Sony Ericsson has presented today in London, several new models of their mobile phones from the Walkman line, between those who have the more modest (though not go unnoticed) called W302.

This mobile is intended for those who are looking to spend little, but gain much… because although the company has given a low profile, its characteristics do not indicate the same.

Let's see more of Sony Ericsson W302:

Agis, BNS and Toshiba Form Partnership to Launch a Broadcast Mobile TV Service in Indonesia

Indonesia's leading electronics company PT Agis Tbk, IPTV and mobile TV systems integrator BNS and mobile TV pioneer Toshiba have announced a partnership to jointly build a broadcast-based, nationwide mobile TV network in Indonesia.

Operated by Agis, the service will be the first DMB based Mobile TV service outside Japan and Korea, where the technology was pioneered and successfully launched in 2004 and 2005 respectively.

Invented by Toshiba in 1996, DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) is an ITU adopted standard and the most mature mobile TV technology available today with over 2 million subscribers and extensive handset and device support.

Unlike cellular based 3G streaming, DMB does not require extensive telco infrastructure and can scale as easily as a TV broadcast. And unlike other mobile TV technologies based on precious UHF frequencies, DMB can be operated on many nationwide or region-wide frequencies currently vacant and assigned by the ITU for DMB. This means DMB can cover Indonesia's over 200 regions with one frequency, allowing subscribers to watch the same programs anywhere in the country, and in the future, throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The Simpsons have been around long enough that they could slap their name on just about anything and it’d end up selling to several of their faithful fans. Well now they’re getting into technology and selling custom engraved iPods.

Granted, they will quite obviously cost a little extra, but this limited edition set is definitely worth a look. They are selling a few different styles that are engraved onto different sizes of iPods.

Each one can also be customized to add your name or whatever else you might want, which is obviously going to cost even more extra. These are limited edition though so you’ll have to move fast, there are only 2000 of each.

New Nokia Supernova: 7210, 7310, 7510 and 7610

Nokia updates some old terminals giving them the suffix Supernova, the new models are the Nokia 7210, 7310, 7510 and 7610.

I did not think that these terminals still exist, but was misinformed, includes the Xpress-On system that allows change the casing to the one that you like yourself and you buy apart, of course. In general are very basic, in a new medium-low range of Nokia.

Nokia 7210 Supernova. Telephone "chic", thin and with good design within its means, basically the only thing remarkable is that it has a 2-megapixel camera, taking into account which will cost 120 euros, hopefully not much.

Nokia 7310 Supernova. A candybar phone with interchangeable covers, very simple, 2-megapixel camera, FM radio with RDS, MP3 player and TV output. Will cost 155 euros and availability in the second quarter of the year (probably for August).

Nokia 7510 Supernova. Terminal clamshell or shell, with a 2.2-inch QVGA screen, 2 megapixel camera, microSD card slot with a 512MB included in the phone. Includes all its models as MP3 player and FM radio. Available in the last quarter of the year by about 180 euros.

Nokia 7610 Supernova. It is a GSM phone with sliding keyboard and 3.2 megapixel camera with flash based on its two LEDs and a digital zoom, 8 increases. MP3 player and FM radio, will be available in the last quarter of the year for 225 euros.

Canon introduced a mouse calculator keypad

Canon will start selling a new device that triples as a computer mouse, a calculator, and a numeric key pad starting late July. The LT-100TKM will be available in black or white for $32.

When folded, the battery-powered device can be used as an optical mouse (1,000 dpi). When you open it, the LT-100KTM turns into a 10-key numeric keypad. It can also be used as a stand-alone pocket calculator.

Canon says they expect to sell 15,000 units of the Japan-only device in one year.

Amazon Kindle eBook Reader May Need Redesigning To Catch On

The Amazon Kindle, Amazon's foray into hand held e-book reading devices, was released in November. The reader splashed onto the scene with a cover photo on Newsweek and Amazon hoped the Kindle would do for digital-reading-on-the-go what the ipod did for digital music. That is, make it a viable concept and business, replete with enthusiastic users.

