Well-known mindfulness teacher, Jon Kabat-Zinn, defines it this way Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally. I also like to think of mindfulness as the art of inhabiting your own life with kindness and acceptance.

When first entertaining the idea of practicing mindfulness in a conscious, committed way, I had mixed feelings. On the one hand, I absolutely believed that I would love the peace of mind and sense of balance that those who practiced mindfulness seemed to enjoy. On the other hand, I groaned inwardly at the thought of adding yet another guilt-inducing "should" to an already full schedule. Two different things tempered my concerns and helped me make a wholehearted commitment to the practice of mindfulness. One was noticing how calm, accepting, and humorous people were whom I knew practiced mindfulness regularly. I wanted more of that appealing equanimity and joy. The other realization was a semi-embarrassing "Duh!" Instead of making mindfulness a guilt-inducing chore, I could simply choose to make practicing mindfulness a joy and celebrate each small step taken.

Because my goal in personal practice is to create a guilt-free and supportive atmosphere, I've adopted the adage A few mindful moments make a world of difference as my motto. And a few mindful moments do make a world of difference. Probably, we can all summon memories of experiences that are branded indelibly in our minds and hearts. They may be as simple as watching the moon rise or as miraculous as being at a baby's birth. Remembering such things can feel as if we're having the experience all over again. We can actually embody the same physical feelings, or the deep sense of awe and mystery, that were present at the actual event. But why do these particular memories stick with us in such vivid detail while so many others fade into oblivion? What do these indelible memories have in common? We paid attention when the original events were happening. Our brains, hearts, and minds where present during the experience, not projected into the future or ruminating in the past. We were there, alive and receptive, fully inhabiting our lives in that moment.

As parents, anyone who has been in an intimate relationship, and even animal trainers know, you get more cooperation and a better response from others by accentuating and appreciating acceptable behaviors than you do by emphasizing and berating undesirable ones. In other words, we catch more bees by using the honey of kindness and approval than we do by wielding the bludgeon of guilt. The same is true of your relationship with yourself. Energy and enthusiasm flow where your attention goes. Therefore, in keeping with my guilt-free motto, I try not to dwell on how few mindful minutes I may have had so far today; but, rather, gently remind myself to become more mindful right now. It can also be helpful to revisit mindful moments at the end of the day and congratulate yourself on your expanding awareness. Affirming even what may seem the smallest of successes encourages you to continue practicing mindfulness one tiny little moment at a time.

The following practice helps me begin and end the day with a few mindful moments.

Practice . . .

Wake up to breath . . .
Before getting out of bed in the morning, tune into your breath and simply be aware of it without trying to change it. Do this for five or six breaths.
Express gratitude for at least two things. For instance, waking up to another day, sleeping as well as you did, or for a dream you remember.
Set an intention for the day. For example, "Today I will practice kindness." "Today, I will eat in a healthy way." or "I will give each of the kids five minutes of undivided attention today."
Rest in breath . . .
Before going to sleep at night, turn your attention to your breath. Rest in it quietly for several effortless inhalations and exhalations.
Review and relive mindful moments experienced during the day. Thank yourself for being aware and present. Think about constructive choices you made and congratulate yourself for making them.
Ask to be protected as you sleep.
Each mindful moment remembered and celebrated makes a world of difference in our willingness to continue practicing.

Well-known mindfulness teacher, Pema Chodron says, Compassion for others begins with kindness to ourselves. One of the wonderful things about adopting a guilt- free attitude toward our mindfulness practices in particular, and ourselves in general, is that our personal outlooks are effected. When not carrying a self-induced burden of guilt, our hearts can open more fully and, as a result, shower compassion and kindness on both ourselves and others.

Practice mindfulness
With commitment, not pressure
Feel heart opening.

Copyright © 2008 Sue Patton Thoele

Author
Sue Patton Thoele is a psychotherapist, former hospice chaplain, and bereavement group leader. Catwalk shows are the mainstays of these weeks which are held around the world and which attract mass attention globally. The primary fashion weeks are held in the style capitals, London, Milan, Paris and New York, but there are many others that take place in lesser known areas of the fashion world, and are designed to draw people’s attention to less prominent designers. These include Australian Fashion Week, Japan Fashion Week, South Africa Fashion Week, and Los Angeles Fashion week. In the main fashion cities, fashion weeks are held twice a year, displaying ‘autumn’ trends and their ‘spring’ collections. These are held a long time in advance of the actual season to allow adequate coverage and previews of the designs before the actual season. This is also done to give buyers a chace to purchase the designers’ creations, and so retail stores can use elements of the designers’ styles in their mass produced clothes for the High Street market.
Fashion Weeks are attended by buyers for major stores, the media, celebrities, and members of the entertainment industry. In years gone by, fashion weeks were predominantly used as commerical events, and only people in the industry attended them. Today, however they are lavish, exclusive events, attended by many celebrities and cause a media frenzy. The week is a 7-day extravaganza which often includes live music, lavish galas and charity events. Some shows are also open to selected members of the public, as well as some of the events that display the designer’s latest handbags, jewellery, shoes, hats and cosmetics. Many important fashion design schools now feature in contemporary Fashion Weeks as well.
Fashion Weeks have been around since 1943, when the first one was held in New York to divert attention away from French fashions during the Second Worl War, when fashion industry insiders were unable to travel to Paris to see French fashion shows. Fashion publicist Eleanor Lamber staged a "Press Week" for fashion journalists to present the creations of American designers, who were not usually paid any attention by the fashion media. The buyers were not invited to these shows but instead had to visit the designers' showrooms. Press Week was an unprecedented success, and fashion magazines like Vogue, which were normally filled with French designs, beagn increasingly to focus on American fashion.
Some beauty products sponsor fashion weeks, such as the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival and the L’Oreal Fashion Week held in Toronto, due to the inherent relationship between fashion and beauty. Other fashion weeks are held for one precise type of fashion, such as swimwear, lingerie, or bridal couture. Fashion weeks are viewed as the designer’s way of making their collections visible and broadcast throughout the world in a very short space of time. This shortens the time in which it will take for people to start recognising, buying and following the designer’s trends, which in the end is the designer’s ultimate aim.

