In case you were wondering, I wear underwear. Yep. I also have a knack to picking out matching lingerie once a month as a treat to myself and I thought I'd let you know about a new site I've tried out that is a monthly showroom company that lets you cater your style of undergarments to your liking. It's called Adore Me and I have to say it is pretty awesome. The fabrics and construction far out weigh their competitors like Victoria Secret. If you have a minute, go ahead and take their style quiz and take a gander at their pretty things. They also have super cute swimwear too and this is how I would style my favorite bathing suit.

If it seems as if I may be ignoring my blog and my blog reading, please note that I'm really just becoming more preoccupied with exploring life more intensely. Mixing and mingling with friends and spending time with a certain someone has kind of made it harder to want to open up my laptop. I have been spending time reading blogs, just not commenting much since it takes time out of my day, time I don't really have at the moment. We all go through spurts of busyness in our lives and at the moment I am immensely happy just turning off the electronics and connecting with people.

Ok, so now on to the outfit. This is a pretty vintage dress my friend gifted to me last year and I couldn't wait to wear it for a pretty spring day. It reminds me of something a child would wear on Easter what with all the chiffon and pretty pastel green. Or a pretty princess dress. I wore this to take my friend out to drag brunch on Mother's Day and then kept up the same look when I headed to my own mom's for dinner and Sopranos. That's right. Four hours of Sopranos. Quite the family event.

Okay, I blink and its summer. Like, the kind of humid heat that only negates shorts as appropriate clothing. That and a sheer top are among my priorities at the moment. This is one of those outfits that is perfect for lots of things. Hanging around the apartment, meeting friends for late night drinks, or cruising the thrift stores. Anyways, I just hung around with my sister watching Workaholics in this particular outfit, but it deserves its place on my blog. I'm sporting some new loafers from Urban Outfitters, so why not, right? Plus the black and brown version of my purse from Handbag Heaven.

While I may be looking like I'm ready to hit the town, unfortunately I'm sick with the common cold. Stuffy and just super lethargic don't lend themselves to hanging out with people so I figured the safest bet would be just to sit around with my sis, watch t.v. and drink some mojitos. Not that a doctor would suggest drinking mojitios to cure the common cold, but it does dull it's nasty side effects. Hehe..

A Feel Good Look

I'm feeling pretty right now. I love having those days, don't you? When you put a little more effort into your appearance and put on a pretty little frock and prance around like a moron because you feel so amazing. I've been enjoying happier moods as of late, so I guess that explains my high confidence and the fact I'm feeling pretty. As vain as all this sounds, sometimes it helps to feel good about yourself.

Another mood booster is listening to all kinds of music during my time to myself and reconnecting with bands I have lost touch with or forgot about. It takes me all back to highschool days. Reconnecting with my more youthful self has been kind of liberating. Except now I have bills, my own apartment and no one telling me what to do and when to do it. Again. This is a mood lifter.

Alright, about my outfit. I know it's sort of matchy matchy with all the grey tones, but it was easy and I felt good in it. Isn't that okay? I think so anyways. Summery dresses are still an awesome staple in my closet as of late, so I can't help but be tempted to throw one on when I'm on the go. On this particular day I was meeting a friend for some old fashions. Ever have one? They are delicious.

Hello, Hello!!!! Can we all believe that May is around the corner already? I'm quite taken aback by this realization. I'm thrilled that we've had such an awesome spring so far, but I am totally ready for summer to start rearing its ugly head. It's all in perspective. The hot sticky heat is miserable at times, but its also pleasant to be able to spend those warm summer evenings sitting on restaurant patios sipping on mojitos. Anyways, my mind is wandering to warmer places and I think having a new spring/summer bag is the reason for my wanderlust for warmer and hotter weather.

Doing It By Myself

Gosh guys!!! It's really hard doing this blogging thing all on my own. Taking my own photos has proved to be a chore, but I'll get a handle on it. Thank god my lens is automatic!!! Hahaha!! So please excuse these rather ridiculous photos, but I just really loved the outfit I was wearing this day. The Canvas by Lands' End dress is my favorite thing ever!! And I'm not much for plaid either, so I'm rather surprised this dress happens to be my go-to garment at the moment. The quality is just fantastic. I tried to make a rather wintry frock into something more summery since it happened to be 80 degrees this particular day. My suede platforms and cognac belt did the trick.