However, there's not a whole lot of evangelizing going on around the Kindle.

Some people appreciate the palm-sized smallness of the Kindle, while others deride its small keyboard and awkwardly designed casing. The opinions are mixed and there are plenty of them.

Once you have the Kindle, you can visit Amazon's e-book store, where you can purchase brand new books for $9.99, which is a discount from what new hardcovers generally cost. Even though in this proposition you don't end up owning a tangible tree-made book, you get to enjoy the reading of it. But that brings up a principal issue for e-book readers.

Do people want to read books the same way they read blogs and news stories, via a computer screen? A lot of the issues that people have had with the Kindle--that's it's ugly, that the black and white screen isn't up to par, that the keyboard and scroll wheel aren't that well designed, and that it's too expensive--may stem from the fact that reading books on the Kindle e-book reader is not the same as reading a paper-bound book. The experience is not the same.

You get the information, but part of the joy is stripped from the experience. Another issue is that we expect a lot out of our hand held devices these days. The iphone has set a new standard--and that's a phone.

An e-book reader should have a high degree of interactivity with other Kindle owners that are friends. It should look as advanced and appealing as an iphone. It should be able to do most of what a high-tech cell phone can do in addition to the e-book reading functionality. It seems like it does too little if you can't use it to access maps, the yellow pages, and search engines. For $399, it should do some of these things. At the very least, you should be able to do Internet searches.

Computers have become so intertwined in our work and personal lives, that it seems logical that an e-book reader would be the next step. And maybe it is. But it shouldn't just be an e-book reader. It should be an e-book reader and a cell phone. I think the Kindle's designers misread the psychology of an e-book reader.

It's not bibliophiles who will be using this thing. It's the geek who wants his hand-held device to do more for him than he expects, and that he can wow his friends who don't have one.

Surprisingly or unsurprisingly, the Amazon Kindle is sold out. Or at least that's what it says on Amazon.

The Kindle makes sense on paper. But that's the problem.

CDMA vs. GSM Cell Phones

If you are in the market for a new cellular carrier and mobile phone it is important that you are an informed consumer and know the differences between the two primary cellular technologies available, CDMA and GSM technologies.

What Is CDMA

CDMA is an acronym for Code Division Multiple Access; it is a digital technology that uses what is known as “spread spectrum techniques.” This means that the transmitted signal frequency varies deliberately. Allowing the signal to vary gives an output of more bandwidth than would be allowed if the frequency was not varied. CDMA has long been the standard used in the USA and has been known for its ability to provide better voice and data services than other cellular technologies on the market. Verizon and Sprint use CDMA technology.

What Is GSM

GSM is the acronym for Global System for Mobile communications; it is a digital technology that assigns a fixed frequency every user on their network. GSM is the current standard in most of Europe, Asia, and has made rapid strides in gaining market share in the USA. GSM mobile phones use SIM card technology. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM technology.

SIM and R-UIM

A SIM card is a small removable smart card that allows users to easily switch between handsets while retaining their personal contact information and address books. The SIM card is tied to the carrier’s network and can be moved without intervention from the carrier. Activating a new phone on a GSM network is as easy as putting an activate SIM card into it. GSM phones with a removed SIM card can later be used again as soon as a SIM card is placed into it.

CDMA phones are not card-enabled; this means that the cell phone used on the CDMA networks can only be used on those networks. The phone itself is tied to the carrier’s network; you cannot switch to a new CDMA phone without first talking to your carrier and having them deactivate your old phone and then activating your new phone on their network. Once the old phone has been deactivated it then becomes useless.

The CDMA equivalent to a SIM card is called an R-UIM card; Removable User Identity Module. The R-UIM card is not yet available in the US market, currently only being available in parts of Europe and Asia.

Travel

You will find that both GSM and CDMA networks have good coverage in major metropolitan areas. When you find yourself roaming outside of your usual area you may find yourself without adequate coverage if you are on a CDMA network, especially if you enter into a more rural area. GSM carriers have contracts with other GSM carriers that will allow them to have better roaming coverage, even in rural areas. If you are going to travel internationally with a GSM carrier you will most likely have no problem getting a signal from an international carrier. Most carriers in international markets are GSM networks. You will need to check with your chosen carrier about the domestic and international roaming plans they can offer you.

