I shall finish my Europe trip's posts since it almost 5months already. Hahaha.. Even though now I have nothing to do, but to finish an entry it takes so much courage to do. Sigh.

UK part III : Camera Obscura, Edinburgh, Scotland

Assalamualaikum, salam sejahteraaaa.. Kepada anda semua moga bahagia~~ Hehe.. Intro kasik nyanyi sket la :D How's your Ramadhan going so far? Ramadhan here in Egypt is a bit challenging for me because of it's hot weather in summer, plus the pre-internship program that we have to be involved. And I currently doing my HO training(wink) in ER which known as the busiest department all over the time. The doctors in that department are also rigid :D They won't allow us to go back early unless it is 5pm :| But I did escape sometime though :D..

Okay lah. Did you guys aware of my picture above? :D :D Well, that was me in Camera Obscura, Edinburgh, Scotland. We went to Edinburgh on April 8th at 11pm and arrived in St. Andrew bus station around 8.15am. However, the 8hours journey fade away just like that as we had this for our breakfast. Tee Heee :D

A camera obscura (meaning literally "darkened chamber") is a device for projecting an image on a screen, using either a lens or pinhole.

History of Camera Obscura :

The first record of the camera obscura principle goes back to Ancient Greece, when Aristotle noticed how light passing through a small hole into a darkened room produces an image on the wall opposite, during a partial eclipse of the sun. However, it may be much older than that. Stone age man may have used the principle of the camera obscura to produce the world's first art in cave drawings.
Later on, in the 10th Century, the Arabian scholar Al Hassan used the camera obscura to demonstrate how light travels in straight lines. In the 13th Century, the camera obscura was used by astronomers to view the sun.
In Victorian times, much larger public camera obscuras became popular seaside attractions, where spying on courting couples became a popular pastime.

There was 10% less for student price. We reached to this place by walking. Pfffftttt... It was soooooo tiring to the max you know as we had to climb all our way up to the Camera Obscura because it is located on the top of the hill. Nasib baik tak tergolek ke belakang balik sebab perut dah berat dengan Nasi Lemak. Heshhh.. Ini semua gara2 pakcik bus tu la yang told us, " There's no bus going to Obscura. You can just walk along that road and within 5minutes you'll reach there" IT WASN'T 5MINUTES Y'ALL BESIDES THERE WAS ACTUALLY A BUS GOING NEAR TO THAT PLACE. Haiiyyyooo..

The hell. Cakap banyak gambar takda kan. Haha.. Let's troll peeps.!

Sampai2 terus naik tingkat 5. Why? Because Camera Obscura will be starting soon. :D

But not as soon as we thought. Haihh..

UK part II : Thorpe Park

Are you an adrenaline junkie? Love to ride all the rides in the theme park? If you're the one then let's be my teammate.! Hahhahaa. Atiyyah also that type of person but she's a lil bit less crazy than me. I mean, my level of obsession to these activities is superb.! Hahaha.. It's the truth. I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee every single ride that provided in the park. The more extreme the ride is, the happier I am. Hohoho..

Thus, Atiyyah booked 2 tickets for us to 'melempias' our 'nafsu' towards these crazy rides at Thorpe Park. And unfortunately, we made the booking in Saturday plus it was Easter holiday too.! Geezzzz.. Double holidays in a day thus the people there will be double too. Haihh..

So, as early as 7am we went to station and headed to London Waterloo Station. And from there, the train will straight to Staines Station, which is the nearest station to Thorpe Park. And there will a coaster to pick us up to reach the park. While we were in the train, we saw lots of kids, yeah, even teens looked were so excited. I said to Atiyyah "Tiya, ramainye budak2 dalam train ni. Dorang mesti nak pergi Thorpe Park jugak" Hell yes dude.! When we arrived there, there were bunch of kids/teens/parents waiting for a coaster just like us.! Oh Emm Gee.! We thought we weren't gonna make it to the park. But alhamdulillah, we made it. Hewhewhew..

But, .............................

