Jun Sheng Chang, sponsor terdahulu dari CommeDieu kembali merekrut team DotA dibawah manajemennya, tetapi kali ini bukanlah hanya team yang berada di lingkup DotA Asia, melainkan bintang-bintang dari team Blight.int. Dia menamakan teamnya sebagai Nirvana.int.

Sebelumnya kita mengetahui bahwa sponsor dari team CommeDieu di SMM Grand Finals 2009 dengan senang hati menerima ide dari Jimmy 'Demon' Ho's untuuk menjadi sponsor baru dari team beranggotakan 6 orang sejak kontrak terakhir mereka ditinggalkan begitu saja tanpa ditandatangani. Akhirnya keputusan ini terwujud melalui ekspetasi baru dalam team DotA terkemuka, Blight.int dan mengganti namanya menjadi Nirvana.int.

Another New team: Reality.DotA

Last Wednesday, Fragster announced that a new team was formed. The name of the moment is Reality.DotA and it comes with a strong line-up formed by European players. They are:

Amel 'PlaymatE' Barudzija
Erik 'zoN-' Falk
Tim 'XoYnoZnU' Lundell Johansson
Misha 'UnPapayaCoconut' Kisch

As you know, some of these players were out of the DotA scene for a while. zoN, for example, was from SK-Gaming long time ago, while PlaymatE was without a team for some time after MYM finished. But everyone knows their strength, what they did for their old teams and what they can do for Reality.DotA now.

Remakes League - Know about it

Most of you don't know what is Remakes, who are Felipe and Karina, but the Brazilians know them very well. Now it's time that everyone gets to know about them too and why they are important for Brazilian DotA scene.

In an interview with Felipe, also known as rdw, he talked about subjects like Remakes and his opinion on the Brazilian DotA scene. It became a little longer, but really interesting. You can read it here or here

First of all, Remakes is a league where most of the high-skilled Brazilian players meet each others for matches. The games are controlled by a bot created by rdw and everything is monitored by his staff. By the way, they are Shivas, Slayer, Noctune, Bitta, Cesarmanara, Squallus and many others.

Before entering in this league, you have to do a gametest. If you proof you are good enough, you receive a vouch for entering Remakes Safe Room, where you can habituate yourself with the system. Then, you have the Remakes League Room, where you can find high potential players, and these players are chosen by gametests too. Finally, you have Remakes Invite Room, where the most skilled players are, the only way to be there is to be good enough to deserve being invited. After all, there are prizes for the best players, these prizes are Premium/gold members on Garena, mouse pads and head phones.

When asked about the Brazilian players' ability, rdw says "actually we have players like Polar and Frango who are equal to the international TOP teams". He also says that Remakes can help finding and forming good teams. About the play style, he says "the Brazilian game (is) more technical like the European but a bit less defensive, giving more emotion to the matches".

One of the problems raised by him was the sponsorship. Sponsors sees DotA as a hobby, and because of that, Brazilian Players have no motivation for training. And that's true: actually, there aren't any teams with good sponsors in Brazil.

Furthermore, he said how Remakes emerged, the problems found on a project like this, what is needed to Remakes be recognized worldwide and other things more. You can read the whole interview and check these informations here.

We wish the best for Remakes and its staff, and the same for all Brazilian players who want to become professional one day. The whole DotA community would appreciate a different play style, it would be a challenge to the traditional teams.

Rumours have known for some time now that a new team with Loda, Misery, Kwom and more was about to be formed. Loda and Misery both suffered under the Ravens/Kingdom merge being left without a team.

What are your expectations for this team? Are you going to beat teams like Ravens and Ks.int or what are you aiming for?
Misery: The goal with this team, is to become the best team in the world.

Sounds optimistic but of course you are all players from previous top teams. On the other hand couldn't it turn out to be a problem that you come from different teams and is used to different playstyles?
Misery: Well, we have ofc been playing alot together before forming this team and after alot of training it turned out that we work really great together, and theres a nice teamspirit on vent. But yeah, I guess in the beginning it was a bit hard to get a nice teamplay going, cause like you said, we all come from different top teams with different playstyle-roots..

So it sounds like your are a well-formed team. Are we going to see you perform at upcoming lan events like Dreamhack and The Expericence?
Misery: Yeah, we are for sure going to attend to Dreamhack summer this june. Not sure about The Experience though.

