Hey guy's(and gals)! I have a reaaaally BIG favor to ask. Vote for the Philippines' ONLY entry for the New 7 Wonders of Nature entry, the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR)!!!

So what is this New 7 Wonders of Nature? According to Wikipedia:

New7Wonders of Nature is an initiative started in 2007 to create a list of seven natural wonders chosen by people through a global poll. It is being led by Canadian-Swiss Bernard Weber and organized by the New7Wonders Foundation, a Swiss-based, government-controlled foundation. This campaign follows the New Seven Wonders of the World, which attracted 100 million votes from around the world.

Why am I so ecstatic about it? Because we only have 3 DAYS remaining before the voting closes! And best of it is that the PPUR is in the top 10!! (Click here to read the article) How awesome is that?!!

Well, you might be wondering if I have ever been there. The answer is YES. And to tell you the truth,
it was an awesome journey! It was an adventure of mixed emotions from anticipation to excitement, serenity to awe, and appreciation! Of again, how awesome and how wonderful God's creations are.

What is in it for me? As a Filipino, I am proud of the natural wonders our country has to provide, from majestic mountain ranges to the lush deep valleys, from the magnificent forests to the vibrant marine life of your seas, it is everything to be proud of! Also, hopefully, when we win this, we can increase the awareness not only in our country but to all the world that we should take better care of our natural resources and stop the horrendous exploitation and overuse of these resources, so that we can showcase these pristine ecosystems to the next generation.

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’. Aw, c’mon…It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? So I thought maybe... I should read the contents to check out the facts!

I didn’t believe it the first time I heard it’s got no preservatives added. So I read the ingredients (even the fine print) and everything checked out! It really has NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED! That means it doesn’t have ingredients that may turn out to be allergens, or worse...carcinogens! Whew! Now that’s healthy goodness that tastes so good, I... think it's the best orange juice drink out there! No preseravatives plus the real pulpy goodness. What's more to ask right!

Another cool thing that I found this out from one of the nation's leading blogging and social media personality. None other than Janette Toral! Yipee!

Paid to Click sites: Differentiate the Legit from the Fakes

Pay To Click sites. They have been around for quite some time now. And what are they? Their speaks for themselves. Simply put, you register on their site as a member. Click on the advertisements that you need to click at and earn some cash. Yes. Cash. I'm not kidding.

Although, I advise that you to be very very weary and wise. Why? Because there are tons of PTC sites out there that are just a load of rubbish.

So, how to we spot the legits from the fakes? The philosophy behind it is actually quite simple. If it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't.

Here are some of the
usual characteristics that Legit PTC sites share:

1. They pay you from $0.0025 to $0.03 per advertisement you click. Usually, $0.03 to $0.05 is there maximum. So any PTC site exceeding those will be automatically be scam.

2. You collect your money either through PayPal, AlertPay or send you a check.

3. Upon registration, they will send you a verification code that you must then use to authenticate your registration.

4. In some cases, if you have a different email address for registration and a different email address for your PayPal or AlertPay account, the PTC site would send you 2 different verification from each email address that you use. This is usually a sign that the PTC site is serious about you and their business.

5. So, when do you get the money you've earned? Usually, legit PTCs would set a minimum 'payout'. For example, NeoBux, has their minimum payout amount set at $2.00 (two US dollars) for your first payout request, $3.00 (three US dollars) for the second, $4.00 (four US dollars) for the third and so on until $10.00 (ten US dollars). This means that when you reach or go beyond this limit, you can request your earned money. This again greatly varies depending on the PTC site's policies and rules.

6. How long is the payment transaction time? It again depends, it can either be an instant payment or sometimes it takes at most a month for you to receive your payment.

7. The number of ads you can click per day usually range from 4-6 a day, or the equivalent price. Some also show ads at random times of the day.

Here are some of the usual characteristics that Fake PTC sites share:

1. Fake PTC sites will pay you some outrageous amount. Instead of paying you the usual $0.01 to $0.04, they'll pay you a whopping $1 to even $5 per click. But they really won't.

2. They also tell that you will get paid through PayPal, AlertPay or through check. They won't do this either.

3. Sometimes they will require you to provide a verification code but most of the times, they won't.

4. They also have the same payment methods, saying they will be paying you once you've met the minimum payout. There was a PTC site back then telling that you could earn $1 per ad and their minimum payout is $1000. I knew this was a scam, but I gave it a shot just in case. But of course, as expected, the payment never arrived.

