Coach Pitch - Developmental - 5 and 6 year olds - Introductory level for boys interested in baseball, this level teaches the basics of throwing, catching, hitting and base running. The emphasis is on teaching and fun since scores nor standings are kept.

Maverick - Developmental - 6 and 7 year olds - Introduction to the Pinto League with modified Pinto rules. Maverick starts the season with coach pitch and then converts to player pitch. This allows coaches to develop pitching in the first half of the season. This level is for 6 year olds who understand baseball fundamentals and want more competition than Coach Pitch and it is for 7 year olds who may not be ready for a full season of player pitch and the competition at the Pinto level.

Pinto - Competitive - 7 and 8 year olds - Pinto is for players looking for a higher level of development and competition but focus still on teaching the game. Scores and standings kept, playoffs at year end, full season of player pitch.

*In addition, there is a $50 per family activity fee

2012 Spring Softball Season

The spring season for softball will start on Saturday 4-21-12 and run till the end of June. Each team will play 1 game during the weekday starting at 5:45 pm or 7:45 pm and 1 game on Saturday. We will not play any games on Friday through Monday of Memorial weekend. Playoffs will be the last two weeks of June. Any rainouts during the season will be played when there is field space potentially even on Sundays. HELMETS

Just a reminder that the PAC will not issue helmets to teams for batting this season. Each player is responsible to provide their own helmet(NOCSAE approved). Also all girls softball players must have a cage on the front of the helmet and all boys ages 10 and under must also have a cage.

Spring 2012 Recreation Season Registration

To Register for the Spring 2012 Recreation program, please click here!

General Information

The Spring 2012 season games will begin on April 14th. The coaches will receive their rosters at the coaches meeting which will be held the 3rd week of March. Coaches will contact their teams at that time.

Fees

The cost of the Spring season is $105 per player plus a $15 Park District Service Fee. Visa and Mastercard are accepted through a secured site when registering online. Checks are also an accepted form of payment for online registration. Please make checks payable to PSA. There is a $25 fee for all returned checks.

Registration Dates

Registration will be available online from January 9th through February 5th. We will be holding one in person registration. In person registration will be held at Just For Kicks on January 21st from 8:00am - 3:00pm.

Wait List

Registration for the wait list will be available online from February 6th through March 31st.

Season Dates and Times

The season will run from April 14th through June 9th. Games can run from 8:15am - 3:30pm. The boys divisions will have the earlier games with the girls games following.

Length of Games

U5 Girls and Boys - 7 minute quarters (4v4 no goalie)
U6 Girls and Boys – 8 minute quarters (5v5 with a goalie)
U7 Girls and Boys – 10 minute quarters (5v5 with a goalie)
U8 Girls and Boys – 10 minute quarters (5v5 with a goalie)
U10 Girls and Boys - 12 minute quarters (7v7 with a goalie)
U12 Girls and Boys and U14 Girls - 30 minute halves (9v9 with a goalie)
U14 Boys – 30min halves (11v11 with a goalie)

Uniform

PSA will provide a jersey that the player will keep at the end of the season. Players are required to wear black shorts, black socks and shin guards. Soccer cleats (no front toe cleat) or gym shoes are to be worn. For player safety, unprotected eyeglasses may not be worn. Players may either wear prescription sports goggles or sports goggles over glasses. The wearing of jewelry (earrings, rings, necklaces, watches…), hard casts and any items deemed harmful by the referees are strictly prohibited during games.

Refund Policy

There is a $20 non-refundable fee from the time of registration through March 5th. Half of the registrationn fee ($60) will be refunded from March 6th through April 14th. Once games begin on April 14th, there will not be any refunds issued.

Age Requirements

Children must have turned 4 years old prior to August 1, 2011 but not older than 13 years of age on July 31, 2011. Our league is divided into the following divisions based on the age of your child as of July 31, 2011.

Your child’s coach will contact your by phone or email before the season starts. PSA cannot guarantee the placement of your child on a specific team, unless you volunteer and are chosen to coach a team.

PSA is a volunteer run association. Please come and join in on the fun of providing a quality soccer program for the youth of our community.

Just Announced - Plainfield Soccer Association Legends Tryouts. We're the premier competitive travel program in Plainfield and surrounding area. We invite players to bring their soccer cleats, shin guards and a bottle of water to tryouts. We'll provide a Plainfield Legends tryout t-shirt. Our licensed professional coaches will test your skills and assess your abilities. Accepted players will be placed with a Legends team that provides the ideal environment for achieving goals. Plainfield Legends practices and matches are led by our Legends professional coaching staff, in a competitive and supportive environment. Legends teams compete in some of the highest divisions of the Northern Illinois Soccer League and Illinois Women's Soccer League.

And Plainfield Legends teams have the opportunity to participate in some of the most prestigious tournaments in Northern Illinois and the Midwest. Below are tryout dates for Plainfield Legends 2011-12 season (however, a tryout can be arranged throughout the year):

Fall Ball Registrations

Fall 2010 registration is now open. We will take registrations until the divisions are full. Due to shortage of fields in the fall season the number of teams in each division is limited. This is first come, first serve until all spots are filled.

Here are the rates for the Fall 2010 season. There is no activity fee, fundraiser, or multiple player discount in the fall season.

The Plainfield Saints are proud members of Pop Warner

Pop Warner was founded in 1929 and is the nation's largest youth football and cheer organization with over 425,000 participants across 42 states. Pop Warner is the only national youth sports organization that requires scholastic aptitude to participate and is committed to developing our youth on and off the field. Competition takes place at the local, regional and national levels. Between 60-70% of all current NFL players got their start playing Pop Warner football.

