A Great Queue

A great queue deserves great music and this one is a classic. As old as the building is it still has a great score a the interactive games installed a few years back makes sure any wait time here is time well spent.

New Fantasyland Dress Rehearsal

Although Walt Disney World's New Fantasyland didn't officially open until December 2012, there were several soft opening dates and it so happened this section of the Magic Kingdom was open to all guests on October 15th when we last visited. The overall theming of this new area is fantastic and calls to mind the photographs I've seen of Disney Seas. I hope the new area continues to impress as it's just fantastic.

DiVine - Simply Stunning Performance Art.

As a guest of the parks with a very clear opinion on how best to move person traffic through the various paths it's hard to me to admit that everyone once in a while I'm guilty of that nefarious offense that bothers me so much: stopping smack dab in the middle of a walkway with out warning.

The most recent event occurred during a casual stroll from Asia to Africa in Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. Travelling with a gaggle of junior members from Photos from the Parks I felt like a mama duck keeping the ducklings together as we headed to the Tusker House when all of a sudden DiVine stepped out into the path. I nearly tripped over one of my charges and spent the next 10 minutes enthralled as she made her way out amongst the guests and singlehandedly caused a traffic backup, the kind that makes my blood boil. Fortunately, there was no pressing need to push through and it was a good lesson for me.

There are at least two cast members who portray DiVine and while I've had the pleasure to see images of both, I've only met the CM above. Please note these performers do not speak with guests nor do they sign autographs (their hands and feet are all connected to stilts) but they do interact in a way that is simply stunning.

What happened to the buzzard?

Although most folks clearly understand why this attraction is worth riding again and again it pains me to see many of the special features fall to the wayside. While it's been many years since the Yeti's mechanical arm swiped down above the train cars and the various mist and chiller areas sometimes do and don't function, I always appreciated the buzzard or other bird of prey that perched atop the peak and added a certain sense of foreboding while the tracks in back of you switched over.

I'm not sure when this feature disappeared but it was entirely missing during our October 2012 trip. Does anyone know if it's gone for good?

Cinderella's Royal Table is always a great way to start the day. Just remember, whether you're booking for a group of 14 or just the immediate family, book 180 days in advance.

During this trip in October 2012, the breakfast menu provided multiple options; I chose the lobster and crab crepe with a poached egg. What a great way to start my day in the Magic Kingdom! Unfortunately, breakfast options have reverted back to the standard breakfast items while options for lunch and dinner remain a bit more diverse and gourmet in flavor.