5. Usually, fake PTC payout time are the same with those of their legitimate counter parts. But still, they won't pay you.

6. Some would pay you the first time, but then, after you have hit your minimum payout the next time, they will require you to register for a "premium account" which you have to pay for using either, PayPal, AlertPay or credit.

I would personally prefer sites that send payments through PayPal or AlertPay rather than sites sending checks. Why? Because, when a PTC site sends payments through Paypal or AlertPay, they would only need to know what your PayPal or AlertPay email address is. On the other hand, if a PTC site sends payments through checks, this means, that you will be providing them with important information, usually, the address where you live. This for me, is quite unwise. Well, that's just my opinion. It's up to you what method you would prefer. Just think my opinion as a friendly advice.

What if you want to know if the site is Legit or Fake before registering? Easy. Google it up. Read a couple of articles regarding the PTC site in question. Usually, there would be articles around the net telling if the site is for real or for fakes. Also, beware that some of these fake PTC sites can also pay article writers to write about them telling that their PTC sites are legit. So you have to weight the situation.

The good thing about PTC sites is that it doesn't take a lot of your time to earn. Just a few seconds per ad while checking your Facebook or browsing to the net everyday is good enough. Another way that you earn from them is through referrals. The more referrals you have under your name, the more you earn!

Protecting your self from Cyber Crime

The number of Internet users have exploded since Internet's public release way back in 1995. It's been fifteen years since then and the estimated amount of Internet users worldwide peaks up to 1.9 Billion people. Almost a third of the Earth's population. But there are very few who are armed with the knowledge on how to protect themselves from being victims of Cyber Crime.

So what does Cyber Crime mean? Cyber Crime are activities done using computers and the Internet. This includes anything from downloading illegal music files to stealing millions of dollars from online bank accounts. Cybercrime also includes non-monetary offenses, such as creating and distributing viruses on other computers or posting confidential business information on the Internet.

Here are some simple Do's and Don'ts to protect yourself from
being Cyber criminals and their devious schemes.

DON'Ts
1. Refrain from using passwords or user IDs that include personal information like your birthday or your Social Security Number.

2. Avoid using your mother maiden name as a security question. Pick something out of the ordinary like your pet's name and still not use it. For example, the real name of your pet is Bones, in the secret question field, use Vertebra instead. So in the even that even though they know the name of your pet and the what the secret question is, they still won't be able to find out what the answer to the secret question is.

3. Never leave your passwords in plain view. For example, in your monitor.

4. Refrain from using the same password and better, the same user ID for different sites. Because if they found out what your Facebook account password is, then they can log in to your different accounts like Yahoo! or Gmail and really mess things up.

DO's
1. According to the Pros, you should create passwords that are least 8 to 16 characters long. This includes a combination of small and capital letters. numbers and symbols. A good example would be: mYpas$wor(!958 According to the experts, these types of passwords are much much harder to crack.

2. Try using random pattern codes to create passwords. A neat example is to pick several computer keys, say two of them. For example, keys 4 and 7. Type straight down the keyboard from 4 until you reach the bottom, which is the letter V. Then type one character to the left. Next, do the same for 7, this time using uppercase letters. . You now have a random and meaningless password that reads 4rfvc7UMJN, but all you have to remember is 4 and 7. Or use the first letter of each word in a line from favorite song or poem.

3. Change passwords often about once a month.

4. If ever you encounter an unknown link, before you click it, just hover your mouse pointer on the link and look at the bottom of your browser. This will show you where the link is actually pointing to. Try to note of the wording before the last period of a URL(just to the left of .com, .org, .net etc.). This is important, for example, paypal.com is legit while paypal.321.com is fake.

5. Be careful with links that have the '@' symbol. Browsers tend to ignore everything left of it, so paypal@1234.com is not a PayPal site.

6. Watch for obviously misspelled sites like paypol.com or hsbvbank.com. This are usually fake phising sites intented to make you click.

Be smart. Stay safe. Follow this simple steps, and you can be quite safe from those petty hackers around their lurking and waiting for a an easy prey.

How to - make easing photo gallery with HTML and Java Script

As I was about to submit my website as a school requirement, i thought, my photo gallery looks lame. So, the next few minutes, I searched through the net on how to create a very easy "easing photo gallery" just like the one here that looks like this:

I just figured that it would be fitting to share this since I acquired this knowledge for free, so shall I share it to you. Now let's get to it.

