Working together

2014-06-16T12:24:00.001-07:00

The Greenville Etsy Team got together this month for a crafty evening at the Taylors Mill coffee house! And guess what? Me, Riss and Angie went! We had a great time sewing and coloring on our photographs while drinking iced coffee!!! Due South Coffee was so generous to accommodate our craftiness and was such a neat place! Clarissa and I worked on a few photos together and some we worked on individually. Clarissa worked a little bit and then found a friend to run around the coffee house with and be silly!

Happy Fathers Day!

Good times to remember!

2014-05-12T11:39:00.000-07:00

At 9 month's old, it was Lula Mae's first time at the beach!

I would build the sand castle and then Clarissa would gladly knock it down and Lula Mae would gladly eat it!

What a great way and place to spend Mother's Day...Fripp Island for 5 days! We all had a great time playing in the ocean, making sand castles, and riding the golf cart every evening looking for deer this past week/weekend! The weather was perfect, sunny days and pleasant evenings, we really got lucky!

Experimental sand castle materials...

Sand Castles are magical!

Clarissa and I found some time in between beach excursions and golf cart rides to work on some sketches!

We were into mermaids while at the beach!

On the last day, Clarissa found a large puzzle to put together! I really enjoyed this very special Mother's Day! At the end of the day Sunday I got to order a new pair of Dr Martens I've been dreaming about!

Great weekend!

2014-05-05T11:34:00.001-07:00

This weekend was a busy one! Saturday morning we went to a church yard sale we love to go to and found a few bargains. Then for lunch we went to a Boy Scout bar-b-q in the neighborhood. After naps it was time to get ready for girls night out!

Since this Saturday was the opening of the Open Studios Retro show, Clarissa and I had a girls night out and left Lula Mae home with daddy! We picked up aunt Angie and took off to the show! We had a fun time eating art show snacks and looking at art!

Clarissa was excited to see our piece hanging in the show!

Then we sat on the bench outside downtown and people watched...that was interesting...lots of prom dresses! Clarissa kept saying all the prom couples were getting married!!!

On Sunday it was Scott's turn to go to church. Me and Lulu stayed home and packed, getting ready for our Fripp Island trip!!!

We love the weekends at the Hart house!!!

Getting organized!

2014-04-30T16:44:00.001-07:00

I'm kind of a geek when it comes to office and art supplies!

I'm trying my best to get organized! I have made a carry all for my colored pens, washi tape, and scissors on one side and my sketchbook and planner on the other side. Trying to make it easier to know where to go every day and get a sketch in once in a while!

The planner is a Moleskin from Barnes and Noble, second one I've had so far. I like how simple they are yet still has room for sketches on each week! The bag came from Hobby Lobby and all supplies from Greenville Office Supply and the Mighty Dollar (my favorite place to shop!)

Bird in a Cage

Had some spare time...

2014-03-26T07:45:00.001-07:00

While away for a few days in the Bahamas I had a few minutes to start reading a book and work on a sketchbook!

A new chapter in our book of life!

2013-10-31T07:12:00.000-07:00

Been a long time since I've been here...been a little busy making a person and getting to know her! Life has been exciting for us lately at the Hart house! Our new addition to our family is Lula Mae (almost 3 months... She is celebrating her first Halloween with big sissy Clarissa (3.5 years) here in this picture! This year I turn 45 and Scott will turn 53 on his next birthday so we are very blessed to have our little family with such a late start! We have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

I have my hands full with these two little girls but loving every minute of it! My most recent project involves, at the moment, just watching Clarissa and learning from her while she paints and collages. It is so amazing to see how she creates and reacts to what she makes. I have learned so much from her, the innocence of a child with paper and paint is so refreshing. Then we have added oil crayons, markers, glue, glitter, tape and scissors! New work will start soon once I learn how to make art in a new way!

Obviously I will NOT be participating in Open Studios this year....not sure when I will get back on that wagon...it takes a lot of work and a lot of preparation to participate but I have enjoyed it every year that I have done it. I feel like there are other things out there for me to explore regarding the Greenville art scene and will keep you posted once I find them.