So here are the going ons in my life. I took a mini road trip to Ikea to purchase a few more things to make my apartment feel more homey and more me. Pillows, kitchen towels, trash cans, etc. Ikea is always a good excuse to take a road trip in my opinion. It's just fun to walk around and pretend you have unlimited cash flow and start planning your decoration ideas. Then you take those ideas and you run to the closest thrift stores to see if you can recreate it for less. That's how I roll.

What works better for an Easter garment than a yellow dress mixed with some pastels? Well, lots of stuff I guess, but for me a yellow dress is tops for spring holidays. I got this dress from the Lulu's event in Austin last month and have probably worn it a million times since then. It seemed only appropriate that I'd wear it for photos on Easter, or something. I dressed it up with a pretty pink belt and then jazzed up my fingers nails a little bit with robin's egg blue nail polish. You can tell I'm ready for spring when I'm donning pastels on my fingers.

My Easter was nice, but this year was the first year I didn't get a basket from my parents!!! Does this mean I'm all grown up now? Haha..I really miss my big fat chocolate bunny and my box of Peeps. I guess to remedy that I'll be hitting up my local drug store to buy some clearance holiday candy. Candy always tastes better when it's deeply discounted. Ask anyone.

Well folks, have a very pleasant Monday!!! Mine will be work work work, but in way I'm happy for it. Mondays typically fly by fast.

Rather Summery, Don't Ya Think?

Finally I'm back with an outfit!!! During the past few weeks, my inclination to getting dressed up was diminishing. I love wearing clothes, but these past weeks I was living out of a suitcase so nothing was quite creative enough to post. My accessories were non-existent, to say the least. Now that I have my own place with all my stuff I'm happy to throw on just about anything to give my outfit a certain razzamatazz. Like this turquoise necklace and straw hat!! It's been feeling rather summery so the straw hat was begging to be worn. The necklace just went with the outfit. haha...

So, recent events in my life....hmmm. Well, I'm finding a lot of time to hang out with friends, eat pizza, drink beer, and stay up late. It's like I'm reliving a part of my life that I never got to do. So there's that. I've also been preoccupied with grown up stuff like opening new bank accounts, utility accounts, and handling an annoying situation that involves part of my apartment getting a flooded. Yep. Fun stuff.

When the Happiness Melts Away

This is a terribly tough post to write. I'm writing this before I even start telling my extended family and even friends what is going on in my life. I hope to have written down some of my feelings in this post, in order to help articulate myself better when I do tell my family and friends. Although, most definitely I will be telling my family my news before I hit the publish button.

Ok, so here it goes. My husband Zach and I are getting divorced. As shocked as you all might be to hear it, most of my friends weren't all that shocked by the news. My blog is meant to be my sanctuary of all things fun, happy, and cute. Being a cute married couple used to be part of that. But after the past year and a half things had gone sour and I hate to admit this to the world, but I fell out of love with my husband. It's the worst feeling in the world to have to admit to that. I lost tons of sleep as I contemplated divorce in my mind for the last few months. My weight dropped almost 10 pounds, and my happiness was just gone. I found refuge in a lot of my friends. They may not have known everything that had gone on behind closed doors, but they had an idea. My happiness needs to be the forefront of my mind. And even though it will be tough being single since I haven't been on my own....well ever....I look forward to this next chapter in my life. It will include school again, freedom to do as I wish when I wish, and lots of heat and serve meals (joking about that last bit).

There is no easy thing about divorce and it's the scariest step I'm ever going to make in my lifetime. Zach was a huge part of my life and I love his family as much as my own so I would hope to never have to say goodbye to them forever. I'm going to conclude this by stating the fact that divorce is a huge suckfest. I might be emotionally ready for this, but the stress of everything will be daunting.

Caught Spring Fever

Yikes!!!! It's been a complete whole week since I last updated my blog!! Life has been one big ball of crazy and I haven't even been able to turn my computer on for three whole days. So excuse the break, please :) It's now another Friday which means another weekend is right around the corner. I have so much planned and so much on my plate but I need to keep my free time as busy as I can. It keeps me sane, at the moment.

So I wish I had many more photos of the Austin trip but it was just so darn rainy I was afraid of getting my camera all wet, so instead of another recap post, I decided to style a cute dress I got from Lulu's at their spin the wheel game. Apparently yellow is my color at the moment so I had to pick out this cute piece with the giant cut-out back ever. If there is one thing I like about my body, it'd probably be my back. So a dress that shows it off is right up my alley.

