Amateur Photographer - Why Deny?

No 'S'-ull 'B'-hit! I neither have formal training nor attended any workshops to know how a good photograph needs to be composed but sure have read a lot from the 'professionals' that, "you need to know what you want to capture in order to be a good photographer."

I am one of those new 'Photographers' that are cropping up everywhere. Just coz I could afford to buy one DSLR, (trust me, I still forget what it stands for) I did and what was the 1st pic I post of myself?

I started to capture random things around, learning to use it with some quick tips from my valuable friends. Surprising though, is the fact that no matter how good a photo I clicked, I had the urge to edit it to make it more presentable (can be read an amateurish work). Not that it changes the whole picture, but definitely adds new dimensions to it. I have seen people who barely use editing, yet have captured stunning pics (still need to learn that skill). As mentioned earlier, I need to visualize and know what I want to capture before I click it - guess I still lack it.

I think I lack genuine creativity and need 'inspiration' like how Bollywood makes movies inspired from Hollywood. I search the net for what I want to do and then try to replicate it, the best I can.

You may notice that most of my pictures posted are not stunning, at best, they are good. Call me slow to learn the art, I'll agree. Hopefully I haven't been a completely bad photographer. If you wanna look at my work and leave a comment, sure do. I'm open to inputs from other homo-sapiens.

Apple bash - The American Pie (LOST?)

Remember the Apple pie that is used by Jim, the lead character in the 1st movie of the 'American Pie' series? Well that's exactly how Apple is today; bashed - like it was in the original movie - for their crappy iOS6 Maps.

The fact that it dumped the world's best mapping service for a personal ego satisfaction, in the process releasing one of the worst mapping service ever and leaving millions of people lost is plain stupid and fun for people like me who enjoy the Android Services.

The social media and the news is full of people complaining and NO, they are not Apple haters but the 'fanboys' themselves, who worship anything that Apple releases; terming them best in the world and 'innovation - like no one else.'

Apple's decision to dump the Google maps and opt for it's current version was personal and had nothing to do with facts; meaning, neither was the google maps faulty nor did they have a better update to those maps. They just did this to satisfy their 'alter ego.'

I read some where and I completely agree that Google shouldn't release an App for Apple just yet, so they realize their mistake. In the mean time, let the 'fanboys' cry and abuse their 'Apple GOD' why did they deserve this 'innovated' piece of crap.

UPDATE: "Google wont be coming to the rescue of iOS 6 users who miss its Maps service, at least not any time soon" - Executive chairman Eric Schmidt.

His company has no intention to develop a dedicated app of its Maps service for iOS 6, Schmidt said at a Tokyo press event on Tuesday, Sept 25.

At a time when every small decision changes the future course for these large companies, hope this decision doesn't cost Apple a lot in the long run. Not to mention that Apple maps doesn't support Public transport. What about all the large cities and people who constantly rely on them? Well, as the image above says, Apple assumes that "All iPhone users drive BMWs" - unfortunately, NOT TRUE.

Unpredictable life of a Consultant

I met a friend in a local grocery store about 8 months ago.

He asked, "When did you come from Rochester (NY)?"

Apparently, I told him and almost every one I know that I'll be leaving to NY in September 2011. Little did I know that I was going to stick around longer than that (overstayed by 10 more months.) Blame it on my company that never told me when and where would I be moving to until it was time to, I was told to be prepared to move when I was told to. (Rochester, Atlanta, NJ, Virginia Beach; these were some of the places I was asked to be prepared to move to.)

Neither did I move to Rochester nor was there any other place decided to move to. Every now and then, I came across people who asked when was I moving and the answer was always, "soon."

Those who've known me as a roommate..have stopped asking me "when?"; because they hate to hear me say 'soon.' I found a couple of roommates to replace me and in the process bade goodbye to a couple of them who never might have thought will leave VA.

The so called 'soon' never came till last month and when it did it came fast like a bullet. Today I stay in NY and look back at those days when I said 'soon' and realize that 'the day' arrived much sooner than I knew it was coming. I was given 3 days notice to move to Brooklyn, NY and I wasn't sure myself until I actually moved here.

Today, those of you who still think that I'm in Fairfax; no, not any more. I'm in Brooklyn, NY and yes, I finally moved.

8 years of an unfulfilled wish..

7 years ago, I was not legally of age to drink and it was prohibited but I knew it was only a matter of time when there would be no restrictions. I once promised my friend (*1) that I'll only drink the best of the available brands (read as imported/ foreign maal.) This was back in 2004 and 7 years later, I haven't yet fulfilled his wish. He cursed, requested and challenged me to taste it, but I haven't done it and don't think will do it.

As the days have passed since then, I've made friends with more people who drank socially than who didn't. It was in 2006 that a very close friend of mine started to consume it and he was unsure of his capacity. Even a mild quantity of booze was sufficient to lose his senses and talk funny stuff. During on of these small parties, (as we'd call them then) *1 consumed a limited quantity of his favorite wine mixed with a larger quantity of some cola that made him a mini villain. He chased, hunted and bashed another dear friend (*2) who consumed a more stronger version of the same drink but was well with in his senses. *1 wanted to bash (not the rough kinds but with LOVE) *2 for some funny reason that I don't recollect today.

Another incident that I very vividly remember was when it was *1's Birthday and he arranged for some hard drinks at the regular hangout place and gulped down a glass or 2 of it. I realized what a POWERFUL drink it was on that day. It made him do things he had no control what so ever. Some secrets that will not be revealed with out his permission.

Time passed and I came to USA and was greeted on the very 1st day with a large crate of BEERS :) I politely denied but I was told, I quote, 'it's okay..no one will tell any one.' I refused not because I was scared of any1 but because I didn't want to. The rest of my friends, who arrived with me consumed a can of it out of modesty :) Although I never really drank or tasted any of the brands of beers, vodkas, wines or tequilas, I kind of knew what was what and which one tasted better than the other..and what combinations made them taste better..all thanks to some of my good buddies who kept me posted on such information and still do.

Surviving parties without consuming at least a small peg is very hard and your best friends make sure you never go home without sipping at least some. They say so many nice things to you and when you give in, they are happy they have one more to add to their company and are offended if you don't. It used to get really hard when *1 was around coz he wanted me to keep my promise.