Latest Collaboration with Jamie Rowe-Rischitelli!

2013-04-19T13:28:00.000-07:00

Some time ago I met an artist at the Art-O-Mat Swap meet and since then have exchanged some canvases to collaborate on. Jamie started it off by painting on three canvases and then passed them on to me. I then painted, drew with Prismacolor pencils and then collaged and acrylic painted, to then return to Jamie. I assume that we will continue this for a few more times back and forth as I feel they are only halfway finished at this point. I can't wait to see what Jamie does!

I forgot to take pictures when I first got them, I'm hoping Jamie did that :)

Jamie Rowe-Rischitelli - Check out her facebook page for some really cool art! I have two on my walls at home and absolutely love them!!!!

A much needed UPDATE!

2013-04-16T07:27:00.000-07:00

I have so much to share and I haven’t shared anything! Sorry, I’ve been a little bit preoccupied and well, lazy.

At any rate, some of you may already know that our family is having another baby! I know! It’s hard to believe that we have conceived again since we have waited so long to start a family, but, it happened! Guess that puts a true meaning to the saying, “things happen for a reason!” The family is very excited, especially Clarissa, our first born. At 31/2 she will be a BIG sister! The baby is due July 31, 2013 and we will not be finding out what the sex is for the ultimate surprise!!!!! We didn’t find out what Clarissa was either and I remember how dumbfounded we both were and just utterly amazed at what had just happened when she was born. So, with that said, the nursery will be neutral which goes along with the decor of the house anyway.

So many people have asked me, “Where will the baby’s room be in your house?” Well, it will be downstairs in the spare bedroom and once the baby is sleeping through the night pretty comfortably, we will be moving Clarissa downstairs as well. Moving Scott’s music room upstairs into what is now Clarissa’s room. We thought it would be nice to put all babies downstairs and all adults upstairs. That way, all toys can stay downstairs as well, making it somewhat easier to keep the house straight...yeah right!

With baby on the way I have decided that I will not be participating in Open Studios this year because of the lack of concentration I suffer from now, and then once the new baby gets here, I will, needless to say, have my hands full. Not to mention, to answer another question of others, I will be going back to work and...yes, I will be nursing as long as I can stand to pump at work with my office right beside my boss!

I can’t believe I am half way there already! Scott and I just got back from a business trip that we used as our babymoon. It was a cruise on the Celebrity Constellation Cruise Ship. We so much enjoyed the time together lounging, laughing, watching tv, eating, enjoying the warm sun, eating, and conversing with friends, exploring Key West and a little glimpse of Cozemel Mexico. I was a little bit nervous about going into Mexico pregnant so we stayed close to the boat that day! But, with all of that said, we missed our Clarissa so much and were very glad to get back to Greenville!!!!

We have another trip planned soon to the coast! Clarissa is really looking forward to that trip as well as me and Scott since the beach is just about all of our favorite place to visit! I was accepted into the SC State Park’s Artist in Residence this year and will be completing that assignment as well as vacationing when we go to Givhans Ferry State Park (http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/givhansferry/introduction.aspx).

At any rate, I will try not to be so distant in the months to come and share how my belly is growing! I am looking forward to opening a new chapter in our lives! Good times ahead of us for sure!!!!

Belly shots to come, I'm kinda weird about take pictures of myself...

At any rate I will also share with you a recent post on facebook:

My newest paint project, focusing on children's characters illustration style. This piece is only 12"x12" created for the MAC show coming up during Artisphere 2013. But, I have plans to recreate, along with other designs, in a much larger format. I can't wait to see this particular one in a 48"x48" or larger for Clarissa's new room! It's mixed: Prismacolor pencil, pencil, Sharpie markers, acrylic paint and charcoal with a shiny protective coat $100.00.

Like I said, there's much more to come, belly shots and all so stay tuned!

Long time no see!

