We dined here with the lil bro when we were in QC :)

The resto is small and intimate with just around 6 tables and located just above Pino restaurant (2nd floor) along Malingap St.

Interior is very simple but catchy, DIY and rustic always captivates me

I'm not in the mood to eat rice so I ordered something new, something hard for me to replicate at home, so I chose Kalabasa Arrabiata

It was kinda spicy for my taste, the kalabasa noodles was half cooked maybe so it was a bit crunchy

Garlic noodles for M, a bit dry and bland, but at least you have option to add more as you like

When I saw my brother's order, I regret not ordering a rice :/

The three of us were already full there was no room for desserts.

We bought assorted cupcakes for take out, cookies and a slice of their chocolate cake that I forgot to take a photo.

PS: As I started my vegan journey, many ask if it is difficult.

I actually find it easy maybe because I always remember why I started.

But I also need a lot of inspiration so I followed a lot of vegan accounts on Instagram and it helps a lot. The good thing is, there are also now a lot of stores that offer vegan alternatives, from cakes to pizzas.

I feel thankful to business owners who keep innovating and making their products accessible to vegans. 👍

Staycation at Acacia Alabang

We received an early christmas present = free one night stay @ Acacia Alabang :)

So one weekend, we got a chance to try this after we attended a kiddie party all the way from San Pablo.

We had dinner somewhere in SLEX and arrived late that night.

I find the room is spacious for 2

There are some food and drinks but we brought our own because we have a mission to watch some movies ;p

Our room was on 3rd floor where the pool is located so the next morning we can hear the splash and buzz from the pool.

We really don't mind but you may take note of this when making a reservation.

As we have started our Vegan lifestyle, we filled our plates with fruits and veggies for breakfast.

Holidays 2017

It's only been 2 months since M and I changed to a vegan lifestyle.

My family is very supportive with this and so allowed me to suggest what we will have for our Noche Buena ;p

I helped in preparing the pasta. Mom cooked the Tomato Spaghetti sauce with Tofu and Mushrooms while I am in charged of preparing the Pesto sauce.

And also this Mango Vinaigrette Salad dressings from Gourmet Farms when we went to Merkado Supermarket :)

2016 was the year we changed our lifestyle:

1. We no longer go to movie house. We just rent from GooglePlay, iTunes or Amazon.

That's 150 pesos versus 1k (500 for the tickets and 500 food for the 2 of us)

2. We minimize eating out, less food trips.

3. The money we save from not going to movie dates and food trips? we donate it to animal welfare groups :)

4. and it also means more budget for our rescued dog Boni 💓

5. Going Vegan became easy for us because we were already eating less meat or being a pesco-ovo-vegetarian for a long time.

After our brunch @ Designer Bloom's cafe, just a few steps away,

we found a healthy neighborhood grocer :)

It's like Healthy Options store for our local products.

Or more like, Echo Store

And they carry a lot of products - some are familiar and others I haven't heard of.

I just bought some of our staples from Echo store so on our trip here, I only bought 1 tray of their organic eggs.

we're looking for a resto in molito when we noticed some guys leaving this place with a bouquet of flowers.

I thought it's only a flower shop but the signage says Designer Blooms "Cafe"

I was not able to update this space for a while.

Got very busy and all I wanna do on weekend is to do nothing ;p

One weekend, we drove to Laguna for sis-in-law and grandma-in-law(is there such a term?hehe) birthdays.

It was just a simple celebration over lunch in their new house.

For dessert, I've got to taste this Avocado ice cream for the first time and it is good. :)

After that we drove back to our house to celebrate my youngest bro 19th birthday

We bought Mernel's cake for him :)

I got a chance to eat a lot of sushi and maki for a colleagues birthday treat at yakimix :)

One weekend, we went to Salcedo Market.

I ordered Pinangat na Gabi in one of the stalls.

I just realize I love anything with gata :)

We also bought this Pili Butter :)

I used to love butter on pandesal but since we are staying away from dairy products, this is a good alternative.

At the last week of this month I got stomach flu and was not feeling well for almost a week.

Last month I have dry cough that lasted for weeks so my mom gave me Lagundi.

I guess my immune system got weak as I now wake up very early in the morning. :/

One of the awesome way to celebrate a birthday is to share your blessings to others :)

I'm happy that my bro is trying to teach this to their daughter at a very young age.

Last year we celebrated it at Teresa Orsini Homes which I blogged about here

(although of course I think my 2yo niece is too young to grasp the idea back then ;p)

This time, it was just a very simple celebration, no programs nor games.

The kids welcomed us, said their prayer and then we feast on homecooked food of spaghetti, pansit, hotdogs, etc.

It was only a gathering of our families but they still sent out this invitation.

The place has its own chapel and it's quite spacious.

It took us 3.5 hours trip on a Sunday morning.

The kids are mostly boys of age 3-10, I think.

My wish for my niece and for the kids in this place is that they grow up as a wise, strong and a God-fearing person..

