This is terrible for @SenSanders, for his movement, and for the Democratic Party that continues to trust his judgment. 1/ pic.twitter.com/fUN4GdMkPb

— Tom Watson (@tomwatson) June 23, 2017

You may have not noticed this, but there's been a lot of resentment from Hillary Clinton supporters ever since her colossal loss in November. Instead of blaming her (the candidate) and how her campaign was run, they're blaming it all on other issues. They blame Wikileaks, the now-former FBI Director, but the most continuous attacks continue to go toward the so-called 'Bernie Bros.'

While the Democratic Party is in shambles, and lacking a message that fails to click and resonate with the American people, Liberals remain bitter. This resentment is most noticeable whenever Bernie Sanders speaks out on any issue, but it especially seems to sting them whenever he calls out the weaknesses of The Party.

As I mentioned before on Twitter, as long as the Party is incapable of reflection, and Democrats continue to blame Sanders supporters for losing the 2016 election, they'll lose even more elections. Instead of attacking Bernie Sanders' supporters, Democrats need to embrace their grievances instead.

Yes, I said they need to embrace them. Hug it out. Ask them out to lunch and dinner. Go for stroll on the beach together. But they need to come together, because they need them to win elections.

Take the GOP for example, and what they've done since the late-2000s. They embraced the Tea Party Movement, and that force—for better and for worse—it's what has allowed them to enjoy having the majority of governors, the majority of state and local government positions, a majority in congress, and now the presidency.

The bottom line is, Democrats won't begin to win meaningful elections, unless they embrace Bernie Sanders and the so-called 'Bernie Bros.'

Not every battle is worth fighting; that’s not how wars are won.

Wars are won by knowing how to pick the battles that need to be fought, and winning as many of those battles as possible.

Case in point? Just look at all the headlines from this weekend. It's all mostly talk about the low-energy attendance numbers were at Trump's inauguration, Sean Spicer's ridiculous first official press conference, and Kellyann Conway's comment about "alternative facts" on Meet the Press.

All outrageous and bizarre, right? No doubt. But in the grand scheme of things, very meaningless, to say the least. Notice how little of these outrageous things that transpired over the weekend have to do with Trump himself.

If Liberals want their issues that deal with Trump heard, they need to stop screaming at the top of their lungs every time something related to Trump hits the news, especially if Trump himself isn't the one stirring the pot.

It's going to be a long four years, so it's important that we learn to fight the war, one good battle at a time.

Reflecting on President Barack Obama's Presidency

As I sit here reflecting on the last eight years, I can’t help but think where we could’ve been today if republicans weren’t so interested in making Obama a “one-term president,” and a “failed president.” Those were the words of republicans in congress four and eight years ago; that was their intent.

We could’ve been rebuilding our infrastructure, investing more on our kids’ future by spending more on education and job creation in inner cities, and helping our elderly and our veterans.

But that wasn’t part of the plan.

The plan was to undermine every single policy effort put forward by a president who campaigned on the promise of hope. The plan was that if you take away the hopes and dreams of the people who supported the president, as well as take away the possibility of anyone who might’ve not supported the president, to have the perception that the one who promised hope, he couldn’t deliver.

Republicans very cleverly pointed the finger at the president, despite they being the ones fighting arduously on austerity measures that without a doubt would hurt Americans all across the board. They wanted to anger the masses, so that people would never support anything Obama promised, regardless of whether their anger was rightfully in the right place.

I don't blame Obama for the nation's infrastructure crumbling, nor do I blame him for the millions of people who are still out of a job and dependent on government assistance to survive. I blame republicans for that, as it is them who wanted to hurt them in order to pursue their agenda of making Obama a failed president.

But I sit here reflecting on how much worse things could’ve been, and about how much progress we’ve all achieved as a nation. I’m grateful for the efforts and sacrifices made by Obama and his administration.

Thanks, Obama.

Obamacare - Why Do You Like it? Why Do You Hate It?

Obamacare: some people like it, some people hate it. Some don't even know what it is, or that it's actually called the Affordable Care Act.