Lately, the weather has been straight up gorgeous in southern Virginia!! Lots of warm sunny days, mixed with heavy spring showers. It's barely springtime, and all of sudden it wants to act like summer!!! I'm afraid that most of my closet will then consist on backless dresses, only because of necessity. Haha..

Dreary Gloomy Fun Day

Last weekend in Austin, we had to deal with some terrible weather. Torrential downpours and thunder showers mixed with cold wind. Not what we all expected, but thankfully I was prepared by packing tons of tights. This pretty lace dress proved to be a way better match for tights, due to its short hem, so it all worked out. What didn't work out so well was a white dress on a rainy day. So it goes...

I wore this during the morning and afternoon while romping around at the Mentor Speed Breakfast and then on a mile long walk towards the South Congress district to eat delicious food and hang out with rad ladies (and their boys too). Eating migas for lunch and hitting up random vintage, flea, and boot shops made this day absolutely fantastic...despite the rain.

Just typing all this out is making me want to go back so badly. I don't think I could take the oppressive heat during summer months, but maybe I could totally see myself living there!!! It's such a friendly town.

While in Austin

Before I give you a pile of photos from my trip to Austin....(which I will by the way)...I thought I'd share with you an outfit I wore to the Texas Style Council. This was the first day that it was actually warm and dry, so I thought it only fitting to wear a sheer white embroidered vintage dress. This was probably the most perfect dress for a day like that Sunday. Warm weather like that just puts a pep in my step and I want nothing more than a light-weight sun dress. The fact that its vintage from the early 60s is just an added bonus.

The TXSC, organized by Indiana, was held in downtown Austin and we were located smack in the middle of all the cool happenings. South Congress was only a short mile walk away and there were lots of great restaurants and bars and food trucks by our head quarters. The event itself was really great and I'll be doing a post soon with photos from the conference and tidbits of what I learned while I was there.

The best part of the whole trip was spending it with so many wonderful people!!! Visiting with old friends and meeting new friends is the best!!! Its so cool to finally greet people in real life, when you otherwise only knew them through their blog. It kind of makes you love them more actually.

Hey Everyone!!! I'm finally back to a real outfit post!!! Thanks to dismal weather and constant crazy schedules I haven't had a decent outfit post in a long time!!! Today I'm gearing up for my trip to Austin for the Style Council conference and I am pumped. I'm also a tad bit nervous, but excited, to finally meet some of my favorite blogger people for the first time. I keep hearing about all the wonderful things Austin has to offer and I'm looking forward to really seeing the city first hand.

The other day I was thrifting with my friend and I found the prettiest plaid dress I had ever seen. It was a perfect size for me and it was Lands' Ends Canvas!! So stoked. I washed it up and wore it yesterday for my flight. It was kind of the perfect thing to wear on a flight since the fabric was thick and warm and it just made me feel a little bit more dressy for a day of travel. I'm in opposite land compared to most travelers and always like to dress up a little. I'm just not crazy about tons of jewellery, since you don't want to be 'that' person who screws up the security line with over accessorizing your outfits. I once saw a grown woman throw a temper tantrum because they asked her to remove her 5 necklaces and she had about 1 or 2 rings on each finger. Really? Haha..

A Brighter Day

Have you all finally noticed that the sun is setting much much later?!! I actually got to take pictures after work yesterday!!! I also can't believe that March starts tomorrow. That is just crazy too. Why does time past so so quickly? Now that the days are seeming longer and brighter it is also making me anticipate spring so much. Spring is my favorite season, and just the thought of it is making my SAD symptoms drift away.

This outfit was my work day outfit actually. I'm not accustomed to putting these outfits on the blog for various reasons (like work clothes can be kind of boring) but I really liked this outfit. It's simple, but the punch of my wooden platforms took it up a notch. I got tons of comments on my shoes and how crazy they were, but good crazy. When I wear 5 inch heels I'm nearly 6 feet tall. And for the record, these shoes were the most comfortable things ever.

So everyone enjoy this fabulous Wednesday!!! I'll be enjoying it with a late night movie session with my sister. I have yet to see Bridesmaids and we've been meaning to watch it for weeks now.