The best thing I love about these booze parties is the food they have and the interesting discussions that follow a peg. Some of the reasons why a non-drinker is shunned from attending a booze party is:

1) They don't drink. (Bad)
2) They don't have the courtesy to wait for their friends to drink. (Very Bad)
3) They don't know the rules to be followed. For instance:
(a) They are not aware that you're not supposed to put their glass down after a 'Cheers'. (Worse)
(b) They are not aware that you're supposed to wait for at least one round of drinks before you can hog on the food. (Dirty fellows ignore this although they know it..so Worst Fellows)

4) They eat all the wonderful stuff prepared or bought so that they cud enjoy while drinking. (Again Worst Fellows)
5) Last but not least. We are not wasted so our soberness might ruin the general mood.

On a positive note, I promise my friends that even though I do not consume, I thoroughly enjoy your discussions and parties. I'm as excited as you just by the smell of the booze from your glasses. Lets have more parties and more booze in these winter days. :)

Technology GIANTS at WAR!

As the Title states, I'm going to talk about the Technological War Zone (a mini World War for the mobile Technology). In the last couple of months, I've seen more and more people going to war literally at the very mention of which of the two OS is better IOS or Android.

If I were to be a part of that War a few months back, I would have backed Apple IOS but with the release of Apple4S instead of Apple5, on which I had so many hopes based on all the various speculations, I'll back Android hands down.

All the hardcore Apple fans out there who still think that IOS5 is very innovative and 4S is the best, my sincere condolences to you! Had you been the owner of an Apple product an year and a half ago, I would have agreed with you. Today, when there is so much advancement in terms of the UI and the appearance, Apple still lets you know that although you own the product, it is the sole owner of of what you can do with it. I doesn't give you the freedom to customize it the way you can with most of the other products in the market.

I may be a little hard on how Apple handles it's customers but yes, Apple treats you like a kid imposing all kinds of restrictions and doesn't let you use a phone to it's full potential. I agree with the fact that the product is great and has a lot of potential but it restricts all of it. When all the Network Operators have switched to 4G already and the many phones coming out with 4G capabilities, we have Apple 4S that is still 3G only.

Android on the other hand, being a Open Source OS, has advanced so much that it's already contending for the top spot. With the latest release of the Samsung phone, this War is being taken to the next level all together. Samsung is one of the brands that started slow and has gained so much +ve reviews and customer base that their latest Phone released on the same day as the 4S is already one of them most awaited phones of the year.

Had and Apple 5 come out into the market as expected with modifications in terms of the design and UI and the 4G capability, it would have been much more appreciated and could have still been at the top spot with out any doubt. But then, it's Apple and you cannot expect that to happen.

My next phone is definitely not an Apple! Thanks for not making the changes I wanted to see from you that are now coming in the new Samsung Nexus Prime!

Crazy Crap!

As a kid, if any one asked, "What do you wanna be when you grow up?" I had an answer..although it was different each time the question was asked, none the less, I had an answer. As I grew older, the number of people who asked me the question became few and I don't have an answer to that question. I should say it's kind of good I don't have to answer that question coz I have no freaking idea where my career is headed.

What I wanted to be as a kid is far from reality now. Where I am heading now? No Idea! For the record, I wanted to be a SCIENTIST, an ASTRONAUT, a BIKER, a RACER and some times a POLICE oh yes, and most of the times have special powers in rings, cards, watches and almost everything (thanks to the cartoons.)

The closest I came to any one of these professions was by owning a Bike and a Car (although neva tried anything that a racer needs to do with them.) Turns out that in order to do some of the above, you have to excel at studies (except the cartoon stuff) and have a zeal for being recognized, that I lack.

Now fast forwarding the years by 15, comes today..and how close am I to what I wanted to be? As far as India is from USA. I'm not even what I thought I would be an year ago. Hence, I've come to realize that in order to actually be someone you once wanted to you need the passion. And, if you are just like me..lazy, care free and take one day at a time and take that day at the last moment..then we have these mediocre IT jobs to save us; and if you are in USA, then even they may kick you in the face with a 'CITIZEN/ NATIONAL' stamp. Although they have a routine and give us a job that you might hate.. you have no option.

But hey! You didn't do anything else did you? Darn..no point in cursing now..we are who we are!

A Tale of a Pizza and an Unknown Customer :)

Once up on a time, not so long ago, Uka went to deliver a pizza to a customer. The ticket (can also be read as the receipt) had all the details such as the name, telephone number and the address. In short, it had all the details that were needed to contact the customer in case there was some problem in finding the address. Uka was new to the job and he was still learning to do it the right way.

As per the rules of the store, Uka was not supposed to come back to the store without delivering the Pizza to the customer. He was supposed to call them or knock on their door and when this did not yield any results, he was supposed to inform the Manager in the store and then he would be told what to do next.

Uka reached the customer's address just as the ticket read. He made it. Now, he was to reach at the door and deliver it. He knocked on the door; No response. He tried again; No response. He waited a few minutes and then knocked again, this time harder; Still, no reply. He took out his cell phone to make a call at the customer's number, only to find the cell turned off due to insufficient charging. Darn! This meant chaos and problem.

He knocked on the apt door beside the customers' and asked the resident if he could use his fone to make a call on the customer's number. The neighbor was a good Samaritan who gave Uka his cell fone and let him make the call. Uka called on the customer's number thrice but it went to the voice mail..not once but thrice.

Uka thanked the neighbor and also apologized for the inconvenience caused and went back to the customer's door and again knocked on it; No reply yet again. Through the view-hole of the door, Uka was able to hear and see the TV running; Some movie was playing :-D . He thought they must be either deaf or they are watching TV with their ear-plugs on. He knocked hard on the door (can also call it as banging) a couple of times but in vain. He looked around to see if there was any one but there was not a single person to be seen. He then tried the door knob to see if it was open. It was locked. Through the view-hole he could see some one moving inside. He went closer to the view-hole and looked through it.

Uka thought something must have happened to the customer and thought of calling the cops to inform them of the same. He went down stairs to his car to find a Cop waiting by it. He was surprised to see the Cop. He knew of the saying 'Think of a Devil and the Devil appears', but he saw that happen practically.

Uka: Is anything wrong Officer?
Cop: Is this your car? Are you here on a Pizza delivery?
Uka: Yes, Officer.
Cop: May I see the ticket Sir? I just want to make sure that you are at the right address.

