Spider Monkey..

wow.. what a fantastic weekend.. got to hear wisdom from successful people to share their thought on how to achieve what we want in life.

out of the many story that the people shared, one caught my attention is that how easy to catch a spider monkey. for those who do not know what is a spider monkey is, its an animal that people uses to train and get it to pluck the coconut that is on the coconut tree(for obvious reason).

so there is a story about how to catch a spider monkey is shared, and here is how it goes:
to catch spider monkey is easy. just prepare a heavy container that is wide at the bottom, narrow at the top and place a nut or food that the monkey wants. because the the top is narrow, the monkey have to squeeze their hand/fingers/paw to get the food that is in the container. and once in the container, the hand/fingers/paw gets too large for the monkey to pull out of the container. instead of letting go of the food, the monkey will sit and wait for the hunter to pick them up and put it in the bag.

easy to catch, wont you agree?

what caught my attention is that, are we like the spider monkey? are we clinging on to that one thing that is trapping us for the rest of our life? or are we willing to let something go in order to get out freedom??

What type of freedom are we talking?
i don't know. that is you to define. you define your own freedom, and what are you willing to let go in order to get that "freedom"?

Alor Star Hotel

hey there,

one tip of advice. if you are planning on to book a hotel for your vacation or family vacation, please find at least a hotel that have a good review or people have been to the hotel.

for my case, i didnt have much of a choice as the hotel is provided by the company. to start, the very 1st day we checked in, there was no water. you can check my earlier post. and that was like 2-3 weeks ago. and 2 days back, 14-03-2011, it happen again. and when complained, they inform that the pressure from Jabatan Air Darul Aman(SADA).

fine if the pressure is low. but thats not the customer problem. the hotel already know they have a water problem, work on it to fix it. but i suppose they didnt. just brush off customer complaint by claiming on other party.

and finally they got a water tank lorry to ferry water to the hotel. and guess what? when we wanted to use, it was as black as a coke and after some time, it was like a cup of tea. rust water is coming out from the tap and sink and we couldnt bath nor brush our teeth. and the best part is that they request us to bath at the toilet downstair which it WAS the toilet for their so-called cafe.

well, guess that if you are in the market for more than 20 years, you think that everything is fine and customer will still come. well, wake up call. your hotel is old, your bed cover have holes in it, your air-cond need servicing and yes, your piping system need to be clean.

if you guys are wondering what is the hotel i talk about, here it is. dont be fooled by the picture.

A Week In Alor Setar

what a week here in Alor Setar, Kedah in Malaysia. Let me start off on the day i arrive here in the northern part or Malaysia.

I arrive here on the 22 Feb 2011 morning at about 5 am. Me together with 2 other college,shahida and mohan, took a taxi to out designated hotel, Sabena Hotel, which is situated just across what i believe is the Stadium Alor Setar. first thing in the room is that the room is small. It is small for 2 fully grown man to be in. and what worst, me and mohan are to share a what i believe a queen sized bed. Man. That was just not right. hahaha.. but fortunately for us, we only stayed there for 3 days.

After 3 days, we checked out from Sabena Hotel and check-in at Regent Hotel, which is situated near to Mydin Mart Alor Setar, the place where i will working for the next 2-3 weeks. the thing is, although the regent hotel has a well known 3 star hotel in alor setar, to my opinion have not lived up to its name.

from the day we check-ed in to regent hotel, the water heater is not working and the water pressure is low. too low for me to take a shower using the shower. but the funny thing is that the water from the sink or next to the toilet bowl is ok and working fine. and we have change room to a so called working shower to bath. but, it is still the same result. and they say have report to JBAS or Jabatan Bekalan Air Alor Setar or the department that deal with water in Alor Setar to help solve this problem.

not to mention that everything here is old. the pillow is olr, the air-cond is old. and i dont think that they ever change the pillow or even service the aircond since they open decade's ago.

well thats all my blabs for today. hope the hotel could save this matter as soon as possible.
well. we could only hope that this matter is solve as soon as possible.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was first known as Saint Valentine's Day, is celebrated on 14th of February every year to celebrate love between couples or intimate companion.

But a few days ago, Malaysian news publish that some parties here in Malaysia is opposing the day that the whole world celebrate love for each other. Not only that, they are boycotting the day altogether saying it is a religion celebration.