Style Evolution

As of late, it seems that my desire to wear vintage is kind of waning. It's a passing phase, I'm sure. Actually, a lot of my vintage is more spring/summer wear so I guess that is the reason. I'm kind of digging the more urban feel to my outfit. The huge platforms are always fun to wear around and then paired with a faux leather jacket and then the beanie, it just feels like a fun casual look for errand running and eating out at lunch.

Our style is always revolving, so I guess we should all just have fun with it :) I'm getting inspired by all the cute outfits I see pop up on my fashion week emails and thought it'd be fun to be a little more modern and sport shorts with super high platforms and a slouchy white tee. I also went a little crazy and put on a pretty purple bra underneath to add some color up top. Not too scandalous.

Beating the Blues

It's been so many days since I've last updated my blog!!! It's been quite a busy week, and dare I say, stressful. The kind of stress where you stop eating and sleeping. It's rough when your head and heart are in two different places and it begins taking a toll on yourself. And then when it manifests into physical ailments it just makes it worse. Things are on the mend though, so I hope to be back to my normal self soon.

Aside from all that, I'm still getting myself dressed for the days activities and enjoying other parts of my life. Today I took a day trip to Richmond to visit the lovely and talented Megan Neilsen to have lunch and do a bit of shopping. Oddly enough, it was cut short due to me getting acute food poisoning. C'est la vie :( At least we'll be visiting each other again soon in Austin!! I'm definitely excited for that.

Oh and a note about Goodwill's new concept store, Second Debut. There was one nestled in between the highly refined store fronts, Need Supply and American Apparel, and I'm glad Megan and I got to venture in and see what it was all about. The clothing is definitely higher grade (for a thrift store) and I do believe that they must have someone steam or iron the clothes since most everything was neat and tidy. But it is pricier than normal. Thankfully, the sales lady gave me 50% off for two orange tagged items....so at least they still do that :)

Finally, here is my country bumpkin look for a day full of laundry at my parents. I tried to not look so shabby while getting chores done.

Mod Movement

My outfit today was primarily influenced by all the cool mod films I watched over this past weekend. I highly suggest weird, out of this world, type of films. The first film I saw was Blow-Up. A movie about this mod photographer in London amongst the crazy sex and drug filled art scene. It's also a sort of murder mystery but he keeps forgetting the task at hand due to his desires to fornicate and then smoke weed. Yeah. But the models in the films had some cool style so I emulate them. Then the next film I watched was The Libertine. An Italian film about a widow who discovers her late husbands secret sex apartment full of perverse interests. She decides to then start exploring her own sexual fantasies and fetishes. Again, the styling and costumes are pretty awesome, so I can't help but be influenced....style wise that is.

Are there any films that influence your style? I know most people say Breakfast at Tiffany's, but that's pretty common. I would say Hepburn movies influenced my style too, but there are so many more cool artsy films from that era that have a lot more colorful moods and style.

Oh and I decided to wear this fun mod outfit doing the most un-mod thing ever. Duckpin bowling with the old folks at the local bowling alley. If you've never heard of duckpin bowling, I will enlighten you on Wednesday. It's pretty awesome :) Way better than regular bowling.

Bright Happy Colors

I'm really loving this new thing that I'm doing. Putting together neutral separates in varying shades is kind of a no-brainer, but then the fun comes in when you add contrasting pops of colors. My favorite combination of colors has to be blue and orange. It's fresh and makes me think of nice warm summer weather. It's interesting how certain colors can evoke different feelings and even seasons, so when you wear them, it can make you feel just a little more warmer and happier.

This bright blue scarf is perhaps, what is making me the most happy. It's super soft with pretty textural details in the fabric and it's just warm enough for those cool spring-like days. Oh and here is the new hair color. I'm sorry to say the sunlight was fading fast and the true redness of my hair is not very prevalent, but its there!!! Hopefully I can get better pictures soon. I am having fun trying to figure out what goes best with strawberry blonde hair.

Going through one of my friend's give-away piles of clothes is sort of the funnest thing ever. Especially when their style is so similar to yours!!! These boots and sweater were both given to me by my friend Brittany and it seemed serendipitous that I'd pair them together in the same outfit. The fact that they were sitting in the same plastic bag together may have had something to do with that as well. I can be kind of lazy sometimes. Luckily for me, my laziness gave me a pretty nice outfit!! hehe..