On this exercise, we will use your basic HTML coding knowledge plus a

free downloadable javascript resource. Download the javascript's zip file here.

1. It's actually quite simple. All you need to do is make a simple gallery list in pure HTML like these:

The iPhone 4: Is now in the Philippines!!!

Last year, I was looking for a new phone, preferably a smart touch phone with wi-fi, hi-res camera, HD video, good battery life and has a good online support just in case I encountered problems. I heard of an iPhone 4 upcoming launch here in the Philippines. But I could no longer wait. So I bought a regular smart touch phone. Oh, regrets.

Yes, I know, it's such a shame that I couldn't wait right? So what did I miss with the iPhone 4? Here they are:

The Glass. Oh yes, the all so important glass which encases the Apple's breakthrough technology. They have confidently announced that they used the same type of glass which helicopters and high-speed trains use for their windshield. And with today's environmental trend, the glass is also recyclable. Way to go Apple!

They've also boasted that iPhone 4's LCD display has the highest resolution for a phone screen yet. It's so crisp that the naked human eye won't be able to distinguish individual pixels. Fortunately I have 20-20 vision, so, I just checked as hard as I could if I could distinguish my smart touch phone's individual pixels, and, fortunately, I was able to see the tiny little pixels. Letting me know that what iPhone 4's LCD screen presents is astounding.

Next, the Stainless Steel Band they have claimed to have been created from their own alloy (yes, and unbelievably, Apple makes their own alloys!). This is the secret to the phone's impressive structural rigidity while keeping in mind how thin the iPhone 4 is. And yes, there's more, it also functions as the phone's antennas.

The Brain. The iPhone 4 has an astounding A4 chip designed by Apple engineers themselves. Even with it's power, it's still energy efficient. It helps with the phones ability to perform multi-tasking, video editing and placing FaceTime calls. Talk about two birds with one stone! Wait, thats more than two birds!

And let's not forget how good iPhones are with games. And guess what, they made it even better! The iPhone 4 includes a built-in three-axis gyroscope. In short, it detects forward, sideward and upward motion as well as detect your acceleration! Now, how cool is that!

Two mics are better than one. Did you know that most phones have only one microphone? And you've guessed it! The iPhone 4 has two! The main mic which is for phone calls, voice commands and memos. The second mic on the other hand is built in the top, near the headphone jack. The purpose behind having a double microphone system is it helps surpress unwanted and
distracting bacground sounds, making every conversation a clear one.

The dynamic multi-touch. Most of the touch phones out there have what we call a "mono-touch". Which means that the phone has no software to comprehend or utilize multi touches at the same time on different locations. On the other hand, iPhone 4's multi-touch display is a very innovative software which allows you to control everything from pinch to zooms to two-finger taps.

Although only Globe has exclusive rights in the Philippines, so what? What I've seen here makes me quite envious. Wait, scratch that, not "quite" envious but VERY envious to anyone who have bought this beauty. And to mention that there are already a number of lucky users who have already availed of their very own iPhone 4!

How to - add Subscription box for Blogspot and WordPress with FeedBurner

Why is it important for a blogsite to have a subscription? A site subscription's main purpose is to keep it's readers posted. Giving your readers the option to be notified without going to your site is a good plus.

This time, I'll be providing you the steps on how to add this wonderful addition to your site for both Blogger sites and WordPress sites.

Here's how:
1. Go to http://feedburner.google.com. Register for an account if you don't have one yet.

2. On the welcome page, you'll notice a Burn a feed right this instant section. Enter your site's feed link. Usually, it would look like this: http://yoursite.com/feeds or for blogspot sites, it would look like
this: http://yoursite.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default.

After entering your site's feed URL, hit on the "Next" button.

3. On the next loaded page, you can modify the Feed Title and the Feed address. The feed title is the label of your specific feed URL. On the other hand the feeds address' URL prefix is fixed, although you could still modify the suffix to your liking.

Once any changes are made, click on the "Next" button.

4. The next page will notify you if the creation of the feed was successful. If it was, you will be shown your feed URL. Click on the "Next" button at the lower left corner of the page.

5. Next, go to your FeedBurner "My Feeds" link. Think of this as your Blogger "Dashboard". Here, you can find all the feeds that you manage. Now, click on the feeds you've just made.

6. Once the next page has loaded, click on the "Publicize" tab, then click on the "Email Subscriptions" link.

7. IMPORTANT: DO NOT forget to click on the "Activate" button located on the lower portion of the same page.

Once the service has been activated, copy the HTML provided for the Subscription box widget by FeedBurner.