(Uka, while handing him the ticket asked, "Did something happen Officer?" )

Cop: (Checking the ticket and confirming that Uka was at the right place)Yeh, the customer, you came to deliver this Pizza, called us saying someone was at her door trying to break in to her house.
Uka: Oh! I'm surprised..I was actually going to do the same Officer. I knocked on that door quite a number of times and even tried calling on the number but in vain. I thought something must have gone wrong in there. So thought I'll call the Cops.

Cop: Don't worry Sir, the address is right and you were at the right house. We'll confirm what the matter is.

(He radios another guy and in a couple of minutes, there are two other cars and 4 Cops came out of them.)

Now, this was turning into some sort of a big case. Uka was nervous and tensed but the 1st Cop was very cool and casual so he tried to relax a bit. In reality, the situation was a bit tense. 5 Cops- 1 Pizza delivery guy- 1 Unknown customer- Huge chaos- Loads of problems!!

One of the cops volunteered to go to the customer to find out if they had ordered a Pizza. In the mean time, Uka asked the 1st Cop, "Officer, I don't have enough battery in my cell fone to make a call to the store, Could I use your cell fone if u have one?"
The Cop handed Uka his cell fone and Uka made a call to the store Manager only to realize that the address printed on the ticket was wrong as the 'ACTUAL' customer was new to this place and was confused with the numbers.

Uka told the cop standing there the same thing and went to deliver the Pizza to the 'CORRECT' customer. The Actual customer apologized for the mix-up and tipped him. On returning to his car, Uka saw that all the 5 Cops were standing by it, waiting for him.

The Cop who had volunteered to go the complainant walked up to Uka and said, "Sir, you may been at the right address and at the right customer's place but it was absolutely 'stupid' on your part to knock on their door so many times and worst of all you tried to open the door. Never do that! The resident is completely freaked out and scared. She says u banged on her door so hard and also tried to break into her house. She's so shaken by this incident that she was even scared to open the doors to talk to me."

Uka: I am sorry Officer, but I was just trying to make sure that the customer was safe.
Cop: If you want to make sure the customer is alright, call us..we'll ensure that. Since, this was a case of a mix-up, we are letting you go but remember Sir, next time, we'll have to arrest you if this happens.

Uka was thankful that they didn't arrest him now and let him go. He thanked them and apologized to the cops for all the trouble caused by him and left to the store.

'Shortest Route' & 'Avoid Tolls'

Date: 23rd May, 2010 Time: 04:00 Hrs

Venue: Dulles Intl. Airport - Circle Towers

Early today, I dropped my roomie at the Airport as he's leaving to his sis' place, Boston, for a week. It was middle of the night & I had slept 2 hrs prior to being awakened by Mr. Lakudu Pahalvan (Mr. Bokkala Raju) sayin it's time to go to the Airport. It was 04:00 hrs; I hate to get up at this time..although I can stay awake up till much later times if I don't hit the sack. It was cold and drizzling outside. I had to drive him to the Airport, 17 miles away (no1 else present in my room has a license to drive :|)

Mistake 1: Lakudu said, "I'll drive." I was very sleepy; I said, "OK!"

No sooner had we hit the road than it started to pour.

Mistake 2: He continued to drive in dangerous conditions. The road was not visible properly.

10 minutes on the interstate and I realized it was better to take the wheel rather than risk in this weather. We stopped on a shoulder and exchanged seats. The next 20 minutes were smooth until we reached a Toll Gate. 75 Cents it said. Damn!! We weren't expecting a Toll Gate en-route to the Airport. I was told by the other 2 that the route we were taking to the Airport was longer and took more time to arrive at the destination and it also came at a price. Other than this the ride was all fine and we arrived at the Airport and dropped my roomie there. I waited in the car while the other 2 went inside the departure terminal for the Jet Blue flight. I waited for about 5 minutes and then when Lakudu came back, we started for home.

Mistake 3: I changed the settings in the GPS, while I waited in the car.

Time: 04:33 Hrs

We started for home and drove for 10 minutes on a highway after which the GPS asked me to take an exit and then turn right. I followed it's instructions blindly as I didn't know the route home from the Airport. This was a small town with an occasional shop here and there. There were no street lights and no cars. Who cares, as long as we were having 'The Saviour, GPS' with us to guide us home. This road was reduced speed area with a posted speed limit of 30 MPH. [I followed the speed limit carefully coz I have this belief that the Cops are more vigilant during the early hours.]

The GPS asked me to take an occasional turn every now and then and before I could realize where it was taking me, I realized that we were driving on a road that was very dark, had no street lights, no cars or buildings, was foggy and the visibility was poor due to the rain and fog. The road was 2 way road and had 'dense big trees' on either side of the road. This was enough for scaring the shit out of us. I could feel my hair standing- I was having Goosebumps. The road was scary; I have to admit. Id addition to this, I was sitting alongside Mr. Lakudu who was scared to death too. He was talking about things like 'Wrong Turn', "What if a one of these trees falls on the ground right now and we cannot go further?" and so on and so forth. As if the situation was not already bad, he was adding spice to it.

He said, "I'll change the settings on the GPS back to what it was and hit the interstate." I said, "No, we'll see where this road leads us."

Mistake 4: I didn't let him change the settings.

Another few minutes passed and I understood how big a fool I was not to let him change the settings. The road was getting narrower and the Bloody GPS was taking us far into the woods with no trace of life or existence. Both of us decided to lock our doors and drive safely. The roads were curvy with a lot of highs and lows. In addition to this..once in a while, we would feel like something moved in the woods. Frock! The whole time, we were travelling on a road that was taking us no where but leading us some where. Both of us had a fake smile on our face but scared inside. We weren't sure if we would even see the light. 15 mins later, we saw lights approaching us. We had some relief. We knew this was one stupid car with people like us who were messed big time. We had good laugh looking at the car and thinking of the path they were going to travel. Another 5 minutes and then we saw the first house after ages. This house looked haunted too. Large area, small house and nothing surrounding it. Darn! A lil further, we saw another house and now we understood that the GPS was taking us into a village or town. 10 minutes later, we were in an area we recognized immediately. Relief! A very big relief!! We sighed and laughed at what happened but trust me. It was scary as shit!

Conclusion 1: Never try to save money on gas by selecting the shorter route when you dunno where it might lead you.