AS WE EXPECTED. 5minutes later, the queue was even longer than this. Hahaha.. The 'abang2' worker had to ask the people to queue like a snake. Lebih kurang macam W shape la. Hahaha

Toink toink. We were almost there. Weee *excited mood activated*

I missed this park so much. I wish I can come here again. Huwaaaaaaaaa :((

The Swarm, a Wing Coaster that opened on 15 March 2012. It is themed as an apocalyptic destruction.
A new ride in the park. Dan kami antara orang pertama yg merasmikannya. Hohoho..
I give 3.5 stars to it. I waited for about 1 hour meh to ride this one. Pffttt..

Colossus

Then we tried Colossus
Colossus, an Intamin multi-looping roller-coaster with a record breaking 10 inversions.


Colossus. The best roller coaster I ever ride. Thumbs up. 5 stars


Then this one. Looks simple and ain't scary aye? But the truth, it is f**ing scary like hell. I felt like I was going to fall down when I was at the top. cried*

After playing and waiting, we were so hungry. We found our spot and ate fried rice that we cooked at home *saving mode* plus this little donuts. Yummyy

Then... Hahahaha.. We were so impatiently to try this one, the Saw ride. Have you heard bout Saw movie? Alaa.. Scary movies tu. They implies the story in here. Jeng jeng jenggg..

X:\ No Way Out, an enclosed rollercoaster that travels backwards through the dark.Themed as being trapped in a computer virus.
We waited like half an hour for this because there was a passenger before us poked inside the seat. Hahhaha.. And the worker had to clean it up.

Best best.

Nemesis Inferno, a Bolliger & Mabillard inverted roller coaster featuring interlocking corkscrews and a pre-lift section themed around a volcano. It is the sister of Alton Towers' Nemesis.
Fucking thrill mehh. 8 stars.!

I also rode Detonator, it's like a solero in Sunway Lagoon but it much more awesome. And Atiyyah didn't dare to ride that one. Hehehe.. It's one of my favorite so far.

And this one too. Top first in my favorite lists.

Stealth, a launched roller coaster which accelerates to 80 miles per hour (130 km/h) in approximately 1.8 seconds.
Yes. Stealth. I fucking love this one. I dare to ride twice or even thrice for this. You can't even breath or blink your eyes while this thing is moving. So fast like hell. Seriously I told you.
I asked Atiyyah to ride this one for the second time but when it was our turn to go, Atiyyah had second thought bout it and she just sat aside, watched me screaming. Hahaha..

I enjoyed all the extreme rides in Thorpe Park. From 9.30am till 6pm. I surely wanna go to this park again. Yes. I want to go again. Guess I didn't have it enough back then because of the crowds. Haihh.. And not during holiday or in winter season as I can play water rides many times I want without afraid of being frozen after that. Hahahaha..

Who wants to go with me? Raise your hand and saving your money from now on.! Hahaha.!

UK part I : Stonehenge & Roman Baths

Stonehenge and Roman Baths.

Accompanied by a talkative yet cheerful female tourist guide, she explained to us history bout everything we saw, started from the bus station till we reached Stonehenge. And FYI, there's a private hospital near the London Victoria Coach Station that has bullet proof window. Wohooo..

Oh yeah. We arrived at Stonehenge around 10++ am. Some info as regard Stonehenge:

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in the English county of Wiltshire, about 2.0 miles (3.2 km) west of Amesbury and 8 miles (13 km) north of Salisbury.
One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of a circular setting of large standing stones set within earthworks. It is at the centre of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.
There a lot of stories about Stonehenge. And one of them is : Stonehenge was a place of burial from its beginning to its zenith in the mid third millennium B.C. The cremation burial dating to Stonehenge's sarsen stones phase is likely just one of many from this later period of the monument's use and demonstrates that it was still very much a domain of the dead.

The Heelstone

The Heel Stone lies just outside the main entrance to the henge, next to the present A344 road. It is a rough stone, 16 feet (4.9 m) above ground, leaning inwards towards the stone circle. It has been known by many names in the past, including "Friar's Heel" and "Sun-stone". Today it is uniformly referred to as the Heel Stone or Heelstone. When one stands within Stonehenge, facing north-east through the entrance towards the heel stone, one sees the sun rise above the stone at summer solstice.

Around 11.15am, we headed to Baths. Roman Baths.

