She's the Geek joins the Holiday Program

An organisation called Impact Direct Ministries who have been running a holiday program for two years already to keep children safe from the street, teaching Life skills and motivating them to reach for a dream. Today I had the wonderful opportunity to spend the day with a group of boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12 who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Each group had to choose a name and were assigned tasks and the topics we had to discuss was Drug Abuse, Pornography, Sexual Abuse, as we started our discussion I was amazed at how colourful these children's lives were back home and what they were exposed to. At the end of the day the group presented posters they made and banners saying what the dangers are of Drug abuse and the effects it has on the Lives of loved ones's. Below I have included a pic of how creative these kids are. I am truly proud of each one and would like to thank the Organisation for allowing me to experience and enrich the lives of these wonderful children

This past weekend we enjoyed much excitement with the Launch of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, I for some reason had suffered a Vuvuzela attack and had a migraine for most of the weekend. :) unlucky me.

Today I find myself back on track but haven't a clue of the Soccer schedule.

I came across this very cool site where they have made it really simple for you to automatically download the Schedule

All you need to do is to right-click this link, hit “Save link as…”, choose where to save the PDF file, then open it from the location where you saved it.

Then, you just have to hit Print and you’ll have your great printed World Cup 2010 schedule.

I decided to write a post about amazon.com and this post I will be introducing a gadget called the Apple iPod touch 32 GB (3rd Generation) NEWEST MODEL

The iPod Touch (trademarked, marketed, and stylized as iPod touch) is a portable media player, personal digital assistant, and Wi-Fimobile platform designed and marketed by Apple Inc.The iPod Touch adds the multi-touch graphical user interface to the iPod line. It is the first iPod with wireless access to the iTunes Store, and also has access to Apple's App Store, enabling content to be purchased and downloaded directly on the device.

The new 3rd generation iPod Touch^[8] includes faster hardware (the same microprocessors, graphics engine, and RAM as the iPhone 3GS), a slightly lower battery life,voice control, light sensor, and bundled earphones with a remote and microphone.

The team of BBC came to do some interviews with the team at Rlabs and they wanted to know about the success stories how Social Media (Technology) has played a role on reconstructing lives of men and women that was addicted to substance and involved in gangsterism and now turning this free Social Media Tools into business models.

Zakumi the official South Africa Mascot

Zakumi's birth date coincides with a day known and celebrated as Youth Day in South Africa. The group A match played between South Africa and Uruguay (Match 17) also coincides with Zakumi's birthday. He will turn 16 in 2010.^[2]
The green and yellow (gold) colours of the character match the colours used in South African sport uniforms and can also be seen in the South Africa national football team's kit.
Andries Odendaal, from Cape Town, created the original character design.^[3]
The official motto of Zakumi is "Zakumi's game is Fair Play." The motto was seen in the digital advertisement boards during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, and he will also appear in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.^[2]

While browsing the World Wide Web. I stumbled upon some useful facts and reports worthy of sharing.

A new report from HubSpot examines whether the sexes behave differently on Twitter.

Their conclusion? They do.

HubSpot looked at 9 million Twitter accounts–excluding outliers, like celebrities–and concluded that women are “more social” on Twitter than men.

HubSpot found that although men and women have an equitable number of followers, women tend to tweet and follow more–12% and 2% more than men, respectively. (see graph below)

Separate research into Twitter’s demographics found that women also slightly outnumber men (53% vs. 47%).

Cellphones ... Something to think about

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing.

Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being
Disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

Makes you stop and think 'where are my priorities? And no dropped calls!

Mom 3.Zero Breakfast Session

Saturday morning I attended a Mom3.o Social Media session held at Maxis in Vangate Mall. The Idea was to get the ladies meetup in a mall and interact, have a relaxed morning and enjoy a lovely breakfast.
Clive the facilitator continued after breakfast, did a few interviews about experiences and expectations the Ladies had and wanted from the Social Media Sessions.
A few weeks ago I did a presentation at a conference about Social Media and Below I have Included a few pics of the ladies who are in the Mom3.o class and is now motivated to attend the workshops and learn more about being Empowered through Technology.

Well done to the RLabs team for organizing such a great Breakfast meetup.

My Nokia Smartphone Upgrade

This Past week I had experienced nothing but excitement and being so caught up, made me forget to mention that I got a smartphone upgrade and have now equipped myself to do the extraordinary with my mobile.
My previous cellphone which still remains my baby is a Nokia N80, which I will probably never part with any time soon has been the ultimate device.

My new Cellphone however is a E-Series which has a Full Qwerty keyboard, Microsoft office, designed for business and advanced messaging that I definitely has me inspired to more freedom and look forward to my exploring my new device.
