Norquist explains that the reason Obama liked Simpson-Bowles plan, was that in the middle of it was a $2 or $3 trillion tax increase over the next decade. There were in theory some spending cuts... BUT:

Freedom of religion is the very first right enshrined in the Bill of Rights. Now the Obama administration has decided that it can do away with Americans' First Amendment rights and force people of faith to live by the dictates of the government instead of the dictates of their consciences...

Senate Republicans call on the Obama administration to rescind its recent ruling which will force religious institutions to pay for (abortion-related) contraceptive services; that would violate their religious beliefs... Our country was built by individuals who came to this continent to practice their religion free of government interference.
