really, Our food truck had a tire blow out on the way home. I was so scared to leave the trailer out in the country side in the middle of NOWHERE, TX!

We made a 45 minute drive home to pick up the spare, then a 45minute drive back to change out the tire, then another 45 minute drive back to home base. Needless to say, we were beyond exhausted by the time all was said and done. So tired, that the hubs and I called it a night by 9pm! Seriously? 9pm? Yes, 9pm on a Saturday night. You'd think we were senior citizens. Thankfully, we have a couple of weeks off to recover before our Christmas events begin in early December!

If you haven't had a chance, please find our food truck and give us a like on FACEBOOK at www.facebook.com/larositatacos
My two youngest kiddos broke my favorite coffee mug this weekend. I was a little sad and tossed it into the garbage without thinking. I didn't think about what my mornings would be like without this fabulous mug, until today!
Today I made my usual Monday morning pot of coffee. As it was brewing I thought I'd wash the dishes. I don't like doing the dishes by hand that early in the morning, but how else would I get to my favorite mug? I finally got the last dirty fork washed and rinsed when I realized that I hadn't seen my mug, so, I went to the living room and looked in two of my favorite spots. The sofa is where I lounge and watch tv, and the side chair where I like to sit by the window to read. The mug wasn't at either spot!
I racked my brain trying to figure out just where it could be, when all of a sudden it hit me.
Oh the horror as I sat down to compose myself, then I replayed the incident in my head.
My 7 year old wanted to help put my mug in the kitchen, well being the ever competitive duo that she and her 3 year old brother are, they began to struggle to grab the mug out of my hand, and that's when it happened. My mug hit another glass that my daughter was holding and it shattered.
That was it. That was the last time I got to hold that beautifully made ceramic mug.
It kept me warm many a cold morning, it brightened my day many times. It lived its short 4 year life with me in pure happiness. At the very least, I can say that Senor mug lived a very full life.
May you rest in pieces Senor Mug. I wish I could say I'll find another one as good as this, but I'm sure I wont, but sure will try, after all, I'm still going to need my coffee and every one knows a lady needs her big, hot cup of Joe everyday.

Ebola, enough already!

Well, I know by now you have all heard your share of news on the Ebola virus that has entered the United States. I'm also pretty sure that many of you feel the way I do when I say...How the heck could this have been allowed to happen? I live in a suburb just outside of Dallas.
The fear we all felt and some still feel in the North Texas area is REAL!
Yeah sure, we've all been told all the ways you can NOT catch the virus, but then we see infected nurses fly on airplanes or infected doctors decided that even though they feel a little sick and have been around Ebola carrying people, that its perfectly ok to go bowling the night before they check into the hospital. And well, there's nothing to worry about, but wait, entire buildings are being quarantined, entire flight lists are being searched for and being watched.
Look, I'm not an alarmist actually, my fear is not really even the disease itself, it's the miscommunication and disregard that I've been noticing from the healthcare workers and government entities. We just need a set of rules that will keep all who work with Ebola patients under some kind of blanket of rules and restrictions that THEY MUST FOLLOW! Oh, it's great that they want to save the world, one Ebola patient at a time, but what's not good, is that all these health care workers are taking their knowledge and health for granted and that they couldn't possibly be posing a risk to the general public. Well, how about this, DON'T take that chance with us. You put your own health at risk, that's fine, that's your choice, but I didn't chose to save the world and cure Ebola! I don't want you to expose me or my children, or anyone in my family. How do we know that you didn't poke your nose or rub your eye before you grabbed that bowling ball or door knob?
Just stay home, if you end up being cleared and healthy, then great, join us as we fly to and from Dallas. Join us as we take our kids out to bowling alleys, OTHERWISE, stay AWAY.
I think its safe to bet that I speak for the general public when I say that we would rather be safe than sorry!
I absolutely hate this neighborhood. I wish more than anything that we could move to a home with a great piece of land where we can park our food truck and not worry about our parking spot, or our Home Owners Association. Wait, I didn't mention how much I hate our HOA? Oh. Well, yes, yes I hate our HOA!
We pay quarterly fees to an HOA, just to drive around our neighborhood and see rotting fences, abandoned foreclosures, lawns that need so much maintenance that the lawn company who would contract that home would become rich!

I wish we could move, its just not possible right now, but, I'm not giving up hope!
Ugh, and that was my Monday morning vent!

I found the song I lost over 20 years ago!

I'm excited! There is no other way to say it. I almost don't have the words for this post, so bare with me as I try to navigate all the thoughts that are running through my brain right now.