About the Author:

Author bio
Tania Machowska is a former model with experience of catwalk and catalogue modelling. Hair is a remarkably tough material but over time abuse can wreak havoc with its natural properties. Hair plays a major part in defining the personality of any human being. Hair is composed primarily of proteins (88%). These proteins are of a hard fibrous type known as keratin. Keratin protein is comprised of what we call "polypeptide chains.” Hair normally has a moisture content of approximately 10%. Hair care is an overall term for parts of hygiene and cosmetology involving the hair on the human head. Hair washing is the cosmetic act of keeping hair clean by washing it with shampoo or other detergent products and water. Hair conditioner may also be used to improve hair's texture and manageability. Two-in-one shampoos, which have both detergent and conditioning components, are now commonly also used as a replacement for shampoo and conditioner. Human head has on an average 100,000 hairs that need looking after. Human hair can be divided into three main types dry hair ,greasy / fine hair and normal hair.

Dry hair often gets frizzy, entangled and is prone to split ends. Combing becomes a lot more difficult. Dandruff is another problem. Dry hair may result from too much washing, harsh detergents, a dry environment, inadequate diet, or underlying conditions, such as those due to malnutrition. Dry, brittle hair may be a symptom of metabolic diseases such as hypothyroidism and Menkes kinky hair syndrome. Dry hair is often caused by too much time in the sun, chlorine, salt water, over-shampooing, permanents, heat styling, or neglect. This kind of hair is difficult to style. This hair requires more frequent washing than other hair types. Washing hair with the right type of shampoo will help ease this problem. Normal hair looks healthy and does not remain greasy or dry all the while. Women in particular look at bountiful hair as one of the attributes of beauty. The bounce in your hair can be felt in your stride too. Many women lament that good hair days are rare and most often it is a battle of wits to get the hair looking good.

Healthy, silky hair is something we all want. Washing hair is an essential part of the hair care routine. Wash your hair by letting it hang naturally as you stand under the shower. Carefully rinse your hair with warm water to get it ready for shampooing. A tablespoon shampoo should be sufficient for long hair and a proportionate amount for short hair. Apply on the surface of the scalp, when use lose all of the shampoo from the palm put the fingers inside the hair and not massage till you get that soupy effect. Don’t rub or pull out your hair. Once you are done wait for 2 – 3 minutes and risen off well with water. Let water run through your hair while rinsing and continue stroking your hair in the downward direction. Rinse hair completely and check the hair lines for remnant shampoo lather. Do not to stroke the wet hair roughly as it is prone to damage at this stage. It is purely a personal decision on the number of times you want to wash your hair. It is believed that our ancestors seldom washed their hair, but with today’s pollution and grime we can hardly think of following that dictum.

Hair Washing Tips

1. Start shampooing from the nape of your neck and then into your scalp.

2. Using a comb to distribute the conditioner is a great idea.

3. Blot the water from your hair into a towel and do not rub as it is very weak when wet.

4. Do not wrap your hair in a towel over a head for a long time; this will cause damage to the root of the hair.

5. Try and avoid blow drying your hair as much as possible.

6. Avoid using a blow dryer. Let your hair air-dry.

7. Avoid washing your hair as much as you can, as natural oil is healthy for your hair.

8. Do not comb wet hair, as they damage hair. Massage your hair well.

9. Do not rub the towel, as it may hold fibers damaging your hair.

10. Rinse your hair with hot water to remove dirt and rinse in cold water to make your hair shine and to close the cuticle.

11. Dry the vehicle like you washed it, from the top down.

About the Author:

Juliet Cohen is an expert in Hair Styles . BeyondDropship.com offers more than most websites, and with its jewelry turnkey website operation it acts like a franchise without being legally binding as a franchise. It is a new type of business known as an “Internet Franchise,” which provides the operators franchisees with maximum flexibility, branding, and moneymaking options as a real franchise would.
Like Burger King, McDonalds, and KFC selling their products to their franchisees; BeyondDropship.com offers a site loaded with jewelry (which the operator can choose to sell or they can sell completely different products) and free drop shipping services so that all the buyer of the business opportunity has to do is market their website and take the orders. Aside from some customer support that the buyer may need to do when there are questions with the orders, JewelrySprite.com, the parent company and the one selling the silver jewelry, takes care of all of the post order issues. Because Jewelrysprite.com uses blind dropshipping, the end consumer will never be contacted and will have no knowledge that another site is even involved in the ordering process. Two main differences from a traditional franchise is that the “franchisees” do not have a common brand and have build their own brand but the traditional supports that a franchiser offers are there without the legal implications. The other major difference is the opportunity is free to get started as the website is free, it just cost for hosting/leasing fee as any franchise charges these fees on a regular basis.

About JewelrySprite.com
BeyondDropship.com is a fully owned division of JewelrySprite.com which is designed by Webtron (http://webtron.net) a leading web design company in Miami, Florida. It is the first fully integrated wholesale and retail business to business to consumer (B2B2C) source of fine jewelry products on the Internet. With its innovations in the internet business opportunity model BeyondDropship.com offers turnkey jewelry solutions that act similar to a Franchise opportunity without being one and eliminates the legal hassles while still offering the same level of support to its customers.
JewelrySprite.com carries fine and fashion jewelry made in various parts of the world in silver, brass, and base metal as well as the finer Gold and Platinum and Steel, and Sterling wholesale silver jewelry at an affordable price. We primarily sell wholesale and offer free blind dropshing worldwide for most of our customers!