Conclusion 2: Don't trust the GPS all the time. Use your instincts as well. Not always does it lead in the right path. It forces you to take 'Wrong Turns'

Result: Came home 30 minutes later than usual..with at least 25 mins of adventure and fright. Loved the short excitement but was too much for the first time :D

Exciting Careers!

Now if I told you that I'm writing this blog sitting right in a class, would you be surprised or jealous or indifferent?

If surprised: Coz I'm writing it in class.
If jealous: Coz I'm having the freedom and liberty to do it.
If indifferent: Coz you don't understand how cool this is :p

Now, if you are thinking that I am writing in another one of those boring lectures being conducted by one of those boring professor..who puts you to sleep..then sorry to say you're..Wrong! I am the Prof./ Instructor here (Prof. Akula...lolz..I know sounds very funny..even I laugh at it :) ) Weird? I felt the same when I was called that. Now I am used to it; U'll get used to it too :p. I am assuming that your expression has changed by now. Not yet? Then probably what I'm going to say next might :)

This is an excerpt from the original/ true life incident "My 1st class as Prof. Akula" performed on 21st Jan, 2010.

(I had to be in the class by 09:00 hrs for my lecture. I made sure that I came in at least by 08:00 hrs)
Ever felt the butterflies in your stomach when you know that the next few hours are nothing like you had thought/ imagined before? Ever had the urge to visit the Loo so frequent that you could call it your second home for those few hours? Sweating from head to toe even if it's cold in reality? I'm sure each one of you came across this kind of a situation at least once till date; to be more precise you must have come across this during school when asked to recite in front of a class or give a presentation in college. Don't fool me :) I know :p

There were a lot of things going on in my mind. For instance; How will I perform? Will they even look at me like a prof./ instructor? (lolz) Will any one understand what I am going to speak? Are they going to sit for the entire time or jus leave in between? What if they ask me questions I don't know answers to? The thoughts were plenty and they kept coming at such a fast pace, my memory buffer was getting full. I had to deviate my thoughts on various other things to keep my self cool.

I had my first student come in at around 08:30 hrs. "Darn!" I thought. I knew I was going to get many more students in the next half n hour. I wasn't completely prepared for it. Now my thoughts paced even faster the world's fastest computer. I was getting all weird kinds of thoughts..recollecting weird things. As a kid, I hated to stand in front of a class to recite or stand on a stage. People usually term it 'stage fear' but I prefer to call it 'un-cool' to talk in front of some 'stupid' crowd :p But now, I was to do the very same thing I hated to do.

My first student came in at about 08:30 hrs as I mentioned earlier and it was a girl..an undergrad girl :) (You should have seen my expression then..I loved this..she was ;) ) I was delighted at once :p Forgot all about the fear..stopped sweating..set my hair..cleared my throat..drank some water..tried to act very smart..look professional..tried to do all weird things to make sure I didn't look like a fool..but may be in the process just made a fool outta my self..which I dunno :| Since the time she came in, I had the rest of the students coming in as well..until about 09:00 hrs and they were all girls :) (Can you believe this? I couldn't :-| ) I thought this was going to be one of my best days :P I exactly knew what was going to keep me motivated for the class :p I started to look for the good looking ones although most of them were not bad :| The first boy to enter the class was at about 2 min past 09:00 hrs. Darn! I hated him :P Why wasn't it another girl? But I felt I was thinking too far and expecting a lot :P

Since this was my 1st class, I waited for the class to be sufficiently full. The full strength of the class was 55. By 09:05 hrs, all of them turned up (coz it was their first day too.) By the time I started the class, there were only 8-9 boys out of 55 students :) Now, I didn't regret being the Prof :) How cool would you rate this or rather lucky :)

I started the class but my concentration was constantly distracted by looking at the the beauties around me :p It was hard to take the class. They were listening to me with care; but I was also looking at them with 'care'..just to make sure they didn't notice me looking at them or rather stare at them. The class lasted about 20-25 mins. I was completely excited and spoke a lot of things I wasn't even supposed..jus to impress the girls :D I don't have their opinions..so can't really comment on the outcome :|

All in all..that was one wonderful day :) First day at class as Prof. Akula and I was rewarded with a class almost full of undergrad girls :) I loved every bit of it on that day :) Every week when I have to take this class..I dress the best I can :P and try to look even better :| Smart guys aren't you :p I need not explain any further..you can imagine the amount of fun I get in that class :)

C ya guys..time to get back to teaching again..I have a student here with a doubt :D I jus love this job..so exiciting :)

Worthless Observations!

I dunno if this is even worth putting in writing; but I'll still go ahead. I used to listen to people telling adages and quoting what other people said and it didn't make a lot of sense when I was small and young. Now that I've grown up (I always have this feeling that I am more mature now..correct me if not), they all fall in to place and now I realize that they make a lot of sense and that they were told after years of experience & observations.

Now, I'm not that old to talk about experience or say something that can used as adages for the future; but I've done my bit of research in the past 20 yrs and have come up with a few of them (mind you that most of them not even worth the efforts I put in).

2: The best way to end a conversation is by saying what's on your mind. Although it ends abruptly..it does the job well. :-p

3: If you see some one and they seem familiar..don't go and ask, "Have we met before/ Do I know you?" Try staring at them long enough so that they feel very un-comfortable and finally come and ask what you wanted to ask them. Lemme know if this works. I never tried it. :-)

4: If you encounter someone who talks less, ask them questions. It might be a one word reply initially; but they'll talk. Keep asking questions and they'll start answering in more than one word soon enough. Some times, the words may be even more and might lead to new topics.

5: Never make use of the words 'always' and 'never'. They have the highest intensity and can be really dangerous. They make/ change the whole meaning of the sentence. It might be very harsh to the person you'r using it on. (Trust me on this one. Happened to me..so I know it).

While here in Fairfax, I stumbled upon a few facts.

6: Day break is nothing close to the usual day. Morning is not morning until 12 PM .Night is not night until it is 4 AM.

7: Gloves are no good when it is cold. They freeze you hands even more. Like wise, shoes don't help either. The feet freeze no matter what you wear.

8: I just became a fan of the group "some of the best conversations happen at late night." But I also realized that they even happen during the day. It all depends on the company you'r having.