The first shrine at the site of the hot springs was built by Celts, and was dedicated to the goddess Sulis, whom the Romans identified with Minerva. Geoffrey of Monmouth in his largely fictional Historia Regum Britanniae describes how in 836 BC the spring was discovered by the British king Bladud who built the first baths. Early in the 18th century Geoffrey's obscure legend was given great prominence as a royal endorsement of the waters' qualities, with the embellishment that the spring had cured Bladud and his herd of pigs of leprosy through wallowing in the warm mud.^[11]

It was hard to find halal restaurant in non Islamic country but we managed to find it one. Tee Heee.. It was a Thai restaurant but also served halal foods. Alhamdulillah.

Amsterdam part III : It's day and night

Assalamualaikum and hellowwwwwwwwwwwww everybody.. Hap bypy fasting.!!! Am so sorry for the very late update bout my Euro trip. I've been busy with my final 6th year exam preparation and stuffs related to it. And alhamdulillah, today Famy and I just finished our 6 year study here in Medical Faculty, Alexandria University. Alhamdulillah alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal. But we are unofficially graduated because we don't get our results yet. So, keep praying everyone for our best results. Huuuu..

Okay. Enough bout me. Back to the main topic. In the 4th April 2012, Atiyyah and me took a tour by ourselves around Amsterdam. We bought a day tram ticket so we just hop on hop off the tram to move from one place to another. Save time.! :D

The first place that we went was Amsterdam Flower Market. Hewhewheww.. Ah well, girls like flowers aye?


Of course the main flower here is TULIPS. Yes. The very beautiful tulips. They sell many things bout it, from the seeds till the flowers, either living, or plastic.

The sign located at two places, at a new building area and in front of Van Gogh museum, the later we accidentally found it as we decided to take some photos there (as you know Van Gogh museum is one of the tourist's attractions in Amsterdam)

The very famous place of Amsterdam. Red light district

De Wallen, also known as Walletjes or Rosse Buurt, is a designated area for legalised prostitution and is Amsterdam's largest and most well known red-light district.
This neighborhood has become a famous tourist attraction.
It consists of a network of roads and alleys containing several hundred small, one-room apartments rented by sex workers who offer their services from behind a window or glass door, typically illuminated with red lights.

That food ends my entry for now. Hehehe.. Haihhh.. Start type before berbuka lagi, sampai pukul 1 pagi baru siap update entry ni. Hahaha

Marsa Matrouh Getaway

Medical students are not just about books and studies all the times.

Thus, last Thursday,7/6/2012, a group of post exam students of Alexandria Medical School went to a well known beach area in Egypt, Marsa Matrouh. Famy told me that this trip was sort of an escapism for us ; An inclination to retreat from unpleasant realities through diversion or fantasy.

To be able being away from noisy people and surroundings, I kinda appreciate this getaway trip. Harus laaaaahhhhh. Hahaha

About Marsa Matrouh :

(Arabic: مرسى مطروح‎ Marsā Maṭroūḥ) is a Mediterranean seaport and the capital of the Matrouh Governorate in Egypt.
It is 240 km (150 mi) west of Alexandria and 222 km from Sallum, on the main highway from the Nile Delta to the Libyan border. Another highway leads south from the town, toward the Western Desert and the oases of Siwa and Bahariya.

Marsa Matrouh is a major Egyptian tourist resort and serves as a getaway resort for Europeans as well as Cairenes eager to flee the capital in the sweltering summer months. It is served by Marsa Matrouh Airport.

The city is known for its white soft sands and calm transparent waters (hell yes) ; the bay is protected from the high seas by a series of rocks forming a natural breakwater, with a small opening to allow access for light vessels.

Amsterdam part II : Keukenhof

Who loves flowers? Please raise your legs. Hahaha.. Me loves flowers too. Meh,girls and flowers can not be separated :D. But I prefer tulips than any other kind of flowers in the world especially when they start to bloom. You wanna know why? Because in my eyes,tulip looks very innocent and shy in that state of a partially opened flower. And I wish to have that kind of tulips in my wedding later. Any color doesn't matter. Hehehehehehehehe =p

And at this place, Keukonhof, my heart became berbunga-bunga pabila melihat lautan banjiran tulips di merata tempat. Sejauh mata memandang. Pheww~ Seperti tidak keruan daku dibuatnya di mana every 100 meters or even 50meters, we stopped and took picture and said, cantiknyeww cantiknyeww ya Allah. So please la count how many pit stops we had in 32 hectares park. Hahaha

