Goodbye 2013, Hello New Year

It's obviously been months since I sat in front of my laptop and wrote something other than research papers. Since February, I've grown a couple inches, cried a few tears, fought threw a few sicknesses, and stumbled on stairs that I've climbed everyday for eleven years. My hair has turned purple and faded into orange. I've transitioned my room into a typical seventeen-year-old hangout; decorated with band posters, signatures of British males, Christmas lights, and spray paint. As my Senior year closes, I stress about Universities. How will I feed myself? Will my anonymous roommate be weird? So....many....boys.... Oh, college. 2013 has been labeled as something to grow upon. It seems as if my face was complimented often. I can only get older and wrinkly.

There's so many choices to make. I can decide to travel the world. I can disappoint my parents. I can be a role model for my siblings. I can meet friends in Australia. I can get lost in the middle of the ocean. I can do whatever I want because I'm a free soul. We all are.

In two hours, I will head to the last day of 2013. I'm so grateful for everyday I live and I've learned to respect people who surround me, much more. Be good to me, 2014. I look forward to you.

I made this collage myself. I'm quite proud of it considering it literally look three hours to make with cropping and researching. Phew....

One of the most popular hair colors at the moment are the pastel washes. This look has appeared in fashion magazines, runways, award shows, etc.. Popular ladies rocking this hairstyle includes Perrie Edwards, Lou Teasdale, Jade Thirlwall, Katy Perry, Kelly Osbourne, Ashley Olsen, the list goes on...

How to achieve this look

Light Rinse
To achieve this look without bleach, you have to have fairly light base or very light natural streaks in your hair. Dark hair will require bleach.
The easiest way to do this is mix the colored dye of your choice with your conditioner. Apply it evenly throughout your hair and wrap it in elastic. Doing this prevents patchy application and keeps the color in your hair.

A UK favorite brand is Directions Hair Colour pots.

An American favorite is the Manic Panic Semi-Permanent Colors

Chalk Application
Using chalk is the easiest washable technique to experiment with pastel hair. Using soft pastel chalks and a spray bottle, spray a piece of your hair. Using your chalk, color the damp piece of hair in a downwards motion. To lock it in, use heat to set the color. Kandee Johnson goes into detail on how to chalk your hair.

I personally have not attempted the light rinse semi-permanent hair. If you are planning on bleaching or putting the semi-permanent in your hair, be sure to do more research. I have tried the chalk applications many times and it's ultimately an easy way to avoid committing to a color you won't want in your hair tomorrow. This trend is hitting the streets with high fashion pastel streaks. Achieve the look and be sure to document the lovely colors. It's fun, edgy, and ultimately a great hair experiment!

DIY Bow Bandeau

Hello fellow beauties!

I've just recently ran across so many easy and stylish DIY projects to show you all! Spring is just around the corner! Last night I was inspired by a very popular picture on Tumblr of a bow-like denim bandeau that was dyed purple. I was determined to come up with something similar... and boy did I!
This is what I created...

Let's get started.

Step 1

Step 1- You're going to take a pair of jeans that are out of shape and you can't donate. (Mine were completely broken) Cut off about 15 inches, depending on the size of your bandeau. I chose from the knee down but my jeans are very long. Assuming you cut off the both sides of the jeans, cut them in half and choose the side with the less seam. The remaining piece should be one.

Step 2

Make sure to cut off the end, and sides of the jeans where the seam is, as shown above..

step 3

Step 3- Be sure to cut a long, piece from the jeans that will be used later. (About 12 inches long and 2 inches wide)

Step 4

Step 4- A certain fringe will appear from your cutting. You can leave it, perfect it, or make it something different as you choose.

Step 5

Step 5- I chose to run scissors back and forth of the edges to create a the look below.

Step 6

Step 6- Lay a bandeau flat. A plane bandeau is preferred but I only had a lacy one to choose from.

Step 7

Step 7- Lay your piece of jean fabric over the bandeau by how you want to place it. It's best to have some of it coming off the edges to give the bow-like effect.

Step 8

Step 8- Take the long piece cut earlier from step 3.

Step 9

Step 9- Take the piece and pull it underneath the first layer of your bandeau.

Step 10

Step 10- Scrunch up the piece and tie it tightly underneath.

Your bandeau should currently look like this

Step 11

Step 11- Make sure to have safety pins nearby.

Step 12

Step 12- Pin the first layer of the bandeau to the top edge of the denim.

I pushed it through and immediately pulled it back in to show the least possible pin.
*Tip- To avoid the safety pins from being the attention, you can paint them the color of your denim.