One more advantage over a traditional franchise is that the business is simple and can be ran from home part-time; Nelly Hernandez who runs NellySparkles.com says “All I have to do is market my site and when I get orders I transfer them from my website to JewelrySprite.com with just three clicks. They do the rest unless there is a question about the order, then they write to me and I write to my customer so my customer never knows they exist and I brand myself only”. Mrs. Hernandez goes on to say “I have all the security and comfort of a franchise business without any legal implications or the overhead of managing the franchise brand itself; but I get to brand myself and as with a franchise the site provides many marketing tools for me to use so that I do not have to work hard to do most marketing tasks on the internet”.
Beyond just providing the turnkey jewelry business, BeyondDropship.com offers any merchant the ability to use the site to sell any conceivable type of product, as marketing jewelry is not required. Merchants can put up to 4000 of their own products items on the site. This is a major degenerative shift in the hair growth pattern universally referred to as Common Baldness or Male Pattern Alopecia and Female Pattern Alopecia. Given that this change is genetically pre-determined, it is therefore extremely difficult to slow or reverse this very gradual but definite deterioration in these pre-determined areas of the scalp. Androgenic Alopecia is triggered, as its name suggests, by the androgens (masculinising hormones present of course in both sexes).

At puberty the male sex hormone, testosterone, appears in both sexes and is partially converted by the enzyme 5-? reductase into the much more active form di-hydroxytestosterone (DHT). It is this more active form DHT that causes miniaturisation and eventual loss of the hair follicle in pre-determined areas of the scalp in cases of Androgenic Alopecia.

The new hair that is produced by the dermal papilla has a slightly shorter growing (anagen) cycle and is smaller in both length and in its diameter. The cycle is repeated, with each successive hair getting smaller and smaller, reverting eventually to the very fine baby (vellus) hair. Eventually the dermal papilla ceases to function, hair growth production stops and the hair follicle finally atrophies and is lost. These dormant dermal papillae can be reactivated by

suitable chemical stimuli for up to about five years after hair production ceases before they are permanently lost.

The scalp shows the characteristic bi-temporal recession and movement of the front hair line in men with thinning of the frontal and crown areas, proceeding in the pre-determined stages, leading ultimately to complete baldness in some cases.

Women usually have a different pattern of hair loss. The hairline is retained and thinning occurs behind the hairline on the frontal and crown areas and often the areas above both ears are affected. Complete baldness in women is not normal, although it is possible for some women to experience hair loss in the male pattern.

There are a large number of treatments available for use for MPA and FPA and many clinically proven agents that will promote hair growth in cases of Androgenic Alopecia (and many more that will promote the growth of hair in unacceptable areas) and these treatments will certainly assist in stabilising the position and promoting modest re-growth but any changes are not dramatic, they are marginal at best and should be seen as "buying time", delaying the onset of hair loss. Probably the most effective treatments will buy you five years, possibly a little more, before you are back in the same position. This result can certainly be worth achieving but you can liken it to trying to run back up the genetic down escalator. The condition will revert eventually to its genetically pre-determined position.

Now the hormones may be masters of the biological universe but they are by no means the only agents or conditions that can affect hair growth and many of these can have a substantial, sometimes devastating effect. We need to consider conditions that have both a negative effect, i.e. they must be present and correct to achieve normal hair growth and without them hair growth will be adversely affected. In the second group, the agents or situations that can positively affect hair growth, they can increase the growth response above what would normally be expected. This is the second group, the "positive effect" group.

We will consider the first group, the "qualifying" group; they are necessary, but only to return to the genetic "norm", but it is vital that they are in place and we will, of course, look then at the second group, the genetic "boosters", the fireworks, the ones that can lift you, within reason, above the genetic norm. It is important to understand their significance and the way in which they fit into the overall pattern of hair growth.

Gary Heron is one of Europe's leading trichologists for the past 20 years dealing directly with every type of hair loss and scalp disorder for both men and women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. The 21st century woman is confident, independent and caring. She knows her worth and does not wait for a man to give recognition to her identity. She is sure about her strides and knows where she is headed. Many of them have made choices that were unthinkable even a decade back. These choices speak of her courage, resilience and will power. They have catapulted themselves to the summit of the fields they have plunged into. Even when they have gifted new life to their families, they have not let their careers take a back seat, nor have they lost sight of the focus.

I’m sure you have seen them. Rushing on the road to catch a bus or cab with a child, sometimes even a toddler in tow, they are working mothers. They have made a conscious choice not to let their child come in the path of their career. It is not a logical conclusion that they are single; many of them are married with their partners earning enough to put bread on the table. Still they have decided to stay put on the path they have chosen. Economic independence is an integral part of modern life and they do not need to be told that. Single mothers, of course, have no choice but to go out and work. This does not mean that they do it grudgingly; they are very happy in their lives and would not give up this for anything.

Life for a working mother is tough, if not totally impossible. She has to strike a very fine balance, the scales of which make sense only to her. You or I cannot find possible explanations as to how she manages to straddle equally demanding paths. Her child is her priority but she doesn’t ignore the client meeting to spend time with her child. She will do it nevertheless but she will also make a provision to come prepared for the client meeting. Her time-management skills can make a CEO make a desperate dash for his or her watch.

There are times when she has to handle critical issues which are high on the emotion quotient. Her child may find it hard sometimes to come to terms with the double life his or her mom is leading. The child may not be getting her attention when he or she needs the most. This may result in bouts of depression and a feeling of resentment against the mother. Then it is up to the mother how she handles it. It will require time, care, even cajole and lots of time. That is the ultimate test of a mother on the home-front.

