I love lilies! I have calla lilies, commander-in-chief lilies, and stargazer lilies in my garden. On Monday, my first stargazer lily bloomed. Isn't it beautiful?

So today I'm working on quite a few things. My brother's girlfriend, Jeanette, is graduating on Friday. She wanted me to make her a couple of things.

I'm turning this over-sized dress into a cute summer scarf. She wanted a scarf, and she also wants a bib necklace. I haven't started on either yet, whoops! I guess I better bust a move huh?

This is a pillow that I've been in process of making for my Dad since last Father's Day last year. Then I wanted to finish it for Christmas, and now I'm getting it done for Father's Day this year. It's going to say "Oh deer" and has the deer head there. I just have to make the pillow case, which is easy peasy. Sewing the letters and deer on will be a bit more time consuming.

Seashell Shadow Box {Tutorial} Target Knockoff

I was shopping at my local Target and seen this cute seashell shadow box.

Being the crafty person that I am, I decided to save my $20, and make my own. So know I'm going to show you how to make your own.

This is an easy peasy craft project. The only thing that takes the longest is arranging the seashells how you want them.

What you need:

A shadow box of your size. I chose a white 12x12 from Michaels that I got on sale & with a coupon!

Burlap

Seashells

Glue gun

Scissors

Step 1. I forgot to take a picture but you need to take your shadow box apart. You want the backing. Mine was black and some type of velvet material.

Step 2. Measure your burlap roughly. I put the burlap over the backing and cut around leaving a little bit of room

See it's not perfect, but it doesn't have to be.

Step 3. Put some hot glue on the backing and push down to get the burlap to stay put. Make sure you go around the edges and add glue where needed. If you don't do this, the end result won't look great.

Step 4. Get all of those seashells ready. If you're like me, you have a ton that you want to use.

Step 5. Use the that little frame part that goes between the glass and backing as a border. You want to make sure that your seashells are going to fit right. Arrange and rearrange your seashells how you want them.

Step 6. When you finally decide on an arrangement, hot glue those babies to the burlap.

Step 7. Trim any extra burlap from the edges, and then put your shadow box back together.

Step 8. Put your new work of art some place that you love, and enjoy!

This is one of my very favorite Bible verses. I say it quite often actually, when my anxiety gets the best of me. I did something different this time and made a couple different versions. Let me know which one you like, or if there's a different color palette that you want to see in the future. Also I'm always up for suggestions on the Bible verses as well.

Kindergarten Registration, Will I survive?

So Tuesday was a bittersweet day for me. I got up knowing full well that it was going to be a difficult day for me. It was the day that I would register my baby for Kindergarten. I prayed a lot and recited Isiah 41:10 a million times. As much as I know that this is the next chapter of our lives, and that God knows best, it's still hard to close one chapter.

Here's what my baby used to look like. It was a couple of months before his 1st birthday. Sometimes I wish he was just this little again. How I miss those days.

Here he is walking up to school. He's so excited to get signed up for school. I on the other hand was a ball of nerves, of course he didn't know that.

He was really good the whole time I was filling out the paper work. It took a little less than an hour to complete. I didn't let him take in his DS, so instead he drew in my planner. He loved the "clues" that were all over the sidewalk out front. The "clues" are dog paws. The school mascot is a Husky, which is adorable. I got done with all the paper work, and the lady in charge of registration gave me some paperwork. She told me about the Meet the Teacher day, volunteer options, and the website to see the calendar.

He is officially registered for Kindergarten, and will start in August. I will be fine. My Dad called after I got home. I told him where I'd been, and he asked why I sounded so depressed. I said because I kind of am. He assured me that I should do what I planned, which is volunteering to get involved. He also told me that we would be fine, and that if I didn't like after awhile that I could always home-school Nick.

After a few tears, prayers, and talking to my Dad I decided that we would be fine. I'm going to volunteer at Nick's school, enjoy this new chapter of our lives, and trust God. He knows what's best for us.

My next challenge is finding a good backpack. My son is 3'9.5" and will probably be close to 4' before school. He's always been a tall boy, so those little Kindergarten backpacks won't cut it. A regular size one would fit him better, but I want one that's going to last for awhile. Anyone have a suggestions?

April Birchbox Review

This is my first official Birchbox, and I'm so excited by it. I love the presentation of the box itself. If any of you don't know what Birchbox is, let me tell you about it. It's a monthly subscription service which is $10.00 a month where you get sent 5-6 high-end samples each month. First you take a little survey so they can find out more about your skin, make up likes and dislikes so they know what to send you. If I like any of the samples, then I can buy them. If I don't like them, then no big deal.

So here's what I got and my thoughts on each product. I know it's close to when the next box comes, but I like to have plenty of time to try things out.

Nexxus® Youth Renewal™ Rejuvenating Elixir: It has a nice smell, but I didn't notice any difference to my hair. I think I'll stick with my biotin to help my hair grow better, and to save myself some money.

Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-on: This by far is my favorite product that I received. I've been wondering about these products for awhile, but I didn't want to spend the money if it broke me out. I have super sensitive skin. This works wonders! It's great if you leave it in the fridge, or pop it in the freezer real quick. You can find it at your local drug store.

Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream: It smells great and doesn't leave any shaving bumps, as it claims that it doesn't. It doesn't take as much to shave with either.

Caudalie Divine Oil: You can use it for your skin, hair, and cuticles. It's supposed to be like the argan and maracuja oils. I have argan oil and really the results are about the same. It has a nice smell to it. I don't think I'd buy it, just because I'm interested in other oils.

Ruby Wing Color Changing Nail Polish: Honestly I was pretty excited to see this product. I ended up being extremely disappointed with it though. It takes at least 4 coats to get the right look, it clumps up by drying to fast when you're trying to paint, and it's very matte. It doesn't say anything being a speed dry, and I mean it's drying as you're putting it on. Most nail polish has some sort of shine to it, unless you buy a matte polish, but this has none. I did like that it changes colors in the sun, but that was the only good thing. I wouldn't buy again.

I also received a subscription to Women's Heath Magazine for a year. It had an option to send back for a refund if you didn't want it.

Overall I liked my first Birchbox. I can't wait to see what's in May's box!

I don't know if you can have too many cookbooks. I don't think that I can. My two favorites are my BHG Cook Book from like the 70's [I do believe], and my German cookbook that's standing up right next to it. My Mammal McIntosh had given my Dad an exact same BHG Cook Book a long time ago. It was always my favorite when I lived with my parents, and I use to borrow it from Dad before I got mine. For Christmas a couple years ago, Mammal McIntosh found another one and gave it to me. That was probably the best Christmas present that I got that year. My German cook book is one I bought for myself. I got it at a German cafe/market in Indianapolis, Indiana when I lived up there. I love it because they have the old German recipes written in English and with the American measurements. There's also quotes at the bottom of each page in English and German, and there's stories about the author along with German traditions.

Can anyone spot the Julia Child cookbook? Oh, and do you see the cute nesting doll? That's actually a measuring cup set that my dad got me for Christmas this year. It starts at a cup and goes all the way down to a pinch.

So much for the wordless part of Wordless Wednesday lol!

Why is it so hard?

It's been awhile since I actually wrote a post, and I haven't been as active lately. I had a lot of things happen that pulled me away from blog land. Every time I think about writing an actual post, I get discouraged. I start thinking that everyone has given up on this blog, and that it won't be good enough. I'm sure I'm not the only person who doubts their self. Then one of my friends, Trisha, sent out an email to a group of us. She gave me the encouragement that I needed. Suddenly, I realized that I wasn't alone. That sometimes we all get down, doubt ourselves, and feel like we're at the bottom. Then, something happens that changes your mind.

So I'm back, full force. I'm finding more time to do crafts. I am also trying to balance everything, so that I have time for everything. Right now I'm spending a lot of time gardening. I'll have a garden update for y'all soon. Also, I'll have some outdoor projects to share with y'all very soon as well.

My son will be starting school this year, Kindergarten, and that in itself will be a big change. I'm not quite sure yet if I'll have more time or less. Anyone care to share their experience with that?

If feels good to finally write this and know that I'm back. The hard part is over, and know I feel comfortable again. So have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday!

Ten on Tuesday

Sorry I've been away. My Mom had a stroke on the 3rd of this month, and was in the hospital for 5 days. Afterwards, they moved into a new house. That took another 5 days to completely finish. I've finally got some time to blog.

So here is my Ten on Tuesday. It's a random collection of things I'm loving right now.

1. World Vision- There are so many children who need sponsored. They are hungry and need clothed, not to mention schooling. Plus, you maintain a relationship with them. You write them, and they write back. I'll show y'all in another post about our child.

2. Isaiah 41:10, I have this written on a post it note which sticks to my bathroom mirror. I found this beautiful artwork here.

3. How I Met Your Mother. Love this show! If you need a good laugh, this is your show. I highly recommend the Slap Bet episode.

4. Gardening. This is a picture of my sweet mint, I'll have a updated picture soon of my updated garden. I also have some new seeds, and some on the way. I love it!

5. Just Dance 4. I love the Just Sweat mode. I've lost 7 lbs so far doing the workouts. I usually do the +45 Space Aerobics. It's a lot of fun, and it works!

6. Beth Moore's Bible Study on the book of Daniel. I'm doing it right now at church, and I love it. It's really eye opening as to the society we live in today. It's about Babylonia and how it corresponds to our society.

7. Gossip benches. I love this re-do and want one of my own to re-do. This lovely bench was re-done by the talented Jessica @ Paint in my Hair.

8. These tutorials/patterns for Maxi dresses. I love Maxi dresses, they're modest and fun. Once I get my table set back up, I can really get into sewing. I found these Feathers Flights.