I have a friend who is going through a horrible horrible time in her marriage and there isn't much I can do for her. Seriously though, what would anyone do for a friend who finds out that her marriage is over.... and over because of infidelity? What do you say to one who is so shattered that she can barely eat? So shattered that she can only imagine herself sleeping and never waking up.
As her best friend, I feel helpless and useless! All I want to do is fix this for her but I cant.
There isn't anything I can do but listen to her, be her shoulder, and most of all pry for her.

Her soul has been crushed by the man she loves. He betrayed her and their children!
If I could, I would most definitely punch this SOB in the throat! Of course I cant, but that doesn't stop me from wishing I could!

The only thing I can think of now, is how grateful I am for the marriage that I have. The great husband that I have. Grateful that our worst arguments are over with in a few minutes maybe an hour at the most. Our pain and sadness from mean words or angry tones has nothing on this soul crushing evil that my friend is having to endure right now. NOTHING!

Thank you lord that I don't have to feel that kind of pain. Lord, please help her find her way to you, she's sinking into the darkness and I can't let her slip away. Help me help her.

Please check out my newest advertiser.
Some people love them, and some people love to hate them. When I first started trying my hand at coupons, I was doing <strike>awful </strike>ok. Seriously, I had my ups and downs. By the time I finally gave up on couponing, I had felt defeated. I wanted so badly to contribute to my family, financially, and since I'm a stay at home mom, saving our family money was and is important. Having a budget and understanding that as the primary shopper, it is my duty to spend wisely.

Now when I gave up coupons, I didn't give up looking for bargains. I also shop at places like Walmart and Target to get the best deals. I would buy name brand from
Time to time, but more often than not, I bought store brand items. Many people are afraid to buy store brand food items. Let me tell you, they are nothing to be afraid of. They are just as good and many times taste identical to the name brand. In fact, many store brands are manufactured by the name brand company, only the label is different.

There are some things I will NOT buy store brand, and that's Cheese and breads. I figure with the money I save on other store brand items , I can afford to spend a few cents more on name brand cheese and bread.

Lately though, I've started trying my hand at saving with coupons. Let me tell you, it's been awesome! And best of all there are so many ways to save on groceries, especially if you have a smart phone.

I'll list some of the ways to save here and a a special facebook page where my niece is the newest couponing queen on the block. She's really scoring big with her savings and now she's helping others do it as well. She's actually the one who inspired me to et back to couponing.

The list of saving site goes as follows;
You have the Walmart savings catcher. It's a web link that you sign into for FREE, no smartphone needed and enter the receipt number at the bottom of your receipt, and then Walmart does the rest of the work. They check your purchases and check their data bass of your surrounding stores, they then give you the difference of any product that is selling for less at nearby stores. Saving you those extra driving miles , as you go from store to store trying to save that dollar.

The next one I enjoy is the Target Cartwheel app. Now this one you must have a smart phone to use.
Download their app and start exploring the savings that are listed very nicely in the app. You can find savings on almost anything in the store. Savings are anywhere from 5%~ 50%! And if you go to customer service and get a target red card, that can be linked to your checking account with no hidden fees, and best of all you can save an additional 5% on all purchases. To make shopping at Target while using the cartwheel app more interesting, you can stack paper and mobile coupons on top of what you are already saving to get triple the savings!

Let's say, you see cereal on sale on the cartwheel for 5% off, then you add your (paper) manufacture coupon for $1 off, then you add an online coupon for another $1 off, your potential savings can be unbelievable! You could potentially leave that store paying only a few cents or better yet, nothing at all! It will take a small amount of prep work and a tiny bit of planning, but if it means getting a box or two of cereal for .50 cents or less, then I'm all for it!

Next, you have to check out the ibotta app. It shows you certain products available for discounted purchase at stores in your area. You chose the products you want to purchase in your next shopping trip, you unlock the discount by answering one trivia question, or reading one fact about that product or something related to that product. Then you go shopping, you make sure you purchase the goods you clicked on, then take your reciept home, scan it with your phone through the app, and submit it for approval. Once aproved, you will accumulate savings and once you accumulate a certain amount of money you can cash out!
It's that easy!

There's so much more to write as say about these fabulous ways to save, but it's midnight and I need my beauty sleep, and typing all of this from my smartphone, may not have been the smartest choice on my part. So please excuse any typos. I had a lot to say, and only a tiny screen on which to write it all.

By the way please Find her facebook page at

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Giselas-Couponing-Page/599025440217931

Thank you all!!

Look for more post about the money I've been making in surveys lately!

I just got paid $60 to paypal from a certain site! Seriously though, I'll have to save that for next time.

Do you want to win? Enter this raffle for your chance at $75 worth of goods!

Recently, My sweet cousin Gisela, who is also a huge fan of a certain couponing facebook page, started couponing. And let me tell you, She is amazing at it!! She has racked up so much loot that she is running out of room in her closet and pantry.

