The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is a great car and RENNtech, an American aftermarket specialist, has come up last month with an equally great modification kit – the ‘C74′. A new exhaust from Akrapovic has a video presentation that shows the potential of their creation that has a 43 pound/19.5kg reduction in weight. The titanium Akrapovic exhaust of the Power War fighter gives a torque output of 12HP and 16lb-ft/21.7Nm to boost!

The modifications with the new exhaust included in the C74 pack are Full Carbon Fiber Widebody Kit, Front Splitter, Rear Spoiler, and Rear Diffuser integrated Exhaust Tips. It also has Nitto INVO Performance Tires, 275 / 30 / CR 19 for the Front and 305 / 25 / CR 20 for the Rear, mounted on 19 x 9.5″ Front and 20 x 10.5″ Rear – Signature 3 Piece Forged Aluminum Wheels, respectively. That’s for the exterior.

For vehicle performance modification it will be the following: RENNtech ECU / TCU Software Upgrades; Carbon Fiber Airbox and High Performance Air Filters; Custom Air Inlet Panel; 82mm Throttle Bodies; Modified Ported and Polished Cylinder Heads with Upgraded Camshafts with Stainless Steel Headers. Add to that Sound and Performance Pipes, Fully Adjustable Sports Suspension, 100% Locking LSD, Stage 3 Braking Package, Fully Adjustable Sports suspension and Carbon Fiber front and rear stabilizer braces.

I-opener: AMG ends all speculations on Pagani C9′s powerplant

Sometimes, you just have to nip expectations or speculations in the bud to tame people’s over-excitement down before they grow out of proportion. Otherwise, you’re going to have a lot of disappointed fans out there who’ll be less than interested in your new toys. That is why both Mercedes-Benz and Pagani decided to make it clear to everyone out there that no—the up-and-coming Pagani C9′s V12 engine will have absolutely nothing to do with the current V12 that’s rocking the SL65 AMG Black Series. Although it’s AMG that is solely responsible for developing the engine that’s going to rid each and everyone of the Pagani C9′s competition, the tuner was quite steadfast saying that the engine they’re working on was something borne out of a Mercedes engine, and not necessarily something similar.

To end all rumors, AMG says the V12 that resides under the Black Series’ hood is capable of 670hp and 730lb-ft. That motor is a hyped up version of the V12 that’s powering the base SL65 AMG. The engine that’s screaming from behind the C9′s cockpit? That’s not the same engine, or any derivative of the aforementioned engines whatsoever. It’s totally different, and that is where their statement ends? So we’re all pretty much left guessing what it really is. But does it really matter once you’re inside the C9?

Iranian Engineer Designs Extreme off-road Mercedes Concept

Siyamak Rouhi Dehkordi, a renowned engineer from Iran, has let his imagination loose and created a Mercedes-based Hexawheel concept. It is an extreme off-road automobile that a flexible frame and six wheels layout with Mercedes-Benz design.

The concept vehicle caters to the discerning needs of individuals who need to travel to extremely difficult conditions and treacherous terrains. There’s more to the concept than just an eccentric design. Hexawheel features a flexible frame that provides it with a massive 46 cm ground clearance enabling it to conquer large obstacles with ease.

Dehkordi’s vehicle shape reflects symmetrical angular shapes. Further, it uses a complex hydraulic system for vehicle operation which involves a diesel engine attached to a flexible hydraulic power transmission system.

The all-wheel drive concept has a total length of 4.8 m featuring two wheelbases with a length of 0.95 m each. Ironically, the extreme Hexawheel concept is inspired from the associated structure of an insect’s body. Yes, you read that right. Consequently, the vehicle’s weight can be evenly distributed among its three axles.

The creator, a 35 year old Mechanical Engineer, is an employee of the Iranian car company Saipa-Zamyad. This is not the first time he has come under limelight. Earlier in 2008, his Ferrari Zobin design was well received and was viewed more than 16,000 times online.