I want know know what it is about it that you, not other people, hate about it. And if you like it, what about the law makes you like it. At the same time, if you don't know how you feel about it, or don't know what it is, I want to know that, too.
Words cannot describe the profound impact this event had in our minds and hearts. In the midst of the adversity, we've cried and mourned together; we also came together and united as one. We became Orlando Strong.

But it's been a month since the shooting, and even though some of our political leaders attempted to bring something to the table last month in Congress, the legislation fell through, and in predictable fashion, nothing has been done to this day to address this issue. I don't expect for change to come overnight, but if an opportunity came for us to try to make a difference, and prevent the next mass shooting, then by all means, we should seize the opportunity.

I was criticized for wanting to talk about the issue of guns in this country, and was told at the time that it wasn't the right time to politize the shooting.

So it's been a month, and the rest of the country and the media seems to have found other things to talk about. The mainstream media is back to talking about white police officers shooting black men, and Trump, all-the-while people are walking around like zombies playing Pokemon GO.

But I haven't forgotten about Pulse, or Sandy Hook, or Charlestown, or San Bernardino. So when should we begin to politize a tragedy like the one that happened in Orlando one month ago? Should we wait 24 hours to start politicizing it? Perhaps another week? Or maybe another month or two? How about another year? Or perhaps never?

But, what about those who died in the previous mass shooting? We never seem to find the time to start politicizing it for them.

What about the victims who died in the mass shooting before the previous one? Shouldn't have we politicized it for them, too?

What about the children of Sandy Hook?

There just never seems to be a right time to start politicizing these events.

Why?

When is the right time?

I want to be clear about something… if I ever am the victim of gun violence, let it be known to all of my friends, family, and loved ones, that it's okay to politicize my death as soon as they find out I'm dead. Please don't wait until I am even buried to start politicizing it. Use my name, use my memory, make me a meme, or whatever it takes, to start politicizing my death the moment you find out I died. Because we never seem to find the right time to start politicizing this topic.

I Loved It!

Unless you've been living under a rock the last few years, chances are you've heard of the popular ride-sharing service called Uber.

If you're not familiar with their service, Uber essentially works similar to a cab service, but without the formality you'd expect from the traditional taxi service; it allows someone who needs a ride somewhere to hire a driver straight from the Uber app, and upon arrival, take you to your destination.

View image | gettyimages.com

I recently used Uber for the first time, and can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised by how it all works. The service is affordable and flexible enough that it allows people to use the service to meet their various needs.

One of my coworkers recently moved to Orlando, so she uses it to commute to and from work everyday. Another coworker goes out regularly to enjoy the nightlife, so she uses it to get home safely after a night out.

The service is pretty straightforward. You download the app on your smartphone, create a profile, and within minutes you can have someone pick you up and take you places.

View image | gettyimages.com

One of the notable differences Uber in contrast to a traditional taxi service is that Uber cars can pretty much be any 2000 car or newer, so don't expect the car to be branded like a normal taxi car would be.

Uber has different levels to meet different customers' needs:

UberX: The least expensive Uber service. Seats 4 riders. Drivers use everyday cars that are 2000 or newer.

UberXL: Seats at least 6 passengers. An UberXL car will be an SUV or a Minivan. Higher fare price than UberX.

UberPlus/UberSelect: A luxury sedan that seats up to 4 riders. Expect a BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi, etc., with a leather interior.

UberPOOL: Share your ride with another person and split the cost. Only available in LA, SF, NYC, and Paris.

UberBLACK (Black Car): Uber’s ‘executive’ luxury service. Commercially registered and insured livery vehicles, typically a black SUV or luxury sedan. Highest fare price.

Want to try out Uber for the first time? Use my invite code, uberdavidstella, and get a free ride up to $20. Redeem it at https://www.uber.com/invite/uberdavidstella.

We typically tend to see work as a thing we do only to make money.

View image | gettyimages.com

But what if more of us saw work as a thing we do, not only to make money, but also as something we do to promote personal growth in learning, creativity, productivity, and enhancing the standard of living within our communities? We would be doing some amazing things.

