Many people have been enjoying using WhatsApp on PC through the help of emulators like Bluestacks, GenyMotion, Windroy and others, but aint really a legal means of using this application on the PC. WhatsApp has now officially launched/announced the “WhatsApp Web”, which is a web application that can connect your mobile and your windows PC so as to be able to use WhatsApp on your PC while at work without the use of your mobile device.

To Use WhatsApp on Windows and Mac PC without Emulator

Ø Go to the Google Play Store and install the updated version of WhatsApp.

Ø Open the latest version of WhatsApp which you just installed.

Ø Press the Options button where you should see a link called “WhatsApp Web”

Ø Click on that, you should now see a QR Scanner

Ø Now go to your PC and make sure that you are connected to the internet.

Ø Open Google Chrome Browser and go to the website http://web.whatsapp.com

Ø You will see a QR code on this website.

Ø Now take your mobile phone with QR scanner of WhatsApp and scan the code.

Ø Boom, your WhatsApp profile, messages, contacts and media are on your PC.

Ø You can send messages and chat from your PC only.

Note: The mobile linked to the PC should be connected to the internet at all times while you are using the WhatsApp on your PC (Google Chrome) and ensure that you have downloaded and install the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone.

This only works on Android operating system for now. Apple users (iOS) should chill till further notice.

Alcatel Shows the Preview of How it's First Smartwatch Will Look

Last year, lots of mobile device makers jumped into the smartwatch realm, and apparently in 2015 we can expect to see more of that. Specifically, it looks like those companies that haven’t yet presented a smartwatch (or two) will do so soon. The honor of being first to do that this year goes to Alcatel.

That’s because what you can see in the image above is the Alcatel OneTouch Watch. TCL (the company behind the Alcatel brand) is obviously quite proud of it, since it decided to semi-announce it a few days before CES.

That doesn’t, however, mean that we get any details about it alongside the picture. Presumably every spec will be unveiled next week, but before then we can see that the Wave 2 comes with round touchscreen (but not perfectly round like the LG G Watch R, and more like the Moto 360). At least four strap options will be available.

Since Alcatel smartphones run Android, we assume that this watch will go with Android Wear, though that hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. The Chinese company did promise a “smart price” for the Wave 2 Watch, which is in line with our expectations, given that its other mobile wares are usually quite affordable.

American Wife to Get $530million in Britain's Biggest Divorce Payout

A judge in a London High Court ruled that the American wife of a British Tycoon be given $530m in a divorce payout. This is considered to be the biggest divorce settlement so far in British history. The estranged wife of finance tycoon Christopher Hohn will receive an equivalent of N96 billion.

The judge awarded Jamie Cooper-Hohn $493 million in cash and the rest in the form of a property in Connecticut and adjustments to her share of a pension.

A full judgment will be published in December, but the figures were cited during a court hearing yesterday November 27.

She was initially seeking half of her ex-husband's assets, but he said she was entitled to just a quarter on the grounds that his talents as an investor constituted a special contribution to their wealth. He also referred to himself as an "unbelievable money-maker.”

In awarding Ms. Cooper-Hohn less than half of the couple’s $1.3 billion fortune, the case could set a legal precedent in the U.K, which has developed a wide reputation as a capital for divorce disputes between ultra-rich couples.

Mr. Hohn and Ms. Cooper-Hohn met while studying at Harvard University, and have been married for 17 years. They have four children.

The couple have been described as UK’s most generous philanthropists and have both said they lead relatively modest lives, given their wealth.

Woman Delivers Quadruplets After 18 Years Of Barrenness

With God, all things are possible...A 44-year old woman, Clara Dominique, who has been unable to conceive for 18 years, was last Saturday delivered of quadruplets. The babies are three girls and a boy. They were delivered at the Graceland Medical Centre in Benin City, Edo State.

The Nation reports that Mrs. Clara, who got married in 1996, said it was God’s grace that kept her and her husband through the trials. She said they refused to keep friends because of the problem.

“I am happy that my husband and I were able to stay together to this day to witness the blessings of the Lord. My husband has been encouraging me that God will do it for us. My husband never contemplated driving me away.

"I was happy when the scan showed it was four. Sometimes I think of how I will carry the four of them. I have not seen somebody delivered four babies. It was not easy for me to carry the pregnancy. At a time the weight of the pregnancy was too much for me.

"I was the one dedicating children at our church every last Sunday of the month. I was the first to visit anybody that I knew that gave birth so that I can give them what I have. I am not the jealous type.

"It was my husband’s cousins that tried to take the matter up but my husband stopped them. My parents were also there to encourage us. That was what kept us together because the family pressure was not there. They knew we were Christians and nobody could penetrate my husband and me."

A doctor at the hospital, Dr. Oni Samson, said the babies were delivered by caesarean section. She said: “You don’t expect a woman that is having multiple births to do that through the vaginal. This is the first time we had quadruplets in this hospital. The children are okay. The ante-natal was uneventful. They are still under care for them to be stabilized.”