Furry Love: Boni

When Snowbell came into our life, I became aware of things that are related to dogs including facebook groups/sites of animal welfares. I didnt realize that there are animals in need every single day.

In one of the fb groups I follow, I stumbled upon "Mandy's" photo and I felt uneasy. He was named Mandy bec he was found in Boni Mandaluyong, later on he was renamed to Boni.

I contacted Ronald De Castro of Deparo Shelter and also Renz whom we met up to get Boni.

We first took him to a vet (Pet Society) in pasig. But they were not very gentle in handling him so Boni was not cooperating. I really don't recommend that vet clinic.

He was clearly emaciated and infested with tick and fleas.

We keep a bottle of Fipronil that we use for snowbell's maintenance so we used that to spray on him.

We also sprayed Iozin that the vet recommended.

I really hope to nurse him back to health by giving him natural and healthy food.

I prepared the same food that I feed to snowbell: liver or chicken with carrots, turmeric and malunggay powder. (I started to buy malunggay powder bec julia spit outs veggies :/)

2nd week, his skin condition improved and we were able to gave him a bath.

We used the Madre de Cacao soap that I purchased from PGAP

Just a lot of TLC and healthy food, I'm sure he'll be okay soon :)

It's our 1st wedding anniv so we planned a batangas getaway with these two :)

Surprisingly, Julia behaved well and just slept comfortably while Snowbell looked uneasy and was awake for the entire trip

We left the resort at around 9AM. Our stay was great and food was ok too. We did not go for a swim. We just enjoyed our time with these two and lots of sleep too. It was very tiring to go from one hut to another(reception, dining) bec. of the steep stairs so I would say that the place is not advisable for the elderly.

Who's excited?

Island cove allowed Pets - but they must wear diapers, available at the resort for P35

We arrived there at around 9AM and there were no more hut available so we rented tables and chairs for P100 and chose a shaded area.

M and I took turns on looking after Snowbell

We stayed in the pool for almost 3 hours then went to the Fishing Village for our lunch.
Yummy pinakbet and a platter of seafood Inihaw :)

We rode a bike on or way to sanctuary park which is a good decision because we realized it was too far to walk and it's too hot!

@the sanctuary - we fed the ostriches, got amazed with different birds and went to their crocodile farm which was a bit scary,

All we can say is that sulit na ang aming voucher from metrodeal ;p

We celebrated my inaanak's party last Easter sunday in lucban :)

His parents chose the date to have a pool party theme as the town celebrate the "Buhusan" festival.

When M told me about this tradition, I thought there are people throwing water along the road.

I didn't know they also setup inflatable pools in front of their houses, kids having fun with waterguns and most of the people are wearing rashguards / swimmng outfit. :)

I love our traditional pinoy birthday parties - with hotdog on sticks + marshmallows, home-cooked foods and games like Pabitin and basagan ng palayok, neighborhood kids - it brings back childhood memories ;p

Celebrated our friend's birthday @ Casa Verde Megamall :)

Huge servings for affordable price (about 200+ per dishes). For a group of 4, (3 of which are heavy eaters ;p), I would say sulit naman na.

The place was packed during dinner time but we were there early so we got a good seat in the corner.

We bought pizza and cake from Contis (para maiba hindi puro Mernels, pero lasa naman siyang Mernels!)

(While eating, I thought, gagayahin ko nga 'to, looks easy to prepare (w/o the chicken ;p))

For some reason, my favorite food this month is maki.

I made several attempts at home - with mangoes, cucumber, lettuce - any ingredient available.

I made a large batch of this to eat at home and as packed lunch (every week of Feb O_o )

When we were in Megamall, we spotted a Japanese stall in foodcourt, of course, I ordered california maki :)))

This is M's order. In fairness ok naman.

Divisoria

Went to Divisoria again with a friend, bought some stuff from the streets, new divisoria mall and 168 mall. We scored some really good stuff like my vneck plain white and gray tshirts for only Php50 each, Socks for P25, bras 50 each = I bought 6! Shopping galore! Lolz

We ate at Wai Ying where I had mushroom dumplings and we shared the Hakaw.

And happy to bought Broccoli for only Php50 and Asparagus Php35

And just like that Feb just ended, it is a leap year so we have Feb 29! :)

We tried Project Pie for lunch with my younger bro.

Looks like he enjoyed customizing his pizza. While M was not feeling adventurous, he just chose one from the menu.

It starts with the sauce, red or white, then the choices of toppings begin. From cheese to meat to veggies - all for P285

As for me, red base, no cheese, tomatoes, pineapple, bellpepper, chicken, basil, caramelised onion.

Project Pie G/F Megamall

VDay 2016

We started our Valentines day by watching a movie - Deadpool, such a silly and funny movie, it gave me headache literally. We left without waiting for the end of credits scene, we just watched it on youtube. We strolled around Eastwood, ate pizza and fries in SnR and we claimed M's krispy kreme freebie from his Smart plan which reminds me I have to check mine too.