There's plenty of meaningful work to be done.

We need to fix our planet–climate change is still a concerning issue. We need to fix our communities with better infrastructure. We need more good doctors and nurses, and teachers. We need a generation of engineers, inventors, thinkers, and achievers. We also need leaders in our communities that can help lead the way toward achieving all of our goals of today and the future.

We owe it to ourselves. We owe it to our children.
Dan Price, the CEO who gave every employee in his company raises, is now going through trying times because of unforeseen circumstances that came after the announcement. The story Fox News cites was originally posted on the New York Times: A Company Copes With Backlash Against the Raise That Roared.

It's disheartening to see someone who had the best intentions go through this. He gave up so much with the hopes to help so many of his hard-working employees. If I remember correctly, he even gave raises to those executives that quit on him. Surely, he also didn't foresee some of his customers canceling out of their contracts, and weeks later being sued by his own brother. This is a very unfortunate story all around. If anything it shows how low people are willing to go because of their own selfishness and greed.

After the Charleston shooting, Bobby Jindle called Obama's call for action on gun control "completely shameful." And now that his own constituents have been victims of a shooting, it is still "not a good time" to discuss how to prevent these shootings from happening.

We need to ask our leaders: "when is a good time to discuss gun violence in this country?"

View image | gettyimages.com

For Bobby Jindle—and people who defend the gun lobby—there never seems to be a good time to discuss and debate the issue of gun violence in America. The reality of it all is that it is about time we started discussing solutions to the problem of mass shootings and gun violence. Sandy Hook should have been a turning point for our local, state, and federal government officials to debate serious reforms on the way we approach the gun culture in this country, but it wasn't.

In retrospect Sandy Hook marked the end of the US gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.

— Dan Hodges (@DPJHodges) June 19, 2015

Mass shootings are far too common in America.

Unfortunately, counting the Chattanooga shooting, we had two mass shootings in one week.

There has been 75 mass shootings since Sandy Hook. How many more will there be before we do something about it?

Are we too late to do something about it?

I don't think so. At least, I'd like to think that not all hope is lost for us to start making a difference today, so that our children can live in a better future tomorrow. It will take you, me, and a lot of people to be very loud about it. It's not going to be a one-off approach to this problem, but we need to do it. We owe it to ourselves and our children, but above all, to all the victims of mass shootings.

View image | gettyimages.com

We cannot prevent every shooting from happening, but we shouldn't let these shootings continue to be so common. We can find ways to prevent them from being a common occurrence. Doing nothing about this issue should no longer be an option.

I don't have all the answers of what we can do with this issue, but the least we could do is start a conversation about it. Tell me, what can we do to prevent them?
While I’m not condoning the actions of the people who are rioting in Baltimore, it is not impossible for me to understand why they are.

I’ve expressed my concerns in the past how rioting and looting does a disservice to all, not just those of a certain race or ethnic background.

I’ve cited an old documentary called February One: The Story of the Greensboro Four as a good example of what a proper protest should be like. But, the fact of the matter is that we don’t live in a perfect world with perfect outcomes all of the time. All of these riots in Baltimore could have been avoided.

Even Ferguson could have also been avoided. However, they will continue to happen over and over again because Ferguson and Baltimore are not exceptions to the rule.

In fact, a great number of American cities face similar challenges; the same challenges being faced in Ferguson and Baltimore.

So we can choose to pretend it doesn’t happen, or pretend we don’t care because it’s not happening in our backyard, or engage in vitriol on social media with friends and strangers alike. Or we can address the underlying issues that are exacerbating things like these in places across the country.

With all that being said, what we need is to take a hard look at ourselves, and have a proper discourse of what the underlying issues are that are causing things like these from happening in Ferguson, New York, Baltimore, and other places throughout the country. It won't be an easy topic to discuss, but it is one that we really need to have.

The conversation should not only be about race. It should also include talks about social-economic issues, issues with education, crime, the police, with our elected officials, etc. Everything should be on the table. Everything needs to be discussed.

