Go Pistons!

2026-05-16T17:15:50.481-04:00

Ok Pistons, this is it.

You worked hard all season, you came a long way to get where you are

You don’t become the # 1 seed in the Eastern Conference for no reason.

Show them what true grit, hard work is really made of!

Crush Cleveland!

Then, now, forever, GO PISTONS!

Food’s a human right.

Everybody deserves to have access to food.

Today’s World Food Day.

When most of us get hungry, all we have to do is go to the kitchen to get something to eat.

Many of us can also get groceries, go to a restaurant or order delivery.

There are some who don't have that luxury.

Whether hunger’s halfway around the world, or next door, it affects everyone.

1 in 6 Americans go hungry.

Around the world, 773 million don’t know when their next meal will be.

On the side of this site, are some links to organizations that are working to eradicate hunger.

By getting involved you are helping others.

You can also find a local food bank or charity and donate there too.

Thank you for paying it forward.

Kittens Or Tigers

2025-10-11T02:11:00.002-04:00

Once again the Tigers blew another ALDS series.

They were beaten by the Mariners in Game 5 of the ALDS.

The score after 15 innings was 3 - 2.

What many thought would be an easy victory turned into another reason why the Tigers can’t seem to progress.

I just don't get it.

How can a team that had a great season and a favorite to win the AL wind up blowing it.

What went wrong?

Is this any way to be a winning team, by letting diwn and dashing the hopes of Tigers fans.

I'm well aware that the team still needs to clean up their messes.

I also know that we made some bad moves in games and crapped out in the second half of the season.

How can a team that had one of the best records in the AL, blow it after the All Star break.

We can never go back to having losing seasons or blowing leads like game 5.

There's no reason for it.

Fans deserve much better than this.

Ok, I admit getting Cy young award winner Tim Skubal and Jack Flaherty back is a step in the right direction.

I'll also admit that the baseball season is a marathon, not a sprint.

I'll also admit that AJ. Hinch's no Sparky Anderson or Jim Leyland.

He's also not Alan Trammel who led the Tigers to their worst season in 2003

Is it the Tigers fate, that they wind up losing.

If the Tigers don't learn from their mistakes next season, tighten up their defense, they can kiss their chances of winning the AL good bye.

Hopefully it won’t be decades before we can call ourselves World Series champs!

Go Tigers, Sink Seattle

2025-10-04T17:22:00.003-04:00

Ok Tigers, this is it.

You worked hard all season, this team has come a long way.

Show them what grit is really made of!

Beat the snot of Seattle!

Then, Now, Forever, GO TIGERS!

Go Lions!

2025-01-18T16:46:00.003-05:00

Ok Lions, this is it.

You worked hard all season, this team came a long way from 0 - 16 in 2008 to 15 - 2.

You don’t become the # 1 seed in the NFC for no reason.

Show them what grit is really made of!

Beat the snot of Washington!

GO LIONS!

Tigers Declawed By Cleveland

2024-10-12T20:43:00.007-04:00

Once again the Tigers blow a chance to advance in the playoffs.

The good news: the Tigers went to the playoffs and swept the Houston Astros.

The bad news: the Tigers blew another close series.

They were beaten by the Guardians 5 - 3 in Game 5 of the ALDS.

What many thought would be an easy victory turned into another reason why the Tigers can’t seem to progress.

I just don't get it.

How can a team that shut out Houston in the Wildcard game and lead the ALDS series by 2 games, f*** it up so badly.

What went wrong?

Is this any way to be a winning team, by letting down your fans.

I'm well aware that the team still needs to clean up their messes.

I also know that we made some bad moves in games.

This is the first year without slugger Miguel Cabrera on the roster too.

But we can never go back to having losing seasons or blowing games like game 4 of the ALDS.

Fans deserve much better than this.

Ok, I admit getting Cy young award winner Tim Skubal is a step in the right direction.

But trading pitcher Jack Flaherty to the Dodgers was a bonehead move too.

Is it the Tigers fate, that no matter how hard they try, they wind up losing anyways.

If the Tigers don't learn from their mistakes and correct their course next season, there’s no hope of being in the playoffs again.

Hopefully it won’t be another 40 years before we can call ourselves World Series champs!