This should be similar to the back of your bandeau.

And your final look should be...

Top two edges pinned creating a bow-like effect.

Of course, you can spice up the denim by dying it, adding jewels, designs, sparkles, whatever floats your boat! If you don't like the idea of the denim hanging off the bottom as a bow, you can cut and pin the denim to fit your bust. (The first and last pictures are examples of the denim pinned.) I plan on creating many more and adding fun dyes to the fabric to make it more me! If you make one, tweet me or comment below pictures and questions! I'd love to see them! x

The Carrie Diaries Outfit 1

I'm starting a new "happy I'm in 2013 but wishing the 80's style was in" saga. Watching The Carrie Diaries on CW has inspired me tremendously to begin new trends and shadow the style of the 80's. Carrie Bradshaw is so inspirational and quite trendy herself. I've taken little bits and pieces out of the character's wardrobes and put them into a few everyday looks.

This was my outfit at school today. I've taken high white socks and added them with black leggings, combat boots, and a purple sweater. I've also incorporated bead bracelets into the look.

I wasn't ready... but it make it's point!

I did manage to step into something brown... yuck!

I have so many more ideas and little tweaks to throw in my outfits the rest of the week. Stay tuned!

Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes Review

Picking up a few necessities from the store, I came across a sample of 5 cleansing towelettes by a brand called Ponds, connected to a Q-Tips box. I finally have tried it out and I must say- this product may be pushing into my overall favorite face cleansing items!

I usually have much trouble finding cleansing products due to my uncooperative skin. I have such oily acne-prone skin. Most cleansing wipes burn my face or irritate it in some way. It's almost impossible to find something suitable which is why I was shocked.

I am so pleased with the quality. When you first open the packaging and take a wipe out, it's completely soaked with cleanser. No dry spots! The smell of these towelettes are refreshing and delightful to smell after a long day of school.

When I come home from school, the first thing I do is go to my room, change into comfortable clothes, put my hair up, and take off my makeup. Throughout the day, my fresh matte skin turns into a blotchy, oily cake. Not so yummy.

After cleaning my face, the wipe was a complete new color. Everything was taken off my face and I am satisfied. After trying this sample, I am definitely returning to the store to buy the full product.

Moon Cycle: New Beginnings and Goals

Each month a full moon occurs. These moons each have a name that native tribes gave to them.

This upcoming month is one of my busiest months yet. I have relatives from across the country coming, many concerts, and so many new sales and upcoming clothing lines that I'm dying to dig into. I decided to write down my February Wish list to give you all ideas and of course, accomplish mine!

Ed Sheeran Concert Merch  ♥
I am unfortunate that I'm not able to attend Ed's concert this month. I'm absolutely shuttered and It took a few weeks to cry over but transportation has been a huge problem. A good friend of mine is indeed attending it so I've planned to pay her to bring me concert merch back.

Job Interview  ♥
Non-stop searching for a decent job in my town has been a disaster. I'm hoping everything will turn around and I'll get at least a job interview!

New Clothing  ♥
So many new clothing lines and essentials are opening up in the month of February. I'm dying to get my paws on a pair of Doc Martens. I'm especially excited for the opening of Kendall and Kylie Jenner's new clothing line from Pacsun.

It is saying much considering I just officially started my Youtube Channel a few days ago but I'm hoping to increase my video-making rate and grow an audience.

Today was my grandpa's birthday party. I was getting ready to do my makeup when I figured I should document what I'm doing to show you guys!

Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour Palette

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Apply to Eyelid with ring finger

Ballet Pink in the Palette

Apply to inner half of the eye, Under eyebrows, and in the tear duct.

Terracotta

Apply to second half of eyelid and crease

I tend to curl my eyelashes before applying eyeliner

Apply black eyeliner to waterline and inner rim. Don't go all the way to the corner.

Do the same to the top. Stop at the middle of your pupil.
The focus is to exaggerate the corners of your eyes.

Take a black eyeshadow and an eyeliner brush

Darken and avoid eyeliner meltdown, push over the eyeliner.

Apply desired amount of mascara

Your look is complete

Flu Outbreak and Blog Design

If you were oh so lucky enough NOT to catch the flu yet, I solute you, my friend. As I recall, I was just ill during Christmas! And yet again, I caught the one of the biggest outbreaks we've had in America. Of course.