Loda is used to be leader in SK. Will he also be the leader of this new team?
Misery: In the beginning Loda will be sharing the leadership with Kwom.

You just annouced the team and obvious you dont got a sponsor yet. But are you actively looking for some sponsors or perhaps allready in contact with someone?
Misery: Hmm, only the time will tell.

Every year at BlizzCon, the goodie bag handed out to all the visitors contain all sorts of small gifts. For World of WarCraft players however, the big draw is the unique non-combat pet. This year, Blizzard is celebrating the upcoming release (when it's done) of StarCraft 2, and the pet this year is probably the coolest one yet - a little murloc in a marine outfit, guarding Azeroth from interstellar invasions from the Zerg Swam and the Burning Legion alike. As you can see from the video embedded below, it's pretty much the cutest thing ever.

BlizzCon opens its door at August 21st in Anaheim, California, and tickets go on sale May 16th.

DTS-CUP ready for action

After weeks and weeks of qualifying stage, the 16 available slots are now filled with the best of best. Once more, DTS-CUP shows everyone it deserves the status of an important event on international DotA scene. All battles set by the non-invited teams were really hard and thrilling, and the efforts were rewarded at the end to the winners.

The event is increasing it's prizes every year. DTS-CUP 2008 gave to the finalists the amount of $1000 to the first place, $600 to the second, $400 to the third and $200 to the fourth. This year, the prizes are much better: $3000 to the winner and a cup, $2000 to the second and $1000 to the third placed. Big prizes equals to big rivalry, that means players with more than enough motivation to give their best on each game, and that's what everyone wants to see.

The only thing everyone will dislike is the absence of some high-level teams. Because of different reasons, many teams denied the invitation, but it doesn't mean the tournament will have it's quality lowered: as said before, the qualifying stages were really good, maybe these will surprise the tops.

Hello both of you, I guess you are the fnaticMSI.DotA leaders. First I want you to introduce yourself a little and tell me your role on the team!

fnaticMSI.Lakuci: Well.. hi there... I'm not the leader here, but now all matches will be drafted by me! My name is Ariyanto Sony, I'm 22 years old, gentle, and good mannered haha! My role right now is anything.. =D I can play carry, support, ganker, but please not human wards. LOL

fnaticMSI.Veleno: I'm Andreas, the newest member and captain of FnaticMSI.DotA, I'm 21 years old. I decided to join FnaticMSI.DotA when Melen retired and I thought it would be great to play under the FnaticMSI tag. I can play all roles, but I get the support/warding and ganking role for now on my team.

So Lakuci you are the one responsible for drafting, do you do all the picks yourself or do you listen to your teammates?

fnaticMSI.Lakuci: We discuss first together, what heroes that we want to play, then I make the final drafting in game, I come up with the strategies more than my teammates. I watch many enemy replays.. we are 5 people, so we draft with all 5 people, its just me to take the leader about this =) I am always busy watching replays because I am the drafter lol, I have a big responsibility for this.

On average, how many replays do you think you watch a week? And how many replays does your team watch together?

fnaticMSI.Lakuci: For the team, we watch them by ourselves at home, then later we discuss replays if we meet each other in ritters house, or when we meet for training. For me, I watch 3-5 replays per day.. so in a week bout 35 replays.. hahahahaha.

Are there any replays you watch the most? Of some specific teams?

fnaticMSI.Lakuci: I just download the newest posted replay at many websites... hahaha. No specific team because I think all teams are good and I respect them.. all replays that I think is good, I download it because you can always learn something.

Fnatic is known to many for picking 'weird heroes' sometimes they are successful, and sometimes they are not but how do you come up with your strategies?

fnaticMSI.Lakuci: Hmm, actually we have so many arguments here, then we will try to prove our ideas at trainning, if we lose people will say we pick weird heroes, but if we win they will said OMG... hahahha. We have so many tactics here, but we do not try everything in training, we only discuss by speaking with each other.

Xeo Divine Multigaming; an active sponsor on the European Dota scene, are keen to welcome Xeo.fr previously known as Team Extensive[EX]!

Xeo Divine who are also supporting one of the top Nordic teams have decided to extend their support to another Dota squad, this time a local one. They stated: "Xeo Divine is a French organization, and our choice to invite a French team to join our family is a logical step in our expansion."