9: Another thing worth mentioning is about the BED BUGS. My favorite. My best pals. No matter how many people stay in a house, they only select the best (read as Harsha) and feast on them. Even if you go visiting to another's place, they always love you (read as Harsha). They bite you (yes, you guessed it right. It's Harsha). They make the most of the moment.

10: Cops are our best companions. They find the smallest/ silliest of the reasons of the visit your place. No invitations required. Bin bulaye mehmaan!

11: Be on time! I neva understood what "Time and tide wait for none" meant. Realized it after I missed my flight two times in a row and caught a running train.

12: You all must be knowing the following

If A=B & B=C then, A=C;

Beautiful girls are committed. Committed girls are in USA. You are all smart. No more explanation required..right?

13: Luck plays a major role in most of the things you do in USA. You jus can't knock on its door. It's scared to open doors to strangers. So wait for it knock on your door.

14: There is no good cook or bad cook. All of us have to cook to survive!

16: The best way to increase your circle of friends is by participating in SITTINGS :-)

17: Never copy even an assignment. You may have to visit the court. Yes, the Honor court! :-D

18: Don't download movies. The cops might come looking/ asking for you. :-)

19: Never get scared of a fire alarm or the fire engine or the ambulance. Most of the time, they just go around the city/ town to check if their sirens are working. :-p

20: If you noticed that I skipped the number 15, then I'd accept that one day you are going to be as great as me.

I know I shouldn't be writing a blog so soon..but I just happened to read a scrap from a very close friend of mine and I re-collected this very idiotic/funny incident that took place back in school. Well, the topic of the post will give you the hint as to what I am going to write about..but if you don't, then don't over work ur brain.
Now, this incident had 7 people involved in it.

X happened to join a school in his 7th. Once, he was done with his 8th, he was shifted to another section in his 9th. Now, there were very ppl he knew in this section and the first few days were pretty hard to go by. There were many gangs and one of them W-Y-Z-A-B-C. They were all good friends. In the following week, X was in the computer lab along with his partner, W. This was prolly the 2nd or 3rd time that the two had spoken to each other. While doin the lab, they both were also talking about a lot of things and one of them was about love and girl friends.

X: Do u have a crush on anyone?
W: Well yes..I have a crush on C.
X: Do your friends know about it..does C know about it?
W: Yeh, the boys in the gang know it.. but not the girls and not her in paricular.

Revealing his love interest to X was the biggest mistake W had committed. X went to W's friends and asked them since wen W had a crush on C. The entire gang was shocked and asked how X knew about it. X tells them W told him in the computer lab the previous day. Now, this was BREAKING NEWS. His friends had been trying to get the name of the gal he had a crush on for pretty long time and all of a sudden X comes from no where and tells them its C. This piece of information was very well received by the entire gang (X now became a part of the gang..coz he told them some very important NEWS.)

All this happened in the 1st few weeks since school started and there was a lot of time for the year to end (obviously) but there was only one guy who had the longest year thanks to X. W hated X and cursed himself for telling about his love interest to X.

REASON: It was a sensation. The entire gang started to tease W with C. C was clueless and thought it was jus a casual link-up. When ever C's name was called, the gang made sure that W's name was called out. Initially it seemed okay, but as days passed, the number of times every one started calling out their names was so high that C started to doubt W. There was no one in the school in the entire 8th who wasn't aware of the W-C link-up. It was one of the first love stories and hence spread like wild fire. There was talk every where that W loves C. Where ever W went, they wud ask him..tease him..trouble him. If C was there, they would shout out W's name.

By now C was fully aware of wat was happening but she chose to keep mum. This led to another link-up. "C also has a crush on W." Now their names were even more popular than before and if either of their names was called out, the whole class made a point to shout the other person's name. The same rules applied outside the classroom as well. X didn't realize the amount of damage he had caused until this matter went to teachers. The pair was so popular that the matter didn't stop there and even went out to the PRINCIPAL(Princy).

(For the record, X was considered the main culprit and he sure was. He was also the cause of many problems. He was one person, most people loved to hate. He had it in him. Once any one spoke to him, they realized the next moment that he was bad..real bad. Classmates hated him..teachers hated him..he spared none. He had a loud mouth; always cursing. He teased girls..boys, troubled teachers..he was always the epic center of troubles. Where ever there was problem, X was there. He was a pain in the ass.)

The school had speakers fitted in each and every class and announcements could be made from the Princy's room where the mic was fitted. Only the most important announcements were made in the mic. On this fine day, early in the morning, jus after the 1st or 2nd period, the speakers came to life. All were waiting to listen to the announcement but were shocked to listen the Princy calling out to A, B, C W, X, Y and Z. At once, every one understood that there was something fishy. Once they went over to the Princy's office, no one was willing to enter the room. X took the courage to enter the room followed by the rest of them. Once they were in, the very first question asked was who is X? Darn! Even the Princy knew that X was the culprit. X stepped forward and he was asked how did he know that W likes C. He explained and the Princy listened.She admonished X for creating such a nuisance and told W and C to be in their limits and left the others with a warning.

Now I have taken ut-most care to keep the names of the people involved in this incident a complete secret. If any one of u is reading this and want me to reveal ur names, then u can do it ur-self or i'll do it for u :-D

JOURNEY BLUES with JET BLUE!!

Guys, I couldn't wait to tell u guys what just happened about an hour ago. I'm sure this is going to be a good read. Without wasting any more words and time, I'll get to the matter straight.

I'm assuming that most of u know that I've been on a holiday tour since the last 2 days. I am travelling to Chicago, to my sis' place and on the way, stopped in New York City (NYC) to for 2 days. Now, I am at the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, waiting to board the flight to Chicago. If u'r wondering why I am writing all this crap, then let me tell u that I am laying a foundation (for u guys) to laugh ur guts out further down.

DAY1: I was touring the NY city all day yesterday from day break to night fall and late into night. I saw a lot of places and things (but will let u know all these details in my next blog if u want to hear it :-p ) here at NY and had to do all this in one damn single day. Most of the day was spent in walking from one street to another and one avenue to the next. Most places of interest were next to each other but were very far from one another (confused? Let it stay that way until u see it :-) ) It was late by the time I came home to my frnz' place, If i remember it right..it was quarter past 11:00 hrs. Heard of the adage "OLD HABITS DIE HARD"..This is not new to many. Although, I was to be at the airport to board my flight at 09:00 hrs the next day (i.e. today), I preferred to stay late until 2 AM or wait..NO, it was past it.may b it was 02:30 hrs or so. Slept with a lof of difficulty all thanx to the repeat of the BLOODY thirsty PARTY I told u guys yesterday. (Those of u not aware of it, this is wat I'm referring to: "Woohoo!!! Had a blast last night..cud hardly catch a wink of sleep. It was such a BLOODY PARTY..the bed bugs had a GREAT FEAST! They must have had a FAMILY GATHERING on me!")