In office, she may have to do a lot of hard work to prove herself and her seriousness about her work. Society holds a prejudice against her because she is a mother. She may also have to refuse promotions and offers which will ask her to cut slices of her time off her personal life. Other than these, a mention should be made of the numerous bills that she has to go around paying, groceries, shopping and the works. So to all those women who are working mothers, my salute to you. All those who are on track to this road, my salute to you too, for having made this choice. The family is the building block of the society and social scientists over the ages have designated the role of holding this unit together on women. This has not gone down well with the fighters of women’s rights. They have objected strongly to this as derogatory to the independence of the woman. They have also stressed on the necessary of economic independence for the woman to raise her voice against male oppression. In the modern age, women have been able to throw off the shackles to a large extent. However, if a woman herself chooses to stay at home and raise a family?

Female students have a general tendency to work after they complete their education. If someone chooses a family life within the confines of a home, her peers may take it to be a rather timid and obsolete choice. I feel it’s the choice of the individual that matters. If she chooses to be a wife and mother at home, we cannot jeer at her decision. Nor must we feel that she lacks in ability to go out there and rub shoulders with the competitive, inconsiderate world.

A mother staying at home has to take stock of a lot of things. She makes sure that the family wheel stays well lubricated. She helps her husband and children go out for work or education. She keeps them well fed. She takes care of their things and makes sure they are there at hand when needed. She takes care of the bills and other expenditures. She takes care of the finances and plans her savings according to the income of the household. So she does everything that an office manager would be doing. The difference is tat she is doing it on a microcosmic scale, but that does not talk lowly of her efficiency.

There lies another difference too. She does it out of love. The problem arises if her family does not appreciate that love and caring. That is where feminists who are against women staying at home have a problem. The lack of economic independence does compromise her position. Mothers have it particularly difficult if the father is not responsible to the children. Many mothers stay put at home in a loveless marriage for the sake of their children just because they do not have the means to step out of the threshold of stability and security. She has to bear the consequences of not earning a living.

It is very difficult to conclude which path is the best for a mother. It depends on individual calling. Homemakers need not be totally devoid of earnings today. They can do a lot of free lancing work from home which will take care of their expenditures, even if their first priority is the family. What we can do is to empathize with our mothers who are homemakers as they deserve all the appreciation that you can possibly assimilate. What we can also do is respect the sacrifice of love that they have undergone to make us have a better life.

About the Author:

Dorothy Smith is the author of this article wants to send information about the events & special occasions.

For nothing is more rewarding when you child smiles and opens the door for you after a hard day’s work.

About the Author:

Dorothy Smith is the author of this article wants to send information about the events & special occasions. What makes even worse for some people is the thought of losing their hair. A balding spot on the head usually equates to old age. And for some people, it can be tough to take. However, there are some natural alternatives that can result in the best and hair loss treatment. With the standard medications on the market today, there's always the danger of some negative side effects over the long-term. Herbs offer a natural alternative for hair loss treatment with limited negative side effects. There are three herbal alternatives that you can try;

* Green tea
* Gingko biloba
* He shou wu

Green Tea

Most people would never think that green tea could be one of the best for hair loss treatment. Green tea contains compounds called catechins that it's possible may restrict the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase which changes testosterone into DHT, a chemical very unfriendly to hair which can result in male baldness. Green tea also has properties, which helps relax the blood vessels and as a result, improves circulation, which may also help with hair loss. If you decide to try this method, it's a good idea not to drink more than 5 cups of green tea per day or 300 milligrams. Consuming too much green tea can lead to sleeplessness as well as headaches and vomiting.

Gingko Biloba

It is widely believed that gingko biloba helps increase blood circulation to the brain as well as the skin. With this increase blood circulation, more nutrients are sent to the hair follicles, which would help in preventing as well as reducing hair loss. The dosage varies but herbalists suggest 120-160 mg of the herb as a dry extract spread out over three times during the day.

He Shou Wu

He Shou Wu has been used by the Chinese for generations to treat hair loss. This herbal medicine in its processed form helps sustain the liver and kidneys, which according to traditional Chinese medicine, is the foundation of blood and essence. It is believed that liver blood feeds the head and hair on it and that liver essence stocks semen and helps to control the aging process, which is a factor in hair loss. He Shou Wu is considered to be one of the best hair loss treatments and is supported by clinical tests. Tests have shown that when people take he shou wu, 60% of the individuals experience hair re-growth. Most Chinese herbal stores will sell he shou wu. At the time this writing, you can purchase a bottle for about $2.00 which contains 100 tablets. The recommended dosage is five tablets three times per day.

With the ever-increasing dangers of side effects from synthesize medications, herbal supplements can offer a safe and natural alternative. Each hair rises out of a bulb-like follicle and goes through a cycle of growth for up to five years. It then stops growing and goes into a period of rest, after which it falls out and a new hair starts to grow.

Hair loss can be caused by a number of factors, some of which are circulation, stress, hormonal changes and nutrition. Of course the toughest factor to overcome is genetics.

Hair is a reflection on the overall condition of your body. A healthy and well-nourished body reflects in bouncy and healthy hair. Analyzing a snip of hair can give a clear picture of any deficiency of vitamins and minerals. Any sort of nutritional deficiency would result in thinning hair, hair loss or even baldness. A malfunctioning thyroid can also play havoc with the condition of your hair. Excessive stress and certain medications are known to contribute to falling hair
Iron deficiency is the biggest problem for non genetic hair loss amongst women in Britain.

For iron to be absorbed in the body Vitamin C and Lysine acid needs to be taken. If you do not eat alot of red meat then it could be difficult to absorb enough iron, so it is advisable to consider using a supplement. It is very important to look after your digestion by eating vegetables and fruit on a daily basis. It is also important to eat the following foods on a regular basis.

