should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by
       dry rot.

I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me
in magnificent glow, then a sleepy and permanent planet.

Love Of My Life

2011-10-25T21:19:00.000-07:00

1. “We search for happiness everywhere, but we are like Tolstoy’s fabled beggar who spent his life sitting on a pot of gold, under him the whole time. Your treasure–your perfection–is within you already. But to claim it, you must leave the buy commotion of the mind and abandon the desires of the ego and enter into the silence of the heart.”
2. “There is so much about my fate that I cannot control, but other things do fall under the jurisdiction. I can decide how I spend my time, whom I interact with, whom I share my body and life and money and energy with. I can select what I can read and eat and study. I can choose how I’m going to regard unfortunate circumstances in my life-whether I will see them as curses or opportunities. I can choose my words and the tone of voice in which I speak to others. And most of all, I can choose my thoughts.”
3. "People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave. A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master..."
4. "I have a history of making decisions very quickly about women. I have always fallen in love fast and without measuring risks. I have a tendency not only to see the best in everyone, but to assume that everyone is emotionally capable of reaching his highest potential. I have fallen in love more times than I care to count with the highest potential of a woman, rather than with the woman herself, and I have hung on to the relationship for a long time (sometimes far too long) waiting for the woman to ascend to her own greatness. Many times in romance I have been a victim of my own optimism."
5. "Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it."
6. "In desperate love, we always invent the characters of our partners, demanding they be what we need of them, and then feeling devastated when they refuse to perform the role we created in the first place."

How Big Is Your Dream?

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for – Epicurus

Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today. Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.
Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams. The best thing about dreams is that fleeting moment, when you are between asleep and awake, when you don't know the difference between reality and fantasy, when for just that one moment you feel with your entire soul that the dream is reality, and it really happened. Dreams are like stars...you may never touch them, but if you follow them they will lead you to your destiny.

The World Is In Your Hands

Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is? ~Frank Scully

You hold the world in your hands. We may not be able to control everything that happens to us, what people say, think or do, but we can control how we react, what thoughts race around our head, and what words escape our mouths. Take control. Tomorrow isn’t good enough. Today is. People will only treat you how you let them. You’ll never know what could, should, or would happen if you don’t take a chance. Risk it all. Fear absolutely nothing. Try everything once. Twice if you like it. And never lose who you are in all the chaos surrounding you. It only affects you if you let it. When in doubt, make a fool of yourself.
There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap. Progress always involves risks. You can't steal second base and keep your foot on first.

in magnificent glow, then a sleepy and permanent planet.

What Is Leadership?

2011-10-16T10:04:00.000-07:00

When asking the question “what is leadership, and what does it mean?”, I’d have to say that leadership means that you are willing to take on responsibility and make choices for yourself. It’s not a responsibility that was thrust upon you by someone, but a responsibility that you took upon yourself because you believe that you are the best man or woman for the job. And once you make this choice or decision for yourself you automatically have no other option but to become a leader.

And another great point about leadership is that an effective leader needs to be able to create more leaders on his or her team. You want to be able to have the people following you stand up and get noticed so they in turn have other people following them while a chain of responsibility and cohesiveness forms so you create a well oiled machine.

Another trait that helps define the question “what is leadership?”, is that a leader needs to possess the ability to see certain things that others can’t.

A leader has to be a visionary because it takes someone of this magnitude to be able to shape the world in the image that they believe it needs to be changed into. One example of an incredible leader who possessed a vision further than most people could ever imagine going is Christopher Columbus. He dreamed of another world and believed it so strongly that he stood up to so much criticism and doubt that it’s surprising that he followed through with his adventure to the Americas. That’s the definition of a strong leader in my opinion. Someone who can grow a thick skin and let all of the criticisms that people had about his plans just bounce right off of him while he stayed focused on his goal and never faltered. Most people often feel like they are threatened when they think about what is leadership. They get scared when somebody stands out in the crowd and does things that are different from the norm. Because that’s what happens when you are leader. You stand out instead of blending in and that really scares people sometimes. Another excellent quality that defines what is leadership is that a leader usually has a strong opinion but they always stick to it. They do not compromise and they don’t lose focus either. It’s important to keep your head in the game when you are an effective leader, so you can’t lose focus at any time or your competitor will take advantage of you and feed off of your mishaps. You certainly don’t want that to happen when you are the captain of the ship so to speak. You have to bring your A game every day when you step up and take charge in a leadership role. There’s no room for slacking off and there’s no room for making too many mistakes.