It make one wonder, what are our future like if people like them are made to be out leaders of the nation. In stead of educate the youth to the right direction, they are implying to them not to embrace each other and understand each other religion.

We live in a country which consist of minimum 3 different races altogether. Instead of helping each other races to understand the other, we are seeing more insults thrown from one race to another race regardless it is made public or not by the so called "people election".

I used to remember my schooling years that my friends and i could call or tease each other "stupid", "kimak kau", "siut" in casual conversation without worrying that if i would offend them or not. But now, the slightest tease will end you beaten up or worst, start a "fight" which will end up in the news paper with the head line ""Youth Start brawl with "bodoh kau" insult""

well, time is changing and i do hope that 1 Malaysia will achieve its goal before Wawasan 2020, because when the day come, the world wont see us as a Malay country. The world will see us as MALAYSIA. ONE MALAYSIA. Where different background, different ethnic, different religion, come's together as ONE.

Kiara Ride

hi there. its been awhile since my last post.
well, i dont know what i should write actually. so here i am again. writing what happened in the recent days.

those who know me, or in my Facebook friend, knows that i had a mishap while riding at Mount Kiara, Kuala Lumpur last Sunday. As usual I ride with couple of friends that i got to know from Lowyat.net forum. we went on a new trail that day which is out of our normal weekly ride schedule.

so on the way back, we split up in two. 1 going a trail back down called the reversed lung buster. and the other is called carnival. i decided to take on the carnival, as i normally do.

so while riding and riding, we came across a rocky area. and i tell you, its rocky. so here i am, riding down, faster than the usual speed that i was supposed to and "slam" front tyre hit one of the rock and i tumble off my bicycle.

man that hurts. my left shoulder, rib and face hit the ground 1st. and man, that was the longest 5 minutes. almost cut my breath.

so in the end, the doctor said that nothing is dislocated and my rib have a chipped a little bit due to the impact.

well, that what you get when u didnt wear proper proctection.

my company that im working for is expending its business to the northern region of peninsular malaysia, Pulau Penang. and they are opening at bukit jambul. and because of this, we, as the company it-technical team, would have to setup the setting of network, cables, and other peripherals.

i used to remember to play in the rain when i was just a small little boy at my home town, Kuala Kubu Bharu otherwise known as KKB. that time, i could even be in the rain and all wet no matter how long and i wouldnt easily get sick

but a few days ago, i played in a heavy downpour and the next day im down with sorethroat. and next wat the flu and now headache. well thats what you get when playing in a poluted air like KL.

Router/Modem Ip Address

hi there,

while most of us know what is our own pc/laptop ip address, many still not aware that all the equiptment that connected to network do have their own ip address like example wifi devices, modem, and router. and some might know what their router and modem ip address and some otherwise. so here im sharing how to locate your router/modem or router ip address.

there are a few method to search for it.

Method 1: Control panel

- navigate to your "START" button located by default at the bottom left of the screen.
- click on "CONTROL PANEL" and
- Navigate to "NETWORK & SHARING CENTER" for Vista and 7 or "Network Connection" for XP & open it
** for 7, go to "Change adaptor settings"

- Inside, you will be able to see your connection either LAN or Wifi or both. Double click to open and

- Navigate to "Details" for vista & 7 or "Support" tab for XP

as you can see, ip address is your pc/laptop address and default gateway is your router ip address.

Method 2: Command Prompt

* open Command prompt by start-run-type "cmd" and click ok

*type "ipconfig /all" and it will show as below

there you go. your ip and your router ip, which is the default gateway.

this step will come in handy if you want to do a basic network troubleshooting at your own home.

Another Tower In Middle Of KL??

Hi there,

News is going around that Malaysia Prime Minister, Dato Sri Najib Razak (Najib), is planning to build a 100-story building to our Malaysia next landmark which is going to be name "Warisan Merdeka".

I'm wondering does Malaysia need this new project, which the cost is proposed to be RM5billion or could be more? With the existing building, road and traffic condition in, out and surrounding KL, the Government is still going ahead with the mega project. Does this project really going to improve Malaysia economy?

