Missing Malaysia plane: Investigators study pilots' background

Malaysian police have searched the homes of the pilots of the Malaysia Airlines plane that vanished eight days ago with 239 people on board.

The police are also reportedly looking at family life and psychological state of pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah, 53, and co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid, 27.
This comes after the authorities said the communications systems of the plane had been deliberately disabled.
The Kuala Lumpur-Beijing flight is believed to have then changed course.

According to satellite evidence, the Boeing 777 could have continued flying for a further seven hours after its last radar contact, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said.

He added that the plane could be anywhere from Kazakhstan to the Indian Ocean.
Mr Razak stopped short of saying it was a hijacking, saying only that they were investigating "all possibilities".
In a separate development, India on Sunday suspended its search for the plane around the remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands and also in the Bay of Bengal.
Delhi said it acted at the request of the Malaysian authorities.
China - which had 153 citizens on board flight MH370 - has urged Malaysia to continue providing it with "thorough and exact information" on the search.
'Elaborate suicide' The Kuala Lumpur homes of Mr Zaharie and Mr Fariq were searched on Saturday, a senior police officer familiar with the investigation was quoted as saying by Reuters.
"We are not ruling out any sort of motivation at the moment," the official said.
The authorities have so far released no new details on the pilots' investigation.
However, nothing has been ruled in or out - so terrorism, piracy or even an elaborate suicide are all options now being considered, the BBC's Jonah Fisher in Kuala Lumpur reports.
Mr Zaharie joined Malaysia Airlines more than 30 years ago, and was considered a very experience pilot.
Mr Fariq recently recently graduated to the cockpit of a Boeing 777. It is believed that he was considering marriage.

It was also reported that Mr Fariq had drawn scrutiny after he and another, unnamed pilot invited two female passengers to sit in the cockpit during a flight in 2011, according to the Associated Press.
'Two corridors'
The flight left Kuala Lumpur for Beijing at 00:40 local time (16:40 GMT) on 8 March and disappeared off air traffic controllers' screens at about 01:20.
Mr Razak told a news conference on Saturday that new satellite evidence shows "with a high degree of certainty" that the one of the aircraft's communications systems - the Aircraft and Communications Addressing and Reporting System - was disabled just before it had reached the east coast of Malaysia.
ACARS is a service that allows computers aboard the plane to "talk" to computers on the ground, relaying in-flight information about the health of its systems.

Shortly afterwards, near the cross-over point between Malaysian and Vietnamese air traffic controllers, the plane's transponder - which emits an identifying signal - was switched off, he said.

According to a military radar, the aircraft then turned and flew back over Malaysia before heading in a north-west direction.
A satellite was able to pick up a signal from the plane until 08:11 local time - more than seven hours after it lost radar contact - although it was unable to give a precise location, Mr Razak said.
He went on to say that based on this new data, investigators "have determined the plane's last communication with a satellite was in one of two possible corridors":

a northern corridor stretching from the border of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan through to northern Thailand
a southern corridor stretching from Indonesia to the southern Indian Ocean

The BBC's Jonah Fisher in Kuala Lumpur says investigators will now focus on trying to obtain the radar data from any of the countries the Boeing 777 may have passed over.
This could include Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India and Pakistan.
Along with the Chinese passengers, there were 38 Malaysians and citizens of Iran, the US, Canada, Indonesia, Australia, India, France, New Zealand, Ukraine, Russia, Taiwan and the Netherlands on board.
An extensive search - involving 14 countries, 43 ships and 58 aircraft - since the plane disappeared had proved fruitless.

K-pop star Ko Young-Wook Denies forcing 3 Girls to bed with him

Two more victims have accused beleaguered South Korean pop star Ko Young-Wook, already under investigation on allegations of sexual assault. The new charges were filed last week.

Ko, a former member of the K-pop group Roo'Ra, had previously denied the charge that he intentionally made an aspiring 18-year-old female entertainer drunk in order to make love with her at his home.

Investigations determined that Ko had enticed the alleged victim by telling her in a phone call that he would help her become a star. He then picked her up in his car, drove her to his home, encouraged her to drink and made love with her.

Ko admitted sleeping with the girl, but said it was consensual and that he didn't know she was a minor.

According to police in Yongsan, the 36-year-old was summoned again on Tuesday to give his statement on a new sexual assault charge by two other girls, one of who is reportedly a 14-year-old middle school student.

After police questioned him for more than 10 hours. Ko told reporters that he would "cordially cooperate with the police for additional investigations".