Here's the part where the processes will get a little different. Following the provided steps above, we can now proceed to our respective blogging platforms to insert the code.

For Blogger sites, use these steps:
1. Log in to your Blogger account. Head to the Design >> Page Elements.

2. Next, in any area you like, click on the "Add a Gadget"

3. On the Gadget list, click on the "HTML/Javascript" Gadget.

4. On the pop-up page for the gadget, paste the code provided by FeedBurner.

You can either enter a title for your gadget. The title of the gadget/widget will appear in your blog site. The content is where you'll paste the provided code by FeedBurner. Once done, Click on hte "Save" button at the lower right portion of the page. Done!

For WordPress enabled sites, use these steps:
1. Login to your wp-admin page.

2. Go to your Dashboard's Appearance >> Widgets page located on the lower left of your dashboard.

3. From the available Widget lists, drag the "Text" widget to your sidebar.

4. Once positioned correctly, the text widget will expand:

On the title, type in the name of your box to "Subscribe here!" or something like that. On the larger text area, paste the code provided by FeedBurner. Once done, click on the "Save" button at the lower right part of the page. Done!

Being a real friend

Everybody, if not almost all of us want friends right? So, what's the usual criteria? Usually, we look for friends who have the same interest, who respect who we are and who will not force their ideas on us. Someone to share a latte with. Someone to go to the arcades. That's generally speaking.

If we head to the specifics, this little blog post will start to look like a novel. I went on my old trusty buddy, Google and typed in, criteria of a friend. Funny and awkward at the same time right? Me Google on a criteria of a basic part of life? Funny indeed, but there is yet a plain explanation for this. We want to
find out what people usually think.

Basically, human beings look for companions who will make them feel at easy, happy and laugh. We want to be accepted in a tiny circle or maybe a huge circle of friends. Often times, we fail to see how selfish we are. Sometimes we only think of being with a friend because it would benefit us, me, you, I.
We forget that the world does not revolve around us. There is a saying,

"If we smile, the whole world smiles with us. If we cry, we're on our own."

But that's why we have friends. To keep us happy when we're happy and to keep us strong when we're down. Yes, that's one basic point. But have we realized that it should not be so important how happy our friends make us? Are we so engorged in our self made ideas that the world around us should keep us happy? Have we forgotten lessons in life like,

"You life is not measured on how long you lived, it's measured on how many people have you made happy and made a difference in their life."

Yes, our friends were there when we were down, but were we there when they needed us? When they were at a loss and in agony, when pain was for them to bear, where were we? Were we just "too busy" with our happy live that we have forgotten about them? Or do we just remember them when we need them?

Most of the sites mention what an ideal friend is. Instead of thinking, "a friend should be like this, a friend should be like that...", Shouldn't we thinking on how we should be as a friend? Shouldn't we be thinking on how we could help improve the lives of our friends and not lead them to ruin?

Must-have, Top 5 WordPress plugins

If you're new to blogging and have used WordPress as your primary blogging platform, good for you. If you moved from one blogging platform to WordPress, a better choice indeed. So, what's next? Submit posts and let it be? A friend of mine asked me what are the "more-widely" used plugins for WordPress.

Here's my top list:

1. All-in One SEO Pack
This plugin speaks for itself. It is primarily used for the your blog posts. It can be usually seen at the bottom of your Post edit page.

Title

Make sure that when you input your blog post's title, you shouldn't exceed 60 characters. Why? Because most of the search engines use this maximum number of characters as title to searches.

Description

You can enter a short description of your article here. Acts more relatively like the WP post excerpt. Again, try not to exceed a character number of 160.

Keywords
They are your tags, categories for your blog article. Keywords are what search engines usually sniff out. On that note, you can unleash an unlimited amount of keywords. But make sure the keywords you use are relevant to
your blog spot and blog niche, otherwise, search engines might ignore your site articles.

2. WP Super Cache
This plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog. After a html file is generated, your webserver will serve that file instead of processing the comparatively heavier and more expensive WordPress PHP scripts. In short, it allows your users who has visited our site previously to have a faster page load experience.

3. Akismet
It's anti-spam plugin. Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not and lets you review the spam it catches under your blog's "Comments" admin screen.

Of course, you can still opt to approve them or not. In your wp-admin's spam section

On your comments' spam page, you can hover your mouse pointer in the comment which is considered as spam and either choose to "Quick Edit", "Edit", "Not Spam" or "Delete it Permanently".
If you think that the comment can be considered as not spam, just click on the "Not Spam" link. When you do this, the comment will be sent to the "Pending" comments awaiting for approval.