I wanted to keep everything super neutral with this look but then decided to throw caution to the wind and put on some purple tights. When I'm not in the mood to put on a ton of accessories or jewellery I always gravitate towards something else kind of fun for the outfit. That is where bright colorful tights come into the picture. It makes me feel put together but not in a fussy sort of way.

So I hope you all had a very nice start to your week!!! I have had a pretty great one!! I got my hair done for an upcoming shoot for a friend's portfolio and I'm now a pretty coppery shade of blonde!!! Be gone ashy brownish blonde!!! I really love seeing more red in my hair now. I'll be posting new pics of the hair later on this week.

A Dotty Uniform

Vintage sweater and mini dress? Check!!! I feel like this has been my uniform as of late. When I want to find something quick to wear from my closet I grab the closest cardigan and dress and hope it works. Fortunately for me, this worked out quite well, so I made Zach take pictures of it before I headed off to work. It was so glorious outside, that I didn't even need a coat and its just a comfy thing to wear for a long Friday at work.

Do you guys have a type of uniform? You know, something that you wear that you know will look nice and well put together, with very little thought. I know this outfit doesn't seem crazy cool or inventive or whatever, but if its something that makes me feel good, then I go with it.

So now the weekend is here and I should be sleeping in, I found myself struck with insane insomnia. This hits me randomly every few weeks and I usually just lay in bed trying to concentrate on nothing and just fall asleep, but it just doesn't happen. After laying there for about 6 hours I had enough and decided to watch a couple hours of hulu and do some blogging. I mean, what else is there to do when the whole world is asleep?

What a difference a couple of days make. This outfit screams girly to me. The bright floral dress, the orange tights and the opened toed wedges? Way, way different. Which is why I dress for my moods. I feel like I don't hone into one type of style in particular. I like to mix it up based on how I'm feeling. So if you see me in repetitive black ensembles, it's safe to say that I'm probably sad or something.

So, this is one of the dresses I scored from Modcloth during their Cabin Fever Sale, and I am in love. The fabric feels soft and silky, and the lace peter pan collar is just cutesy cute. All of the colors in the floral pattern make it so much fun to pair with just about any colored tights. I'd even say, maybe some bright teal ones, just to add some contrast.

Lastly, apparently wearing opened toed wedges with tights is still passé. I got the weirdest looks while in the cafe, but it could have also been because I was wearing the brightest tights know to man. Meh. I just shrug it off.

Pretty, Frilly, and Leather

Pretty and frilly is how I would best describe this dress. Its covered in flowers and ruffles in a cream and black motif. Quite similar to some curtains I used to have, actually. I saw it in a thrift store with the tags still attached and I kind of liked it but I wasn't sold on it completely. It was screaming, Easter Sunday too me. Naturally, my friend urged me to at least try it on. Here's something new you can know about me. I hate trying on clothes in the changing room. I'd equate it to a chore like washing dishes or folding laundry. But my friend is an avid believer in trying on anything that might have potential. Thankfully she was there with me on that fateful day of dress shopping. Hahaha...I make it seem so dramatic!!!

To combat the ultra girly vibe, I made sure to add some less saccharine elements. My leather and metal bracelets and leather jacket seemed to fit the bill and then the addition of the beanie. Coincidentally, I read my Refinery29 email this morning on tips for wearing beanies and I decided on the "Ashton" style to rock this frilly frock.

And the extra touch of fun came from my bracelets!!! I absolutely love these bracelets all together. The InPink metal and leather bracelet is such a great combination of materials and then the rhinestone and leather bracelets just add more texture.

A Swoon Worthy Vintage Shop

I recently visited one of my favorite favorite vintage stores (this includes all of the vintage stores I've visited across the country and this one is by far my favorite) With Lavender and Lace. Kelsie is the shop owner and does such a fantastic job of making a vintage boutique feel homey and welcoming. She may also have live music going on if you're lucky to stumble upon it. I wanted to introduce you guys formally to her shop, since most of my nice vintage has been bought from her store. She has an online store, With Lavender and Lace with just as many lovely things to peruse and buy.

Kelsie is talented in many many ways. Not just in the ways of merchandising a beautiful vintage store, but also in photography and music. Her collective arts are showcased on her blog, With Lavender and Lace and I highly suggest you check her out. There is just so much pretty to absorb on her site!!

And of course, no vintage boutique would be full without some cute kitschy housewares!!! I, for one, am loving the drunk bull glass. Why I didn't take that home, is beyond me!!
