My Dear AEM students from East Spring Sec School,

A warm welcome to all of you to join us at this AEM!

I am very excited as I am preparing and waiting to see all of you in coming Monday 24 March 2014!

You are taking a long journey from Tampines to Ngee Ann Polytechnic daily for the course and together let's make sure we make the time you are going to spend at it COUNT!

All the best to you!

Bid Goodbye to my AEM students from Jurongville Sec!

2013-06-21T02:16:00.000-07:00

Time really flies! Before we knew it, we have come to the end of our 5-days AEM classes!

I am seldom emotional, especially in class. But I think I will miss them.

I know I am not the fantastic lecturer or teacher you are looking for. But I am glad that we have learned and had fun together! Hope you all will have a chance to make use of what we have learned in this course.

Hope to see some of you here in Ngee Ann Poly in the next future! And all the best to your future studies!

I think I can remember your names: Wei Xiang, Derek, Jia Rong, Zhao Yu, Melisa, Brandon, Sin Kai, Charmaine, Zhen Ling, Jessica, Jasmine, Patricia, Jian Hao, Si Ying, Karin, Jian Heng, James, Zheng Jie, Xing Zhi, Gina, and See Yen.

And sorry for Jian Heng because he missed the lunch in the dark due to some reason. And Hope Gina will well recovered from her sickness soon!

I will concentrate on my poly students for the next two months for now.

Good Bye!

Configuring Facebook, Twitter & Blogger

2013-06-10T02:28:00.000-07:00

This is an interesting area to look at. Many new stuffs are coming up everyday and even facebook and twitter are changing many of the settings regularly. Therefore, I spent quite some time on getting them to work together again.

But it's fun!

Therefore, I am looking forward to seeing another group of Secondary students next week during the E-Business Dynamics course! We will link these things together again! YEAH!

DSS Tutorial 1 questions

2012-10-22T20:56:00.000-07:00

Steps on starting tutorials:

Download and Read the powerpoint slides for lesson 1 and lesson 2 to understand what are covered in lesson 1 and 2.
Download the data files for lesson 1, Lesson 2and Unit Application 1
Two videos have been produced for skill review 1-30 and lesson application 1-34. They shows how to do the textbook exercises step by step. Watch the video together with your textbook to understand how to do the textbook's excel exercise.
Try the other skill reviews and lesson application exercises and note down problems you have. DO NOT get stuck in a question. Note down your problem and move on to the next question. You can consult your tutor or your friend during class.

FAQs for Tutorial 1:

Exercise 1-30: Mac Book computer ruler unit

Problem: The ruler unit used in Mac Book is different from Windows.
Answer: There is NO default ruler unit in Mac Book's Excel. Therefore, ignore the exercise as long as you understand how to change the column width/row height.

Exercise 1-31: fill handler & fill without formatting

Problem: Don't know what is fill handler and fill without formatting.
Answer: Check your textbook Page 19, Exercise 1-12 Fill a Label Series

Exercise 1-32: Argument of function

Problem: Don't know what is function and what is arguments of functions
Answer: Check your textbook Page 29 Getting Aquainted with Excel Functions

Exercise 2-21 date format:

Problem: The expected date format is different from the textbook requirment
Answer: It's because the textbook is following US date format(MM/DD/YYYY) while our computers are mostly using Singapore date format(DD/MM/YYYY). Therefore, it's OK if your results is slightly different from the one in textbook. Just make sure that you understand what is and how to apply the date format.

Google Docs cannot edit uploaded MS word documents

2012-10-22T00:01:00.000-07:00

I am not sure why Google has disabled the function. But there is a solution to it:
Go to google drive --> Setting --> Upload Settings --> Convert uploaded files to Google Docs Format

When you are done, in future when you upload MS word documents to Google Drive, you should be able to open and edit it online through google docs.