Home Hair Treatments

Here are some herbal homemade hair treatments and natural home remedies for hair, which have also stood the test of time:
When your hair looks very stressed, nettles are a wonderful tonic and detox. Infuse dried nettle leaves (some health food stores now carry nettle tea bags) and drink the tea. The infusion can also be used as a hair rinse.
Home remedy for conditioning your blond hair - To shine and condition blond hair, rinse in chamomile tea. Add one teaspoon of lemon juice to a liter of tea for extra shine.

Rosemary – Beauticians have swore by the benefits of Rosemary herb as a beauty and skin aide. It will nourish your dry and flaky scalp helping you get rid of dandruff. It also slows down premature hair loss and graying.
Chamomile – Chamomile is a great conditioner for damaged and dry hair. When used for rinsing after shampoo it will help restore shine and bring out the natural highlights for blondes. It also helps to strengthen the hair to prevent breakage, tangling and split ends.

Ginger hair oil is a wonderful hair treatment which stimulates hair growth, boosts the scalp’s circulation, and alleviates dandruff. Ginger treatment will leave your hair feel soft, clean, and pleasantly smelling of herbs. In order to make this fantastic hair remedy at home, grate 1 tbsp fresh ginger root, place it in a cheesecloth, and squeeze ginger juice (you will get about 1/4 tsp juice). However, it is a day so closely associated with romance that it seemed to be a good time to remind women to use caution and sound judgment in the dating world. So, even though Valentines Day is over this year, it is always good to remember some basics.

Here are some helpful reminders for women:

· The most common date-rape drug is not what most people might think. It is alcohol and experienced rape counselors know that it’s the most often used tool predators attempt to utilize when they are trying to overcome a woman’s self-will. Be cautious when drinking alcohol with someone you are not completely sure of.
· The other most common date rape drugs used against women are:
1. Rohypnol, which is a pill that looks similar to an aspirin and is usually simply tossed into an unsuspecting woman’s drink.
2. Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate (GHB), a clear liquid that is odorless, colorless and is poured into beverages.
3. Ketamine is another liquid, which is commonly used in veterinary medicine as an anesthetic, and it too, is poured into drinks.

All of these drugs are used to break down a woman’s will, mental and physical self-control and normal thought processes.

In addition to the drugs mentioned there are many other substances predators can put into drinks. Using their imagination, possibly utilizing medications or drugs they may have on hand, these criminals can come up with terrible concoctions to take advantage of women.

So what should a woman do?

I suggest women always be somewhat cautious in public areas regarding their beverages. My advice is a little more rigid than most experts recommend but I suggest if you lose sight of your drink get a new one unless you are with family, trusted friends or your drink is actually being watched while you leave it alone.

As far as the ever-real danger of date rape, do not forget these common sense tips:
· Get to know as much as you can about a prospective date.
· Meet in a public place.
· Tell family or friends who you’ll be out with, where you will be going and when you will be coming home.
· Believe in yourself and don’t settle for being with people you feel are dangerous, scary and simply too wild or out of control. Believe that you don’t have to settle for “less” and that you can find nice reasonable dating partners.

When you are dating, every date is a potential happy Valentines Day possibility. Believe in this because it is true, however, while on that journey to discover happiness remember to simply use reasonable caution.

About the Author:

Steve Kovacs is the author of: Protect Yourself: The Simple Keys Women Need to be Safe and Secure. Some things that they may be wanting to know are how long does menopause last, or what are some of the menopause symptoms to be prepared for. In truth menopause, once begun, never ends for the remainder of your life as it is marking the end of your menstrual cycle, much the way menarche is marking the start.

The way people usually use it, the term "menopause" is not just menopause but perimenopause as well. Perimenopause is the time before and just after the last instance of menstruation. Perimenopause can be very prolonged, sometimes lasting even years. Symptoms can be intense for a short period of time, or increasing in intensity over many years. Perimenopausal symptoms can be picked up by laboratory blood tests.

The most frequently presented menopause symptoms include abnormal and irregular periods, whose length and interval become irregular. Hot flashes (sometimes jocularly called power surges), vascular reactions that cause physical sensations, are another frequent symptom. Bleeding during periods may become much heavier and/or may combine with anemia as a more serious symptom of menopause. Ovarian failure, or surgery to remove both ovaries, may result in menopause starting before the usual age range of 45 to 60. Early menopausal symptoms may be stronger than those of normal menopause.

Women want their menopause relief solutions to stop their hot flashes and mood swings, which can be embarrassing and uncomfortable. Sudden sweating and flushing are socially embarrassing in ways that other, subtler menopause symptoms are not. The fluctuating levels of the sexual hormones progesterone and estrogen are the cause of most symptoms of menopause. Supplementing the body's own production of these hormones is a widely used treatment.

With menopause comes an increased risk of cancers such as breast and other types of cancers. Natural remedies, or supplements like products made from soy, herbs such as black and blue cohosh, and others are preferred by many females to treat their symptoms. Soy products contain a substance that is a natural estrogen. Others may choose to use hormone replacement therapy for a short term, a few months only, to alleviate the worst menopause symptoms.

Menopause also carries an increased risk for heart disease and osteoporosis, due to lower levels of protective estrogen. Many women will benefit from taking hormone supplements, despite their known risks, if they have family histories or previous occurrences of these problems. Generally, such women should take the lowest effective dose of such hormones, and should look for other ways to reduce the effects of heart disease and osteoporosis.

The time period for menopause varies greatly. Sometimes it can be very quick when a woman has had her ovaries removed. Other times it can take more than 10 years. The most important thing to realize is that the symptoms she experiences are controlled as much as possible with as little risk as needed.

About the Author:

Francine Cook is an ex-nurse (retired) who now writes articles on women’s issues. There are so many different types of hair straighteners, though, how do you choose the right one for your hair? This article will take a look at some of the different kinds of hair straighteners that are on the market so you can make a more informed choice.