It won't be easy to discuss it, but if we don't, we're just going to continue seeing the same results over, and over, and over, and over, and again. It will never stop until people actually start treating the illness that's infecting society, as opposed to treating its symptoms.

Somehow the original was deleted, but thanks to Google's cache system I was able to recover the post. It has been slightly edited from the original to fix some grammatical errors, I also added a picture, but otherwise it is the essentially the same post.

Orlando, FL -- November 6, 2012

Paul Ryan's state, Wisconsin, went for Obama. Michigan and Massachusetts both states where Romney came from, went for Obama. What does that tell you about those two guys? Candidates are supposed to be representative of all Americans, not just evangelical Americans, or rich Americans. What I noticed at the Michelle Obama rally event that I went to yesterday is that there were Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Christians, Jewish, Muslims, soldiers, FedEx workers, business people, etc. That's the real America today.

What's going to happen with the Republican Party now? They can't continue moving forward with their current vision. They do well in rural areas, but do very poorly in metro areas--where the majority of the people live.

The economy, perhaps the biggest issue in this election, could have been better by now if Republicans had worked with Obama and Democrats rather than against them. Instead, Republicans spent the last four years trying to throw everything they can think of at Obama, calling him "a socialist born in Kenya who won't rest until he destroys the country," among other things, of course--in order to make him a one-term President. That was a big fail, and they need a new strategy. One that involves working with the other side, again.

As optimistic as I would like to be about Republicans, realistically, I don't think they're done with attacking Obama.

I think in the next four years Republicans are going to try to get Obama impeached instead of working on improving conditions for the many Americans who are hurting right now.

Don't like that proposition? Then have your congressman/woman’s number handy and tell them it's time to put partisanship agendas aside and worry for what's best for the American people. Let me know if you need their number; I'll gladly help you find it.

Let's work together to have politicians be "for the people" again and move this country forward.
When you consider he never has mentioned how much obstructionism has gone on in Washington since he became president, by an entire party who took pledges to make him a failed president regardless of what policies he would adopt, and regardless of how many Americans would suffer from that type of political approach.

When you consider everything he has done without the help of "the other side", then you have to respect his record in office. He doesn't have a record of "failed policies" as many on conservative radio and Fox News will lead you to believe.

Imagine for a second that Romney wins in November, and the day after he takes office, every single Democrat in Congress takes a pledge to fail Romney, and for four years any possible progress is stagnated by that pledge. Isn't that in a way un-American? It's at the very least against what American voters sent them to Washington to do.

I've told people before, if you don't like the state of the economy today and you're mad at Obama, then your anger appears to me to be misplaced.

Can Romney Save Sensata Jobs From Being Shipped to China?

Imagine that you work at a company which is bought out by a managing company named, say, Bain Capital.

Then, they bring in workers from China for you to train so they can then take your job. The moment those workers show up, the American flag is taken down, and the moment those workers leave the flag goes back up.

What do you think that will do to your morale, and the morale of the entire company?

That's exactly what happened in Freeport, IL, at a company called Sensata Technologies.

Watch these employees describe the situation in their own words:

It is fair to point out that Romney hasn't had direct control of Bain Capital operations for a number of years now. But Bain never left Romney.

That's not the point, anyway.

The point is that Bain Capital was founded by Mitt Romney, and the business practice of taking over American companies and selling them off without regard to how it affects American people's jobs and livelihood was far too common practice for Bain Capital, even during Romney's time with the company.

Furthermore, Mitt Romney has said American companies shouldn't send jobs to China and that we should "crack down" on the practice. But this is a guy who's willing to say anything and contradict himself, too.

Given his business record, I find it hard to believe that Mitt Romney suddenly has a new business model that will help create jobs in this country.

Sorry, but I can't trust him to be President of the United States.

I keep hearing from a group of people that they weren't that
impressed with the iPhone 5. If you are one of those people, I'm genuinely
wondering, why exactly weren't you impressed? What could have Apple done
differently to "wow" you to the point you're compelled to switch from
your current phone or upgrade from a previous generation?