Keukenhof, Holland

Keukenhof :

It means the Kitchen Garden.
Also known as the Garden of Europe, is the world's largest flower garden
Approximately 7,000,000 (seven million) flower bulbs are planted annually in the park, which covers an area of 32 hectares.
Keukenhof is located in South Holland in the small town of Lisse and southwest of Amsterdam
Keukenhof is open annually from the mid-March thru mid-May. The best time to view the tulips is around mid-April, depending on the weather.
It is accessible by bus from the train stations of Haarlem, Leiden and Schiphol. It is located in an area called the "Dune and Bulb Region" (Duin- en Bollenstreek). [This is what I have told you before in the previous entry]

Keukenhof is scheduled to be open from 22 March to 20 May 2012^. The Flower Parade was held on 21 April 2012. wuwuwuwuuu.. We went there on 4th April 2012. Didn't have the chance to watch the Parade. Isk.

The garden was established in 1949 by the then-mayor of Lisse. The idea was to present a flower exhibit where growers from all over the Netherlands and Europe could show off their hybrids – and help the Dutch export industry (the Netherlands is the world's largest exporter of flowers).
FYI, Keukenhof has been the world's largest flower garden for over fifty years.

Amsterdam part I : Canal cruise

Morning everybody *yawning* Yaaaa, I can't sleep even I feel so damn sleepy but yet I can't sleep. Sigh. Today my morning class starts at 8am. But because again I can't sleep right now so I decided to dedicate all my efforts of being uselessly awake by updating my Euro trip entry for uolls *suddenly feel like a kindhearted girl*

In the same day of traveling in Belgium, Atiyyah and me rushed to Amsterdam, during night.! Hoho. While we were waiting our train to Schipol, there was a man who appeared to be a Netherlands citizen but worked in Belgium advised us to be careful of ourselves and belongings, especially during night and "because only two of you travel to Amsterdam" Thanks uncle for a nice reminder. Unfortunately there were some difficulties in finding that goddamn Mevlana Hotel but alhamdulillah we managed to find it at last. phewww~

In the next morning, after we had our simple breakfast we went around the area just to find things to do on that day. There were cycling activities, smoking weed *hahaha* or just lepaking. And finally we picked up to ride a canal cruise and went to Keunkenhof after that. Both tickets cost 88 pounds/person. Yeah. Paid by pound using Atiyyah debit card. Hewhewhew.. Actually, you can go by yourself to Keunkenhof but first you have to go somewhere else(which I didn't remember where) to take a bus from there to Keukenhof. It's much more cheaper than using travel agent but mehhh, we didn't know such thing exist -_-

During the cruise, you'll continuously profusely given a small 'lecture' about the Amsterdam and these canals by a recorded message played along the tour.

Overall, there are about 200 boats along the Amsterdam canals. These boats consume large amount of electricity thus the government strictly puts the guideline for the boats' owners to use solar power in order to save the electricity.

After spent 2 days and 2 nights in Paris, we headed to Bruxelles, which is the capital of Belgium. It took about 2 to 3 hours journey by train. And surprisingly, there were a lot of Muslims even Belgium isn't an Islamic country. I didn't know whether they are immigrants or not, but that's cool you know. :p Also, the expense in Brussels was rather cheap than in Paris. Because we didn't have much time in Brussels, thus we only spent our day in the nearby areas, except the Mini Europe.

As we reached Brussels Central train station at 11 or 12 pm, we decided to go to Mini Europe first because the place located quite far from the station.


Hallo Mini Europeeee~ Tis picca with that orange thing took 5 euros you know. 5 euros. They were so damn clever in making money of other people. Pfftt..

Bout Mini Europe?

Is a miniature park located in Bruparck at the foot of the Atomium in Brussels.
Has the reproductions of the most attractive monuments in the European Union on show, at a scale of 1:25. Roughly 80 cities and 350 buildings are represented
The monuments were chosen for the quality of their architecture or their European symbolism.
There's a book given to the tourists to guide them through out the visit.