You don't need to stop or reduce eating to lose weight. Here are what you need to eat to lose weight :
1. Eggs. Skip the bagel this morning. Eggs, which are full of protein, will help you feel fuller longer-a lot longer.
2. Beans. You've probably never heard of cholecystokinin, but it's one of your best weight-loss pals. A study of eight men found that their levels of the hormone (which may work by keeping food in your stomach longer) were twice as high after a meal containing beans than after a low-fiber meal containing rice and dry milk. High-fiber beans can lower your cholesterol.
3. Salad. Control that calorie intake by starting with a large salad (but hold the creamy dressing). In a study of 42 women at Penn State University, those who ate a big, low-cal salad consumed 12 percent less pasta afterward-even though they were offered as much as they wanted. The secret, say researchers, is the sheer volume of a salad, which makes you feel too full to pig out.
4. Green tea. The slimming ingredient isn't caffeine. Antioxidants called catechins are what help speed metabolism and fat burning. In a recent Japanese study, 35 men who drank a bottle of oolong tea mixed with green tea catechins lost weight.
5. Pears. They're now recognized as having more fiber, which decreases blood-sugar levels, helping you avoid between-meal snacking. This may explain why, in a Brazilian study that lasted 12 weeks, overweight women who ate three small pears or apples a day lost more weight than women on the same diet who ate three oat cookies daily instead of the fruit.
6. Soup. A cup of chicken soup is as appetite blunting as a piece of chicken: That was the finding of a Purdue University study with 18 women and 13 men. Why? Researchers speculate that even the simplest soup satisfies hunger because your brain perceives it as filling.
7. Lean beef. Eating anywhere from nine to 10 ounces of beef a day on a roughly 1,700-calorie diet helped the women lose more weight, more fat, and less muscle mass than a control group consuming the same number of calories, but less protein. The beef eaters also had fewer hunger pangs.
8. Olive oil. Fight off middle-age pounds with extra virgin olive oil. A monounsaturated fat, it'll help you burn calories. The women who ate the oil-laced muesli boosted their metabolism.
9. Grapefruit. It's back! A 2006 study of 91 obese people conducted at the Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center at Scripps Clinic found that eating half a grapefruit before each meal or drinking a serving of the juice three times a day helped people drop more than three pounds over 12 weeks.
10. Cinnamon. Sprinkle it on microwave oatmeal or whole-grain toast to help cure those mid-afternoon sugar slumps. Research from the U.S.
Department of Agriculture found that a little cinnamon can help control post-meal insulin spikes, which make you feel hungry.
11. Vinegar. It's a great filler-upper. In a Swedish study, researchers found that people who ate bread dipped in vinegar felt fuller than those who had their slices plain. Vinegar can also short-circuit the swift blood-sugar rise that occurs after you eat refined carbs such as white bread, cookies, and crackers.
12. Tofu. It seems too light to be filling, but a study at Louisiana State University showed that tofu does the job. Overweight women who had tofu ate less food during the meal. The secret: Tofu is an appetite-quashing protein.
13. Nuts. Yes, they are fattening: A handful of peanuts is about 165 calories. But research shows that people who snack on nuts tend to be slimmer than those who don't. Walnuts contain omega-3 fatty acids. And researchers at Loma Linda University recently found that eating 10 to 20 whole pecans daily can reduce heart disease risks.
14. High-fiber cereal. Studies show that you can curb your appetite by eating a bowl for breakfast. Those who'd had the highest-fiber cereal ate less than those who didn't have as much fiber in the morning.
15. Hot red pepper. Eating a bowl of spicy chili regularly can help you lose weight. In a Japanese study, 13 women who ate breakfast foods with red pepper (think southwestern omelet) ate less than they normally did at lunch. The magic ingredient may be capsaicin, which helps suppress appetite.

A father film his daughter in shower as a punishment

He made a video of his teenage daughter in the shower. He claimed he did it to punish her because she had been naughty.
But Assistant Public Prosecutor Harvinder Kaur rebutted the man's mitigation.
The man, 49, and his daughter cannot be named to protect the girl's identity.
APP Harvinder said in court last Tuesday: "Teens have problems and every parent goes through it. What you did was far beyond how a parent should discipline a child."
The man pleaded guilty to one charge of outraging the modesty of a woman. Another charge of possessing 91 obscene video files in his phone is being taken into consideration.
The incident happened some time between January 2009 and March 2010 at the family home in the south of Singapore.
The girl, who was 14 then, was taking a shower in the master bedroom toilet when she saw her father's phone sticking out of his jeans hanging there.
It was in recording mode.
She removed the phone and played back the recording, horrified at what she saw.
School counsellor
She eventually told her school counsellor, who informed the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
A police report was lodged on April 19, 2010.
District Judge Eddy Tham questioned the lapse of time between the lodging of the police report and the accused being brought before the court.