Perhaps the new, thinner and lighter design with aluminum
back, which can potentially make the phone more durable didn't do it for you. I
get that. But didn't the addition of LTE, an A6 processor that's claimed to be
twice as fast as the one found in the iPhone 4S, 1GB of RAM, a 4" screen,
an improved camera with the ability to record video and snap pictures at the
same time, and improved battery life when compared to the 4S impress you one
bit?

That's why I ask: what is the iPhone 5 missing that if it
had it you would have considered dropping your current phone?

Then, that same person has the audacity to run for President of the United States so that he can then earn more money, which by the way, it's paid for with American taxpayers' money?

I don't know about you, but that seems to me like a load of bullshit for someone to do that. I can understand why he wouldn't release his taxes; he doesn't have to. But paying one's dues to the country which has given you the opportunity to earn a considerable amount of money seems to me like it is not only the right thing to do, but a noble thing to do considering how many jobs he has ended or off-shored with the many company takeovers Bain Capital has been a part of. Why a noble thing to do? Because when those people who lose their jobs probably end up receiving unemployment benefits, probably end up needing healthcare, or food stamps. They probably have kids who are in the public school system. That's why, in my opinion, it would be the "noble" thing to do for him to pay his taxes.

But there isn't anything noble about Romney's business practices. I mean, his vulture capitalist practices really have a double whammy on the US economy when you really stop to think about it. Not only did Romney help end jobs and indebted companies, but in the process, he got rid of many taxpayers, which by the way, it is exactly what Republicans say we need in this country. And we do need taxpayers in this country. But those people who are out of work need unemployment relief, food stamps, healthcare, etc. in order to survive. And who's paying for that? Government is.

Which leads me to this. If companies out there are getting rid of jobs left and right, and companies that have the capital won't spend it on hiring new people, then where does the vicious cycle end? The answer in this case--as much as I hate to say it--would be government. Government has the authority to tax companies and people, and also has the authority to borrow money if it needs it. I think right now isn't the time for government to start making spending cuts. If anything, it should be spending more in order to help save or create more jobs. When government spends money, that money doesn't go to investors or to a small group of people, it goes right back to the economy in the form of jobs.

I imagine there's millions of people out there who would rather earn a living and work hard to make the "American Dream", than to sit at home doing nothing especially when you have a family at home who depends on you. So why don't we forget about republican proposals to cut spending and actually start borrowing more money? That way we can hire the people we need to do the things this country desperately needs? Like building roads, bridges, schools, hiring teachers that will educate the next generation of dreamers.

Don't take it at face value when you hear a politician or someone off the streets tell you that government isn't the answer. In the case of the current economy it is probably the only answer. General Motors is a prime example of this, not to mention the banks that were bailed out when they were on the brink of collapse.

Having Mitt Romney in office means that we could go back to policies that started the economic mess we're in right now. That's why I'm not voting for Mitt Romney in November.

It's official: Orlando Magic trade Dwight Howard to the Lakers

Monday night I tweeted a picture of what turns out to be an advancing "shelf" cloud. The weather always seems so crazy at the Space Center (where the picture was taken) that it's normal for me to take pictures and videos of approaching storms; most pictures and videos end up being deleted without ever being posted anywhere. I didn't think much of the picture at the time, but one of my followers, GailyW, thought it would be a good idea to share it with some meteorologists on Twitter, including a producer from The Weather Channel.

To make a long story short, the picture ended up being featured on WESH 2 News by Tony Mainolfi, on Weather Nation's website, and The Weather Channel. I think it's fair to say it was the most-favorited and retweeted picture I've ever posted.
Never in my mind did I think the picture would go that far, but I think it's pretty cool that it did, and thought I would share it here for all to see. I'm thinking that from now on I'm going to try to post more pictures, even if I don't think of them as being very spectacular.

Thank you, to all who favorited and retweeted the picture! And, also thanks to DisneyDean, NiHaoMindy, and GailyW for the comedic relief.
