HTC HD2 (aka HTC Leo, EU / US T-Mobile) Custom ROM / Firmware

The fastest Phone in its series and really nice looking one too. Its got really nice specs but OS is Windows Mobile 6.5. Many People Experience lag when using it. So like most phones it got customized.

There were two version of this phone released one which has about 512 MB of ROM space (LEO512) and the other which has 1024 MB of ROM (T-Mobile aka LEO1024). So take extra care when you want to flash the phone, cause if you flash a version meant for the other phone you will brick it, making your phone a very expensive paper weight. But there are people who Un-Brick the phone for about $50 + Shipping Charges. But still be careful. And read the complete post / thread before attempting anything.

Steps to flash this phone :

Check for HardSPL 2.08, since this is a prerequisite for MAGLDR 1.13 (@ 2)

If not then download HardSPL4 package and Install HardSPL 2.08, Flash Instructions here : LEO512 and LEO1024

Install MAGLDR 1.13 from DFT, Supports both LEO512 & LEO1024 – SAFE & ONE TIME

Optional – Some ROM require ClockworkMod Recovery Partition – CAUTION, You should be careful when installing this as it can cause your existing OS to be unusable.

Choose a ROM and Flash it – CAUTION, Flashing wrong ROM will render the phone unusable (Bricked) because some are designed for either LEO512 or LEO1024 so watch out.

[28.APR] CMYLXGOs Stock Desire HD(2) [RUU1.84] [RAF 1.9OC] – This has a Full (LEO1024 / T-Mobile) and a Lite Version (LEO512) running Android 2.2 Froyo.This has APP2SD. I have used the Full Version ROM on a LEO1024 and works like a charm. Since this uses the Stock Desire HD ROM it gives the phone a good after market value cause of SENSE UI. The HTC 7 Pro (aka the HTC Arrive) is a Professional Level Smartphone, which is part of the HTC 7 series of Internet-Enabled, Windows Phone 7 smartphones designed and marketed by HTC Corporation. Its predecessor is the HTC Touch Pro2 which has a Left Sliding Keyboard with a tilting Screen. Some people like android on this phone so I looked into it.

As of now, there is no new update on this phone, as this phone is very new to the market. As soon as an exploit has been found. I will update this post. So please follow my tweets (Look to the sidebar). Thanks for reading.

My Mobile Custom ROM List

Hi guys, I will be posting my list of Mods (Custom ROMs) that can be installed on to phones such as HTC HD2, HTC Magic, ETC. This list is a work in Progress and will take sometime to be completed since I will be adding.

So If you notice any flaws or mistakes in my list please inform me, I will really appreciate it.

How to clean disk drive?

Are you running out of space from your hard drive and external drives? Here are some tips and tools on how get more out of your hard drive.

I recommend the Slim Cleaner.

Its got a “Cleaner” that permanently deletes files such as Recycle Bin, Temporary Internet Files for all Installed Browsers, etc. You can also select what item is selected for deletion from the menu. So choose carefully. After that press “Run Cleaner” button.

Suppose you only want to delete only one item like “Temporary Internet Files” under “Internet Explorer”, then right click it and click on “Clean”

I love the registry cleaner too, cause it gets rid of all so unwanted registry entries that are left behind by uninstalled software and games.

Under ‘Tools’ its got an ‘Uninstall’ section that allows for quick uninstalling of programs, and also deletion of the registry entry that shows the program under “Add and Remove Programs” or “Programs and Features” in “Control Panel”.

“Startup” gives you the ability to remove start up programs that run on every reboot.

“System Restore” removes any and all system restore points except the last one made. “System Restore" service sometime tends to eat up some space.

“Drive Wiper” can securely wipe free space only or the entire drive (All data will be erased for this option) with different levels of security such as "Simple Overwrite”, “DOD 5220.22-M”, “NSA” or “Gutmann”

Delete all those old low ranking movies that you got in your hard drives – But how do you choose what to save or what to delete?
- Check for the Movie Ratings – I usual check the movie ratings before deleting and even downloading. Sometimes lots of paid critics create unnecessary hype about a new movie before it even gets release. So go to IMDB type in the movie name and check out its rating. I high recommend for going for movies that rate above 6.5. and Delete those movies that rank less that 6.5.
- If you still want to keep some of the movies then Burn them on to a DVD as a file or DVD Disc.