4. CommentLuv
This plugin will visit the site of the comment author while they type their comment and retrieve a selection of their last blog posts, tweets or digg submissions which they can choose one from to include at the bottom of their comment when they click submit.
It allows your readers to leave their site url and their latest blog posts. It's a way of rewarding your readers who comment and motivate them to keep coming back since they can live a link of their site in your blog. Remember, blogging is also a give and take relationship.

When a user comments to your post, they can see a CommentLuv icon check box. When a user checks on the check box, CommentLuv will search for the site URL they have entered in the comment and post the title of their site's latest blog post to their comment. Just as how it does below:

5. Share Bar
Tired of manually making floating widgets for your social media(i.e., Twitter, Facebook, Digg, etc) buttons? Then, Share Bar is the answer for you! It's an all in one plugin and is also full customizable! ShareBar is a floating social media sharing bar to allow your users to easily spread the word for your site.

We've previously discussed individual topics on Search engine optimizations and Social Media Marketing. But, have we seen the latent potential
when we combine them?

The recent years has provided a boom in the social voting and networking sites. This not only includes Friendster, Facebook, and Twitter but as well as del.icio.us, Digg, Stumbleupon and Reddit. But hold your horses! These marketing strategies have the pros and cons as well.

Do note that if a social media campaign does not end up with a lot of external links which help with search engine rankings, the end result can be criticism. How to - add media in WordPress

As I was checking for comments from my blogs, I noticed a request on how to upload media in WordPress.If you don't know it yet, yes, you can upload media, either be images, documents, video or music.

WordPress allows a number of formats per
media category.

Images

.mov (QuickTime)
.wmv (Windows Media Video)

As much as I could remember, you would need to upgrade for some of the file types mentioned above.
Here's how you can upload any type of media files:

1. Login to your WordPress account and head to your Media pane, hit on the \/ to drop-down the selection>> Add New.

2. The main page will show on option where you could upload files. Click on the "Select Files" to allow you to browse the file you want to upload from your Local hard drive. Remember the maximum size of uploading media files is 65 mb.

3. Select the files you need to upload.

4. During the upload process, if you ever change your mind, you can still click on the "Cance Upload" button to do just that, cancel the upload.

5. Once the file has been uploaded, you are given the option to add details to your uploaded media file.

Title

Is the "name" of the image you've just uploaded.

Alternate text

This is an important matter which is a lot of website owners and bloggers ignore. Alternate text provides a textual alternative to non-text content in web pages. Alternate text serves several functions:

It is read by screen readers in place of images allowing the content and function of the image to be accessible to those with visual or certain cognitive disabilities.
It is displayed in place of the image when browsers don't support the display of images or when the user has chosen not to view images.
It provides a semantic meaning and description to images which can be read by search engines or be used to later determine the content of the image from page context alone.

File URL
Is the URL of your file's location. You can use this as a reference for other posts you make. It's like you have your own picassa or imageshack.

Once you're done in inputting the necessary details, just click on the "Update Media" button. And don't worry, if ever you forgot to make these changes, you can just head to your Media library, select the media, and click on "Edit".

And you're done! You can now use the upload media files for future use in your blogs and articles. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to post a comment.

How to - Speed Up your WordPress

As a new blogger, it's important to realize that not only Content and Design is important. There's a small thing some call Page Load time. Speaks for itself right?

Page Load time is the time it takes for users to fully load your site. No matter how good your content is or how beautifully designed your site is, it's equally important that users can see your site quickly. Some studies say that users who wait for atleast 5 seconds for a page to load is a huge turnoff. Even though they might visit your site, they might do so next time.

Allow me to share you a compiled number of tips on how to speed up your WordPress site.
Note: As what we have learned in our previous How-to articles, it's important that we make back ups of everything we are about to make changes with.

1. Cache-ing
What is Caching? Web caching specifically, simply put, is a process of saving web documents to save
bandwidth usage, server load and what most believe, reduce lag.
There are plugins searchable in Wordpress that help you with this type of concern. A few of them are WP Super Cache and W3 Total Cache.

You can add any of the plugins by Logging in to your WP-admin dashboard. And on the navigation pane, click on the Plugins. Then Add New.