Hair straighteners come with metal or ceramic heating plates. Metal plates tend to heat unevenly and are very rough on hair. On a microscopic level, these plates are very rough and will destroy your hair if you use them over an extended period of time.

For frequent hair straightening, ceramic is far better, as it heats evenly and is microscopically smooth, meaning that it slides over your hair without causing damage. Ceramic hair straighteners are also easier to control, they heat and cool very quickly so you can adjust the temperature to suit your hair type.

Newer technology includes the addition of Tourmaline and nano technology for better quality flat irons that straighten hair without damaging it. Tourmaline is a gemstone that is used in modern flat irons to create a flow of negative ions that actually help your hair smooth out easier without excessive heat. Tourmaline is crushed and incorporated into the ceramic plates of hair straighteners.

Nano technology is also built into the high tech flat irons, making them safer for your hair. Rather than pure heat, you will have infrared heat that penetrates deep into the hair shaft for a more lasting style. Obviously, these flat irons will be more costly because they use a combination of nano technology, ceramic heat plates and Tourmaline jewels, but the results are far better than the cheap versions that will just burn out your hair.

For African American hair or any thick, unmanageable locks that require frequent straightening (more than once every couple of weeks), your best bet is a ceramic hair straightener that uses Tourmaline and nano technology to prevent damaging your hair while giving you the best results. These flat irons will also provide more lasting results, since the infrared heat gets right inside the hair shaft.

Choosing the right flat irons or hair straighteners for your hair depends on how often you plan to straighten your hair and whether you care about damaging it or not. The best quality hair straighteners will have all of the technology mentioned earlier built into them.

About the Author:

You can find more information before you buy your next Professional Flat Irons at Buying Flat Irons Guides. Straight: Which Do Men Prefer?)

In the recent days, men are attaching a lot of importance to their hairstyle. Unlike women, men have little options. The options for hairstyling are poor since men tend to have short hair when compared to longish hair maintained by women. However, off late, even men are showing great interest in growing lengthy hair. On the contrary, women are wishing to sport a shorter hair cut. Normally, there is a conflict of interest among men regarding the right hair cut. The difference in the hair styles depends on the season. Men would like to have a short hair cut during summer more than often while longer hair becomes the norm during winter and cold days. However, now the options have narrowed down between straight hair and curly hair. Both are preferred by men but at different occasions for a variety of reasons.

For instance, everybody thought that the curly hair style was out of fashion. However, that is not the case. The curly hair style is making a comeback with a vengeance. It was generally presumed that curly hair cut is a very old style dating back to the early 1970s. However, the styles, just like a life cycle, repeat more than many times known to a man in a particular period. To sport a curly hair style in the yester years gave a sense of rebellion among the people. Therefore, it was common to find people sporting a curly hair whenever they had a problem relating to their college or schooling activities. However, now that trend has vanished with college circumstances not leading to any hair styles.

These days, people change their hairstyle to suit their looks. For instance, straight hair may not suit people, who have large physical appearance. It is suggested that such people seek out curly hair to match their physique. These days, technology is easily available to either straighten hair or make it curly depending on the choice of the person. Earlier, a person had to fix twines to the hair for hours together to give it a curly edge. However, now that has changed to matter of minutes. Special hair wash lotion is available using which hair can be either straightened or converted into curly.

According to a recent survey, equal number of men love to sport curly and straight hairstyles. However, the degree of the affiliation depends on the trends and preferences of the individual. Sometimes, a man might chose to change the hair style on account of personal reasons or wishes of the spouse. Some people simply go ahead with the hair style of their choice for the only reason that it meets their expectations.

These days, an ordinary hair stylist can change the hairstyle into curly or straight depending on the convenience of the customer. However, the hairstyling required to be done in accordance with the wishes of the consumer does not cost much when compared to older days. These days, sporting even a pony tail cut for men is considered extremely fashionable.

About the Author:

Article written by Robert Riles, who is a sports expert and owner of skyfireproducts.com

Technorati Tags:women, relationships, age, lady, female

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogspot/ghetohwomen/~3/00AIfCcbKVY/choose-best-hair-style-curly-vs.html" title="Choose the Best Hair Style (curly Vs. The right tools can help you achieve your makeup goals more precisely and easily. Every makeup brush, like other makeup tools, has its own function. But you don't need them all. Choose the tools that make sense for you. Makeup tools may include cosmetic Brushes, Cosmetic Containers, Makeup Mirror, Tweezers, Cosmetic Bags, Eyelash Curler, Cosmetic Case and Makeup Kits.

One should take right tools for wearing makeup as they are very important like makeup. Makeup tools have a tendency to be underrated aspect and overlooked for large numbers of women. Makeup accessories for most of women contain lip brush, powder puff or little makeup brushes. If one who is cared for makeup brushes in the right manner, makeup tools can be last for numbers of years. Before buying makeup brushes, one should examine that brushes should be full and soft and feel easy in the hand. If bristles of brushes come out, do not buy the brushes as it can make worse for the skin.

Good quality brushes are essential if you want professional looking makeup. In my opinion, they are the most important tools a girl can have in her bag. The two main brushes that you need are for powder and blush, both of which should have soft, natural bristles.

Some Makeup Tools
Makeup sponge - For applying foundation. You can also apply foundation with your fingers, if you find this easier. However, dabbing on foundation with a makeup sponge will give you better coverage. A triangle-shaped makeup sponge is the best tool for applying foundation as it reaches areas such as the sides of the nose and the corners of the eyes. Any excess blusher and flaky eye makeup can be wiped away with a makeup sponge.

Eye liner brush - Powdery eyeshadow can also be used as an eyeliner by applying eyeshadow with a damp, narrow brush. A narrow brush gets right to the base of the lashes. You can also apply liquid liner with an eye liner brush.

Sponge applicator - Use a sponge applicator to apply eyeshadow to the eyelid. Starting from the outer corner of the eye, blend the eyeshadow using a shading brush.