1. Does KL need this tower?
2. Will the surroundings area will benefit from this tower?
3. Will there be enough parking space as parking place is a problem anywhere in KL?
4. Who will benefit from this project? The government? The government relative? The project Contractor? The Rakyat of Malaysia(Upper class or lower class or the below lower class)?
5. Will public transport be better after the completion of this project?

The above question should be answered before they even think of going ahead with this project. There's a lot of facilities need to be improve first, like public transport, traffic congestion and poverty. Those are the things that need to be taken care of than building a white elephant in the middle of already-jammed-up-city of KL.

Hope the government think what is wise and invest the 5billion to where it should be.

Windows 7 Network Address

hi there, some of you have finally upgraded your windows xp or windows vista to the all new windows 7. and some of your are wondering, where can i find my local area connection to get my ip address. well, here's are a simple guide on how you could obtain your ip address.

there are 2 way's to find your computer ip address and the steps are not so different from both previous Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Method 1:
Locate "Network" icon. it should be at the bottom right of screen. near the "Time and Date". It should look like this. click the network icon and click "Open Network and sharing center"

click the network icon and click "Open Network and sharing center". you can also access this page through "start>control panel>network and sharing center"

Click open "Change adapter settings". in there you will see your "Local Area Connection". in my case, i have an extra network because i'm using a network card.

Double click on your active network card and it will display your connection status. Click on "Details" and you should be able to see your ip address.

The ip address varies on how you configure your router to assign DHCP to your devices. as in my case, i set my router to assign DHCP ip range start from 192.168.3.??. Do take note that different setting will result to different ip as well as different gateway, which is your modem ip address.

Method 2

method 2 is much more simpler way. all you need is to type a few command using the command prompt and you can get your ip address. To open command prompt, you need to:

1. Start -> run -> type "cmd" -> ok

2. Start -> all programs -> accessories -> command prompt.

A black dos window will pop open and all you need to do is to type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes and press "enter". and viola, you have your ip address.

And there you have it. 2 simple method to get your ip address for windows 7.

Inspira by Proton

well well now. proton have done it again. producing a new car called inspira from short of inspiration. one can't help to wonder where exactly the inspiration came from to create or rather copy 1:1 from the Mitsubishi lancer.

well, who am i to judge the decision making of the guy that manage proton and to copy mitsubishi and rebadge the lancer and call it inspira. and with the slogan "smart guy gets it". what does it really want to call out to? only smart guy will buy it? smart guy will get it why copy the lancer? smart guy get it how proton works? gets what?
and it comes with a mivec engine.

sadly, after 27 years, proton still depending on foreign car manufacture for the blueprint and for engine. i could only guess the dialog between the engineers will be as:

Engineer 1:
"gather around fellers. we have a new project. our MD have get hold a blueprint for the lancer. like the previous projects, lets see where can we change the interior and exterior so that it wont be the same as the lancer"

Engineer 2:
"lets change the rev and speedo meter. from lancer's right rev meter, we change it to left rev meter for the new project. and the lancer left speedo meter to the right for the new project."

Engineer 1:
"sounds good. anyone else"

Engineer 3:
" how bout the middle info screen we change to clarion cd player. that will cut some cost"

Engineer 1:
"ok. anyone else?"

Engineer 2:
"we might want to change the front and back bumper. and add our own proton logo. make it look more sporty. that way its unique."

Engineer 1:
" yea yea. good idea. that way we can call it Inspiria short for inspiration. cool huh"

i could only imagine the engineers have no sense of originality and can only copy and paste like a photostat machine to come up with mitsubishi rebadge and call it malaysian car.

one hand applaud the magnificant achievement for proton to copy other make car and on the other feel's that proton are going out of business and the only way to revive its popularity is to cloud citizen of malaysia with rebadge.

well, lets just see if the next few month the new inspiria will give its owner any problems like the other proton's car

so sleepy.. well, i will be off to sleep right after posting this.

you guys might wonder y am i so sleepy. well first off, i couldnt get much of sleep last night as it was freaking hot. even i have a table fan blowing direct at me and im shirtless... i have my pants on.. ok..

and in the morning, went to office and get some item and head off to one of the company branch. the streamyx is down again. it was just fix in the afternoon the day before and it went down again at night. good job TM for providing Citizen of Malaysia the internet but didnt have the resource to maintain it.