Sunday morning I woke up feeling absolutely great. I got up and ate a lovely breakfast my dad made. Eggs, bacon, hash browns, cinnamon rolls, croissants, the whole nine yards. We got dressed and headed to my grandparents house. I started feeling extremely uncomfortable in the car. My body was aching and my neck was cringing. It was strange but I didn't think much of it but an unpleasant car ride.
I then arrived and started shaking like mad and getting colder and colder. I had to take my grandmothers warmest fleece clothes, put them on over my outfit and wrap up under a blanket- still I couldn't get warm. When I got home, I went to bed.

Then from there I knew I was sick. After 3 days of pure misery my mom took me to doctors to tell me I caught the flu and I have to let my body fight it off itself. (It lasts up to 10 days)...
I've missed a week of school which will be rubbish trying to catch up on with all of my AP classes.

So here I am, day 5.

I've managed to watch over fifty movies and go through hundreds of tissues. My poor Twitter app has had so many refreshes.

After looking through my blog a zillion times this past week, I've come to the conclusion that I want a change. I have such a rad layout planned with a new header and icons but I'm waiting for a helpful friend to read my emails.

In the meantime, I'll just be sitting here, watching old Disney shows, blowing my nose, and wishing these 10 days would move along a little quicker. Please drink tons of water, take your vitamins, and wash your hands!

Here's my status...

It's been a few days since I've blogged and there quite a few reasons for that....
I've got the format basically how I love it, (thanks to the lovely Katarina).
I have a few tweaks to add in the next week or so but I've decided what theme my blog is going to be about.

Fashion, Beauty, DIY, Life.

School has been hectic lately. Keeping up with grades and University requirements have pushed me head over heels. That term has never made sense to me... Your head IS physically over your heels? Until now, I've never felt so stressed enough to use that term.

I'm starting my Youtube Channel in the next few weeks and I'm extremely excited to do so! It may be a total failure or an exciting accomplishment but being a beauty guru is something I've always wanted to do. I love to interact with people and get a sense of what beauty is considered as around the world.

Also, I have a notebook full of exciting posts and DIY projects to come! They'll be posted always on my Twitter account when finished as well as my Youtube channel and of course, here!

2013 New Year Resolutions

2012 flew by. I thought the world was suppose to end in December, however I do recall my science teacher telling me that the Mayans were off the calendar by 7 years. Nobody knows whether it's 7 years in the future or past. 2020 or 2006... hmm.... Well I'll take 2013 as a treasure. My family and I are alive and healthy- what more could you ask for in life?

The first week of 2013 just ended so I figured I'd share some of my New Year's Resolutions that I haven't broke quite yet. I'm rubbish at keeping them so this year, I set my goals realistic.

♥ Take more pictures.

My goal is to take at least 2 pictures a week. I really don't have many exciting pictures to flaunt 2012. Taking pictures of objects or moments seem to be weak point.... more like lazy but I prefer to call it weak. I do treasure the moment of seeing One Direction in concert in the summer. I still recall holding an obnoxious sign outside the venue with my best friend. Liam and his girlfriend Danielle saw the poster, pointed and cracked up laughing. It was quite amusing but I've been bummed since the security gaurd took my poster to put with the boy's backstage. I forgot to put my twitter name or some kind of identification that I exist on it! Very disappointing but I have the memory to keep me from anger.

♥ Drink more water.

I'm the worst at keeping hydrated. This year I'm hoping to eliminate any acne on my face and feel healthier just in general. Aiming for AT LEAST 3 glasses of water a day is an improvement in my lifestyle. Trust me... which brings me to my next resolution.

♥ Healthier eating choices

Okay backing up any statistics, most Americans are not in shape. It's definitely unrealistic to set your goal high like most do, "I'm going on a diet, the gym everyday, and not eat anything unhealthy. I'm going to lose so much weight." NO. That isn't going to last for 365 days. Take it from the hundreds of people who discontinue their gym trips after January. I'm personally going to achieve this goal by making healthier choices when they are present. For example, If I'm given the choice to eat fish or grilled cheese, Salmon will win.

♥ Be more organized

It's definitely safe to say that I'm an organized student when It comes to education and my studies. My bedroom is another story. The longest I've kept my room tidy is a few days- then I decide what to wear. It honestly just makes me feel rubbish and not want to do relax because my room is dirty. Relaxation is something I dreadfully need all the time!

♥ Stress Less

I'm the type of person to stress about little things. Everything bothers me and makes me anxious if I don't have it all in homeostasis. Definitely a weakness in everyday life but this year I'm trying new things. Thinking positive about everything is key. Don't sweat the little things. Life is about the overall picture and what you create your self to be!