2. Plugin Diet
Although I have advised you to add a plugin, remember that you should if not must, remove the inactive plugins and remove all together the plugins that you don't actually use. Another tip would be to always run on a stable WP template. Do the same thing for your plugins.
Some of the plugins have bugs and what not. So, upgrading them to fix those bugs is a necessity.

3. Choose the Proper Theme
It may take a lot of effort to actually find a theme that is not only suitable for your site's niche, but as well as stylish but not too extravagant. In my experience, it true that investing time in looking for the right theme for your site will actually be worth it. Remember, not to flashy, but functional.
Try avoiding themes which have tons of images with them. These feature a noticeable amount in your site bandwidth.

4. Keep it Close
When your using a self-hosted/paid-hosted WordPress site, try to make it a habit to place your media(images, videos, etc) nearest as you could be. Maximize WordPress's Media center.

5. Compress images before uploading them
It's true that you should include images to your posts. But try using image size that you only need.
Here's a quick tip, if the image has a 2-6 color difference, try using the file types .GIF and .PNG. If you're posting a photograph use the .JPG image extension. You can also use Photoshop or Corel Draw to help you with the modifications for your images.

Yes, I know, WordPress is already fast, but being a bit more faster wouldn't hurt right?

Need to know your Blog's rating?

The last confirmed Google PR update was last April 2, 2010. And recently, Alexa also had problems with their site rankings, but thankfully that was fixed within a 10-day time. So, when is the next Google PR update happening? There were rumors that it happened last June, but what actually happened was minor cache glitch where some sites that had PR# went to PR0 and then later on came back to the original Google PR.

As I was surfing other blogs and sites, there were rumors that the next Google PR will be this mid-September. Again, these are only rumors. But, I, and probably all of us hope that it really will update on that said date.

Several weeks ago, when the Alexa rankings went crashing down, I tried to search for a site that gives an pretty accurate summary on your
site's info. I was only looking for a site where it could provide me with my site's current Alexa ranking. What I found out was a double whammy. The site not only provides your site's Alexa rank but also your Google PR, Blog grade, site translation, twitter grade and many more.

And your probably shouting, "So, what on earth is that site?!"

It's WebsiteGrader. It's an online tool provided by Hubspot. It was just an accidental find, but it was all worth it. You don't need to register. All you need to do is type in your site's link URL and hit the magic button.

Here's how it works:

1. Go to websitegrader.com.

2. No need to register, just fill out the forms. Put your URL on the "Website URL" box. You can optionally add another site to compare your site's stats with on the "Competing Websites" box. There's another option as well if you would like to receive the report in your email in the "Your E-mail" box.

3. Once done in filling up the forms, click on the "Generate Report" button.

4. After clicking on the button, a pop-up loader should appear. Loading time should take a minute or so, depending on your internet connection.

5. Once done, it will display the report for the site queries you have included. It will display information from overall site ranking, blog ranking, site optimization, moz rank, site promotion, conversion and site analyzation.

6. On the bottom part of the page, you'll be able to find a report summary containing information with regard to your site's website grade, Moz Rank, Google Indexed Pages, Traffic Rank, Blog Grade, Inbound links, and delicious bookmarks.

Website Grade
This is the ranking of your site over the number of sites evaluated by websitegrader. The grade depends on different variables such as approximate traffic and site performance.

Moz Rank
This is your site's global link authority or popularity. And is very similar in purpose to the measures of link importance used by the search engines like Google's PR.

Google Indexed Pages
These are the number of pages in your sites which was already indexed in Google cache. Basically, the more indexed pages you have in Google, the better.

Traffic Rank
This defines your current Alexa ranking. Find out more about Alexa ranking in my previous blog post.

Blog Grade
Your site's Blog Grade is based on a measurement of the traffic levels to your blog and the number and quality of links pointing at it.

Inbound Links
This is one of the most important aspects that your site must contain. Inbound link are links referring to your site from other sites. The more inbound links you have, the better. This also means that your site is trustworthy and has good and unique content.

Del.icio.us Bookmarks
As most of us already know, it's a social bookmarking site. The more users bookmark you with the delicious, the more traffic it attracts.

7. On the bottom of the page, you have the option to continue and try a free and live optimization of your site. Just click the "Submit your site" button at the bottom right after the results summary report.

8. If you click the "Submit your Site" button, you will be led to this next page: There are a number if options you can choose on how to develop your site.

9. If you choose to proceed with the thirds step, which is again simply filling up a form. It's for an online reservation for a site optimization voice meet-up.