“I wanted one from this particular era,” Casadia said of his ’59 model. “I bought it sight unseen. I drove it for six months, then I started restoring it.”
To this day, he said, “I drive it all over. I even drove it here.”
Here, of course, was the second annual “Strictly Corvette” show at the Atlantic City Convention Center, where ’Vette lovers from across the country have come together to celebrate the legendary Chevrolet sports car in all its forms.

“This show is pure Corvette,” said showrunner Kenny Shaw, of New Orleans Avenue in Egg Harbor City. “Even to be a vendor, you must have Corvette-related items. We probably turned down 200 booths.”

club from Vineland, sharing the 300,000 square feet of space with about 275 Corvettes.

Bugatti unveiled the Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu, an exclusive, one off Grand Sport, honoring the marques precious heritage. Instead of applying two paint colours or paint and material to highlight the two tone design the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu exclusively concentrates on materials, particularly carbon fibre and aluminium.

The Pebble Beach car is blue carbon fibre with polished aluminium. The visual carbon fibre is tinted in royal blue to emphasize the refined volumes and surfaces of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. The rear airscoops are tinted in the same nightblue to fluidly integrate into the overall design philosophy of this unique model.

The rims are inspired by the Grand Sport Roadster and are highlighted in a Midnight Blue and Diamond Cut two tone finish. The interior is trimmed in a newly developed Gaucho leather, which blends with exterior materials to better create a harmonious overall appearance..

On 11 September 2007, a special version of the Veyron called the “Pur Sang” (French for “thoroughbred”, literally “pure blood”) was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The only difference from the standard Veyron is the body finishing: the Pur Sang has none, revealing the Veyron’s pure aluminium-carbon fibre body, with just a clear coat protection. Production of the Pur Sang will be limited to five cars, which will have high-gloss aluminium roadwheels with a diamond cut finish.All 5 vehicles were sold on the day of release.

AMG Driving Academy Includes Two New Cars!

Mercedes-Benz today debuted the availability of two new AMG cars in its Driving Academy exclusive to AMG cars. The E63 and the SLS Gullwing will be included in the Academy’s driving events, and particularly in the PRO, the PRO SLS AMG and the Masters Sports Trophy training , the SLS can also be used as a hire car.

Ace drivers Bernd Schneider, who won in the ITC, the DTM and the FIA-GT, and Bernd Maylander of the Official F1 Safety Car, will serve as instructors in the Academy. Emotion, Basic, Advanced, Pro and Master skill level students will learn how to safely drive the AMG cars while pushing these to the limits of their design and construction.

Tracks used in these sessions include such vaunted race tracks as the daunting Nurburgring North Loop and Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps which is part of the Grand Prix series. Participants can also expect to drive in the AMG Winter Sproting in Arjeplog, Sweden where the cars will be specially fitted with tire spikes for better grip on the all-ice roads. For its American audience, the AMG Driving Academy will race its students across the west coast’s Laguna Seca Raceway.

Participants are expected to pay at least $383 for inclusion into the AMG Driving Academy.

AMG was founded as a racing engine forge in 1967 under the name AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (AMG Engine Production and Development, Ltd.), by former Mercedes engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in Burgstall an der Murr, near Stuttgart. The letters “AMG” stand for Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach, Aufrecht’s birthplace (but at no time an AMG location). In 1976 most of AMG moved to Affalterbach, with the racing engine development remaining at the old location in Burgstall. At this time Erhard Melcher ceased to be a partner, but continued to be an employee at the Burgstall location.