The next day, Sunday, we went out to have our ePass changed to RFID for free in Petron Shaw then we went to Capitol Commons afterwards to use M's starbucks card ( a christmas present he received).

We decided we won't be spending a lot for this holiday and to add it to our donation for the several animal welfare groups in FB that I followed - PAWA, SaveAll, LBAAW, PART, AFK. I am moved by their efforts on solving the situations of our furry friends. We hoped that we have spread our love to them in our own small and simple way.

Hello February

Sometimes I also get tired of eating my home-cooked meals haha
January was a very busy month for me so I tried cooking in batch "cook once, eat twice".
I'm glad M didn't complain anyway he doesn't have a choice ;p

So for a break, I told M I wanted to eat a good, delicious meal plus it's also our monthsary ;p
And our "san tayo kakain? kahit saan" dilemma brought us to Tenya.

It was busy month after all. We were out all weekends.

But it was an amazing month as I've spent time with special friends and also make new ones.

I can't forget our experience in PCAS that I shared here and I will continue to support animal welfare groups.

Last year, I told myself to fulfill the need of my body, mind, spirit.

On my Instagram and FB, I followed inspirational accounts, play praising songs (mostly from Hillsong), read personal development books.

Looking back, there have been a lot challenges and I would say I learned a lot.

I'm not the type who really set specific life goals but I will continue and hope to improve again this year :)

30th Birthday and a day at PCAS

I turned 30! :))))

It was M's birthday a few days before me and we just had a simple celebration for him.

A bucket of chicken joy (free from BPI lolz) and our fave donut.

Then came saturday with my family, we had a simple lunch feast and merienda.

For our celebration, I just wanted a simple and meaningful one so we booked a visit PCAS (Paws and Claws Animal Sanctuary) in Bulacan. We brought some donations and also our cake to share with their staff. I'm also very excited to see our sponsored dog Vino ( they changed his name to Leo) but the name "Vino" already stuck in my mind.

The staff are very accommodating. They even bought softdrinks and sang "Happy Birthday" for us :)

I do hope that they walk every single dog outside of their kennels to minimize the need to clean the kennels everyday. We were not able to bring some cleaning materials, I think they need a lot of those - detergents, gloves, sponge, garbage bags etc.

I would say, it was a nice, inspiring and opening experience for me.

It was a great stress reliever and I felt ready to take on the week.

It inspired me to be more, to give more.

Seriously, even if we don't have the means to adopt a pet for now, we can sponsor, donate or volunteer. This kind of non profit organization relies heavily on donations so we really need to help them so they can also help a lot of furry friends.

Welcome 2016

Our original plan was to celebrate the NYE with his family but M was not feeling well so we stayed first with my family. We arrived at around 9PM of NYE so I was not able to help my mom in the preparation.

Media Noche - Carbonara, Grilled fish, Lechon Kawali, Suman, Potato fries (Mojos kunwari), Biko, Suman and for desserts: Buko Salad, Leche flan, Graham cake

The next morning, we traveled to Luisiana and poor Snowbell got tummy ache.

We were very worried good thing she was already ok the next day.

Time for Sherlock's New Year special too :)))

Aside from my Excel planner and online calendars, I still like to write my todos.

I bought my desktop calendar from one of the groups I follow:

Los Baños Advocates of Animal Welfare (LB-AAW)

it only cost P150 and proceed will goes to LB dog pound.

and then my daily todo list mini notebook from Papemelroti.

Christmas 2015

A few days before Christmas, we watched Star Wars in Robinsons Galleria.

They have a promo of free photobooth when you buy a pair of ticket :D

I love that the movie was light and wholesome.

We are not fanatics, in fact I already forgot what happen from the last trilogy so we need to watch those again.

I tried to avoid the christmas rush plus traffic by starting to complete my presents wayback November.

I bought some from Human Nature as always, then wrap them with recycled, paper bags from HHN too. And the matching tag comes from Papemelroti, so cute.

After N years, hello puto bumbong.

One can really feel the christmas spirit when eating this festive kakanin :)

Our noche buena as always, spaghetti, chicken bbq, pork bbq, macaroni salad and my mom also cooked potato chips while I added cucumber sticks and made the ketchup + mayo dip. :D

M spent the eve of Christmas with us and then we went to their house the next day 25th.

after christmas.......

someone was very, very tired from road trip and all stress. ;p

at least she got a stuffed toy as a present

Only a few days before Christmas!

It's the time of the year where I am in a lookout for my next year's planner.

I love writing my Todos, writing events and crossing dates on my planners, yeah not just one.
It just the matter of discovering what will work for you.

My current 2015 mini-planner is from Papemelroti, and I have separate notebook where I write my daily Todos. I also use Excel to plan and outlook calendar online.

I also discovered that desk calendar are also very helpful.
I wanted to make sure that I use my time wisely :)