2013-01-04T08:31:00.000-08:00

It's been a long time since I posted...sorry for that. I needed a break, so I took one! My family and I had a wonderful relaxing Christmas and New Year celebration at home. Neana, one of Clarissa's grandmothers had much needed knee surgery over the holidays, but other than that, all was great.

Some time has passed, enabling me to get my thoughts together and think about projects I have going on and projects I would like to accomplish in the new year, 2013.

This year I have recently been accepted to participate in the South Carolina State Parks Artist in Residence. I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in this great opportunity, giving me a subject for my body of work this year! My family and I will be given a week stay at the Givhans Ferry State Park in one of their lovely cabins for free and in return I will produce for them a piece of artwork representing the park after our stay.

Another exciting event going on this year is the fact that we have Farmer Jason performing at Clarissa's #3 birthday party! I'm not sure who is more excited about this, us, the parents or Clarissa!?!

In the Spring Scott and I will be going on a cruise, first time for me, to the Caribbean! The Western Caribbean to be exact on the Celebrity Constellation! I've never been on a cruise so I'm a little bit nervous. I like being on the ocean and have done so many times on a boat that went out so far that we could no longer see land and I survived! So wish me luck on this one!

I'm not sure yet if I will be participating in this years Open Studios. Since I started, I have participated every other year and that seems to work for me, giving me a break in between to rethink, redo and not do! Thanks to all this past year for a much successful Open Studios!

Other than these few things going on this year, we plan to take it easy, get some projects completed inside and outside the house, eat better, exercise and have lots of fun!

More news to come, so stay tuned!

Finally, I made some time for a weekend update!

2012-10-29T08:30:00.000-07:00

It's been some time since I have posted about the weekend. Sorry, been a little bit busy getting ready for Open Studios, which, by the way, is this coming weekend...Nov. 2-4! A post soon about that. At any rate, between getting ready for Open Studios, The Ragged Orchids CD release, work, Halloween and life in general, we've been a little busy around the Hart house!

If anyone needs a last minute pumpkin, this patch is at the Aldersgate Methodist Church on Edwards Road.

Silly girl!

"No daddy, let's get this one!"

This was her scarecrow friend!

We had a great afternoon of picking out pumpkins. We ended up walking away with one big one and three small ones. Clarissa had a great time running around the little patch.

We finally had the chance to go pumpkin hunting! Thankfully there's a pumpkin patch right down the road from us so it's easy to shoot down on a sunny afternoon and pick one out without having to travel too far. Although I keep saying every year that I want to go to a real pumpkin patch, some day I guess.

This past Friday night was the opening show at MAC for Open Studios. We always go but don't stay long because there are so many people there you can't move or even see the work. This year it was crowded as usual but because the weather was so awesome, everyone was hanging outside. So, you could see the work. What a nice show, all pieces are 12"x12" and each person that is in Open Studios this year has a piece in the show, so there were 140 pieces of art there to see! Great work to be seen!

After the art show we headed out to Tito's for pizza!

Saturday night we went to the 6th annual Grogan Halloween party and dinner. We always have a great time and so does Clarissa! She played her heart out that night, but not until we convinced little Jake to take his scary mask off. Until then Clarissa was clinging to me and Scott so hard that I couldn't even get a good picture of her unicorn costume she came dressed in! Once she got started playing she didn't want to wear it but here you can see, that really didn't matter to her!

Clarissa and Claire swinging together. In their band, Clarrisa plays drums and Claire plays guitar!

The neighbors had chickens, so we visited over there for a little chicken feeding.

We finally got around to cutting the pumpkin. We did the old faithful design to make it easy this year.

Like I said earlier, we've been so busy with getting projects started and finished that it's been a little bit difficult to post, but hopefully after Open Studios, life will get somewhat back to normal! Although I don't see that happening with a trip to Las Vegas, Thanksgiving and then Christmas right around the corner! Then starts the new year!

Fun with Pnut!....weekend update...

2012-10-01T09:00:00.000-07:00

The Ragged Orchids CD Release Party was a HIT!

Never a dull moment! Clarissa is so entertaining, we are so blessed to have been able to have her at such a ripe old age!