TDMA

TDMA, or Time Division Multiple Access, is mostly in use in the Americas (North and South) and some parts of Asia. TDMA is not popular in widespread usage because of its lack of flexibility as it compares to the other two digital cellular technologies. Current cellular providers that are still using TDMA technology are predicted to switch over to the more popular and more flexible GSM technology.

I tend to chuckle a little when I see a new iPod accessory, because there is such an overabundance of all different types of them. Any new one that comes out really has to do something different to stand out from the rest. Some prefer to do so with extremely high quality sound and others decide to go for a design that just looks a bit different from the rest. This Rotating Alarm Clock works for all those with the fancy new iPod Touch or iPhone. However, don’t worry, the alarm clock allows for you to plug in other devices as well, it just won’t sit on the dock like the iPod Touch does.

The Lenovo Ideapad U8 reportedly features a 4.8-inch touchscreen, an optical mouse "for one-handed operation", EDGE/3G support, "Live GPS", "and writing recognition, and support for MS Office applications." Video after the break.

We're guessing it'll also make a phone call or two with that 12-key numeric pad. And with Intel calling this a MID, don't expect to see a Microsoft OS riding that Atom, this pup's looking Linux to the bone.

Concept Computer "CANVAS" by Kyle Cherry

"Canvas" is the name of this concept laptop computer which was designed by Kyle Cherry. It is designed specifically for designers or artists. The Canvas appears to be about A3 in size and features a navigator which is a 4 way controller to scroll around images, a side bar which contains all the tools bars needed which keeps the main main workspace completely clear, a touch pad which works in a similar way to a Wacom and other handy controls which a designer might need.

The concept idea of the Canvas is to allow users with little or no experience to make a switch from traditional to digital workflows. It will accomplish this by using a familiar interface.

A touch sensitive keyboard is included under the screen which can slide back and tilt upwards. Along with the keyboard is your regular touch pad for working with it as a normal laptop. When I say normal, the design is far more sleek looking then most other laptops.

With the Canvas being concept there is no release date and no information regarding any potential release dates. For now, just take a look over these sleek looking renders.

Philip and Swarovski Offer Glittering USB Flash Drive

When Philips and Swarovski announced a partnership back in March, they proclaimed a goal of producing "a range of new and unique products that will take technology to a new, fashionable level for women." Their intent was for this collaboration to build on the unique knowledge of each of the companies, leading to a large variety of products that emphasize both form and function. The final results would cater to upper-class women who needed useful products but remained fashion-conscious at the same time.

The first products to be announced were a line of accessories for cellular phones known by the Active Crystals brand name. They featured items that were designed to look more like jewelry than the standard mobile phone headsets, which tend to be made with plastic and rubber pieces in a neutral color, with the occasional addition of metallic accents.

Now, the companies have announced a new set of additions to their Active Crystals lineup: USB flash drives. Each of the four models is trimmed in silver and prominently features a multitude of glimmering Swarovski crystals. The Heart Ware and Heart Beat models feature heart-shaped pendants which open to reveal the USB connector. One half of the heart is silver, while the other half is covered in crystal. A cord is included to wear around your neck, but adding a silver necklace in its place would probably add favorably to the look. The Lock In and Lock Out models are designed to be attached to a keychain and are constructed as one piece accordingly.

All four of the models are expected to ship with 1GB of storage and feature built-in password protection. So, even if your drive is stolen, the thieves won't have access to the potentially more valuable information contained inside these gems.

Note:
Format phone restores phone to as if it was out of the box. Retains firmware version and operator Variant changes but wipes all applications you have installed. Does not format the memory card so any apps on there may reinstall once powered back up again.
Another way to format some symbian phones: Power off phone. Press and hold Green, * and 3 and keep them held whilst powering on and for a few seconds after.