Day2: I woke up at 05:00 hrs this morning (coz my frnd has only ONE bathroom in his 3BHK apt.) Lolzz..I know..so it was the BATHROOM BLUES in the morning. After I got ready, I woke up my frnd, who's accompanying me to Chicago for the holidays. He got ready and by the time we started off for the airport it was 07:30 hrs. We started early, coz in the last 3 days, the security had been beefed up at the airports all throughout US after that failed hijack by some Nigerian dude. Another reason for the early start was the prediction that there would be snow and rain today. As, there was no weather complication,we made it early to the airport and checked in the baggage and took the boarding pass and then came for the security check. The security was just as usual..no beefing..no extras..nothing. The security check took us about 15 mins..coz of the line and not the actual check.

08:20 hrs: Since we made it early, we took our time to move around to the gate where we were supposed to board our flight (GATE 25). We looked around the shops, checked out a few hot girls :-) and then slowly came and sat near GATE 22 (Why? Coz, we wanted to be different I guess.)

08:40 hrs: I got a call from my dad..

Dad: Is your flight on time (he read somewhere or saw news that the flights were getting delayed due to bad weather conditions in NY and Chicago.)
Me: Yes, dad..it's on time. Don't worry.
Dad: Oh kay then..take care and have a safe flight.
Me: Thanks dad. Bye!

We sat at the same place for the next 15-20 minutes, and then I got a call from my frnd at who's place, I was stayed the last 2 days.

He: Hey man..did u board ur flight?
Me: Hey..nope..not yet..waiting for the announcement.
He: Oh kay..make sure that u'r listening to the announcements.
Me: Sure..thanks though..
He: Oh kay then..have a good flight..bye..take care.
Me: Thanks..u take care too.
(Conversation took about 3-4 mins..spoke about some general things..security and all that crap)

09:03 hrs: I asked my frnd..

Me: U'r sure that ur listening to those announcements, right?
He: Hell yeah..they haven't yet called out our flight.
Me: Oh kay..kool then..lets enjoy and chillax.

09:07 hrs: Still no announcement; but we could see the flight at the GATE 25..so thought, why not go and ask the personnel there why they weren't announcing the flight details.

Me: Hi..can u plz let me know if this flight is delayed..I see that u haven't announced details about it yet.
Personnel: Sure sir, plz give me a moment while i retrieve your details. Can I see ur boarding pass?
Me: Yeh, sure.
He: (Takes about 2-3 minutes and tells) I am sorry sir, but the FLIGHT JUST DEPARTED AT 09:00 hrs SHARP!!

(DARN!! OLD HABITS DIE..REALLY VERY HARD..but we learnt it the hard way.. we were late..very late..by mere 13 minutes.)

Me: Are u kidding me? How can the flight leave with us?
He: Sir, the time now is 09:13 hrs. The flight was scheduled to leave at 09:00 hrs and it did.
Me: I was sitting here all the while..neva heard the announcement!
He: Sir, I made the announcement my self..all the ppl here boarded the flight.. and u weren't here then.
Me: But..(I just remembered that I wasn't sitting at GATE 25..I was sitting at GATE 22). DARN!!
Me: Now, what am I supposed to do?
He: Well..we can put u on the next flight..provided there is availability. Plz head to the counter at GATE 22 and ask them.
Me: Thank you!

Went over to the counter at GATE 22, told them what jus happened and asked if they cud do something..
The lady there, took a few minutes and gave our boarding passes for the next flight to Chicago that's scheduled for 13:19 hrs.

Now, I have so much time..that I tot y not update my present status to u guys..Now, if I don't close the lid of this lappy, the flight attendant may just confiscate it from me. So, ADIOS!

PS: Ur invaluable comments might just make my flight more pleasant..so do let me know.

Me: I'm done..Yeh..sure..Yes..I'm shutting down the laptop..I'm really sorry..yes..yes..sure..(Psst) Guys, I gtg..they are really pissed with me now..c ya!

Its been quite some time since I've put any of my nonsense in to writing. Now that I've decided to put forth some of the nonsense, its your turn to take it or like it or hate it or just curse it..but what ever you do, read it. Now see, I've already made no(n)sense in the very first paragraph of the blog :-)

Now, I really have nothing to tell and nothing to do but when I saw a friend of mine(read as FAHEEM) write a blog while in office(at WORK), I thought if he can do it at work why can't I do it when I don't do anything at all. So I'm writing this blog just before my final exam which may show you guys that I'm JOBLESS and bored to the core. (Only for FAHEEM: "Dude if u can do it before work or during it, I can do it before an exam..hope both are level now.")

I was tryin to think of a topic to write about and then I realized that why does it even have to be a topic..can't it just be a few random things or events that might be worth putting to writing. I am bad with numbers as most of you know, so don't think that I am prioritizing anything.

Myth1: I have noticed that I've put on weight since I've been VERY BUSY.
Fact1: Yes, but I've been BUSY doing NOTHING for the last 3-4 months.

Myth2: You think that your friends are free and have no work to do, then think again.
Fact2: They are busy as any one else..except that they are doing NOTHING and you are doing SOMETHING.

Myth3: I always thought, "DAMN those students in the universities who don't reply to my questions or doubts about course work or the univ or talk about my profile. They are free and enjoying most of the time."
Fact3: I'm DAMN sure now that there are a lot of people out there doing the same to me now. It's just now that I've realized how busy we get when we get going by ourselves.

Myth4: Tcom is the easiest course and you get GRADES (read as 4 GPA) even if u don't study hard.
Fact4: Hell NO. I think I'll prove it this time that you'r all wrong.

Myth5: I should have studied instead of writing this blog. I've been wasting my time for no reason.
Fact5: You know it is a myth. You never study that hard and if time permits, you'll do something else other than study.

