Every girl is treated as a unique individual - worthy of love based on just who she is. Therapy is designed around each girl's individual experiences and needs. This encompasses a variety of activities that address the physical, spiritual, intellectual, and recreational well being of the girls.

The staff knows that healing takes place in connection with others. Thus, their goal is to create an environment in which healing can occur. Each girl is given love, affection and someone to talk with (not at) them. This approach is holistic and life-giving.

From the beginning mercyworks has been a grass roots organization, working in under resourced communities meeting felt needs of the people who live there. They started with food, something we all need everyday; and through their partnership developed the capacity to deliver 450,000 pounds of food into Detroit neighborhoods in their first few years. They continue to do that work every week and now they are adding programs that will help the families they have grown to love.

A hand up and a step out - that's what R2 their substance abuse program and their entrepreneurial programs are all about. As they deliver these programs to their communities in Detroit and Lima, they are able to do just that, bring people up and out of poverty.

Why Guardians for Animals was Founded...

After seeing so many animals needlessly die in shelters across the country, it was clear that a unifying organization was needed to bring together the efforts of countless small no-kill organizations. Everyday they offer this much needed support, utilizing their non-profit umbrella to protect as many animals as possible from a fate that is death.

The rescues are often a death row animals' only hope or survival. Should one small rescue fail, hundreds - even thousands - of animals would perish. Their priority is to reverse this sad fact of life and replace despair with hope and comfort in the eyes of these beautiful and innocent creatures.

Eight to 10 million abused, abandoned and neglected animals enter U.S. Shelters each year. LESS THAN 40% ARE ADOPTED FROM THESE SHELTERS.

Too many are left to die for no reason. Rescue groups are the animals' last hope and the ONLY hope for those innocent animals on death row. GFA helps dedicated, NO KILL rescue groups receive much needed funds, supplies and help with placement of animals in their care. GFA is supported by private and corporate donations. No state or federal funding is received.

What to Expect at Gateway...

When you go to GWA, you will find people all over, from the place you park your car to where you find your seat, who are warm and friendly and ready to serve you in anyway they can.

Their greeters will great you at the door and direct you to whatever part of the building you may need to go to.

If you would like to visit their Holy Grounds Cafe, workers will be available to serve you a hot or cold specialty drink. If you visit their 9:00am cafe service, feel free to keep your drink with you during the service.

You can visit their Information Centre, located in the foyer to get information on all the events going on, as well as to get answers to any questions you may have.

Once you enter the auditorium, greeters will welcome you and an usher will help you find a seat if needed.

There are services for the whole family that include contemporary worship, Biblical teaching, and an opportunity to make a decision to follow Jesus. Their services are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes in length.

Please feel free to come as you are... attire is casual (even jeans).

Who does Angels' Place Serve?

They serve people. They serve people with developmental disabilities who have a primary diagnosis of mental retardation.

They serve people who may need help in order to cope with common life demands and who may not be able to complete some or many of the tasks of daily living that are typically expected of people in their same age group. To be characterized as a developmental disability the onset of the condition is apparent in childhood or before the age of 22.

They serve by treating each person as an individual and their family as vital members of the Angels' Place community.

The Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) is an information and referral service for prospective adoptive parents interested in adopting children with "special needs," and for adoption workers looking for homes for these children.

The MARE website provides a photo listing of waiting Michigan children and of Michigan families interested in adopting children with special needs. The child listings are updated bimonthly, typically at the beginning and end of each month.

MARE is not a placement service -- it does not provide care for waiting children and does not do family home studies. Instead, MARE refers prospective parents to agencies and answers questions they might have about adoption and children with special needs. MARE also provides technical assistance to adoption workers and agencies.

Lillian M. Easterly-Smith is the Founder, Executive Director and Community Care Pastor of LifeCare Chrisitan Center. Lillian's experience spans over 21 years, beginning as a volunteer for Alcoholics for Christ (AC). She served on their board of directors, led support and recovery groups, led worship, organized retreats, and taught in many workshops, seminars and classes. Lillian, along with a volunteer team, developed the curriculum for Adult Children of Dysfunctional Families, which was adopted by AC as one of their core curriculums.

Lillian has served as speaker, teacher and leader of pilot programs, ministries and support groups for victims of various forms of abuse, addictions and dysfunctional family issues as well as counseled individuals and couples. She has volunteered and been employed at two major churches where she oversaw the development of care, support and recovery group ministries which grew from three groups and 12 volunteers, to over 60 groups with approximately 500 attendees each week and included a vibrant lay counseling ministry. Lillian managed to paid staff of nine and a volunteer staff of approximately 300. She holds a degree in Counseling/Psychology and Biblical Studies; is a Licensed Pastor; Licensed, Ordained Chaplain with I.F.O.C. (International Fellowship of Chaplains) and a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor through the International Board of Christian Counselors (American Association of Christian Counselors). She also served as a member on the Board of Directors for a new church plant in downtown Plymouth, and serves on the Board of Jasmund Outreach that focuses on missions in Africa.

Gift of Life Michigan

Gift of Life Michigan, headquartered in Ann Arbor, is the state's only federally designated organ and tissue recovery program, providing all services necessary for organ donation to occur in Michigan. They are a non-profit organization working 24 hours a day all over the state as a liaison between donors, hospitals, and transplant centers.

Gift of Life was incorporated in 1971 by Michigan transplant surgeons to provide a network for sharing kidneys. Today, Gift of Life recovers more than 900 organs every year for transplantation from 300 or more donors, saving hundreds of lives. Bone, skin and other tissue are also recovered, helping to significantly improve the lives of thousands of seriously injured and sick recipients. Gift of Life also works with the Michigan Eye-Bank to manage cornea and eye donation.

In addition, Gift of Life maintains and grows the Michigan Organ Donor Registry in partnership with the Michigan Secretary of State. The registry is a confidential database of state residents who have expressed their desire to someday help others by becoming an organ, eye and tissue donor.

Kids Against Hunger

The mission of Kids Against Hunger, a humanitartian food-aid organization, is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world. Kids Against Hunger is not affiliated with or restricted to a particular religious group and does not discriminate on any basis when distributing its meals. Some of the organization's volunteers and affiliates are driven by their love of God and helping to feed all of His children, but all religions and non-religious groups are welcome to volunteer, donate and help in any way.

Every People, Tribe and Nation is a non-profit missionary/evangelistic ministry, dedicated to sharing the gosple, whose central focus is to preach, teach, equip, and send forth missionaries to nations. We heard from our friend Pastor Mark Shell, heard the story of Tiffany's son and his day to day battle with diabetes, then we had Debbie Brown perform the story of Esther and heard Kim Buffington talk about what is happening in Detroit. Today we have on Author Bill Thrasher. A great day to tune in if you are trying to stay out of the cold and snow.

Feed the World Day Event

This Saturday, October 6th God321 will be broadcasting live from the Feed the World Day event downtown Detroit put on by Kids Against Hunger. Their goal is to package 1,000,000 meals in two days. 500,000 of those meals will be staying in the Detroit area while the other 500,000 meals will be going to RHEMA International for their Haiti Missions. Make sure you tune in to 1500AM or www.faithtalk1500.com at 2:00pm to listen to our broadcast. We are hoping to speak with volunteers packing the meals. This should be a great event and we would love to have you join us by listening to the broadcast.