How to - Install Statcounter to Blogger

Ever wondered if you had an accurate count of blog visitors? I have. And I found a great free way how to add a counter to your site. It has various report options in viewing:

Popular Pages
Entry Pages
Keyword Analysis
Downloads
And many more...

This tool is also installable in either blogspot blogs, wordpress, or a website. For now, we'll be discussion how to add it to your blogger blog.

If your using Wordpress, you can find a tutorial for WordPress here.

1. Go to StatCounter.com. And register for an account.

2. Once done in the registration and verification process, login to your StatCounter account. When you login, remember to tick on the "Remember me" checkbox. This way, every time you
go to the site, you will be automatically logged in. All you need to do then is to go directly to your "Projects Link".

3. Once logged in, go to your "Add New Project" link.

4. The next page will provide you with a form to fill up with.

Website Title
This will be the name of your site project. For example, in my case, I have several blogs that I maintain, so, the first Website Title/Project name is digiknowzone for my digiknowzone.blogspot.com site while another project, digiknowzone.com is for my digiknowzone.com site.

Website URL
This speaks for itself. This were you enter your complete site URL.

Category
Choose a category for your site.

Timezone
Your current timezone is reflected with the timezone you've set for your profile when your registering.

Log Size
Since this is a free service, it only allows 500 log files. But still pretty good for a free site.

IP Blocking
You can opt to select a specific IP address or a range of IP addresses. Usually, you use this to block your own IP address so that it won't count the number of times you visit your own site. To get your IP address, just go to this link.

Public Stats
You can allow the general public to access your reports by ticking on the "Allow anyone to view your stats" checkbox.

Once done in filling up the form, just click on the "Next" button.

5. On the next page, click on the "Configure and Install Code" button.

6. Choose an option as to how you want the code to be configured. I would greatly suggest you use the Invisible counter. But it's up to you.

7. On the next page, select "Blogger/Blogspot" as your install guide. And don't tick on the other two checkboxes. Then click on the "Next" button.

8. StatCounter will provide you a set of codes. Copy these codes and proceed to the next steps.

9. Login to your Blogger account. And head to your Design > Page Elements tabs.

10. On the your Page Elements, Click on any of the "Add a Gadget".

11. A pop-up window will ask you to choose from a variety of gadgets. Choose the "HTML/JavaScript" widget.

12. Another pop-up window will appear. Don't enter a title name. Just paste the code that was provided by StatCounter. And hit on the "Save" button.

13. Once it's saved, click on the "Save" button again. Just to make sure.

14. Next, go back to your StatCounter account. On your project list, click on the project name you've just made.

15. Once clicked, you will see your site stats. You can view it on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis. Of course, there will be zero (0) stats for all of the given field since this it was just added.

Your Blog, Metas and SEO

I knew new bloggers out there, just like me who first ignored the META tags and descriptions of their blogs. Many of them ask, does it matter? The answer is yes, it does matter, a lot, especially in SEO.

Generally speaking, they are called meta elements. So what are meta elements? Meta elements provide a description for a given site, although these information cannot be seen directly by the site visitors. These meta elements determine your site or your blog's searchability.

Why would I like search engines to find my site? Simple. You probably want a site so that you'll have it found right? Think of search engines as an easy
way to gain visitors.

If you have a site, and you want it to become popular, what you do is refer it to other potential users, usually, first with friends, then with friends of friends and so on. What meta elements do is provide search engines with descriptions to what your site is.

For example, if your site is a car reviews site, what you add into your site's meta description would be "car review, know your car, buy car" or something alike. When a user enters a search in the net and types in "car review for buying", there's a pretty slim chance that your site will appear on the first page. Why? Because first, your site might be new and search engines have not included your site yet in their sites list. Second, you might have put in the wrong description for your site. Third, even though your site is old, you might not have enough visitors or update your site rarely that search engines think that your site is dead or ignored.

So, why would a user search for "car review for buying"? Why doesn't just the user type my site directly and go to it? Answer: The user doesn't know that your site exists at all. That's why he heads to search engines to look for that site that will help him in reviewing cars that eh might buy.

If you noticed, what search engines usually post in the first page of their search results are:

1. Most Relevant
Ofcourse, you won't be able to find chickenwings.com when your search words are "science project suggestions".

2. Latest
Search engines are fond of sites that are up to date. Meaning that the last post was not posted 5 years ago. Search engine spiders crawl for the latest and most relevant resource.