Belgium is famous for its Belgian chocolates. There are lots and lots of chocolates, with different flavors and designs. Atiyyah bought a 100gm chocolates that cost 5euros++.

Manneken Pis :

It is a small bronze fountain sculpture depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain's basin.
The 61 cm tall bronze statue on the corner of Rue de l'Etuve and Rue des Grands Carmes was made in 1619 by Brussels sculptor Hieronimus Duquesnoy
It bears a similar cultural significance as Copenhagen's Little Mermaid..
The figure has been repeatedly stolen; the current statue is a copy from 1965. The original is kept at the Maison du Roi/Broodhuis on the Grand Place
There are several legends behind this statue, but the most famous is the one about Duke Godfrey III of Leuven. Hye everyone and assalamualaikum. How are ya doing? Hope you guys are in a good health. Did you all wait for my blog updates? Hahaha *perasan -_-"* FYI, I'm done with Pediatric surgery posting last week and now am doing Plastic surgery posting for another 3 weeks.

Anyhoo, forget bout the study. Hehee.. During my last Spring break, I went to United Kingdom and Europe for 21 days. I spent 5 days in Europe at the beginning of my hols and the rest were in London, UK.

I arrived at London Heathrow Airport about 8pm then I took Heathrow Express train, (which I had to add 12pounds instead of 9pounds as I bought Heathrow Connect ticket at the counter but got into wrong train. Grrrr.!) to get to London Paddington. Here I simplify for you about the options you have to get to London from the Heathrow Airport.

Heathrow Express directly to London Paddington : 21pounds
Heathrow Connect, to London Paddington also but has several stops before it : 9pounds
Or by London Underground service, the price depends on your final destination

About 1.30 am, from New Cross Gate Atiya and I rushed to Baker's Street to catch our bus to London Luton airport. Actually we were 2 hours late from our bus schedule but thanked to the driver, he allowed us to get into the bus. Phewww~~ Ah well, my first destination in Euro trip was PARIS.

Our flight departure was at 8am and we arrived at Paris CDG airport at 9am. The flight only took 2 hours. At the airport terminal, you can purchase 10euros train ticket available at the counter or from the machine to get to Paris, also don't forget to buy your daily/2days/5days ticket so you can be around Paris easily. But what we did were we bought 2days ticket which cost us 30euros each (that was so so so wrong) T_T because the ticket included ALL THE FIVE ZONES IN FRANCE. FIVE ZONES WEHH. Pfffttttt... Padahal all the attractions are in ZONE ONE AND TWO ONLY which about 13euros for 2days. T_T *nangis kire2 duit* But, we didn't buy another ticket for train to Paris because we had that FIVE ZONES ticket already. Agak2 laa kalau nak kena beli tiket lagi kan. Pfffttt..

After we reached our Hotel Richard and put our bags aside, we went out to Musée du Louvre.

Uhuk uhukk.. Ehem *clearing throat*.I think it somewhat dusty here. Heyyy folks.! Forgive me for the long break between my latest entry with this one. Got no time to update stuffs for you. Don't blame me. Blame the books and the studies and the holidays instead. Hihihihi..

Anyway, this entry gonna be the last part of DSF which I went last errrr 2 months perhaps :p. Well, last but not least, Famy and I went to Abu Dhabi, which is one of the seven emirates that forming the UAE. In my opinion, Abu Dhabi is not so metropolitan like Dubai. We only got the opportunity to visit Sheikh Zayed Mosque, The Souk Central Market and another few places because they are located far away from each other. You better stay a night or two in Abu Dhabi if you wish to visit to all of the attractions. I do hope you guys enjoy the pictures although they aren't that much :(

It was initiated by the late president of the United Arab Emirates, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, fondly thought of as the father of the UAE

Dubai Shopping Festival VI

On February 5th, 2012, Famy and I went to Dubai Mall, by metro of course. Dubai Mall located near the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The mall has got nothing special EXCEPT it has an Aquarium and Underwater Zoo that what made us decided to go to this mall.

Because we are the nature lovers *ehem*, we went straightly to the Underwater Zoo and it's Aquarium. Hehe.. The Aquarium is placed on the first floor while the Underwater Zoo is on the second floor.

Look what we found in the aquarium. The jaws.! Hahaha. It seems like they are trapping inside the curvature of the aquarium glass because they can't move freely like the other fishes.

