This one popped up on a Google alert. Sounds like it would be a fascinating evening!

"Legendary Songwriter Glenn Frey to be Guest at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Master Session Series at NYU"

The event is described as "part lecture, part performance, and part in-depth interview, concluding with a Q&A."

According to the site, the event is open to "the NYU community, members of the Hall of Fame, and the music community."

When: October 25 at 7:00 pm
Where: NYU's Frederick Loewe Theatre.

Glenn Frey is putting out a new album!!

Glenn said tonight at the Fallsview Casino show that he had been working on an album of covers called After Hours which would contain his interpretations of some favorite songs spanning the decades from the twenties to the sixties. He said it was mostly done and he hoped it would be out around Valentine's Day. More details here.

Glenn becomes involved in "12 Bands - 12 Kids" Cancer Charity Project

The following is excerpted from the Augusta Chronicle:

"In January, 12 Bands launches its 12 Bands-12 Kids campaign. Each month, a musician will be paired with a child fighting cancer. The artists will use their Web sites and social media to share that child's story, raise awareness of pediatric cancer and provide links to donate. The campaign starts with Collective Soul in January, the Zac Brown Band in February and Charlie Daniels Band in March. Glenn Frey will close out the campaign next December."

Glenn turns 62 today. Hope he has a great birthday! He certainly deserves it. Still awesome after all these years! As that little girl next to me in Aspen last month hollered at the Party of Two concert, "KEEP ROCKING GLENN FREY!" (She was too cute!)

In other news, this site is now 5 years old (I officially opened it on Glenn's birthday in 2005). Dang! I might have to make a few changes around here design-wise so it doesn't get stale. Watch this space...

Glenn has been popping up all over the place this past week. In addition to the previously mentioned Lupus Gala where he and Cindy Frey were honored and where he performed with Joe Walsh (see some photos here; more have been posted on The Border), he's been spotted at two Lakers games and participated at the 3rd Annual George Lopez Celebrity Golf Classic (more photos here and posted on The Border). Guess he had to have his fun while he could because the Eagles are playing another spate of shows starting tonight in Vancouver.

Lupus LA bestows "Loop Award" upon Glenn and Cindy Frey

Each year the “Loop Award” is bestowed upon individuals from the entertainment industry for their efforts on behalf of Lupus LA. This year’s recipients, Glenn and Cindy Frey, have supported the mission since its inception—Glenn has even brought his talent to the Lupus LA stage.

I wanted to put it up as fast as possible, so the videos are only in .wmv format rather than both that and .mpg (.mpg takes longer to upload). I should note that the videos are very shaky and low quality - only enjoyable for diehards!

Glenn named chair of Boys and Girls Club of Coachella Valley's Grand Auction

Glenn has long been involved in children's charities including the Boys & Girls Club of America. On March 13, 2010, he will be presiding as the honorary chair of a grand auction to raise money for the Coachella Valley branch.