3. Most Viewed
If the one only visiting your site is your self, this surely will not help in your site's search engine health. Explanation behind this is that Google or Yahoo wouldn't suggest site or links that are not viewed at all or have very little audience.

The stuff that were mentioned above are one of the top reasons that a search engine looks for. There are other stuff that search engines use as a criteria so that your site will pop in their results page. So, what's important is that you set your right meta elements. This will free you the hassle of looking for readers manually.

What if you could stop time?

I saw a movie where he was imagining what he would do if he could stop time. He was thinking that if he could stop time, he could draw the things around him usually ignored in great detail and appreciate it more.

What if you could stop time? What would you do? Here's something much better, what if you could stop time and roam around and adjust stuff? And with the snap of a finger, or with the crunch of your knuckles, we can restore the flow of time.

I know what your thinking, "why on earth would we just settle our selves on stopping time? Why don't we go back through time and change it?" We'll get to that in just a few
paragraphs.

If you could spend more time with a loved one during a wonderful sunset, it's a very nice thought if you could only stop time, you could appreciate the magical moment more, feel it more and engrave it to your memories.

Some would say, "I'll stop people from dying, I'll stop people from being hurt". This are all nice words, but they simply couldn't happen.
Here's the reality: We can't stop time, what we can do is savor the moment. There's no saving account or a credit card for time. Once it has passed, you can never go back to that moment.

Here's where time travel kicks in. This was a great dream for me, If I were able to go back to time, I could make the world much better, but later on, something really complicated struck me: 1: I can't time travel, 2: Even if I can, I should keep myself hidden from the eyes of the people, because going back to time and making alteration with have great reprimands. It's like a humongous domino effect on steroids.

I small change in history could make an insane change to the present and the future. I was thinking that I could go back to the past, I will persuade Pythagoras to take on his other fields instead of studying math! But then, someone told me that if Math did not exist, I probably would have not been bored due to tons of tiny information that would make things worse.

Since we can't physically travel through time or make time stop, A very simple yet equally important aspect that we should see and understand is on how to savor the moment as we have it, as some people say, "we should live in the moment".

Hostaging - Is this your escape?

Early this morning, at about several minutes after 7am(+8:00 GMT), a Chinese tourist bus has been hijacked and was hostaged in Manila, Philippines. It was said that a rogue ex-Police Officer commandeered the bus. For the past few hours, local police were trying to solved the crisis.

Shot's had been fired. Bystanders were hurt. Rumors run around that that atleast 15 of the passengers were killed, which was reported by the bus driver who was able to escape the current situation. Although, authorities say that there was no way for them to confirm the information provided by the driver since almost all of the bus' curtains were let down.

The said assailant wants to clear his name due to the charges that were filed against him in 2008, which included extortion, robbery, grave threat and physical injuries. These charges resulted to the forfeiting of his retirement benefits as well as disqualification from government service.

Just several minutes ago, it has been confirmed that the assailant, Capt. Mendoza, has been killed. And 2 passengers were reported to have exited with the assistance of the local SWAT. Several bodies were being brought out from the bus, some of them confirmed to be lifeless which even included a child. This disaster is a big hurdle for the new administration. It is being assumed that most of the passengers are dead.

With the sudden end to this 12-hour crisis, the next questions arises: who is Capt. Rolando Mendoza was and what his reasons were behind this horrific scene.

Even with the heavy down pour of rain and thunder did not stop the flood of reporters and bystanders to know and see how this tragic drama ended.

Is hostaging an excuse to clear someone's name? If so, what was Capt. Mendoza's purpose? If you were in his situation, would you do something of this level to clear your name? Is this the path your willing to tread?

Recently, I posted an article on how to make a blog and had various posts on how to improve your blog's traffic. As I was surfing through FamousBloggers, I found out an article that provides and in depth article for bloggers like me who are just starting.

I just read the file and it sure was eye opening and astounding, and I have not finished reading it yet! Although I can say that some of the tips provided there are already a habit of mine, tons of it were unknown to me. I found it very helpful to read on it, and did I mention it was FREE? And oh, you can download it here all it takes is just a few steps and they'll provide you with the file.

I have been blogging for almost two months now, but I still found this article, Blogger Atlas, to still provide
me with very helpful information on how to start a blog as well as start earning on my blog! The guidelines in this article was compiled from a number of resident bloggers, so this means that the things you read hear are actually proven and true so you don'y have to worry about speculating if your just wasting your time on it, because I can assure you, your not wasting time on it.
