It was very hot day, the fireman was spraying water on the street to cool down

Next Sketchwalk is the last one for 2019 Urban Sketchers Symposium.

New York Urban Sketcher friend found a good spot to sketch under the roof,
the penthouse of the OBA library of Amsterdam

2019-07-25-26 the First day of Amsterdam Trip

2019-07-26T20:55:00.010-04:00

I wanted to join the Urban Sketchers Annual Symposium since I join the New York Urban Sketchers. This year, I managed my vacation time to go few days.

http://www.urbansketchers.org/p/usk-amsterdam-2019_99.html

Start my vacation with a wine at JFK.

Watching "Isle of Dogs" on the airplane

Picking up my "I am Amsterdam" Card at the at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

https://www.iamsterdam.com/en/i-am/i-amsterdam-city-card

I choose 120 Hour City Card for free public transport and Museums.

Ride Nederland Sespoorwegen to the city. Very clean and quiet.

of course, I got lost...

but I found my way to Amsterdam Central Station

First, I need to have coffee after the flight and train ride.

I find a cute café close to the first Urban Sketchers' location online.

Zuivere Koffie

Utrechtsestraat 39, 1017 VH Amsterdam, Netherlands

https://www.yelp.com/biz/zuivere-koffie-amsterdam-2

made the first little sketch :)

Cute backyard

walking towers to my first Urban Sketcher's Symposium Sketchwalk location.

Sketching "Skinny Bridge"

I couldn't find the right hotel close to downtown because this trip was last minutes decision...

But this hotel was end-up to great choice. The hotel's room was big and clean,

serves great breakfast and great service.
Also, I realized the downtown has too many casinos, bar and marijuana cafés, so staying downtown could be very noisy.

Hotel Casa Amsterdam

Eerste Ringdijkstraat 4, 1097 BC Amsterdam, Netherlands

https://hotelcasa.nl/?utm_source=GMB&utm_medium=organic

there are canals everywhere

Today's restaurant is

De Kas

Kamerlingh Onneslaan 3, 1097 DE Amsterdam, Netherlands

http://www.restaurantdekas.nl/

Very famous for eclectic dishes made from organic ingredients grown on-site

menu changes every day

The restaurant serves fixed menus (lunch 3 or 4 dishes, dinner 5 0r 6 dishes). There is no à la carte.

Very creative dishes

so beautiful

very flavorful summer cabbage with miso

so many flowers 💕

It was the best experience at the restaurant in my life!

the best service and the best healthy food.

Starting Painting Again

2017-02-24T18:14:00.000-05:00

I haven't paint my style, Abstract Art, for long time. I found time this year to re-start painting because I finally graduated from the college end of the last year.

I dig out my old dusty paint and brushes from my closet. The theme of my new project is "Step Into Liquid".

I'm still working on it, but here is a section of my blue water painting.
Play around with texture is fun!

Sketching at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with NYC Urban Sketchers

2017-02-20T21:36:00.001-05:00

I attended the NYC Urban Sketchers event at my favorite museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art this Saturday. I sketched at the American Wing all day!

I'm challenging myself to sketch multiple objects in the one artwork for a while. It's difficult for me to sketch within short time with balance.... I need to work on more on it.

We met at the cafeteria for lunch and having fun chat about art, art technique, art supplies, place to sketch and more.

Went back to the American Wing. I went to the balcony to seek a good view.

At 3 pm, we gat gather at the cafeteria again and do show and tell.

I love everyone of artworks! It's my happy moment I can see others wonderful art and shear my passion of art.

My another artwork of the day.