Self Development When We are Young

When we were children self development was happening but we wouldn't necessarily have thought about it as such.
As youngsters, you more than likely had guidance from your elders to rely on, even if at times you didn't always appreciate it!

Parents that looked after you and offered guidance with the major decisions you had to make. When you were a lot younger, there were people making the decisions for you, and when you look back you probably think that life never seemed quite as complicated as it is today.

At home, you had your parents and at school there were your teachers who were taking decisions or making suggestions as to the route you ought to take, what you needed to study and so much more. So in many ways, your development was largely guided by external factors: your parents, teachers and others.

As we grow, that support system which made life seem so much simpler, loosens its grip and you start gaining full power and control over your own life.

First Steps in Self Development

Now that you are older, you are your life's master. You are responsible to yourself. Whilst you could rely on others to guide and direct your life when you were younger now you are the driver of your own path. Your success or failure will depend on you and the decisions you take in terms of what you make of your Self Development.

The first thing you should think about is what you want to achieve in your life and write down your goals. When you carry around your aspirations and dreams in your heads it is all easy to lose track of them. so write them down on paper, in a self development journal, or on your computer. Determine what it is that you want to achieve and write those goals down.

Your Self Development Strategy - Self Reflection Questions

My dreams are within reach.

I am one of the fortunate few who are deeply aware of what they want in this wonderful life. Because of this, I can see my dreams clearly, and my dreams are attainable because I say they are!
I get to choose my actions and inactions. Ultimately, I know that I am responsible for my place in life. For this reason, I choose to do everything in my power to reach my goals.

Rather than sitting back and hoping that my dreams will fall onto my lap, I am a steadfast go-getter. Even if I feel some internal inhibitions, I move toward my goals and then graciously accomplish them. Whether internal or external, I put all obstacles aside.
While I certainly am strong, I realize that I am far from being Superman. I give myself adequate time to prepare for any goal I wish to achieve. By doing so, I increase my chance of successfully completing the task.

I always say that slow and steady wins the race. If I were to try to lose weight, I can get much farther by gradually altering my diet rather than going on a crash diet. The same logic applies to most other situations in life.
Change is gradual. The small changes I make are gradually helping me move a little closer to my goal each and every day.

Today, I muster up the courage to claim what is rightfully mine! My dreams are within reach; it only makes sense to go after something that makes me happy.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Am I taking small steps each day to ensure that I reach my goal?
2. Are my loved ones serving as my support system?
3. Am I enjoying the little steps along the way, taking time to savor smaller accomplishments as I work toward the big ones?

Self development is a work in progress coupled with hard and focus.

God help you archieve yourself development.

Get Vision, Get Wisdom

2011-10-15T16:16:00.000-07:00

Vision maybe defined as the ability to see by the ordinary man. but in this contest i want to explain God's view and understanding of vision. From the bible, vision can be defined as the mental view of what the future will or could be like. It talks of a supernatural vision that only comes from God. The bible gives a comparison of vision and wisdom letting us to understand that the two are inseparable.

While wisdom is the understanding of your vision. A man that lacks wisdom has no vision and vise vassal. Show me a christian with vision and i tell you in him you shall find wisdom. The lack of vision ultimately leads to lack of direction in life which leads to frustrations and failures. A man without vision is spiritually blind. With vision God created the world in wisdom.
Wisdom understands and captures your vision and gives it ability. It incubates what you see with the eyes of the spirit and brings it to life. The bible gives a clearer understanding of this when it said "the people perish because of lack of wisdom". The people in their state of lack of wisdom lost vision. Here we know that vision can be lost or gained.
When a man lost focus of his calling in life he automatically loose his vision and becomes blind spiritually. The same thing happens to a man when he remembers his God and trace his way back to his creator God restores his vision. there are vision killers: love of money, lack of self control, love of women and other fleshly desires. God Has given to men the right of choice. We are to choose what we become in life visionary or ordinary

Hard Work Is The Secret Of Success

2011-10-15T16:04:00.000-07:00

Hard work is the ultimate tool of a man or society that aspires for success and greatness. Its importance can not be over emphasised but remains the bed rock in which any meaning full achievement stands. Great countries and cities, engineering and medical success all fall on the great foundation of hard work. Hard work gave birth to there thoughts. In other words, it gave birth to there existence.