With this new lineup they hope to participate in the local leagues and LAN tournaments, working their way up to the international scale. Xeo believes the reason for the lack of French teams being able to compete at the highest level is the limited support and assistance offered to them. Thus they consider this as the first step towards achieving their goal; promotion of Esports and Dota in France and furthermore Europe.

As for the new Xeo.fr Team, the Roster will consist of:

IceFrog's Blog | 1.24 And Beyond

In his latest blog entry Icefrog urges the Dota community to keep their warcraft III updated with the latest patch available(currently 1.23). He also unveils another exciting feature of the all-awaited 6.60; the new shop layout.

IceFrog emphasized on the importance of the new patches. He explained: "it is important to the development of DotA for players to have the latest Blizzard patches". He highlighted that these patches are important as they provide new "security features" and "map development functionality". Furthermore he said that this problem mainly persists in the net cafes where the systems are locked to prevent new software from being installed. Therefore it is suggested that the users of these cafes make an effort and request to the managers/owners of these places for the updates.

In the build-up to the upcoming 6.60 Icefrog has yet again revealed one of the many changes that the new map will bring. Based on suggestions that he received from the community, he has decided to remake the shop layout. He acknowledges that such changes are not always welcomed by the older players but insists this is an important development which he believes will make "correctly guessing where an item is an easy task for both existing and new players alike".

Unique Esports with new DotA Squad

Unique-Esport.dota has been formed

The ugly duckling has become a swan. Donald Duck is ready as a leader of Unique-Esports new dota squad.

Recently a lot of teams have disbanded, but finally a new team is ready is ready to join the competetive scene. The multi-gaming clan Unique-Esports just picked up a dota-squad. The team is led by former Ravens player Andreas "Donald-Duck" Søgaard, who collected a bunch of danish players and one british player. Among the danish players we have StoDDeReN, who used to play from MeT before they became Ravens, and we have Valeur and Calculus, who recently left RapE.dota.

The team will consist of:

And furthermore here on GosuGamers we got an exclusive interview with player Jeppe Valeur:

First can you give us a short describsion of the team? I mean who plays what and so on?
Well, we're still figuring out our roles in the team per-say, since we have a lot of different players with alot of different strengths. As for now Donald-Duck is taking on the roles of support mostly, a role which CalculuS, Durum and StoDDereN will be helping him with, while they play their own roles as gank heroes. Ich1go, our asian wonderkid from Brittain, will he carrying our team to win most of games.

Donald is the leader ingame, since he has most experience by far, and while some still doubt his skills - you certainly cannot doubt his aptitude and knowledge of the game, and with a more relaxed and friendly environment he'll get to unfold his true potential. He is also a really mannered and good captain, and as some of our players are quite new to playing on a high-level, we are all eager to learn and Donald is eager to teach from experience, and it's working out great so far.

As mentioned you are still a new team, but Donald claimed in his official statement that you soon will be among the very best. Isn't that a bit early to say?
Well, we are expecting to be among the very best AT SOME POINT. We're realistic, and we know that we still have a long way to go, but I'd definately say that the potential is there, and we just need practice, practice and practice, so we can bond together with a team and find out how to compliment each other in the best way. There are currently only a few un-beat-ables like Ks.Int, Ravens and EG, rest of the top teams, with full respect to all, are certainly inside our shooting range.

Already we have scrimmed with several 'top' teams and have come out victorious more than once! :)

But now Pick-League is just over and EMS just started without you. So in what tournaments do you expect to particitate within the nearest future?
As a matter of fact, it fits us nicely that we have some time to practice before we're thrown into the mix, but we will of course sign up for every tournament possible - perhaps the new pick-league, ESL and so on. As the dota-scene is right now, tournaments appear and disappear at various times, so it's impossible to tell at the moment. But we will be there!

What about LAN-events? Are you planning to participate in tournaments like Dreamhack and The-Experience?
The Experience in Roskilde is probably a bit too soon and costy, for the team and sponsors. We will however, as Unique Dota garners support get to some lans, so yeah, you might see us at dreamhack (where we'll own, because we have so much lan-experience from my appartment!)