Myth6: You can sleep as much time as you want if there is NO1 to wake you up and you have no work to do.
Fact6: Are you kidding. This is USA. you do have your BEST FRIENDS to wake you up! Oh no..you might get me wrong..I was talking about the BED BUGS..your BEST FRIENDS!

Fact7: All the above things are supposed to make NO(n)SENSE, but if they do, then please forgive this blogger and give your comments which might make sense to me :-)

Troubles to USA!

Note: Thanks to all my friends who made my last few days in Hyderabad so memorable. without whom, I wouldn't have had such a lovely time.

I have dreamt of USA for a long long time now. I always thought it was the place to be and MS was my gateway there. And hence here I am doing what I was doing even in INDIA (writing a BLOG) to tell you my experience.

My travel was scheduled for the 28th July early hours (1 am). I was all set and I reached the airport at about 10 pm. My friends came to the airport to bid me a farewell. Sailendra came in his car as usual in his pyjamas along with Wasim, Shyam and Santosh. In another car were Rohit, Biswajit, Raja, Sujith and Pratap. (Former list is that of college friends and the latter one that of inter). My other co-travellers were waiting for me as well at the airport. I was late to the airport and this was not good as the series of things to follow will let you know.

The farewell was as expected; with a lot of last time pics in various cameras. The photo session lasted for about half an hour or more. Just before I was about to enter the main gate towards the boarding pass counter, one of my friend's remembered that my BIRTHDAY was due in a week. They gave me the customary BIRTHDAY BUMPS. After all this, I finally went inside for getting my baggage weighed and the boarding pass issued.

There was a huge line here and as I tol you, I was late for this as well. The watch showed 11 pm when I joined the line. The counter was scheduled to close at 11:30 for the LUFTHANSA flight I was travelling. The people in the line seemed to move slow and most of the first timers like me were having a problem as their baggage was over weight. Almost every one had to re-arrange their luggage or remove a few items from their list so as to avoid paying excess baggage costs (which was very exorbitant). By the time my turn came, I had already rearranged my weights in the bags but that didn't solve my problem. So, I was also asked to reduce atleast 2 Kgs from my hand baggage (the max allowed hand baggage weight was 8 Kgs). I took my time, moved away from the line and put some things here and there.

Finally, I came for re-weighing and then I was asked to wait until all the people ahead of me were done with their weighing. After waiying for about 20 odd minutes, the person at the counter said "Sir, your on-board flight from Frankfurt to Washington Dulles has been cancelled!" This came as a shocker to me, as I had reconfirmed my ticket with the airlines as well. This was when the so called BAD TIME started for me. I was asked to wait as they were 'trying to do something' (read as a favor) for me. All the counters were closed and the the watch read 12:20 AM. There was no one else along with me except the the guy who asked me wait. My parents were waiting for me to bid them good bye but this thing of mine was going no where. I was asked to wait indefinitely and my reapeated enquiry was given the answer "Sir, please hold on. We are doing this for you. You have to wait for some more time." I guess the people there didn't understand the kind of tension and stress I was going through. This guy was going every where and seemed to do a lot of talking, but it seemed to me that he was doing some 'Mauj- Masti'. But, when ever I asked him if anything had happened, he would immediately make a call and tell "Sir, its your matter we are looking into, you need to have patience."

I didn't know what to do and whom to blame. There was no fault of mine as I paid for a ticket, got it re-confirmed and even had the confirmation in my hand. But I was still at the receiving end of the BAD events happening there. After about half an hour, I was finally told "Sir, you have two options. One, travel to Frankfurt and take your boarding pass there or two, stay back here, talk to your travel agent and travel at a later date." I discussed the same with my parents and finally told him "I'll stay back and travel at a later date." It was then that I was told that he had made another booking for me as soon as my ticket was cancelled and so I can travel if I wanted but at my own RISK. I didn't want to take chance so told him I'll stay back and travel at a later date, but he convinced me and my parents that was not much risk involved. Hence I took the risk and went for the flight. I was the last person to go on-board the flight. I wasn't frisked or checked. I was given VIP treatment and made to travel to the door of the flight in a GOLF CART. I boarded the flight and the air hostess immediately shut the doors behind me. I sat down in my seat and the time now read 1:15 AM. The flight took off at 1:20 AM.

The on flight events were pleasant and hence I am skipping them. Once I landed in Frankfurt, I was tensed again. Getting my boarding pass was the most important thing on my mind. The very first thing I did after I got down the flight and entered the Frankfurt terminal was go to the counter where they issued the boarding pass. I went there and asked for it. They made me wait for about 20 odd minutes and finally gave me my BOARDING PASS for my on-ward journey to WASHINGTON DULLES INTL AIRPORT.

I am really sorry for the late post but there are not many systems available here to write down all this. Hope you enjoy the post. Any comments are welcome.

I hope my previous post was a genuine piece of CRAP; but I warned you. Didn't I? So I am not gonna ask for forgiveness. BLOGGING seems to have made me crazy coz I am writing things which I was never used to(read as CRAP). I hope you get used to my writing style (YOU may wonder if I have any) but you'll notice it over time. Anyways, sorry for all the trouble I am gonna give you guys henceforth.

Now tell me this. Does the title seem familiar? Have you heard it somewhere? Don't know? I seem to have asked too many questions and the answers I am expecting may vary from person to person but I am assuming that most of you will opt for the third option (now don't ask me where the options are to choose from).

If your answer was the first or the second option then it’s very obvious that the title of this blog is the name of the newly released Telugu movie by the same name. Now you must be thinking "He's going to tell the story coz he liked it and he's publicizing the movie." NO, coz I haven't watched the movie and I don't know the story as well (but I heard a song in it and its really melodious). Now you must be having questions like "Why is he naming the blog after a movie that most of us haven't heard of?" or "What does he want to say about the movie when he hasn't watched it himself?" or "Why the HELL is he writing at all?" The answer is that I have been to BADRACHALAM and this is the place the river GODAVARI flows through.

That's it? Is this all? Not exactly. In fact I am going to tell my experience of my first visit to GODAVARI. I had been there with my family and I felt it would have been more fun had I gone along with friends; but none the less, it was good. It was supposed to be a 1 day trip but thanks to the BUS by which I travelled (he dropped us at the destination at 8:30 am, 3 hours late), I had to stay for 2 days to accommodate the boat journey on the river (the boat journey starts at 9 at a place 2 hrs away from the temple town) .