Wishful thinking takes a man away from reality and put him in a dream world. In Africa today Nigeria in particular, is amazing what people think about hard work and success. Here people believe that success in life is not based on how much you labour. Is common to hear people say "you can not become rich by hustling" "is not about how much you labour". The idea of quick money has kept people in a queue waiting for the day of opportunity. Because they say making money is by opportunity. Of course such opportunity may never come.

These has led many to diverse problems including falling victims to fraudsters. Another example here is the emergence of BABA IJEBU (LOTTO). The lotto company is making millions from the same people that want to make millions out of it. Our younger generation believe that money to build house, buy a car and live the good life is not gotten by hard work. They believe that money from hard work is only to keep body and soul alive while they wait for the day the millions will show up. Is it not better to get cut up by opportunity while your working hard?

Wealth is the steady and slow accumulation of resources(money) over time. It those not happen over night rather it comes by a conscious effort and set out goal. Hard work and hard labour is not the same. The former is a striving to achieve a goal while the latter is an act of working to make ends meet. Take for example the man carrying two bags of cement 50kg each at a go. He is only undergoing hard labour not hard work though he might think he is working hard.

The man that labours gets tired and is worn out while the man who works hard is encouraged by his by his success and he never gets tired. Many of our young have become lazy, nobody want to work hard any more. People now see the idea of hard as old fashioned. they see it as old fashioned but the truth is that the resulting effects of hard work is passed to generations take for example your parents if they had applied the principle of hard work in their lives your life would have been a reflection of their effort. Many families are poor today because their great-grand parents never worked hard enough.

Diligence and Persistence Is The Key

2011-10-15T14:56:00.000-07:00

I will start by sharing my personal life experience and how persistence saw me through. In 2004,1st of may to be precise I was driven out of the house that i was living by the person i was staying with this leed to my not having an accomodation(roof over my head) and lost of job because the same person that drove out was my employer.
Here the task of self discovery began the chalenge was bigger and taugher in that funds was a scarce commodity to my disposal. Here i made a personal decision to succeed against the odds. first i accepted the fact that things have changed and therefore ajustment is required to survive. second adapting to the present condition was a way out of it so i started doing something out of nothing just to feed then i realised that i needed to be PERSISTENCE in what i was doing so i continued in 8 months i was able to rent an accomodation for myself 8 months later i got married and today i live happily with my wife and kids.
Proverbs 10 vs 4 said that a slack hand makes a man poor but the hand of the diligent makes rich. But what is diligent? the concise english dictionary puts it in a very simple difinitive way: careful and conscientious in one's work or duties in other words you purposefully and persistly do what you are doing continuosly over time which when measured with time equals success.
In today's world however, thing have taken a different diver with the 21st century generation opting for high speed success. persistence and diligence have found their place in the trash bins with the generation chassing the wind nobody gives thought to them anymore.
Here is an opening to them that are smart in thinking. diligence is a valuable to invest in for a life reward of suceess. start something nomater how small do it steadly over time you will be amazed how it grows that for example how a baby grows in a family,as the years go by the child mattures into a full grown adult same way that your small business can grow if you put in more effort and time. life is not what you think it is but what you make it to be.
Here the virtues of life comes as a result of being engaged with ones personal development and positive thinking so suceess is made by first setting your sight on it and moving forward in a diligent and persistence routine.

