A progress report provides a record of what your student(s) are studying and their strengths and weaknesses in these subjects. Here are some basic rules of what your progress report should include:

List Community Bible Church Christian Academy, along with the student’s name, grade and the date of the progress report.

It should reflect dates which you have homeschooled and the total number of days of instruction. We are required to have 180 days instruction each year. Please show this in your progress report.

List the subjects studied, a brief description of each course, curriculum and books usedand an indicator of how the student is doing in each course. Examples are a narrative explaining his progress, a grade or an indication such assatisfactory or unsatisfactory progress.

Please follow the Uniform Grading Scale for High School Students as required by South Carolina law. Include a sample of assigned work for each subject as appropriate.

Click Here for Conversion Chart for Half Credit GPAs.

A sample of your plan book for that reporting period.

If the student has fulfilled all the requirements for the school year and is ready for the next grade level, the parent must provide a statement showing this on the last progress report of the year.

For students third grade and above, please provide a copy of their standardized achievement test as a part of their permanent record.

In addition, a separate transcript is required for High School Students. Each instructor is responsible for preparing their students’ official transcripts. These should be started during the students’ freshman year and kept up-to-date for use when it is time to apply for colleges. Copies of final transcripts must be turned into Pastor Broggi for signature before applying for college. Sample transcripts and progress reports are provided in the CBCCA Handbook with more detailed information.

I am so happy that I am here, living on this earth, serving God and His people as I serve my husband, family and mother.

Work is such a good thing. There is a sense of accomplishment. There is a sense of worth. There is a sense of satisfaction. When I don't work I feel very dissatisfied with everything. When my home is in disorder, I feel crazy.

It is like God has put this love of orderliness in our innermost being and when we are not we are so dissatisfied.

Of course contentedness is a state of mind. When we struggle and strive to get a break ... it never is satisfying. I am learning new each day that it is not the break I need... but the doing of what is right.

1 Timothy 6:6-8

But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.
For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.

If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. Yes we should teach our children. But it is the words of God. Our very source which we need to have on our hearts.

You and I simply cannot do the things that 2 Timothy 3:16 asks us to do:

Teach
Reprove
Correct and
Train In Righteousness

....if we don't have the source ready. How much more effective it is to correct with the Word on our tongue and filling our mind than running to a book to find the verse to look up in the Bible as the moment passes away.

This is ME too. I am there too. So I have asked God to help me in this area.

My first offensive weapon? Memorize it. Memorize it. Memorize it. Over and Over again... tell your kids the main 3 or 4 verses that you know are going to come up. It you tell them enough... you will know them. Carry them around on an index card.

The verses I currently am carrying around are the following:

Proverbs 29:11

A fool always loses his temper, but a wise man holds it back.

Proverbs 13:1

A wise son accepts his father's discipline but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

Hebvews 13:16

Do not forget to do good and to share with others for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Proverbs 13:24

He who withholds his rod hates his son, but he who loves him discipline him diligently.

James 4:1

What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?

Philippians 2:3

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.

Proverbs 3:5-7

Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

It is well

Everything went really well this weekend. Such a blessing and so encouraging to see so many people come out and support the Coastal Home Educators Homeschool and Parenting Conference.

The Book Blast was a huge success and Vendor’s Hall was fabulous.

Lou Priolo did an excellent job explaining the importance of teaching Scripture from the milieu which means just using Scripture to explain everyday situations, problems and questions to your children.

Today he will look at the Heart of Anger and take questions.. so don’t miss it. Also we have lots of workshops all day long as well as some terrific deals… don’t miss the fellowship, encouragement and fun!

We are planning on making cds or mp3 downloads available of the teaching time so keep posted for it right here! char

Busy Couple of Weeks

I feel like I have not been very personal the past few weeks. We have been working on the Conference.. and the addition.. and taking care of mom. I don't know if I often complete a thought.
But when I do, I think how grateful I am that I am a Christian. I am bought by the blood of Jesus, who loved me so much that He died for me. Even me.

I am thankful for the friends who are always encouraging me and supporting me in endeavors that are outlandish. Why do I have to have ideas? I guess that is how God made me.

Pray for us tomorrow and Saturday. love char

Pray, Pray, Pray

Please pray for the Conference!

I am so excited about what God is doing in me as a result of really trying to work through issues biblically. Diagnosing what I am thinking and feeling, based on His Word instead of what I feel and think and my post modern, humanist left over world view is quite refreshing. It is black and white.. it is the sniper rifle (as Lou Priolo told me yesterday) instead of the shotgun. It does surgery in the heart and it changes behavior. The Living Word of God is precious and trustworthy.

I am being transformed by the renewing power of the Word. Wouldn't you like to be?

The law of the Lord is perfect.. restoring the soul.