APP Harvinder explained that the girl was so traumatised by the incident, she requested not to see anyone.
There was no further information available on what caused the delay.
Said APP Harvinder: "The victim is the accused's biological daughter, and she was only 14. Because of the accused, the victim refuses to go home. She feels vulnerable."
It is not known with whom and where she is currently living.
The man, who is on bail, is expected to return to court next month for sentencing.

These girls, 14-26 years of age, are initially divided to 3 sub – groups; Team A, Team K, and Team B. Annually, around 1.4 million fans vote for their favorite members who will be recording the group’s next single. Last year, the group earned more than US$200 million in CD sales.
Unlike other big girl groups like South Korea’s SNSD and KARA, AKB48’s members are selected by fans and change annually. Also AKB is more accessible to fans, who can visit shows and attend hand–shaking events right after. Many of them are not professional or trained entertainers, and that is another reason why common people love them. Many fans think of them as their friends or even little sisters.
Taiwanese student Yi-wen Kao said, “’You get to watch them grow. In the beginning, perhaps they weren’t very good, but then later you see them evolve and shine on stage.” Yi-wen was one of the three lucky fans from abroad to participate in the group’s elections at Tokyo’s Budokan Hall.
Yasushi Akimoto, the producer and also the group’s founder, called them “’idols whom you can go and meet in person.”, when he formed the group back in 2005. Members have their own personal blogs that are open for fans to read. The group even has DVDs that show some backstage scenes, personal problems and conflicts within the group.
Akimoto is now taking the AKB fever abroad by creating “clone” groups. There is already from Shanghai (SNH48), from Taipei (TPE48), and the most successful clone yet, JKT48 form Jakarta.
”I wasn’t fully confident (AKB) could make sense to anybody but the Japanese, and I thought hurdles would be higher overseas, but I want to tell everyone that ‘let’s have confidence.’ Today the world is watching Japan, and we are also watching the world.” These are Akimoto’s statements during a recent TV interview.
According to Takuro Morinaga, an economist at Dokkyo University whose expertise include the ”otaku” culture, Japanese are not into big superstars like Lady Gaga. ”They are certainly cute, but not outstanding beauties,” he said. ”You can probably find one in your classroom, and that’s what makes them likable.”
Joseph Salmingo from of El Monte, California, who also participated in the group’s elections, said ”There’s just so many of them and each one has their own story,” ”It’s kind of like a reality show.”

Red Carpet Trends: Summer LBDs

While prints, neons and tie dye are perfect for summer days, when the sun goes down, black still rules.
This was definitely the case on the red carpet this weekend as LBDs dominated at the Spike TV’s ‘Guys Choice’ Awards.
Mila Kunis (in Lanvin), Emma Stone (in Versace), Malin Akerman (in Emporio Armani) and Kate Beckinsale (in Tom Ford) all wore black; as did Dianna Agron, hosting the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
The Queen of the LBDs, Jennifer Aniston (in Valentino), also jumped on the trend this weekend at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.
Charlize Theron is the other star who is opting for LBDs a lot this summer.
She at least punches up her look with a bright pink lip colour and statement heels, which is the key to working a LBD as a chic, easy breezy look this summer.

Singapore man found his wife working as freelance whore in Geylang

A 51 year old Singaporean uncle got the shock of his life when he saw his wife working as a freelance whore in Geylang!
Geylang is one of the designated Red Light district in Singapore with legalized brothels, but many foreign women ply their trade there as well by standing along its narrow alleys and soliciting for customers publicly.
Speaking to queries from the media, the man who is working as a security guard claimed that his wife left home recently after being ‘enticed’ by another man, leaving him and their two children in the lurch.
It is not known if his wife is a local or foreigner and he did not reveal why he was at Geylang at that moment in time.

Students found teachers' 20-minute sex video.

A group of students were browsing files on the school's computer server when they found something totally unexpected. It was a video of the school's two strictest teachers -- having sex for 20 minutes.
The teachers were from an international school here, and were described as students to be like 'Voldermort' (the antagonist from the Harry Potter series) as he is very stern and always wears black; and the woman was said to be one of the strictest teachers there.
Although the teachers, who are dating and could get married soon, have finished their contracts and left the school, some of the students who viewed and in turn, shared the video, know who they are. The video has also gone viral on ********.
The sex video, taken from what seems to be a mounted camera, shows a naked man and a woman in a camisole, underwear and high-heel shoes. They are having sex in a bedroom.
According to the report in The New Paper, a spokesperson said there was no breach in the school's IT security, but the school has briefed its senior leadership, so they can share the learnings from the incident and promote the responsible use of technology with the senior students in the upcoming academic year.