Coping With The Realities Of Life

2011-10-15T14:48:00.000-07:00

When I was a child I looked at life with great expectations, thinking life is going to be a bed of roses. In college, perfect was my dreams of what life ought to be like. I dreamt of graduating from the university with first class upper degree on engineering course. Get a job in an oil company, drive brand new cars, live in a well built and furnished house, get married to a beautiful woman of my dream and have smart kids. I had dreams of a blissful life where all things will have to go the way I planned it.
I remember one of my aunties telling me that life is not a bed of roses. But as a young boy I thought I had it made despite coming from one of the poorest background in our society. I thought I had wings to fly above those limitations not minding what the challenges were. I remember coming to Lagos Nigeria in 1996 then i was in secondary school hoping that was going to be a limitation breaker for me but little did I know that I was into an adventure that I would never forget and which could hunt me for the rest of my life. Then it was a distance relation of mine. Though a bachelor then he was a terror of a kind, a man of wickedness. May God not let me see him in my dream not in this life.
I had a friend then, she now works with GTB and is married. Missing her when i left Lagos to village because I could not stand the man i was living with, was the turning point in my life. In the village though i had the pleasure of living with my parents and younger ones,I was virtually drowning in the sea of loneliness and abandonment. I lived in two separate world for more than thirteen years, the physical world were I missed my most cherished companion and the spiritual were I only see her in my dreams. Nobody had any idea of the pains i was carrying. I then concluded that life is not fair.
After my secondary school cert exams my dad told me that he had no money to sent me to the university. I could not help myself as tears came rolling down from my eyes like an open tap. Were do i go from here, what becomes of my beautiful well painted picture of a blossom future. i asked but no answer came because no one was listening. I came back to Lagos Nigeria in 2002 ever since then life has not been the same. So many stuff have changed including the society we leave in. The government care less for the people that vote them into power. The people on there part have became a problem to themselves,no one cares for his neighbour. Christianity is being preached in our churches but less or non of it is practiced among the same preachers.
Now i have become a prayer warrior, praying to redeem myself from my present state. In all these I'm not getting younger either, over 30years old and still counting my responsibilities keeps multiplying on daily basis. Now a man with a wife and two kids i have not done badly giving the fact that many are there wishing to be me. Though no formal degree certificate I'm still fighting because my hope is not lost and most of all,I have not lost my faith. Every day is an opportunity for me because no time is late. With God all things are possible.

Discover Your True Purpose

2011-10-15T14:39:00.000-07:00

When i was a child i looked at life differently with much hope and desire. I thought i was smarter than my dad and could excel quickly than he did but little did i know that there is more to life than i know. Now i am in my thirties so much have changing, personally and generally. Now i live in a real world where I'm faced with reality and i gaze you do!
We all grew up having one picture or the other of the kind of life we desire for ourselves but as we grow into adults we begin a new journey in a new direction. A journey defined not by its destination nor by how fast you move because the Bible said " the race is not to the swift or the fastest or the smartest". Maybe you found yourself in a family were you had all you ever needed provided by parents, uncle or other close relatives your experience of life can not be the same with the folk who had to work it out by him or her self but a meaningful life ( that life that impacts in the life of other people and society) is driven by one factor and that factor is what i call purpose.

Purpose is the key to success in life because it is the reason for your existence. How would you respond to questions like why are you a human being? or why are you here? The reason why you live your life in frustrations wandering from one thing to the other, from one relationship to another, from one school or course to another, from one business to another, from one job to another is because you lack purpose in your life ie no definite reason is attached to that stuff you are involved in this leads to lack of commitment and eventual failure.

In genesis when God wanted to make man he said let us create man in our own image and likeness =purpose. You do not make mistakes when you are purpose driven even when you do because nobody is above, you can easily retrace your steps without frustrations. The man or woman with purpose knows when and how to count his or her blessings. Take a second look at yourself at the mirror, what do you see? I hope you see a beautifully made master piece crafted in the image of God Himself the Master maker? I hope you see an individual that is being driven by a new purpose? I hope you see yourself moving to where God wants you to be?

Money is not a ya stick to measure purpose in fact you can have all the money yet lack purpose. while the need for money can not be swept away purpose gives you direction, peace of mind and fulfilment in life all these money alone can not bring. How can you add purpose to your life?

Finding what your heart sincerely craves for is key to finding true purpose in life and these comes as a result of your relationship with God. forget your boyfriends or girlfriends. Leave the flashy girls and glamorous guys with all the money you will never find lasting happiness in them. but looking unto God who said in Jeremiah 29 vs 11 " i know the plans I have for you. Plans of good not of evil, to give you a hope and a future.

Maybe your life has not gone the way you planned you still have a chance. Jesus is calling you in Mathew 11 vs 28 - 30 he said "come to me and i will give you rest".