Wanna make a difference for our country?

One of the many ways to make a difference is to vote!

In 2024, Americans will go to the polls to cast their ballots.

All throughout the year, states will be holding elections to select candidates for president and other offices.

They will also be voting on ballot proposals too.

One of those states holding elections is my state Michigan.

We’ll be holding our presidential primary on February 27th, 2024.

The polls on Election Day will be open from 7 am. - 8 pm.

If you’re still in line to vote at 8 pm, they have to let you vote, stay in line.

Also remember the front and the back of the ballot too.

Thanks for being the difference.

Lions Not Ready For Prime Time

2024-01-28T23:46:00.002-05:00

Here we go again, Lions blow another chance to go to the Super Bowl.

The good news: the Lions finally have a winning season.

The bad news: the Lions blew another close game.

Once again the Detroit Lions are proving why they’re not ready to be an elite team.

They were beaten by the 49ers in the NFC championship game 34 - 31.

What many thought would be a Lions much needed victory, turned into another reason why this team can’t seem to progress.

I just don't get it. How can a team that had a 12 - 5 season, and be leading 24 - 10 in the 1st. half, f*** it up badly in the 2nd. half.

What went wrong?

Is this any way to be a winning team, by letting down your fans once again.

I'm well aware that the team still needs to clean up. I also know that we made some bad moves in some games.

We can never go back to 0 - 16 or 2 - 14 seasons again. Fans deserve better.

But come on, we should have won.

Ok, ok, the hiring of Dan Campbell & Jared Goff is a step in the right direction.

Is it the Lions fate, that no matter who we get or how hard they try, they lose anyways.

If the Lions don't learn from their mistakes and correct their course next season, then there’s no hope of making a Super Bowl or be Super Bowl champs.

Hopefully it won’t be another 67 years before we can call ourselves NFL champs!

Prayers For Dejan Milojević

Prayers, thoughts, peace for the loved ones of Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic.

Dejan left us on January 17th, 2024, after suffering a heart attack while having a meal with the team.

Dejan was a player in Serbia and Turkey teams before retiring in 2009.

He will be dearly missed.

Santa Kitty’s Coming To Town

2023-12-23T02:14:00.000-05:00

Santa’s not the only one who has been making their lists and checking it twice.

I’ve got a naughty & nice list when it comes to sports in Detroit.

Here’s who deserves a visit from Santa & who deserves to be left with a lump of coal.

Nice: Lions head coach Dan Campbell.

Dan and his staff took a losing team and turned them into contenders with a 10 - 4 record and the Lion are now the NFC north division leaders

Naughty: Tom Gores and the Pistons.

The Pistons have the worst record in the NBA Eastern Conference 2 - 26.

Their season smells worse than Rudolph’s’ leavings in Santas’ back yard.

It’s like they forgot to how to play basketball.

Or have they just given up trying.

The games are not even fun to watch anymore.

Nice: The Wolverines

The Wolverines have a perfect season and once again are Big 10 Champions.

They’re also in the running for the NCAA championship.

If they defeat Alabama in the Rose Bowl, they’ll go to the National Championship game.

Naughty: Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

He served a 3 game suspension earlier in the season because of a recruiting violation.

He served another suspension do to an alleged allegation that his staff was stealing signals from the opposing teams sideline.

Naughty & Nice: Lions Players.

Let’s do the nice side first.

Like I said earlier, the team’s 10 - 4 and they’re on the verge of clinching the NFC North division for the first time in decades and make the playoffs.

The players have worked hard, played and won tough games.

On the other hand, they blew games they could have easily won including the game against the Packers on Thanksgiving Day.

The 1st. half of the game was brutal to watch.

Nice: The Ford family.

They finally got the right Lions coach and staff.

There’s no going back for this team.

No more 0 - 16. We fans have waited long enough for the Lions to be good.

Please don’t f*** this team up anymore, don’t blow it!

Naughty: The Tigers.

Although they ended the season 2nd. in the Central division, the team still had a losing record.

Even with a new manager and Miggy still on the roster, the team still couldn’t get it together to have a winning record.

At least the season wasn’t as bad as the 2003 season.

Nice: Miguel Cabrera

For 15 seasons, Miguel’s been a thrill to watch as a Tiger.