Boys ages 6 & 7:

If your son is going to be 6 for 2010 season and wants to play at the Maverick level, he will register in Coach Pitch and must attend evaluations on January 31st to be moved into Maverick. Players that do not attend evaluations will be placed in the Coach pitch division.

If your son is going to be 7 for 2010 season and wants to play at the Pinto level, he will register in Pinto and must attend evaluations on January 31st to be moved into Pinto. Players that do not attend evaluations will be placed in the Maverick division.

Player Evaluations is January 31st at Plainfield South High School - Details and times will be sent in Jaunary.

Fall In House Basketball & Cheerleading

Come join the ATL Rams for another exciting season full of fun and player development in our non-tryout league. ATL Youth Sports is a not for profit youth sports organization that offers teaching focused team sports play for young basketball, & soccer players and cheerleaders grades K-8.

Our 12 weeks fall league begins Sept. 15, 2009 - Dec 6, 2009.

BASKETBALL:

Grades 1-8: - NO Tryouts

This is a teaching focused league were players play on teams within there age/ grade division. This a great place for all players regardless of skill level to enjoy team play. We are staff by professional coaches who put the well being of our young athletes first. Our teaching curriculum is designed to allow each young athlete to reach his or her individual. Players are evaluated during practices and placed on teams to insure a level playing field. Players receive a complete basketball uniform, included in league fees.

CHEERLEADING

Grades K-8 - NO Tryouts

Our cheerleaders are the spirit of our league by cheering our sidelines during games. Cheerleaders are taught a variety of sideline cheers and chants as well as a half time routine they perform at each game. Additionally, all our squads will have the opportunity to compete at the Spirit Spectacular Cheer and Dance Competition in Nov. in the Recreation Division. Cheerleaders receive a complete uniform, included in the league fee.

Chicagoland Law Tigers Urge Drivers to Start Seeing Motorcycles!!!

With temperatures rising in the Chicagoland area, more motorcycles and scooters are on the road, and the Chicagoland Law Tigers are urging automobile drivers to START SEEING MOTORCYCLE!!! According to the latest data available from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 103,000 motorcyclists were injured in 2007, up from 88,000 in 2006. In most cases, it’s not their fault!!!

Because of a motorcyclist’s size in relation to a car, many drivers fail to see motorcycles. Like all accidents, a number of different factors can be at large. Many times, however, accidents involving motorcycles are the fault of the automobile driver. Tim Kelly, a member of the American Association of Motorcycle Injury Lawyers and the Chicagoland Law Tigers affiliate office, sees this all too often. Kelly anticipates that, “as more and more motorcycles join drivers on the road, we could see a significant increase in serious accidents and/or deaths. Drivers must learn to respect motorcyclists and share the road.”

To Kelly, a Harley Davidson Night Train owner and motorcycle enthusiast, concern for fellow riders is a given. “We want to make people aware. We talk to injured riders on a daily basis. Law Tigers fight for riders after they’ve been hit, but we feel the best way to help riders is to try to do anything to prevent these crashes,” says Kelly.

They offer automobile drivers some recommendations that might save a life of a motorcyclist:

•Be aware when making left turns: Most motorcycle accidents occur at intersections, watch for motorcycle riders when making a left turn.

•Cell phones: Be aware that cell phone usage can distract from driving properly and pose a threat to everyone’s safety on the road.

•Blind spots: check blind spots at all times, as motorcyclists are often out of view when cars attempt to make lane changes.

•Weather: When the road is wet or icy, it makes it more difficult for motorcycles to brake and handle their bike, be respectful and give them some space.

•Obscured visibility: Large vehicles such as buses, trucks and vans can make a motorcyclist appear out of no where. Be aware of the driver’s view from the vehicle.

•Strong winds: Be prepared at all times for a strong gust of wind that can move a motorcyclist unexpectedly into a different lane. This is something that they can sometimes not control.

•Road Conditions: Potholes, obstructions and other items in the street aren’t always a serious concern for drivers, but can cause serious concerns to motorcyclists and may require lane changes or a decrease in speed. Give them as much or more room as a car may need.

•Parked Vehicles: Look for motorcyclists before you open a door, and tell other passengers to do the same.

“Most non-riders have no idea of the time and money that motorcyclists donate to helping others in their communities. The Law Tigers are dedicated to supporting them. It’s the least we can do when there’s so much out there working against riders. We want to level the playing field. We want to support our own,” said Kelly.

“Baseball Dreaming" - An Evening with Gary W. Moore

This is a reminder and special invitation to the CULMINATING EVENT for the 2009 Great Read community literacy program.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 1, 2009, The Great Read is proud to present “Baseball Dreaming - An Evening with Gary W. Moore” in the auditorium at Plainfield East High School, 12001 S. Naperville Road, Plainfield.

The program is free and the entire community is invited. Please spread the word and plan to attend.

Author Gary W. Moore will talk about his book, Playing with the Enemy, which has been the center of this year's Great Read program. The program started last fall, just as baseball was ending, and is ending tomorrow, just as baseball is beginning!

If you haven't read it yet, Playing with the Enemy is a fascinating and exciting true story about Gene Moore, a baseball phenomenon from Sesser, Illinois who gets drafted into the military during WWII, ju st as he is signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers -- at the ripe old age of 15!

However, if you can believe it, that is just the beginning of this incredible, true adventure about baseball, the war and father-son relationships, and, of all things, the U505 submarine housed at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

Moore will sign books from 5-6 p.m. before speaking. PEHS drama students will perform a scene from the book. There will be a display of WWII memorabilia, and Moore will begin speaking at 7 p.m.

A reception/meet-and-greet will follow the program from 8-9 p.m. Plainfield East High School baseball players will also be on hand to make the evening even more authentic and special.