Write Boko Haram to Stop Attacks, CAN President tells Sultan of Sokoto

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has called on the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, to write a letter to members of Boko Haram to stop their attacks just as he did to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Pastor Oritsejafor made the call today at a 2-day meeting in Abuja with Senior Special Assistants on Religious Affairs to all state governors.

“His Eminence said he wrote a letter to ISIS, I have to truly congratulate you for that because that was a very good move. I didn’t know about it until today and I am so glad it happened. But I want to appeal that you also write to Boko Haram because Boko Haram is worst than ISIS.

They have killed more people than ISIS, they have caused more atrocities than ISIS; they need to be written to as well, it is very important it will help. I have made an appeal several times that there are some of our leaders who must come together, religious, political and traditional. They must come and discuss.’’ he said

Three killed, Houses Burnt in Ibadan Mayhem

At least three people were killed and 10 houses destroyed by armed youths who invaded Born Photo, Isale Osi, Idi Arere and Popoyemoja in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The youth who operated freely for about two hours before policemen arrived at the scenes, also burnt or vandalised about 200 shops, several vehicles and a tricycle.

Eyewitnesses said the thugs partly burnt a petrol station at Popoyemoja junction.

Our correspondent gathered that the mayhem started at 9am at Born Photo before it spread to Isale Osi, Idi Arere and Popoyemoja.

Residents linked the violence to last Friday’s attack in which a policeman was shot dead at a rally by the All Progressives Congress.

One of them said, “Youths hired by politicians released several shots at Born Photo junction. This is a fall-out of Friday’s violence at the APC rally. This may not be over soon because there could be reprisal. Government must intervene quickly.”

Mr. Okunola Asimiyu, whose family house on SW9/263 was burnt on Sunday, wondered why his house was a target.

He said, “I am not a politician. My father built this house many decades ago. The fight in Oke-Ado three days ago may have led to today’s (Sunday) attack on our community. I have no friends among the politicians. I was in the building when the thugs set it on fire . I tried to put off the fire but when I realised that it was spreading, I had to escape.”

About five shops in the house were vandalised.

Folake Oladipo, who operated one of the shops, said she lost over N1m.

She added, “I received a call this(Sunday) morning that my shop was burning. I rushed there but I saw people with guns shooting and burning houses. They burnt my refrigerators, generators and looted everything in the shop. I am devastated.”

Also destroyed in the building was a football viewing centre. Its operator, Adepoju Owolabi, said football fans were lucky to have escaped.

At Popoyemoja junction, a BP petrol station was vandalised and partly burnt. Policemen at the scene said calamity would have happened if the fire had reached the fuel dump.

However, the Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan South-West Council Area, Taoreed Adeleke, blamed the opposition for the attack.

Adeleke said, “Clearly, this is the work of the opposition. They want to scare people during elections and place the blame on the government of the day. We appeal that people should return to their homes. People are not ready to talk; they are scared of mentioning the perpetrators for fear of being attacked.

“I will also blame hoodlums or area boys that are bent on disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in the state for the attack. We heard that the people would come up before the election to make the state ungovernable.

“It started on Friday in Oke Ado and its spreading now. I was called early this (Sunday) morning that the problem had started again so I mobilised security men to stop them.”

However, an Accord Party chieftain, Lanre Ogundipe, said the fight was between APC members.

“APC started it among rival groups within the party on Friday. They should not point accusing fingers at any other political party,” he said.

The APC Chairman in the state, Akin Oke, in a statement after the violence, called on the police to investigate the attack thoroughly.

Like Adeleke, Oke blamed the mayhem on the opposition.

His statement read in part, “All evidences at APC disposal pointed at a high-level gang-up by some politicians currently at large to embarrass government and to destroy the three and half years of peace in the state.

“We still insist that the persons behind that violence were carrying out a high-level assignment which has to do with the 2015 elections. The violence betrays logic. Why would APC ‘thugs’, if the allegation of the opposition is to be believed, be involved in shooting the police and not their rival groups? Why did the fomenters of the violence choose the governor’s local government and the last day of his meet-the-people tour, as their target?”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Police Command, Olabisi Ilobanefor, said the police had yet to make any arrest.

He said the state Commissioner of Police, Kola Sodipo, would address the media over the spate of attacks in the state on Monday (today).

President Goodluck Jonathan has described himself as the best leader to be produced by Nigeria.

The President said no leader since the country gained independence in 1960 had done better than him for the country.

He, therefore, said the comment made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in which the ex-President described Jonathan’s performance as below average, was untrue.

Jonathan said this in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, in Abuja on Sunday.

Okupe’s statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to comments made by a former President of this country, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, regarding the performance of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Obasanjo had at an event over the weekend declared that he rated the President Goodluck Jonathan administration ‘below average’.

“We aver that Obasanjo’s comments are untrue, misleading and clearly do not tally with the facts on the ground.

“We therefore wish to assert without equivocation that in terms of performance and achievements, no administration since 1960 when Nigeria gained independence from Britain, has done as much as that of President Jonathan.”

He said that every discerning and unbiased Nigerian would definitely attest to this “as the evidence stare all of us in the face.”

Okupe, who had also worked with the former President while in office, added that contrary to Obasanjo’s position, the Federal Government under Jonathan had performed excellently given the prevailing circumstances and resources available to it.

