It has been reported that the invitation for rapper and hip-hop mogul Jim Jones to perform at a Jersey City school on National HIV Testing Day has been rescinded, with city officials saying his work promotes violence.

Officials say they nixed the invite from the city Department of Health and Human Services when they read some of Jones’ lyrics.

Jones has been very candid about losing his father and uncle to AIDS. City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said that while the June 27 event has been canceled, the city is offering free HIV testing at several locations through the end of June.

“The City of Jersey City is proud to sponsor events during the month of June that encourage our residents to be tested for HIV/AIDS,” Morrill said. “When it was brought to the attention of the Mayor’s Office staff that Mr. Jones was the star of the concert, a careful review of Mr. Jones’ lyrics was done and ultimately the decision was made to cancel the show.

“Mayor (Jerramiah) Healy has always been a proponent of positive outlets for our youth and a strong gun control advocate,” she added. “Mr. Jones’ lyrics speak of violence to women and police, of the drug trade and guns, and other activities that Mayor Healy could not endorse by sponsoring an event featuring Mr. Jones.”

Kevin Garnett, his Boston Celtics franchise and adidas are teaming to launch a rare version of Garnett's 2008-09 adidas Team Signature Commander shoe, designed to commemorate the Celtics' run at an NBA Championship.

The shoe company will produce only eight pairs per game to be sold at retail, starting at 10 a.m. June 5. As few as 32 pairs or as many as ....56 pairs will be available depending on the number of championship games played in the series.

One special pair of shoes autographed by KG will be auctioned off on NBA.com after The Finals. All profits from the sale of these shoes will go to NBA Cares community partners in the Boston area.

The adidas Team Signature KG Commander is scheduled to launch in October 2008, but for this year's NBA Finals, Garnett will wear a special version that will be highlighted by the inclusion of the Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy on the medial side, and an embroidered callout to games 1 thru 7 on the lateral side. Iconic Fashion King, YvesSaint Laurent changed the face of the fashion industry when he became chief designer of the House of Dior at 21.
He designed clothes that reflected women's changing role in society: more confident personally, sexually and in the work-place.
He retired from haute couture in 2002 and had been ill for some time.
Saint Laurent died on Sunday evening in the French capital, the Pierre-Berge-Saint Laurent Foundation announced.
Pierre Berge, a long-time friend and associate of the designer, said he had died at his home after along illness. He did not give details. May He RIP!!

A multimillion-dollar Long Island home at the center of a dispute between Grammy-nominated rapper 50 Cent and his former girlfriend was destroyed by a supicious fire early Friday.
The blaze occurred just days after a heated confrontation inside the woman's attorney's office over the home. 50 Cent does not live in the home and apparently wasn't there at the time.
but officials would not say if the fire was suspicious.
Six people inside the Dix Hills home were taken to a hospital suffering smoke inhalation. Police later said they were treated and released. A firefighter also suffered a minor eye injury, officials said.
Investigators from the Suffolk County arson squad were called to the scene after Dix Hills Fire Chief Larry Feld deemed the blaze suspicious. The fire was reported at 4:59 a.m. and was extinguished about 45 minutes later, Feld said.
He referred the case to the arson squad "because of the intensity of the fire, and also being that who belongs to the house."
Police confirmed that the victims included the rapper's former girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, and two of her children, including a son fathered by 50 Cent. The other three adults in the home were not immediately identified.
A passing off-duty police officer helped rescue the six people off an elevated deck in the home's backyard, Feld said.
Earlier this year, Tompkins filed suit against 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, claiming he had promised her the $2.4 million house more than a decade ago, but that since their breakup he now wants to evict her and their 10-year-old son from the home.
Tompkins' lawyer, Paul Catsandonis, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that the dispute over the house had become "extremely, extremely contentious" in recent days. Although he declined to be specific, he said there was an "extremely dangerous incident" on Monday in his Manhattan office while taking a deposition for the lawsuit.
The dispute was "involving the parties in question," he said.
He said the case was back on the calendar in state Supreme Court in Manhattan on June 10.
Brett Kimmel, an attorney for 50 Cent, did not immediately return calls for comment Thursday.
Catsandonis said the 32-year-old rapper paid about $2.4 million for the house, one of the largest in the Long Island neighborhood of Dix Hills. He said 50 Cent, who was shot outside his grandmother's Queens home in 2000, had told Tompkins, 32, he wanted her and their son to live in a safe and secure place.
He also contended that the rapper signed an agreement that would give Tompkins half of all the rappers' earnings as a hip-hop superstar. "Everything that's his is hers, everything that's hers is his. He memorialized in an email that he intended to give her the house."
The rapper has been nominated for 13 Grammys, including nods for the song "In da Club" and the album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'." In 2005, he starred with Terrence Howard in a semi-autobiographical movie based on that album.
He also starred in the 2006 film "Home of the Brave" as a soldier returning home from the Iraq War.