In 1990, with AMG having become a high-profile purveyor of modified Mercedes cars, Daimler-Benz AG and AMG signed a contract of cooperation, allowing AMG to leverage Daimler-Benz’s extensive dealer network and leading to commonly developed vehicles (the first one being the Mercedes-Benz C 36 AMG, in 1993). On 1 January 1999 DaimlerChrysler, as it was called between 1998 and 2007, acquired 51 percent of AMG shares, and AMG was renamed to Mercedes-AMG GmbH. Racing engine development was divested and continues to exist in Burgstall under the name HWA (Aufrecht’s initials). On 1 January 2005 Aufrecht sold his remaining shares to DaimlerChrysler, and since then it has been a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Hurst Performance Vehicles, one of the most recognized and revered names in automobile history, unveiled the first-ever Series 4 Supercharged 2010 Hurst/Hemi Challenger, dressed in the signature silver and black Hurst colors at the “Back to the Bricks” celebration in Flint, Mich.

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 has been a welcome arrival for many muscle-car fans. Willing to overlook its hefty weight for the old-school looks and meaty Hemi power, they’ve already purchased just about every car scheduled to be made for the next year. But Hurst wasn’t content to leave the Challenger alone, and has decided to prep a high-powered version complete with a collection of Hurst accessories available soon through Dodge dealers.

The range kicks off with the Challenger Series 2 R/T, which is listed at $18,350 and pumps the 5.7L HEMI V8 to 352hp (263kW) and 408lb-ft (553Nm) of torque. In addition to the power upgrade, the package also comes with a Hurst ‘Hard-Drive’ shifter, 20in polished and forged wheels, custom graphics and badges, Goodyear Eagle F-1 performance tires, a Magnaflow stainless steel cat-back exhaust system, a K&N air-filter, Eibach coil-over suspension and leather trim.

For owners of the 6.1L Challenger SRT8, Hurst offers a Series 2 package that is listed at $17,450 and boosts output to 437hp (326kW) and 438lb-ft (593Nm) of torque. The rest of the package includes the same items as the Series R/T kit.

The all-new 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic is a real ‘blast from the past’ with vintage flair, modern styling and engineering. It combines the original Dodge Challenger R/T styling with a new 375hp 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine, Tremec 6-speed manual transmission, ZF-Sach’s twin disc performance clutch, rack & pinion steering with a performance gear, sport-tuned, fully independent suspension, dual exhaust, while riding on 20X8in. high-performance tires and alloy wheels. Inside is a modern, comfortable cabin with vintage accents. Dodge has taken the all-new Challenger to new heights of styling and performance.

“A Blast From The Past”

One look and you’ll recognize the old muscle car styling with the long raised performance hood with dual working scoops topped with the original HEMI badge at each side. The recessed egg-crate grille sports round dual headlamps, Challenger and R/T badges, a lower air-intake, a wide splitter to help keep the front end solidly planted on the pavement and functional design elements to direct air around the front end to further improve aerodynamics. From the side a bold A-line or character line runs from stem to stern and jumps over the rear wheels as on the original Challenger giving it an instant recognizable muscle car profile. Door mounted side mirrors from the original, Challenger fender badges, bold, full-length, double black side R/T graphics, and a cast metal fuel door with ‘Fuel’ is also taken from the original R/T.

The rear is also reminiscent of the original with a recessed full-perimeter ‘blacked-out’ brake, backup and tail lamp clusters with a clear Dodge in the center, a full-perimeter spoiler on top of the end of the trunk lid, a straight, flat bumper and rectangular, polished stainless steel dual exhaust tips nicely spread down below.

The look is as original as it can get as some people I spoke to had to make a ‘double-take’ as they thought they were looking at an original Challenger from 1971.

Under the skin of the car is where modern automotive technology takes over and gives the Challenger R/T world-class power and handling capability. Under the hood lies a reworked 5.7 liter HEMI V8 utilizing Dual Variable Cam Timing, dual spark plugs, a higher compression ratio and performance-tuned dual exhaust system to increase horsepower from last year’s 340 to today’s 376hp at 5,150rpm and a massive 410lb.ft. of torque at 4,300rpm. The sound of the dual exhaust is thrilling, throaty, and music to the ears of any muscle car enthusiast.