That's all for the aquarium part. It's like a short tunnel with length is about 100 meters. Oh, before I forgot, the price for the ticket is differs according to the service you want. The cheapest one was like mine. Hahaha. About 50 dirham. Only for Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. If you wish to ride a glass boat and watch the fish under your feet, then you can purchase the more expensive ticket. :)

Dubai Shopping Festival V

Have you heard about Dubai Festival City? It is a large residential, business and entertainment development in the city of Dubai, UAE. If you have plenty of time in Dubai, then you can visit this place. Well, we went there on 3rd February, 2012 by a taxi. It has many shops including a big store like an IKEA.

This was my first time to come to IKEA. -_-

Actually, the main reason Kak Nurul and Abang Hanif brought us to this Dubai Festival City was because we wanted to buy Hard Rock Cafe t-shirts. And Abang Hanif was so generous to buy us dinner at the cafe upstair. Tee hee :D

Dubai Shopping Festival part IV

On January 31st, 2012 after we went to Ibn Battuta Mall for the second time, we continued our journey to Dubai Marina Mall since these two places are near each other. But to remind you, if you want to go to Dubai Marina Mall, I advice you to charge your ticket to the station just before Dubai Marina station. It is because we took metro to Dubai Marina station and unfortunately we had to continue walking about 500 meters or even more to go to the mall. T_T But if you wish to see the view of Dubai Marina, then you can purchase your metro ticket to Dubai Marina station instead. Otherwise, take the station before it.

On February 2nd, 2012 we decided to go to Mirdif City Center. The mall is quite far because we took metro to the second last station and then rode the bus for about 15minutes before reaching the destination.

With 195 dirham, you can fly twice at iFLY. Before entering the fly area, you have to attend a short course in a classroom about the techniques and hand signs that are important and commonly use during sky diving. In the first fly, you'll apply those skills that have been told in the classroom under supervision of a trainer. As for the second time of flying, the trainer will bring you fly high up like in the picture above. But not too high la since you aren't an expert. Hahaha :p And if you wish to fly again for the third time, you can add only 70 dirham.

The mall has six divisions and each of them represents the countries or placec that the greatest traveler Ibn Battuta had visited. And we actually took 2 consecutive days to finish exploring this mall. So big yet so damn beautiful :)

Dubai Shopping Festival part II

From second day, we started to visit most of the famous malls in Dubai. Oh, wait, can we visit a mall??? Hahaha.. Okay, the first mall we went for window shopping was Mall of Emirates as it is the nearest one to our place and only took about 15 minutes by walking.

M.O.E is a big mall indeed. It locates most of the famous brands all over the world. For the shopaholics, M.O.E is a must to go especially during Dubai Shopping Festival. But come earlier as you can if you don't want your stuffs being steal by others. Hihi. In Mall of Emirates also, you can go skiing at Ski Dubai. The price for the ticket differs according to the time length, experience and facilities you want to use. As for the first timer, it will cost you about 200 dirham if I'm not mistaken. Its quite far to go as the Metro took 30 minutes journey from Mall of Emirates Metro station to Deira City Center Metro station.The mall is like any other mall that you have seen before, nothing special I think. Dubai Shopping Festival part I

I've been to Dubai recently during my winter breaks for two weeks, from January 27th until February 9th, 2012. It was my first time to visit Dubai. I went there with a friend of mine and stayed at his sister's house in Al-Barsha 1. We flew from Borg El-Arab International Airport at 930 am and arrived at Dubai International Airport around 3pm. Dubai has nice weather, neither too hot nor too cold even though it actually in winter season.

Hello Dubai.!

From Airport Terminal 1, we took metro to go to Mall of Emirates since it near to Al-Barsha 1.

About 15 stations to go meh T__T

At 530 pm, after we had our dinner, without wasting much time, we headed to Global Village in Dubai Land by taxi. It opens from 4 pm until 12 am. It such a big big big place since it has about 39 pavilions there. Unfortunately, we only managed to go some of them because we were running out of time. And you may need two consecutive days if you intend to finish window shopping at all of the pavilions.

Kyrgyzstan, Europe, Iran and of course, Malaysia pavilion.!