Pfleger-ant foul: Priest Caught on tape ranting about Hilary At Obama's church Again

The Rev. Michael Pfleger mocked Sen. Hillary Clinton from the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ -- earning him a reprimand Thursday from Sen. Barack Obama as his comments threaten to resurrect the politically radioactive Rev. Jeremiah Wright as a campaign issue.
Pfleger, the outspoken activist pastor of St. Sabina in Auburn-Gresham, spoke at Trinity last Sunday night, and his videotaped comments about Clinton started to ricochet around the Internet. Introduced by Wright's successor, the Rev. Otis Moss III, Pfleger starts talking of the need to expose ''white entitlement and supremacy wherever it raises its head.

Pfleger continues, referring to Clinton's tearing up just before the New Hampshire primary -- which may have helped her win.

''Rev. Moss, when Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on, I really don't believe it was put on,'' Pfleger says from the pulpit. ''I really believe that she just always thought, 'This is mine! I'm Bill's wife, I'm white, and this is mine! I just gotta get up and step into the plate.' And then out of nowhere came, 'Hey, I'm Barack Obama,' and she said, 'Oh, damn! Where did you come from? I'm white! I'm entitled! There's a black man stealing my show!' ''

Pfleger then pretended to wipe tears from his eyes. "She wasn't the only one crying, there was a whole lot of white people crying.''

As he wrapped up, Pfleger must have sensed he went too far. ''Sorry . . . don't want to get you into any more trouble,'' he said, a reference to the controversial Wright, whom Obama cut ties with April 30, following what he called Wright's ''rants'' during a press conference at the National Press Club here. Moss, back on the pulpit, said, "We thank God for the message and we thank God for the messenger."

Republicans have already started hitting Obama over Wright, and by Thursday had seized on Pfleger's comments.

Obama, in a statement, said, ''As I have traveled this country, I've been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger's divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn't reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause.''

Pfleger, a passionate advocate for the down-and-out, immediately issued an apology: ''I regret the words I chose on Sunday. These words are inconsistent with Senator Obama's life and message, and I am deeply sorry if they offended Senator Clinton or anyone else who saw them.''

Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt said Pfleger stepped down from a ''Catholics for Obama'' committee a few weeks ago, but would not say why.

The Bulls franchise is hoping that their selection of Doug Collins as head coach of the Bulls will be a start in bringing back the Bulls of Old when Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippin and Dennis Rodman ruled the NBA.

Collins coached the Bulls from 1986-89 and took the Bulls to the Eastern Conference finals. He also coached the Detroit Pistons and later coached Michael Jordan on the Washington Wizards.

Collins is an intense, fiery coach, who will remind some of Scott Skiles, who was fired on Christmas Eve.

Recently, Collins said he didn't want to leave his broadcasting job with TNT. Since then, the Bulls landed the No. 1 draft pick.

"I know Doug's got the itch [to coach again]," a league source said. "I think the Bulls' youth intrigues Doug more than the Phoenix [Suns] situation. He's a teacher That's what he likes to do.
"He might have been leery about the veterans on the Suns, including Shaq.

Dude,You won't be getting a Dell, Dell Found Guilty of Fraud

Dell was found guilty on Tuesday of fraud, false advertising, deceptive business practices and abusive debt collection practices in a case brought by the New York attorney general.

The Albany County Supreme Court found that Dell deprived customers of technical support that they bought or were eligible for under warranty in several ways, including by requiring people to wait for very long times on the phone, repeatedly transferring their calls and frequently disconnecting their calls.

Dell also often failed to provide onsite repairs for customers who bought contracts for such support and often blamed software when hardware was actually the problem, the court found. The company also sometimes refused to offer support when a support contract ended, even though the user had first complained about a problem before the end of the contract. Subscribers to a "next-day" repair service sometimes waited as long as a year for support, the court found.

Dell and affiliate Dell Financial Services also advertised special no-interest financing, but denied almost everyone those terms. It often sold customers products without informing them that they didn't qualify for the special financing terms and then charged them interest rates as high as 30 percent, the court said.

Dell and DFS also often incorrectly billed people for cancelled orders and for accounts they didn't authorize. The companies then harassed the people for payment, using illegal billing and collection practices, the court said.

The court will determine how much Dell will have to pay in restitution to affected customers and will also require Dell to pay the state of New York the profits it made on these deceptive practices. In addition, the ruling prohibits Dell and DFS from continuing to engage in the fraudulent activities.

The court laid out plans for investigating how many people have been affected as a way to determine restitution. Dell hopes that the court will find that only a few people had bad experiences. "We're confident that when the proceedings are completed, the court will determine that only a relatively small number of customers have been affected," Dell said in a statement. "We believe that our customer service levels are at or above industry standards."

Earlier this week 50 Cent attended a deposition in a lawsuit which is being filed for 50 million dollars by his baby mama Shaniqua Tompkins. Shaniqua’s boyfriend and 2 other men showed up to the deposition in an attempt to provoke 50 into an altercation so they can possibly sue for more money later. In addition to the lawsuit, Ms. Tompkins also filed a false complaint saying that 50 Cent pushed her. She previously threatened to call the police on 50 Cent when he went to pick up his son from a basketball game.
50 hasn’t been able to see his child since April 3rd, the day the courts ordered the eviction of Ms. Tompkins from the home owned by Fifty.