Whether Cabrera’s been winning batting crowns, hitting homers or making the AL Allstar squad many time, he’s been thrilling to watch as a Tiger.

Although he retired at the end of this season, he’ll still be with the Tigers in the front office.

Naughty: MSU football

The Spartans were 4 - 8 this season.

They also had a scandal where the head coach was fired because of a sexual harassment allegation.

The coach allegedly harassed a consultant who was hired to talk to the team about sexual harassment.

The coach allegedly made unwanted advances to her.

Soon 2023 will be over and it will be history.

Hopefully 2024 will be better.

Detroit’s one of the best sports town, period.

We’re loyal.

We love our teams through thick and thin.

It’s never a dull moment in Detroit sports.

Prayers For Willie Hernandez

2023-11-26T18:52:00.005-05:00

Prayers, thoughts, peace for the family, friends, former teammates of Tiger legend Willie Hernandez.

Willie passed last week from natural cause, he was 69.

The Tiger pitching legend was part of the 1984 World Series champions Detroit Tigers.

Willie also was MVP and a Cy Young award that year too.

Willie will be dearly missed.

From Bad Boys To Worse Men

2023-11-15T14:16:00.068-05:00

The late Bill Davison would be turning over in his grave if he knew how bad the Pistons have been lately.

2024 is the 20th anniversary of the Pistons 2004 championship season.

Davison who was team owner at the time, won his third NBA championship when the Pistons defeated the Lakers in game 5 of the NBA Finals.

They went to the Finals again in 2005 and were defeated by the San Antonio Spurs in game 7.

The team also won back to back championships in 1989 and 1990.

The last time the team won in the playoffs was in 2008.

They were eventually defeated by the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals in game 6.

The Pistons last appeared in the 2019 playoffs when they were swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1st. round

The Pistons currently are in last place in the Eastern Conference and are 2 - 10 in their current season.

The last decent season was the 2018 - 2019 when the Pistons were 41 - 41.

They’ve lost their last 9 games so far in this season and were defeated on Tuesday by the Atlanta Hawks 126 - 120.

The last game they won was on October 27th, 2023.

What happened to this team, why are they so bad?

I know we don’t have the same roster or the team personnel when they were good, but they haven’t improved from last season when they were 17 - 65 and last in the Conference.

Even with a new head coach, they still can’t seen to get their act together as a team.

Could it be their defensive or their offensive schemes that needs improvement.

Could it be their team and group dynamics that needs work?

Or is it early in the season for the team to have time to improve?

Or are we cursed by the NBA gods to be stuck with a lousy team?

We may never back to the way the team was, but we can learn from that era.

Hopefully the team can get back to being good and fun to watch again.

Jim Harbaugh Fumbles On Sideline Gate

2023-11-10T22:16:00.191-05:00

Jim Harbaugh has fumbled as head coach of the Wolverines.

This time the coach is under fire after an alleged cheating scandal.

Harbaugh was suspended for the rest of the regular season after he allegedly violated the leagues sportsmanship policy.

Harbaugh has already served a suspension earlier in the season because of a recruiting violation that occurred during the pandemic.

The football program was alleged to have conducted an in-person scouting operation.

To simply put, the Wolverines are accused of stealing sidelines signals from opposing teams.

If there was cheating, why was it allowed and how many teams have practiced it and not caught?

If there was cheating, what kind of penalties besides the suspension should he or the Wolverines get?

If there was cheating, why didn't the NCAA do more to prevent it?

And why wasn't there protocols put in place so there's no possible way of cheating.

Even if the alleged cheating never took place, there will still be some doubts about the Wolverines.

Once trust is lost, good luck in ever getting it back.

Even if the Wolverines & Harbaugh are punished, the damage is still there.

If the NCAA & the Big Ten wants to recover from this, they need to do a better job of cleaning up their act.

They need to have stiffer penalties in place for those who cheat.

They need to keep a better eye on the sidelines.

They should also have better safeguards in place so that it never happens again.

Then maybe many can enjoy watching the Wolverines & college football once more.

Say it ain’t so, Miguel Cabrera is retiring from baseball.

This weekend is the last series and home games of Miguel Cabreras’ career.