The 1st day I landed in Badrachalam, I visited the Temple it's famous for. Stayed in the temple premises for about three hours and then had lunch at the Temple dining hall. Later in the day, we watched a movie named RIDE (really took were on a ride). Dinner followed the movie and then back to the room.

The 2nd day started at 5 am and by the time we reached the bus stop to catch the bus to RAMGIRI (the place where the boat owners operate the boats on the Godavari), it was 7 am. The boat trips are from 9 am - 4 pm every day and you have to book/ reserve your seat the earlier day in the temple town. They cover a distance of 45 KM one way (90 KM two way) and show you the famous mountains PAAPI KONDALU. They charge 250 per head and this includes breakfast, lunch and snacks. The price was reasonable, I thought, considering the quality and quantity of food and the distance of journey.

After getting down in Ramgiri, we alighted the boat and occupied the top deck of the boat. There was a drizzle that lasted for most part of the trip and there was nothing much we could do to avoid it. The boat crew was very mindful and served breakfast and tea within the 1st 20 minutes. Then on, we enjoyed looking at the beautiful sceneries from above the boat. At about 11:30, the boat was anchored at one of the banks of the river and we were told there was a temple and a small waterfall atop a small hill. There was a small village through which we had to pass and the temple was their place of worship.

The boat resumed along the downstream of the river but it seemed to move very slowly and at about 1 pm, we were asked to get down at an island. The owner of the boat then told us that this was the very place where the entire shoot of the movie Gopi Gopika Godavari took place. (The items that were used for the shoot were still there on that island.) He also told us that they used his boat for most part of the movie. Finally, the boat made a U-turn and then stared THE RIDE.

The lunch was arranged after the boat started for Ramgiri. Everyone on the boat was hungry and the lunch was done in less than 20 min. The journey upstream was very slow and I really mean it. If a toddler were to crawl beside the boat, he'd surely be the 1st to reach the end. Due to the constant drizzle and the heavy rains at the other places from where the Godavari flows, the river had swelled to an alarming level and the water was flowing with a very strong current. After the heavy mid-day lunch, I was really sleepy and I decided to take a short nap. I was sitting close to the railing atop the boat and was resting my legs on it. I did not realize when the rest of the people left the upper deck (it was actually drizzling heavily) and I was all alone. A few minutes later, I felt the boat hit something and even before I could react, I fell into the water.

My reflexes were pretty fast and I immediately started to swim so as to stay afloat. The boat was out of reach from me and I couldn't call out for help as I was drowning. I tried hard to swim and get near the boat, but I was nowhere close to it. For the very first time I saw the boat going away from me and that too FAST. The boat was no longer 'crawling like a baby'; It was moving as fast as it was going earlier (way too fast for me to get near it). I tried with all the power I had to raise my head above the water and shout aloud to the people aboard the boat but I could barely lift my head from underneath the water to breathe. To add to my woes, I had to swim against the strong currents of the river that was ever swelling with water. Due to the ever increasing distance between me and the boat, I feared I would finally drown due to exhaustion. I didn't give up but I was losing the hope. Chances of any one on the boat noticing me were very bleak as all of them were on the lower deck (the lower deck had windows; but they were closed as it was raining).

Finally, I died by drowning and it was also published in the local daily Newspaper.

Only after I opened my eyes, did I realize that I had been in to a lovely dream land (read as NIGHTMARE) that claimed my LIFE. All this while, I was sleeping on the top deck while it was drizzling slightly. All the facts stated above were true (like the strong currents, the boat hitting something, heavy rain, every1 on the lower deck, etc.)

Dreams like these may come only once but they make a lasting impression. This DREAM of mine blew the SHIT out of me. I guess that’s the reason they say DREAMS UN-LIMITED.

Time and Tide wait for none. So very true!

WARNING: I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M WRITING

I think I should consider my last blog, a success (1st, coz I dint get -ve comments. 2nd, coz it was my 1st blog :D) . I liked blogging, so here I am with my 2nd blog which is nothing but a waste of time for all of you out there wanting to waste time the 'royal way'.

I don't know when I first heard of the adage "TIME AND TIDE WAIT FOR NONE", but its very true; did you know that? If not, you'll know after reading this blog :P. The words are not very tricky or tough or new, so I expect that you know what it means too. So let me directly jump in to the matter rather than waste your 'precious time'.

Let me rewind the tape by a few years and show you a small flash back.

Time was something I hated as a kid. I remember how hard it was for me to decode what 'half-past-anything', 'quarter-past-something' and 'quarter-to-something' meant. It took me 3-4 years or even 5..no wait I think it took me 6-7 years to read time and understnd its terminology. In 7th grade, I finally bought my 1st watch (a digital wrist watch) that actually showed time, and I could read it and tell it to others too.

In inter, time went by very very fast. Other than going college and writing exams week after week for 24 months, I hardly remember if I did any thing else other than that. I wanted time to take rest for a few more days one day before EAMCET, The Hell-CET, because I was perfect and I dindn't want to go to the exams with that kind of an attitude. But it didn't listen to me and the result is I landed in one of the best engg. colleges of the city(every one other those in my college think so) by a cost-saving (read management quota) method which most would not prefer to take.

All through engg., I felt time was moving slow. The feeling was most prominent, when I had to attend college and lectures of the best lecturers, on days when I least wanted to(most of the time, it was every day). Although I completed most of the 4 years of engg. with this feeling, there were times when I wanted time to 'take a KITKAT break' (but it never took; and u all know why). I wanted this to happen badly, when I realised or was rather informed by some bad guy, "today is the last day to submit the assignment or record or mini-project or anything".

I guess the intro is I gave about my view point of time is quite a lot and that I've been successful in taking some of your in-valuable time for my blog :D. Of late, I have noticed that time's been flying and I seem to fall short of a few hours every day. How I wish there were a few more hours per day so that I can spend them watching movies, going out with friends and doing the most important thing- SLEEP! The past few weeks after the final BE exams have passed by very fast and I was so busy (at least I say that to every one) that if I turn back and see why I was busy, I found out that I did NOTHING! I am sure all of you out there are just as BUSY as me. Aren't you?

If you made it to this very sentence, then I should appreciate your patience, but I also know that you are as much jobless as I am. I had a good time writing some crap like this, which is the beat way to beat time. Finally, thanks for your time.