She started a couponing page to help out women in my old neighborhood. Her goal is to help and teach many of these women who come from very low income families to save when they shop.
She has been doing it for a few months now and was getting quite a few request for her to start a facebook page so that her information would be easy for them to access.

Now that she has her page and her abundance of loot, she is thinking about starting off a good 'ole fashioned raffle. The raffle item will be a basket full of loot (home goods, make up and some toiletries). The raffle entry will be just $1 per entry, up to $5 for 7 entries.

All one has to do is like her page and follow the instructions that she posts. The money she raises will help her earn money and hopefully help her build smaller baskets to give away to needy families in her town.

Please go find her page and like it on facebook. Find it at this link

I also hope you all take a chance and enter for your chance to win. I'll post the winner here!
Good Luck!

What a fiesty kid I have

I'd like to meet the person that coined the phrase "Terrible two's" because I'd like to as them where they ever got the idea that the twos were terrible. My toddler is three and I have to say that by far, the three's are a pain in the ass!

He is so smart, he asks so many questions, he's always ready to answer any of your questions. He's charismatic, he's beautiful, he's perfect but, he is definitely a pain in my ass. HAHA. No but seriously, he is so smart that he knows just what to say to contradict anything I've told him. He loves to argue his point. He argues so much that we cant help but laugh at his crazy little remarks. We know that one day he will be an amazing attorney.

God, I love my little boy!

I know others who have lost their children prematurely. Some have lost their children to cancer, some to premature birth, some to miscarriages, and some to terrible accidents. Two women I know had the unfortunate and very heart breaking opportunity to give birth to a still born baby, then have to put on a smile for their other children as they buried the baby they carried in their womb for nine months.

I on the other hand was able to bring all three of my children home, and for this I thank God every day. I dare not take for granted the gift God has given me each time. I will just keep answering my sons never ending questions, I will try my hardest not to get angry when he responds in defiance. I will continue to hold back my laughter when he says a curse word that he undoubtedly learned from me.

I will love him and every fiber in his little being until the day I die and into eternity.
My children, are my life, their beauty and their flaws.
(Giggling as I type) I ask him over and over what he's talking about, but he just says the same thing over and over. I've asked him not to say it when we're out in public, but he does. He's said it loudly in the toy section of the store, he'll say it in the car. The girls' eyes always pop out of their heads as they hold in their laughter when he says it. Can any one guess what he's trying to say? Because up until a minute ago, I seriously thought he picked up a curse word somewhere... There are no summer time blues invading this house, in fact there will be a joyous uproar that will permeate through the entire house. Then we will sleep in, we will swim, we will cook out, we will camp out, and we will eat ice cream until our brains freeze! YES, we will enjoy this summer, enjoy it with every fiber is in us.
The end IS near. The end of another school year that is. My freshman will be a sophomore this coming school year, my 1st grader will be in <strike>college</strike> 2nd grade next year and my baby boy, well, he'll be home with me again. He does go to preschool twice a week, but for the most part it's just he and I.... just him and me...just me and him...

Have I ever mentioned that he is our last baby? Well, he is, so its sinking in that my stay at home days are numbered. This coming year I am going to spruce up my resume and hopefully get my self together to reenter the workforce in the next couple of years.

I say that but, I'm secretly hoping that my food truck becomes a full time gig so that I don't have to work for some one else. I love the freedom that our weekend gig provides, but, its hard not having weekends open for birthday parties and the like.

hey, but I'm not complaining. I'm just venting. For now the resume sprucing will be on hold, because...well...because it's summer vacation time!!
Even though we our target customer base is the American consumer, from time to time we do get a nice amount of Hispanic customers. Many times the predominant language our Hispanic customers speak is Spanish. This got us to thinking; we think that we may need a bi-lingual menu.

We like to keep all of our customers happy and we like to make their visit to our food truck as pleasant as possible, and if it means translating their food options, then that's what we aim to do. Thinking about accommodating all of our customers got me to thinking about other companies and how they approach translating their menus or information for their consumers. So I did what anyone who is awake in the middle of the night would do; I started surfing...the web.

As I was surfing, I ran into a great website that offers translating services for all types of businesses. Rosetta Translation for worldwide translation services could be one of the most helpful web pages I have run into yet. Rosetta Professional Translation services offers translation in many different languages; from Arabic, Bulgarian, Japanese, to Swedish and Thai. They also offer business contract translation, Braille translation, Medical Translation, Engineering translation, and Technical translation just to name a few.

After looking through their very informative website, I couldn't imagine how any company wouldn't use Rosettatranslation.com as their translation service agency. I highly recommend that business owners look into this website. As diverse as the business world is, having your company communicating properly and efficiently with the rest of world is a must!

Spring cleaning!