♥ Say Yes

A social life completely flooded down the toilet for me in 2012. I was booked with studying and long nights of updating myself when I quickly realized, I really don't have any close friends anymore. It wasn't until a girl noticed my homemade One Direction folder. (This was before they were known in America so It was a huge deal). My anxiety levels quickly raised last year due to stress and my physical state so I'm sure to relax myself this year. I'm now going to try to say yes to an opportunity every week. I'm hoping to gain a social state back into my life. I was much happier than.

♥ Blog More

Yes, I've officially started to blog more often which is magnificent for my future. I need some kind of rant site to express my love and appreciation for beauty products, trends, life, and One Direction. At least twice a week is my goal!

I hope some of these resolutions inspired you to create some and improve the new you. Everyday is a treasure. Embrace it and give it your full attention.

School Makeup Bag Essentials: Winter Edition

After two weeks of sleeping in until noon, its time to wake up to the moon. Literally...
School is back on and I've set up my school bag, binder, and makeup bag with 5 minutes to spare before bed. I'm exhausted, however, I have a strong feeling that I won't be getting much sleep tonight due to my exotic sleeping schedule the past couple of weeks.

I've decided to show you my makeup bag essentials in the winter for school. This may vary depending on your self-maintence, skin type, and needs.

ELF Oil Blotting Sheets, Shine Control powder, Ecotools contractible powder brush

Cocoa Butter Chapstick and Mac Lipgloss
(I usually use YES TO Carrots as a chapstick)

Compact mirror and Eyedrops for contacts

Gum, Candy, Cough Drop, Band-Aid, and Hand Sanitizer

Fruity Perfume, Hand Cream, and Travel Moisterizer

It may seem much to you but like I mentioned, we all have our own needs! I use specific items in the winter to fit my changing skin and desires. Winter or not, my skin is always oily so I have to keep blotting sheets and powder nearby. It frequently blot three times a day. I usually carry minty gum and Yes To Carrots chapstick with me however, I couldn't find those two items last minute before bed.

As for my entire school luggage, I carry a binder and a bag with me everywhere. It's tiring, yes... but I'm content AND my high-maintence reptile winter skin is too!

Sleep and Stress seems to be the two dilemmas I run into often. After being in a few medical classes for school, I've opened my interest in the power of aromatherapy.
There are so many natural healing gifts that come out of scents.

Sleep

I've spent countless nights inspecting every crease on my bedroom ceiling. I discovered ways to close my eyes and convince my mind to shut down for a good night rest.

Bath and Body Aromatherapy line

These are the lotions to try if you need to relax. I can't begin to tell you how these scents have truly saved me on nights I need to fall asleep for a big exam the next day.

There is an app you can download on your smartphone or ipod that allows you to listen to natural sounds-

It allows you to choose sounds shown above and combine them to create the perfect sleeping
tool. The free version also features an alarm and timer that automatically shuts off for your chosen
listening time.

Avoid blue lights as it disturbs the natural melatonin trying to get you to sleep!

Christmas Eve Craze

Christmas Eve is one of my favorite days of the year. I had to beg my sister to walk away from the cookies and take a picture of me. I usually go all out on Christmas Eve and wear sweats on Christmas. I was unlucky this year and developed a cold for Christmas... Sweats it is!

I paired a white button-up top blouse with high waisted black shorts, black tights and oxfords.
For jewelry, I wore pearl earrings, a silver ear cuff and a Tiffany & Co. ring.
A berry bold lip tied it all together!

I hope everyone's Christmas is the best! I'm bringing out the tea and throat tamer.

Starbucks Fever

Attention: a common fever has landed..

So basically, my taste buds have a mind of their own. A Green Tea Latte seems to be the typical vaccine.

I spent all night discovering a 'Starbucks Secret Menu' .... YES! A SECRET MENU! Everything from a Cookies N Creme Frappachino to Raspberry Cheesecake Frappe.

Technically, you can't walk up to the barista and ask for the Nutella Frappachino, considering it's not an official drink. Special combinations of ingredients have been mixed together to create the sensation.

Before this turns into a gaudy English vocabulary list...

I was sitting in class today, daydreaming about love, the future, and One Direction when I came across an ancient article on lucid dreaming. The ability to control your dreams. Controlling dreams may be dangerous in my case. My teenage brain would overload on prints, spikes, fashion, relationships, tea, Harry Styles, concerts, more Harry Styles, and countless others.

Wallflower is a term I've been obsessed with, other than mint. Mint meaning a wonderful, Northern English term used on Geordie Shore. Why not take a wallflower and create a lucid life pattern? Control your shyness; free the inner color within and let it radiate through the sky; call to the moon, stars, sea turtles that swim in dark.