Concealer brush - The concealer brush is slightly flat. It helps hide circles under the eyes, patches around the nose, and any small flaws and blemishes neatly and naturally. The bristles should be fairly firm as a soft-bristled brush may create an uneven finish.

Powder puff - Use a powder puff to apply loose powder over foundation and touch up makeup throughout the day. For an even matt result, apply powder by pressing, not dragging the powder puff over the skin. Tap any excess powder from the puff onto the back of your hand for a light result.

Lumene - Facial powders always include a powder puff.

Eyelash curler - It is an absolutely essential tool for your makeup. While it may look like a mini medieval torture device, this tool is actually extremely helpful in opening up the eye and adding a dramatic look to any makeup creation. The key when using an eyelash curler is to learn how to hold it.

Other great products to have in your kit include slant tweezers, a brush cleaner and good-quality makeup brushes. With tweezers, the important thing to remember is to buy a pair that has textured ends for easy grip and painless hair removal.

About the Author:

Rachel Broune writes articles for makeup tools . In fact, the hairstyle is among the most defining points of any woman – it can break or make an outfit, a fashion statement, or simply soften an otherwise severe facial feature.

A bride can choose to look like a fairytale princess at her wedding, or she can choose to look like the queen of the castle instead; she can choose an enchanting hairstyle, or she can opt for one that is totally bewitching. She may even choose to go with the more unconventional but daring hairstyle on her wedding day. Whichever she chooses though, you can bet that she would have given much thought and consideration into the fact before choosing a single one!

The princess hairstyle : is one of the most flattering hairstyles that a young bride could choose for her wedding day. Most wedding hairstyles require that the hair be pulled back from the face, and the princess hairstyle is no exception. This is the clean formal look that for years has been the preferred choice among aristocrats and well-off women alike. The princess wedding hairstyle can however be held up or down. Generally though, it is the hairstyle that finds its basis in large but soft waves held back from the face and usually parted at the sides or the center. This hairstyle can work for the bride with long hair or the bride with medium hair. The princess hairstyle can also either be worn with a veil or with a tiara, or both.

The queen hairstyle : is very much like the princess hairstyle with the exception that the hairstyles are more elaborate and may include side bangs to soften the somewhat severe look of aristocracy. Side paths, middle paths, or no paths at all may be used in the hair which could either be loosely pulled back or tightly pulled back. If you choose to go with the tightly pulled back look, then the rest of your hair is best piled in curls at the top of the head. This is a look that again can either go with a veil, a tiara, or both.

All other wedding hairstyles are basically modifications of these two however. With the hair held down, soft waves are the most stylish and fashionable hairdos. Variations of the upswept hair include half up-half down options and fully upswept options. For the fully upswept look, the bride could consider the French knot or variations of the French knot with soft bangs sweeping the forehead.

About the Author:

David Yu writes about
Hairstyles , Bikini and
Handbags for
Idolafashion

Technorati Tags:wedding, short, bridal, hairstyle, hair styles, hair style, hairstyles, wedding hairstyle, women hair, short hairstyle

Stay Safe

Violent Crime does not discriminate between age and race. This encases social, cultural and political movements, theories and moral philosophies that affect women in everyday life. Feminism also takes up the fight against other forms of discrimination.
Some feminists argue that "gendered and sexed identities, such as 'man' and 'woman' are social constructs, meaning that some gender roles are socially conditioned rather than innate."
For many people the feminist movement came in three waves starting from the 19th century to the present day.
The first wave occurred between the 19th and early 20th centuries, starting in the United Kingdom and United States. Their main concerns were with equal contract and property rights for women.
The Suffrage movement began at the end of the 19th century, with the main focus being on gaining political power and the right for women to vote.
The second was during the 1960's and 1970's were cultural and political inequalities were bound together as problem faced by women.
The beginning of the third wave started in the early 1990's to the present day and slams the failure of the second wave. They deem the previous wave to be too focused on the upper middle class white women's views and experiences.
It was argued and still is that through the history of feminism the majority of the leaders have been white middle class women from Western Europe or North America.
Thus alienating women of different colours and races, which was stated in a speech given to US Feminists by ex black slave "Sojourner Truth" in 1851. Sojourner purports that as a black woman she is viewed as even lower than white woman.
Women of other races set up alternative feminist groups which gained more followers in the 1960's civil rights movement in the United States.
Post-colonial and Third World feminism proposed alternatives, with the post-colonial feminist slamming western feminism for being ethnocentric. The definition of ethnocentrism will be discussed in a later article.
In the 1980's feminists realised that an understanding of global issues that also effect women of different races, colours and cultural was essential to understanding gender inequality. In turn this would show that racism, homophobia and classis are intrinsic in society and how they control women.
The Feminist political activists have challenged and brought women issues to the forefront of people's concentions while also creating debate. They changed laws in women right to contract and property and the right to bodily integrity and autonomy. This includes the right for a woman to have an abortion and the right to take and access contraception.
Furthermore they are advocates for the protection of women from domestic violence, rape and sexual harassment. Also rights for women in the workplace and the legal right for maternity leave and equal pay.

About the Author:
BiographyAuthor: Lucy BrookesWebsite: http://www.lucybrookes-writer.co.ukLucy Brookes is a feminist author interested in women studies.