The World Series and 4 time AL batting champion, 12 time MLB All star, is retiring this year as a Tiger.

Miguel began his career as a Marlin and played the last 15 years as a Tiger.

Although he will not be playing baseball on the team, Miguel will still be involved with the Tigers.

Miguel will be a special assistant to the general manager.

Thank you Miggy for being a Tiger, for thrilling baseball, giving Detroiters hope and a reason to cheer.

Baseball will never be the same.

2023-02-11T17:04:00.002-05:00

Prayers, thoughts go out to the nation of Turkey and the Middle East who are suffering from a devastating earthquake on Monday.

The 7. 5 magnitude earthquake left thousands dead, and many are still under rubble.

The earthquake which took place in Turkey could be felt as far away as Syria and Israel.

The earthquake has devastated families and left many without basic needs that we sometimes take for granted.

While we can't prevent the earthquake from happening, we are not totally powerless.

Thank you for making a difference.

MLB Lockout Hurts Everybody

2022-03-10T00:19:00.003-05:00

Spring means different things to many people.

Some look forward to longer days, warmer weather.

Some look forward to flowers blooming and birds singing.

Some see it as a chance for renewal, a new wardrobe and to start their spring cleaning.

And some look forward to watching their favorite baseball team back in action.

With the way the baseball lockout is going, we might not be able to see opening day of baseball until the middle of spring.

The lockout’s approaching it’s 100th day which began on December 2nd, 2021.

The lockout started over the owners disagreement with the collective bargaining agreement with the players union.

The players union has been in meetings with the team owners as of this week to save the entire 162 game season.

Despite making some progress, talks have broken down.

The players and team owners agreed to a higher starting salary for players but disagreed on an international draft.

The owners want the international draft, but the players union doesn’t.

In response to missing the deadline to keep opening week games, the league postponed the first two weeks of games including opening day on March 31st. 2022.

The team owners action doesn’t just hurt the players, it hurts many including fans.

From stadium staff, players, team staff, vendors who sell team merchandise, media outlets who broadcast games or writers who cover baseball, bars and restaurants around stadiums, many depend on game day to make ends meet.

Even team owners are affected by the lockout.

I know it’s only a couple of games missed.

But if there’s no games, there’s no revenue coming in.

Without revenue, families will be hurt financially.

And don’t forget the fans who go to games, watch it on tv, watch online or tune in to games on the radio.

Fans watch games, go to games, buy team merchandise, frequent bars and restaurants around stadiums.

Watching the game on opening day is a ritual for many.

It brings hope for the new season.

It’s a bonding experience for many and a rite of spring.

Hopefully they can get a deal done and we can all enjoy baseball again soon.

He will be dearly missed.

Politics And Sports Meet Yet Again

2021-10-30T23:52:00.001-04:00

Once again sport and politics meet.

The NAACP sent a letter to professional sports leagues asking them to urge upcoming free agents, players not to sign with Texas teams.

The letter came in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott signing strict anti abortion and voting laws that many see as oppressive, draconian.

Professional leagues and the NCAA should do what’s right, take a stand against the abortion and voting laws.

The leagues should pull events out of and not do business with Texas.

The new abortion law would limit the amount of time a woman can get an abortion, up to 6 weeks after conception.

It would also create a bounty by allowing a person to sue the person who helped a woman get to an abortion.

The strict voting laws came after Republican losses in the 2020 presidential election.

Texas along with other GOP led states passed voting laws.

The laws restrict options how voters can cast their ballots.

Texas Republicans argue the voting laws would make elections more secure.

However many see the abortion and voting laws oppressive to voters and women and minorities.

Abortion was made legal by Roe vs. Wade in 1973.

Many Texans made their voices heard by voting in 2020. Many Texans voted absentee.

Republicans ought be ashamed of themselves.

What they’re doing is going against everything that America stands up for.

Voting is a right. Citizens want and deserve to be heard.

By passing these laws, Republicans are proving they don’t give a damn about Texans.

The laws are restrictive, abusive, disgusting and dishonest.

We all want fair, honest elections.

We all want to see our democracy thriving.

The opportunity to vote should be expanded, not restrictive.

One way to do that is by expanding the right to get an absentee ballot and voting opportunities, not restricting them.
