At the Blogger Brunch we learned about the history of Krispy Kreme®. Who started Krispy Kreme? Glad you asked, Vernon Rudolph did. He bought a secret yeast raised doughnut recipe from a French chef from New Orleans. He set up his shop in a rented building and began selling them in 1937 to local grocery stores. People began stopping by his building and asked to buy the hot doughnuts, and he began selling the doughnuts directly to customers from his building.

In 1973 he passed away and the companies growth slowed and was reorganized for sale to Beatrice Foods company in 1976. In 1982 a small group of associates, their early franchisees, bought Krispy Kreme® back and began to expand. They now have 646 locations world wide and in 21 different countries. That's comfort food away from home!

Krispy Kreme® Philly is planning to open about 21 stores in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties in the next few years. Aren't you happy about that? I am! They even have a nutritional book available in stores if you want to have a read.

My thoughts on the blogger brunch:

It was nice to meet up with bloggers I knew, and some I knew from blogging groups but had not met before.

The store is new, clean and has a steady stream of customers.

The event coordinators were extremely friendly, hospitable, and knowledgeable.

The associates of the store were friendly, polite, and hard working. They let us take photos and brought us samples of tasty products from Krispy Kreme®.

(this is only my second Vine post, but it was fun to watch them making doughnuts)

Upon our departure we were given a fresh hot dozen Original® Glazed Doughnuts to take home to our families. Good thing we can roll up the car windows or cars would have followed us all home.

We were also given some great "swag" A shirt and coffee mug to remember our fun tasty day.

I know, now we all want to buy Krispy Kreme ® Doughnuts. Look for a location near you!

Most of us use social media and can see the photos as soon as the baby is born. As was the case on Saturday, our niece and her husband had a baby girl and we were all so thrilled to see the new baby.

This weekend on Saturday May 11, 2013 schedule time to watch Hallmark Channel for the world premier of The Confession at 9 PM EST, 8 PM Central time. It's a Hallmark Channel original movie with a cast of talented actors you will recognize, a quant setting, and old world wealth some will take when no one is looking.

I watched the show this morning and it was great! Money and power struggle over love and devotion.There is no clear path to the end of the movie. Characters are added to the story you don't expect, and Mom does know best.

Take a break this Saturday night, sit down, let the laundry and dishes wait, and watch the movie before celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday.

Watch it with your mom, or let her know about the movie premier this Saturday. The Confession is based on the novel by New York Times Best Selling Author, Beverly Lewis. Lewis' book is based on her own experiences and heritage.

The movie is about Katie Lapp finding her birth mother. Katie is from the Amish community in Lancaster Pennsylvania. Katie is shunned by her community for a incident involving her boyfriend's death. She leaves her adopted family, the family that raised her, and cared for her after her birth mother gave her away. She ventures out in the world to look for her birth mother. She is hired as a waitress, and makes friends with one of the other waitresses. They become roommates and she helps Katie find her birth mother with the help of Internet resources to which Katie is unfamiliar.

Katie finds her mother, who is Laura Mayfield-Bennett, alive and living as a socialite in a large estate left to her by her family. The timing of Katie's arrival at her mother's home is unusual, as another Katie (real name Alyson) arrives before Katie Lapp arrives. Laura Mayfield-Bennett believes the first Katie to arrive is her daughter. The house staff think that Katie is there as a replacement to one of the staff that was recently fired. The real daughter, Katie Lapp does not tell Ms Bennett that she is her daughter at any point in the movie. She is concerned that someone is impersonating her, and why would someone want to be her.

It turns out Mrs. Bennett's husband is in a bit of trouble from his gambling issues and has debts that need to be paid. He finds a way to have his wife's will changed in order that the impostor Katie would inherit the estate. Mrs. Bennett is dying from Cancer, and has her attorneys on hand to change the will to leave everything to her daughter.

I listened to Rod Stewart's new CD "Time" during my mom time, you know, waiting in the car for the kids.

As I am writing this post, I am in my car waiting on my daughter to finish up her first year of college, last final exam. One year done. The car windows are down an inch, it's a muggy sunny day, and I want nothing more that to turn the car on and run the AC, and turn my radio up louder. I am the mom waiting for my kids in the parking lot, but this is college and I don't want to look to nerdy blasting music in my car. Do you know what I mean?