Technorati Tags:feminism

Being Stalked and Being a Nervous Wreck Go Hand in Hand

Paula was biting her nails, fidgeting with her hair and drinking a glass of soda simultaneously while watching television one night. Her stomach gurgled and her appetite just had not been the same lately. She had lost some weight, enough where the girls at work asked her if she was ill.No, Paula was not ill…she was a nervous wreck and had been for three months; she was being stalked. You see, Paula had met a man at work whom she never dated, never led on and never did anything to intrigue or entice. The strange, quiet man just started calling her, getting her number from a work roster sheet, showing up at her apartment complex (God knows where he found her address) and writing her off-the-wall love letters. At first Paula let it go, did nothing and hoped it would blow over, like a bad windstorm. However, nothing changed and the compulsive behavior continued. Calls, visits and letters persisted. Finally, she called the police who told her there wasn’t much they could do. An officer told her to document any and all encounters. Sound advice. However, how about in the meantime Paula thought, how do I get over the awful anxiety I feel every day? And what if he goes over the deep end and kills me?Paula was overwhelmed. She decided to call a local Rape Crisis Center and find out if they could help. And help they did. Paula met a supportive staffer who guided her in all of her encounters and advised her from A to Z in what she should do. She was there for her in every step of the way.Paula utilized a restraining order against her stalker and it worked. Even though restraining orders, statistically speaking, do not work as often as hoped for in stalking cases. Her stalker stopped his obsessive behaviors and finally stopped bothering her…he simply faded out of her life.Slowly, Paula started getting a little calmer, started getting an appetite again and started actually smiling again. There are many similar stories such as Paula’s. Stalking is a terrible ordeal and one that men experience quite often too. Whether you’re a man or a woman get the help and advice of professionals. Call a local Rape Crisis or Battered Women’s Shelter. There, they have experienced staffers who have the knowledge to help you…after all; you really do deserve to smile again.

About the Author:
Steve Kovacs is the author of: Protect Yourself: The Simple Keys Women Need to be Safe and Secure. The sex-positive feminist movement was started in the early 1980’s and was set up in response to anti-pornography feminist. Advocates of the sex- positive movement are Ellen Willis, Susie Bright, Patrick Califia and Gail Rubin.

Catharine Mackinnon, Andrea Dworkin, Robin Morgan and Dorchen Leidholdt were prominent anti-pornography feminists. They believe that pornography is an example of oppression of women, which is opposite to what the sex-positive feminist believe.

Thus creating the beginning of the "Feminist Sex Wars" in the early 1980's.

Gayle Rubin an acclaimed sex-positive feminist purports: "There have been two strains of feminist thought on the subject. One tendency has critized the restrictions on women's sexual behaviour and denounced the high costs imposed on women for being sexually active.

"This tradition of feminist sexual thought has called for liberation that would work for women as well as for men. The second tendency has considered sexual liberalization to be inherently a mere extension of male privilege. This tradition resonates with conservative, anti-sexual discourse."

However some sex-positive feminists are not against other feminists but are attacking the patriarchal control of women's sexuality.

They also purport: " that in the area of sexuality, government blatantly discriminate against women."

The ideology behind sex-positive feminism is sexual freedom of women is essential. They will fight any legislation or social efforts to control individual's sexual activity. Sex-positive feminist will fight the government or other feminist who they see as trying to control people's sexuality.

They believe that as long as it between two consenting adults it is no-one business what you do in your sex life.

Sex-positive feminist are not only for women they support sexual minority groups with the idea of building a united front with groups are who are targeted by sex-negativity.

The male sex is not viewed as the enemy with the sex-positive feminist, instead they welcomed into the group as they acknowledge all of human sexuality.

They believe that pornography should not be over regulated, as it is just another way patriarchal limiting sexual expression.

Some anti-censorship activists, feminist scholars, sex radicals, producers of pornography and erotica are brought together under the umbrella sex-positive feminist ideology.

About the Author:
BiographyAuthor: Lucy BrookesWebsite: http://www.lucybrookes-writer.co.uk/Lucy Brookes is a feminist author interested in women studies.

Technorati Tags:sex-positive feminism

What is Anarcha-feminism?

Anarcha-feminism has also been called anarchist feminism and anarcho feminism. It unites both the ideologies of anarchism and feminism. They hold the view that patriarchy is as a manifestation of an involuntary hierarchy. The anarchist struggle against patriarchy is also an important part of the class struggle against the state. The philosophy behind this view is that the anarchist struggle is a necessary component of the feminist struggle and vice-versa.It has been purported that both anarchism and feminist go hand in hand. As anarchism is a political philosophy that opposes all relationships of power thus making it inherently feminist. The anarcha-feminist is opposed to the traditional concepts of the family, education and gender roles. The state that marriage is an institution that stifles individual growth and that it is primarily an economics arrangement. Which sees women giving up the right to their name, privacy, self-respect and life. They also believe that a non-hierarchal family and educational structure would be the only way to gain an equal society.Anarchist feminism is noted for having both individualistic and collectivism forms, with the individualist being more prominent in the United States. European anarchists concentrate more on the collectivism form.Writer Wendy McElroy sited, " Ifeminism or individualist feminism, combines feminism with anarcho-capitalism or libertarianism."She continues by arguing, "That a pro-capitalist, anti-state position implies equal rights and empowerment for women."Recently in the United States anarcha-feminist circles coined the term "Manarchist" as a pejorative label for male anarchists. They state, "The male anarchists who are dismissive of feminist concerns, who are overtly antifeminist, or who behave in ways regarded as patriarchal and misogynistic."During the late nineteenth and early twentieth century anarcha-feminism was introduced by authors and theorist such as Emma Goldman, Voltairine de Cleyre and Lucy Parsons. An anarchist and feminist group was created in Spain during the Spanish Civil War. The movement was called Mujeres Libres (Free women) and was set up to defend the rights anarchist and feminist ideology. It had been noted that anarcha-feminism is dismissive of third world feminist views and oppressions. This was especially apparent in the fight of the anarcha-feminist in the Middle East, as there issues were not taken in to consideration.

About the Author:
BiographyAuthor: Lucy BrookesWebsite: http://www.lucybrookes-writer.co.uk/Lucy Brookes is a feminist author interested in women studies.

Technorati tags: Anarcha-feminism