9. Playing with my son. He's 4, and he's hilarious. I'm about to get off of here and go play with him actually.

10. Getting things done. I'm in the process of a million things. Nothing beats getting one of those things done. A sense of accomplishment is awesome.

I love gardening. I look forward to it each spring. Since my spring comes a little bit earlier than others, I get a head start. So here's what I have so far.

I only use organic for gardening.

My 72 cell starting greenhouse.

I finally got all the soil in it.

All of the seeds are planted. We have spinach, arugula, sweet bell peppers, pumpkin, watermelon, carrots, & spearmint.

My tomato seeds planted. I have 4 different types here.

I reused spinach containers to start plants. This is a mix of herbs.

Canterbury Bells.

Gardening, Rescue Bots, & More!

Crazy title right? Well this is going to be a fun filled post. I've had a busy week, and fell behind on my daily blog post that I was doing. I think I'll try to catch up and finish out the month.

Let's start with gardening. I love gardening! Do you garden? Well let me show what I have so far to start my garden.

I love Lilies! I have star gazer's, so I thought these would go great!

Spinach for a yummy salad, and a little carrot greenhouse for Nick.

Cherry Sweet Baby, Beefmaster, Orange Cherry Babysugar, & Better Boy tomatoes.

The only thing I've started so far are the Lilies. I ran out of soil, and have to wait until the end of the week to get more. Nick & I are going to start his carrot greenhouse today. He loves growing seeds and seeing the process. He gets so excited when they sprout, and so do I lol! I have other seeds from last year, mainly flowers that I'll be growing as well. I'm also going to be buying some organic spinach, bell peppers [red, yellow, orange], tomatoes. I'm also going to get some hydrangea seeds. I just love the fragrance and look of the flowers! I'm hopeful that my tomatoes will grow, it's harder to grow them in Texas. It usually takes a year of saving the seeds and then planting them next season. In doing so, they become more tolerant to the heat. My dad had to do this last year. What do you grow? I love hearing about other people's gardens. I promise to keep y'all updated as my garden grows.

Nick and I have been having so much fun lately, and I started using my Instagram again. Once they decided to not sell everyone's photos. I mean, I wouldn't want anyone taking photos of my son, and selling them ya know? So, if you want to follow me on Instagram, I'm coffeenkisses.

This was yesterday. He told me the Xbox was being ridiculous!

The other night, asleep in Momma & Daddy's bed. Daddy wore him out before he left for work.

The first three photos are from today. Nick and I spent about an hour in his room playing, while kind of watching his new Franklin DVD. We had a blast! It's days like today when I know why I love being a stay at home mom. It's great to play with toys and watch the expressions of Nick, and just take it all in. I think with him starting school this coming school year, that I'm trying to enjoy our time even more. It's going to be a big change, and I'm not ready for it.

You know those days when you're so stressed out and you just need some way to relieve the stress? Well what do you do to relieve it? I have a couple of different things that I like to do, but the one thing that seems to always work is video games. First person shooter games or FPS games, always do the trick. There's just something about it. Especially if you play with a group of friends, and get on ventrillo or teamspeak. Then y'all can team up and really have some fun. There's so many to choose from and Far Cry 3[Amazon's Deal of the Day], looks like a great one to pick. My husband and I actually met online while playing a FPS game, sounds crazy I know, but it's the God honest truth. My husband, dad, baby brother, and I are all huge fans of FPS games. I am personally super excited to try Far Cry 3.

The game is based on an island. There's lush jungles, sandy beaches, and mountain ranges to explore. You can travel by land, sea or air. There's hang gliders, boats, jeeps, ATV's, and trucks to explore with. You will find lost Japanese bunkers, ancient temples, secluded caves, shipwrecks, abandoned compounds, and more. The game is filled with over 20 species of exotic animals. There's komodo dragons, sharks, stingrays, tigers, and beautiful birds. You can also earn money in the game. You can play poker, race cars, compete in shooting challenges, and knife throwing challenges.

There's also a cast of unforgettable characters. There's Hoyt, Vaas, Citra, and Dennis. They are a disturbed group of characters who take you to the dark side of humanity. It's a deep and emotional story written by Writers Guild Award winner.

Our future environment

What is your biggest concern about the future of the environment?

I'm getting back on track with the NaBloPoMo. I missed a couple days last week, life got busy. So my biggest concern with the future of our environment is waste management. More like, lack of waste management. Imagine if this is all you seen.

Sad right? I think so too. If we don't reduce, reuse, and recycle.. this could be what our future generation is let with. Y'all know I love crafting, and one of the things that I love about it is reusing or re-purposing items. It great to make something new out of something old, or something that isn't being used anymore. I also save my plastic spinach containers to use for starting seeds. Our neighborhood has had a recycling service for a year. Every Saturday morning the recycling company comes through before the trash man. We get a red bin for our recyclables. I have designated bags in the kitchen for recyclables. Those bags get emptied into the recycling bin every Friday night, and it gets put out along side the trash can.