We, or I should say I, have purged all unused toys and out grown clothes of all three of my kids. I sold some of the things on a facebook group page and that worked out pretty well. The stuff that wasn't fit to sell was given to our local shelter and thrift store.

I've also started the deep cleaning. I have a long way to go though. We have tons of windows and that means tons of blinds to clean.

I did buy myself a Rubbermaid spray mop. It's pretty darn awesome. I can wash and reuse the rag multiple times a day and don't have to worry about the swifter wet jet disposable pads you have to constantly buy. You'll be amazed at how much more dust and dirt the spray mop picks up, even after you have just swept. Yikes is all I can say about that! This will be our 3rd full year in the food truck industry and we couldn't be more pleased. I knew we would do well, but I ha no idea how popular we at La Rosita tacos would be. A friend of mine recently noticed our popularity and invited me out for coffee one morning, she wanted to talk business.

As we sipped on our coffees we talked about both our businesses and how happy we are to be self employed. There is no better feeling than being your own boss and setting your own hours. The food truck business is not glamorous at all, but it's a job that my husband and I do with pride and so does my good friend. She isn't in the food truck business though, she is in marketing and she shared with me a really neat piece of information that I think is too valuable to keep to myself.
She told me about a website called Listgiant.com.

It's a great resource for people trying to market their business to a large amount of potential clients. This website provides literally, giant lists of potential customers so that business owners can further their company in the market. It's such an interesting site and if you have your own business and are looking for a way to reach more consumers by the simple click of a button, then you should check out Listgiant.com

Funeral of a Dallas Firefighter

This is my 300th blog post. I had wanted to make it fun and funny, but today I thought I'd share with you what my family and I did for Presidents' Day 2014. We paid our respects to a fallen hero. A firefighter who died in the line of duty on a busy ice covered bridge in Dallas. Fireman Tanksley will be remembered fondly by so many, and this procession just adds to all the good that one thinks of when they think, firefighters or first responders.
Apparently she swallowed her tooth at lunch. She bit into her apple and, well, down it went. She was convinced that the Tooth Fairy wouldn't bring her anything if her tooth wasn't under her pillow.

How do you handle such heart break? Well, you do what I did, I told her to write a note and just tell her the "troof" about what happened. Lol! Maybe she'll understand. How could any Tooth Fairy resist this? This is the letter she wrote and put under her pillow for the tooth fairy.
Turns out that after giving birth to my youngest child (3 years ago) I gave my self an umbilical hernia. It wasn't a large hernia but it required open surgery and boy oh boy was and is the recovery painful! Having any type of abdominal surgery is tough. Your abdomen is your core, its what you use everyday and don't realize how much you use it, until you cant use it any longer.
It's definitely something to consider when you are planning for your surgery. Make sure you explore all of the surgery options available. I did not. As your doctor what choices you have. I did not ask my doctor, I wish I would've!

And now for the Cancer news. Two of my aunts have been diagnosed with cancer. The aunt who I am closest to was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer and it's sounding like she is going to have a long and very rough road ahead of her. She's going to need lots of medical attention and probably even medical supplies. Needless to say, I got online right away and started looking at all of or at home medical care options. I found a web site that offers an ultra sound kit that she is wanting to purchase called http://www.lgmedsupply.com/. They've got complete ultra sound kits with gel so you don't have to do multiple purchases.

For those of you looking for muscle stimulator machines, lgmedsupply.com carries a variety of those as well. As of right now, we aren't sure how many different machines my aunt will need but we know where to look. I hope you don't have to deal with this, but if you do, please check out the website.
This morning I noticed that my little girl (6 years old) kept tugging at her t-shirt making it ride up high on the back of her neck. I asked her why, she said because she doesn't want people looking "at it" ( it being the one inch, perfect circle, dark birthmark she has on her back, right above the shirt line. Her eyes started to tear up and I asked her why she cries about a birthmark that God created? I asked her if anyone makes fun if it, she said no ...but they always ask her what it is. She said she hates it. I asked her, would you tell God to his face that you hate what he made and that he messed up?

She said no. I told her that through out the history of the world, the circle was and is the symbol of never ending perfection. She stopped crying. I showed her all of the birthmarks on my arms, some of which match hers perfectly. Then I left it alone for a minute, and at the bus stop I asked her if she's ok now, she smiled and said yeah. Just to make sure, I asked her what's on her back, she said with confidence "a perfect circle." Mission accomplished. She's armed now, armed with knowing that she is perfect just the way God made her.

I've skyped my kids while in the same house, and even in the same room but, tonight, for the first time ever, I/we just Skyped with my parents in Mexico. I can't even begin to explain the amazement and joy we all felt for that half hour. Sure, the holidays were nice, but I missed them tremendously. Lord knows how badly I needed to hear their voices and see their faces. — feeling loved.