Im sure a lot of people are looking forward to that, especially the owning part :). But for now thanks for the interview and good luck with the team. Any shoutouts?
Yeah, I'd like to make a shout-out to RapE-Dota which was the team that made me want to play competitively, and for all the great times we had. Infected dota costum map

A new exploit has been circulated amongst hackers that allows for a custom map to execute arbitrary code on a client and install trojans/viruses/keyloggers outside of the warcraft III engine. So far it has targetted public dota games in particular; hackers created fake dota maps that use the same file extension/directory as DotA 6.59d, and therefore you will see the loading screen displayed in your custom game list and it is effectively impossible to take precautions against, as it has no discernible difference from joining a normal DotA game. Therefore it is highly recommend that you stop playing public dota games until blizzard can patch this exploit. They have already had it brought to their attention.'

For those who doubt how dangerous this is; by mimicing dota, anyone who has already downloaded the legitimate map will see the game displayed in the custom game screen with the proper loading image, and it finishes downloading before you switch to the game lobby screen, as it is a tiny file size. Once you enter the game, the virus will unpack itself and infect your computer, allowing malicious code to be executed at the whim of the hacker.

Don't join games of DotA hosted by people you don't know. This applies to public games, TDA, etc
The best precaution you can take at the moment if you want to continue to play DotA, is to keep your Warcraft III maps folder open, and see if any new files are downloaded when you join a game. If they are, immediately leave the game lobby, before the host can start the game (and infect you), and delete the new map file. If your computer has been infected, you should run the best antivirus software you can find, and Don't log into any accounts on your computer, warcraft III, email, etc, as there is a high probability of getting your password keylogged. If you are certain your computer is infected, the only surefire way to eliminate it is to reformat your compute

The Sendi Mutiara Multimedia Grand National DotA Tournament 2009 (SGNDT 09’), pretentiously the most prestigious DotA competition in the world is here on its fourth successive year bringing with it an even more impressive army of Dotarians into the fray. The qualifying-round for SGNDT ’09 kicks-off this 30th May 2009 and will consecutively run through 10 states in Malaysia in search for the best DotA teams to represent their country. How to apply to join the SGNDT?

Registration for SGNDT 09’ starts on the 23rd of May. The process is simple and can be completed online. Below are the following steps:

Click “Register my team”
Fill in your complete team and member details.
A confirmation email will be sent to your mail-box within 3 working days. Included will be tournament details, venue address, time, and number to contact.
Print a copy of the document and submit it on the tournament day itself.
A payment of RM 150 is to be made directly on the day of the event. Kindly refer to the state scheduling date for the exact day.

fnaticMSI lose to Ks.CN - Interview with VeLeNo

The fnaticMSI DotA team were happy to participate in the last showmatch against KingSurf and are hungry for more! This time they have contacted arguably China's strongest team; flag 7L, formerly known as CaNt. The showmatch will take place on Tuesday April 28th at 16:00 CET! UPDATE: A small interview with VeLeNo is in the full story, where he talks about the games and the opponents.
Both teams have high respect for one another but have not met on the battlefield since the SMM Grand National tournament in Malaysia which took place in November. 7L got its revenge on fnaticMSI after losing to them at MGC in China, defeating them in the playoffs at SMM.

Recently 7L has been getting a lot of attention, with many of their replays available at the Chinese dota portal, sgamer. They have been training extensively against the Russian giants Platium Sports which include players like Vigoss, NS and Smile of former VP.

This showmatch will be BO3 and all games will be streamed on GarenaTV. Good luck to both teams and stay tuned for some exciting games!

Lakuci: 7L as we know in the past as team CaNt, are a much stronger team now. UPDATE: Q&A with Andreas "VeLeNo" Lien

Hey Andreas, can you tell us what happened in the first game of the showmatch against Ks.CN?
At 1st game we tried to use the weaver to counter their beastmaster, but it didn't help much. They ganked a lot and we couldn't counter with our heroes.

What about the second game, you guys won, how did that map go?
At second game we used other strategies against them, and we won the war.

Lastly, there was some problem in the last map, you were winning the game and then something happened... can you explain the whole situation and after the re-start what happened?
On the last map, we led the game from the beginning. Then bad luck for us, they disconnected. And we had to load the game from 4 minutes. They countered us very nicely when we loaded the game. They stuck together and used a lot of push strats. So there's no replay for last game cause of load game.

Playing against Ks.CN, what are your thoughts about it, did you think it was a good match?
They are one of the best Asia team, good luck with their new sponsor Ks. It's a great match. And we apologize for our loss. We will do our best for next show match or competition.