You can also Compress your DVD Folder to a single AVI file by using Handbrake. I will be posting a how to post on this application. So please follow my blog or subscribe for a notification by RSS.

Need to find more junk from your Hard drive then tools such as SpaceMonger ($.$)

or WinDirStat.

But from my experience SpaceMonger is the best cause its more dynamic that any other on the web. So I hope that this can help you out with your dilemma.

MTU or maximum transmission unit (MTU) is a protocol that determines what size data packets should be.

Well its seems that Popular WiFi (or Wireless) Routers or LAN Routers have the ability to set a certain value for MTU.

What does MTU effect? Well it can effect such as Login Problems with Windows Live Messenger, X-BOX Login Problems, PS-Network Login Issues.

My recommendation is to experiment with the MTU value, but my recommended value is either 1492 or 1500.

People should be aware by now that an infamous non-profit organization known as WikiLeaks, has been leaking out sensitive private information to the public.

At the moment, I have heard some documents such as “Cablegate: 250,000 US Embassy Diplomatic Cables”, or “Video: Collateral Murder”.

Documents, Videos, Audios, all of which if you or me are in possession of could me serious jail time.

“Curiosity Killed the Cat”, and in this case will seriously hurt you if you were to get caught with such material in your hard drives.

So please be warned, Pedo-Material is not the only worst thing on the internet.

I don’t condemn what Wikileaks is trying to do, what they are doing is in fact noble, trying to make sure unbiased information is available to the public, but at what cost?

Thinkpad T61 Onboard Graphic Card Issue

Resolving “FAN ERROR” on IBM ThinkPad T61

A funny thing happened during work. About 3 hours before leaving for home, my IBM ThinkPad T61 failed to start up from Hibernate mode. The screen was black with a message, FAN ERROR. Oh My God, WHAT THE F###????????.

What a nightmare? someone wake me up…. OK so I quickly made a plan, get some help from Google… Still no good answer, So I thought to myself why would the BIOS give me such a message… I guess the Fan was having a problem, Most probably it didn't get to enough RPM rates to be OK for the BIOS to go ahead and boot.

So I had to take apart my laptop and get to know my laptop even better.

2. Patience – like a very gifted few you should try to get good quality to have, besides without that you might end up through the laptop from the roof of your building.

3. Just check out page 41, Error Messages, Item 7 says FAN ERROR, notice that that there are 3 possible causes, Fan, Thermal Grease and System Board.

4. I am thinking the problem is related to the fan since it is a mechanical part. There are several reason for it to malfunction or fail, most common is due to dust inside of the work area of the fan. Best thing to do is try to take the fan and copper heat sink out and clean it with WD40 – very good contact clean plus its non-conductive so its electrical safe.

5. Just follow the steps on page 84, 1140 Fan Assembly, the page should also point out to several other pages to remove certain parts before getting to the fan assembly.

6. Spray WD40 on and make sure that every craves is soaked in it. Especially the motor area of the fan where you get the actuator (Motor).

7. Then use an industrial blower to blow the fan. Make sure it is moving freely. If the fan tends to slow down instantly then there maybe some dust still in the actuator. Then repeat step 6 and tried again with the blower.

8. After it starts moving freely. Attach the Fan Assembly and reattach the rest of the assembly without fixing any screw.

9. Plug the power cable and turn on the laptop and see if it gives the same error again. If it don't then all is well. You can put everything else in place and fix it together.

In case the error does show up then re-try step 8 . If after this the error keeps coming, it means that the Fan is failing, then your should try to get a replacement.

Its usually costs from $ 40 to about $ 95 depending on delivery charges and warranty.

Well for me it worked, i didn't have to buy any new parts, i just need WD40 and some patience to get the job.

UPDATE:

Just recently the very same laptop that I resolved for the "FAN ERROR" had to have the fan replaced anyway. The above method resolved the problem temporarily. So if u get this problem please get the FAN replaced ASAP.
