How to fix e-nomination error and view your EPF passbook online

Do you want to view your EPF passbook but are running into "Dear member, for viewing Member Passbook, filing of e-nomination is compulsory" error? While the straight forward way is to file e-nomination had the e-nomination site has been running normally. Since it's down too, here is a workaround to view your passbook:

1. Download UMANG APP (by Government of India) via play store or app store.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to login

3. Search for EPFO in the search bar - which is on the top right on the screen.

4. Select "View Passbook"

5. Enter your UAN details and OTP

Missing PF balance added. Check your passbooks now

If you are a contributor to EPFO and keep track of your contributions you would have noticed that September, 2021 contribution was missing from the EPFO passbook. Many netizens have voiced concern's over the missing contribution.

EPFO has confirmed that the missing contribution is now added and should be reflected in the passbook. With 8.5% interest rate and various tax benefit's - EPF is one the popular investment avenue.

Here is how you can check your EPF passbook:

Go to: https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login
Enter your UAN and password details.
Select your member ID
Click on New passbook to see the monthly balance

How to check and link PAN - Aadhar card

Government of India mandates everyone to link their Pan and Aadhaar card, while they've extended the deadline to June 30, 2021 its prudent to check and link the cards now to escape last minute rush. Here is how you can check and link your Pan and Aadhaar:

Checking if you PAN is already linked to Aadhaar:

Step 1: Visit https://www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-FilingGS/Services/AadhaarPreloginStatus.html

Step 2: On the screen enter your PAN and Aadhaar details and click on 'View Link Aadhaar Status' button

Step 3: You'll see the link status. In case it's not linked see below.

Linking PAN and Aadhaar:

Step 1: visit: https://www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-FilingGS/Services/LinkAadhaarHome.html

Step 2: enter the details on the screen

Step 3: Request OTP - please note that OTP will be sent to you Aadhaar registered mobile number

Step 4: Click on 'Link Aadhaar'

Planning Commission of India to hold first ever hackathon

Looks like government is taking full advantage of Social Media. The recent Google+ hang outs by planning commission and Finance Minister are one among many initiatives taken up by the government to engage with the citizens so as to bridge the gap that exists between government and citizens.. Planning commission also recently activated its twitter handle. It looks like government is exhaustively using social media to engage with citizens.

The next step in this direction is planning commission will hold a 32 hour hackathon in association with 12 premier institutions across India involving many youngsters on April 6th and 7th. This event calls for the participants to create visualizations, short movies, mobile apps etc.

Also, Ahluwalia will for the first time will participate in a live interaction on Google Hangout on Friday on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Commission. The interaction will be from 1700 Hrs on Friday.

India is developing world's largest magnet

India is rapidly moving forward in the field of Science and Technology. It is known fact that the largest solar telescope is being built by Indian in Ladakh. Now, India's Baba Atomic Research Center(BARC) is developing worlds largest magnet. Currently, the worlds largest magnet is at CERN in Geneva and ranges between 4000 and 5000 tons. The largest magnet that is being developed by India would weigh around 50000 tons.

This magnet will play a crucial role in India-Neutrino Observatory which is being set up 4300 feet below the cave in the mountain in Tamil Nadu.
