I stayed in a cabin nestled in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. It was quite beautiful, and very relaxing. For once I was overjoyed to get away from technology and just spend a few days in the calm, quite outdoors. The only thing I brought with me was my phone, and thankfully so, as I never would have found the cabin without it's GPS. I caught myself checking my phone numerous times over the course of my vacation for updates on my favorite gadgets, but I forced myself to put it away in my bag and I really had a great time.

Today

I'm going to be perfectly honest, I want one of these. Not to use, mind you, to sit on my mantle as a conversation piece. This thing makes me laugh. It's a Motorola Droid 2 designed to look like everyone's favorite star wars character, R2-D2. Motorola had to strike a deal with George Lucas to even use the name Droid (that's right; Lucas got the exclusive trademark to the word "Droid" back in the 1970s). But not many people realize the Motorola-Lucas relationship. It's currently availabe, and retails for $599.99 off contract, or $249.99 with a 2 year service agreement. This is quite literally the nerdiest phone I've ever seen in my life...and I want it.

Absurd phone is absurd

This thing: Exclusive: Samsung Continuum for Verizon is possibly the most ridiculous spectacle of cash grabbing I have ever seen in my life. I see all these things I want to share with others, but I never really had an outlet until now. Anyway, that's boring and you don't want to read that. I love anything and everything that involves technology, so naturally when I see someone that has no idea what they're doing with it in this day and time, I get annoyed. One of the things that really gets on my nerves in this fantastic time we live in, is the fact that people can't speak into their cell phones at a normal volume. I'm sure this isn't the first time anybody has ever said this, but when I can hear you clear across the store as you carry on a normal conversation with your significant other about what's for dinner....something's wrong. Another thing that I don't particularly like is when someone who has no business using a smartphone(i.e., people old enough my grandparents) and they expect to be able to talk to me every day for on demand tech support. I was fine with this at first, it was good to see them moving into the current century, but now it's gotten extremely old(HA). The moral of the story here, kids, is that if you don't know your way around a computer, avoid it like the plague, because the people that do don't want to help you figure out how to open your email 27 times a day.