after im done with the site, went back and did some cable crimping. well, if you guys want to crimp or make your own cable, im pretty sure there's alot of web site around to show you how.

its been a while since i last update on this blog of mine. Basicly what i always do when im on the net or on my computer is that i go on FB, open some forum, search here and there but mostly is on Garena playing the game called Defend of The Ancient or DoTA for short.

and i really dont have much to talk or blabs about here or there which makes me less updating this blog. but come to think of it, i might just get started to post something, or just anything here.

im here to also share the joy that my bicycle is now working fine after repair the rear derailluer. the reason being that the hanger that connect the derailluer to the body have somehow broken into two pieces while i was cycling to work one fine day. so i end up buying the hanger which cost me about RM20 and RM15 for the chain quick link because i have broken the link in between the chain while attempting to self-repair the bike.

oh, and i change my derailluer from sram x5 to sram x7 because of compatibility with other shifter like shimano or other brands out there. and to add to it, service the cables for brek's and derailluer to make it more smoother shifting.

it is fun riding to work. watching other people sitting in their car, waiting for the traffic light to change to green and sometime waiting for the police traffic to ease the flow. it can take up to 15-20 minutes at least in the peak hour. now, cycling only takes me 10 minutes from my house gate to my office parking area. what more can you ask?

even when my current working place rules not making any human sense, it does save me time and my expenses too..

just to share about how people can scam other just by showing a little interest on thing you guys post on -market like ebay, lelong and even mudah.com.my.

here's the thing. i posted up an advertisement few days ago to sell my beloved bicycle on www.mudah.com.my. the ad went up and here comes an email from a guy claiming his name as "matthew" and "james". their tactic are quite simple.

1. send a mail asking the price.
2. after you reply the mail saying your price, they will add a little more so that you could pay the surcharge from paypal. if you don't have paypal, they will ask you to open one.
3. they will inform that their currier service will pick up the item for them to ship to some other country when they already stated that they are in UK. doesn't make any sense rite?

so if you guys post something to sell, and some one reply you the minute that the ad's are up, there's something to look out for.

Come to realise that Malaysia is 53 years old this year and to me and have a lot of growing up to do. Yes we are free, that is free from people who conquer us. But are we totally free from our self? One may see that we are one big happy family, but are we REALLY one big happy family? One doesn't say, but others may feel it.

Many things in Malaysia that we have to change, learn and teach. All for the good of MALAYSIA and the people in it. It is going to be hard, but if we do it together, as 1 Nation, we will become 1 Malaysia.

What a tiring day..

I woke up today trying to think what to do.. And then I realize that I have bought a bicycle the other day and what other day is better than today to take it a ride when the sun is shining and the weather is just great.

So I decided to take it a ride. I started my ride slow as I’m since it’s been awhile that I last ride a bicycle. So I took it ride to a trail leading up to a water reservoir near my house. Along the way, I saw water gushing out from the hill side. I think the water pipe has burst and no one realizes it. Sooner or later the whole Putra Heights area is going to have water shortage.

Back on track, after going up to the water reservoir, I went back down to the main road using the tar-ed road. Once there, I made my way to the other side of the hill which I presume that there’s a road connecting it to the one that I 1^st took. But my assumption is wrong. There is no connecting road let alone a small trail to cut through.

Then I tracked back and went up to a small road that was heading up to the telecommunications tower. The road was paved and un-paved and even too steep to cycle up. So I got down pushing my bicycle up. After a few feet, there’s a not-so-steep road where I could cycle. So I hopped on and start to ride. And then all of the sudden, there’s another steep hill. So I tried to cycle up but fail and then there a sound. The sound of my pants tearing.

“Oh Shit. At the time like this. Plus got someone coming at the back. What the heck?? Where am I going to fine a sewing kit at a place like this?”

Almost at the top, I rested a while. And there a dude, which also riding came along. Name was sharil. Have a little chat and he went off continuing his ride while I waited till he is gone before starting off.

On the way down, I decided to take a trail road. Which to my shock, it’s as steep as the way up. Luckily the brake works fine on the way down. I manage to work my down even though almost lost my way in the process.

It was a fun experience to me and the next time hope to be more prepared for this kind of trails and get another pants to cycle.