He said while it was true that Nigeria had been faced with incidents of insurgency and terrorism, especially in the last few years, the Jonathan administration had successfully contained the initial widespread activities of the insurgents, which he said were prevalent in 12 states of the North, including the Federal Capital Territory.

He added, “While it is true that the present activities of the terrorists in the three north-eastern states have become more deadly in mindless killings, kidnappings and supposed territorial seizures, government has made giant diplomatic strides with our neighbouring countries in order to checkmate the crisscrossing of the insurgents.

“The military and other security agents, which have engaged the insurgents since inception, have done a great job in spite of recent challenges.

“The truth of the matter which we must know and accept is that we have an internal enemy supported by internal and external resources waging a major warfare against our nation.”

Boko Haram Slits Throats of Some, Tied Hands and Legs of Others before Throwing Them into the Lake

Abubakar Shekau (AFP)–Suspected Boko Haram insurgents killed 48 fish vendors after setting up a roadblock near the country’s border with Chad, the head of the fish traders association told the Agence France-Presse on Sunday.

“Scores of Boko Haram fighters blocked a route linking Nigeria with Chad near the fishing village of Doron Baga on the shores of Lake Chad on Thursday and killed a group of 48 fish traders on their way to Chad to buy fish,” AFP quoted Abubakar Gamandi, head of the fish traders association, as saying.

Gamandi said the attackers set up a barricade at Dogon Fili, 15 kilometres from Doron Baga in Borno State, and stopped a convoy of fish vendors around midday, slaughtering some of them and drowning others in the lake.

“The Boko Haram gunmen slit the throats of some of the men and tied the hands and legs of the others before throwing them into the lake to drown,” Gamandi told AFP by telephone from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

It was unclear if the motive for the gruesome attack was robbery or if there were other reasons for the killings.

Boko Haram has once in a while targeted residents seemingly indiscriminately in its deadly insurgency.

Doron Baga, 180 kilometres from Maiduguri, is the base of the Multi-National Joint Task Force, comprising troops from Nigeria, Chad and Niger fighting the Islamist group.

The MNJTF was formed in 1998 to fight trans-border crime but its mandate was expanded as part of efforts to tame the Boko Haram insurgency in the restive region.

Gamandi claimed the assailants killed all of their victims without using their guns.

“The attackers killed their victims silently without the use of the gun to avoid attracting attention from the multi-national troops,” he said.

Kaloma Zarami, a fish vendor in Maiduguri, said he learned of the killings from other traders in Doron Baga.

Zarami said, “The news came to us late yesterday (Saturday) through some of our colleagues who came from Doron Baga to inform us of the incident because there is no telephone service in the area.

“We lost 48 people in the attack. Some were slaughtered and others were thrown into Lake Chad with their hands and legs tied and left to drown.”

A military officer in Maiduguri confirmed the attack but said details were sketchy.

“We heard of the attack near Doron Baga but we don’t have any details because the area falls under the operational jurisdiction of the MNJTF,” the military officer said.

News of the attack was slow to emerge due to the destruction of mobile phone towers in the area by Boko Haram in previous attacks.

Incessant Boko Haram attacks have disrupted fishing and farming along the shores of Lake Chad. Fishermen from Doron Baga have been forced to abandon fishing and have turned to importing dried fish from neighbouring Chad.

Gamandi said the Dogon Fili route provided the safest passage for traders from Doron Baga to Chad as other routes are infested with Boko Haram gunmen who rob and kill travelers.

Apple to Switch Faulty Flash Storage type for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus

Apple’s apparently got a problem on its hands regarding its two latest smartphones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. And no, it’s not #bendgate. According to rumors out of South Korea, a type of flash storage is causing the company some headaches in two models of the new iPhones.

Only the 64GB iPhone 6 and the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus seem to be affected. These iterations use a type of flash storage called TLC (triple-level cell) NAND.

Apple has allegedly discovered a problem in the controller IC of this TLC NAND flash, which is causing crashing, bootloops, as well as slow reading and writing speeds on some batches of the aforementioned devices. Such issues have first been reported on a few days ago, and now Apple is said to have confirmed them, along with the culprit.

The faulty controller IC is made by Anobit, a company now owned by Apple. For the iPhones in question, there will now be a switch to MLC (multi-level cell) NAND, which is more expensive than TLC but doesn’t come with such problems. TLC NAND flash is a type of solid-state memory that stores three bits of data per cell. MLC stores just two, and there’s another option, which is SLC (single-level cell) NAND flash, which stores one bit per cell. MLC flash is widely used in smartphone storage as well as consumer SSD drives. If you’re wondering why Apple chose TLC flash in the first place, the reason seems to be solely tied to cost cutting.

Apple won’t issue a recall of the already affected phones, rather it plans on fixing the problem through the upcoming iOS 8.1.1 update. On the other hand, new 64GB iPhone 6 units and 128GB iPhone 6 Plus handsets will come with MLC NAND flash, the rumor says. That’s a bit odd – if the issue is fixable via software, then why switch to a more expensive flash type anyway?