The only saving part of this waiting is Rod Stewart. Wait, What? He is singing again? Yes, he is, and his new album "Time" has been released for sale today, May 7, 2013.

Rod Stewart has spent four decades being a rock star, three being a parent, and has a new album's worth of rollicking stories to tell. Time is his first album of new material in almost 20 years.

I'm a fan of his music, and happy to be listening to this album, even in my hot car. He is singing about love, happiness, marriage, divorce, and romance. It's easy to listen to his words and fit them in your own life in one or all of his songs.

Suddenly ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head," he says. "Next thing I knew, I had a song called 'It's Over' about divorce and separation. And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me. I finished seven or eight songs very quickly and I still wasn't done, and it became apparent that I would eventually have a whole album of material to record."

I tried it out on the shower in bathroom in my bedroom. I'd buy this again since it was easy to use and did do well cleaning the shower stall. I like the spray formula and that the gel sticks to the surface until you are ready to wipe it off. I tend to spray cleaners on the surface and then start cleaning something else, so it's great that Soft Scrub® Mold and Mildew is a gel and stays put on the stain until I wiped it off the wall.

Tomorrow we will be moving my daughter home from her Freshman year at college. When we moved her in to her "Castle" because she really did live in a castle, the soccer team was there to ferry all her things to her third floor room. Living in a castle did not warrant an elevator or lift, and there are flights of stairs. Imagine Harry Potter's living quarters, and that gives a pretty good picture of where she lived this year.

How are we going to get all that stuff down three flights up zig zag stairs cases?

this is the main stair case, then it's two flights of these zig zag steps. It's a work out.

Dinner time with Rose Romano's Italian Peppers, can you top that?

Tonight's dinner is all about Rose Romano's Italian Peppers. It's Thursday night, the hubby is home from a long business trip, one daughter is home from school, and I'll be cook and dishwasher, which means- I will load the dishwasher after dinner.

So, what did we have for dinner with Rose Romano's Italian Peppers? I made Chicken Ricadi, a recipe from the cookbook that accompanied the jars of Italian Peppers.

There are two types of toppings, one with Marina and Red Bell Pepper, and one with Mariana and Green Bell Pepper. The toppings are a creation to honor the Romano and Angotti families culture and cuisine brought from Italy to the United States. The product is all natural, and does not contain synthetic preservatives. It's fresh bell peppers simmered in Marina sauce, and we all gave it a thumbs up for taste and versatility.

Back to our dinner, Chicken Ricadi, a sandwich full of flavor and fresh taste.
Ingredients for this recipe are:
6 ounce boneless chicken breast, per sandwich, I used thin cut which is a little less than the 6 ounces.
eggplant slicked thick, one slice for each sandwich.

I grilled the chicken in a grill pan with enough olive oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
In the same pan, after the chicken was cooked, I grilled the eggplant slices.

to make the sandwich use Ciabatta bread cut, and grill both sides.

Assemble the sandwich like this:
on one side of the bread layer:
1 tablespoon peppers, I used the red bell pepper marina
1 teaspoon grated Pecorino Romano cheese
1 chicken breast
2 ounces Provolone cheese
1 tablespoon Italian Peppers
top with other slice of Ciabatta bread

Reheat the sandwich in the pan to melt the cheese. Then sit down to dinner and enjoy!

We also enjoyed veggie pasta with green bell pepper marina. We used the red bell pepper in the sandwich. Both toppings were incredibly yummy. I can't wait to see how many foods my family will be topping with these jars of marina. I foresee weekend breakfasts of eggs and hash browns topped with green bell pepper marinara.

top a baked potato
top a scrambled egg
top your pasta
top any type of sandwich
top chicken, fish, beef, what ever you like.
top your bagel or muffin
top vegetables

Chris O’Donnell, he is Irish, a good family man, and have been a fan of his since he played Robin in Bateman. LL COOL J and he are an awesome team to watch along with the rest of the cast. Have you ever watched a show without the volume, as in hit the mute button? It's not as exciting without the music. Right. I'll admit, if I am watching a really scary show, I turn the sound off, then it's not as scary. However for NCIS Los Angeles, I don't ever turn the sound down. It totally makes the show.

My favorite track on this CD is Never Die by Daughtry. I liked him on American Idol and glad to see him doing so well. This CD has a nice variety of artists and songs. LL COOL J and Ne-Yo perform "No More". It's only fitting that LL Cool J has a song on his show, right!
