Abortion Also Hurts The Living

In a previous post, I have related my opinion on abortion, probability of defunding and the choice I made when faced with an untimely pregnancy. I had not remembered and thus realized that abortion had affected me earlier. I had forgotten that my mother had an abortion.

I must have been in middle school when one day my mother came home and laid down on the bed. I figured she had one her migraines. She loved chocolate but chocolate did not love her so, once in a while, she got migraines. Later, she got up and we all went about the evening ritual of preparing dinner.

A couple of days later, while I sat and watched her prepare dinner, she said something and I didn't exactly catch what it was so I asked her to repeat it. I honestly cannot remember everything she said - my mind draws a blank. I can only remember her saying something having "taken out" my baby brother "me lo saque" Then, and my mind recoils in horror, she turned to me and asked me if I would have liked to have to a baby brother. I remembered just looking at her and not knowing what to say. I mean, it was done, why ask me now? She then shrugged her shoulders and continued preparing dinner.

I have been terrified of the woman for years but had not been able to make the connection until now. I don't know if my mother lost her mind a little, when she had the abortion or if the guilt was such that she had to talk to someone and I was the only one around but that was a horrifying moment. The shock must have been such that I had never stopped to study the moment until now.

Yesterday, as I read the latest on the Planned Parenthood's gruesome business, it hit me. I cried the tears that I had not been able to cry, about 40 years ago. I mourned my baby brother. I had never allowed myself to think about what might have been. The little baby that I could have held, helped on his first steps, laughed with, protected and guided. I will never have the joy of meeting his children and hearing them call me "Tia" (aunt).

I remember that for years, I hated God. I can't say that I was an atheist but I remember saying that God was a crutch for weak people. I was strong and no one was going to get the best of me so I didn't need God. I was respectful. I never attacked people of faith; just stayed away from them and preferred to avoid the subject of God.

One act - the abortion of my sibling - destroyed the promise of a life, the relationship that I had with my mother and with my faith. It also destroyed my mother - she became harder more materialistic. I left Panama and the family behind. Life took me places and through many experiences. I met people who called me their friends but when I needed them they turned their back on me.

Only one female doctor, a Republican helped me through the pregnancy, and my faith has carried me through. I was alone and scared and I remember saying: "God, I said that only weak people need you and I need you now. I need help." I have walked with God since.

So, for all the people who say that Planned Parenthood does a good service and that we "hate women" and "it's about the services" or "We haven't experienced" I say - I know you. I have "experience" and, people like you turned your backs on me, when I needed help bringing life into this world. We have good reasons to oppose Planned Parenthood.

I Have Been In A Bad Place This Week.

This past week has been one of those when the past jumps out of nowhere, grabs you and wrestles you onto the ground. I had lied to myself for many years. I had preferred to think of abortions as first trimester but really, as first three weeks. The image of the fetus that I had conveniently allowed in my mind was of a little glob of cells but that is not the reality of what is going on. I can't "unsee" what I have seen. I can't turn a blind eye anymore. These are little humans recognizable as a boy or a girl.

I have tried to avoid dwelling on the images because, when I do, I can't help but think about how they are crushed alive. I am a veteran and not many things get to me but this one does. Why does it affect me so hard? Many people see these images and recoil in horror but the images don't make them break down or haunt them like this.

Back in the '90s I was on top of the world. I was at my prime physically and saw a long, exciting career ahead of me. Relationships and commitment were not part of the equation because I had just left an abusive marriage. I just needed someone to talk to and so I met my son's dad.

I had stopped the pill because I was out of a marriage, I was not planning on being with anyone and I wanted to give my body a break. My son's dad and I became friends and, eventually, nature took its course. We were responsible; we discussed birth control and picked condoms, until I could get something more effective.

A couple of nights later, I woke up with him taking me, before I could stop him and get him to put on the condom. That was the only time there was intercourse without birth control but it was enough. My body gave me signs and the tests confirmed the pregnancy.

My son's dad wanted me to have an abortion. I considered it but knew that I was not going to be able to live with myself. The thought of killing my baby was gut-wrenching. I decided against the abortion. My son's dad left my life and I had my baby alone. I drove myself to the hospital, having contractions, went through labor and gave birth with only the attending physician and a nurse as witnesses.

There are many other details to this story but I will focus on what I believe is the source of my anger. See, my job had allowed me all sorts of trauma training but nothing related to abortions. Instinctively, I knew that an abortion had to be a gruesome process but I never imagined that the fetus would be so formed. My son's dad, however, had been a doctor.

This was before the Internet and the amazing availability of information that we have now. Back then, if I wanted to get information and pictures, I had to physically go to the library or to a bookstore. I had never seen a fetus and most of the images showed the fetus at that stage where it doesn't look human yet.

So, I believe that by now you get the picture... I was betrayed by my friend and someone of trust in the community. Not only did he behave like a coward towards me but he knew what was going to happen to the baby. He knew that it looked like a little human already and, like the physicians that crush these most defenseless of us, he knew what was going to happen to him.

I have been in a bad place this past couple of weeks...

About De-Funding Planned Parenthood

It was a no-brainer that the recent effort to de-fund Planned Parenthood would fail. The White House said the videos were "probably fraudulent," even though they also admitted in the same breath, that nobody had watched them. It is slightly surreal to hear a statement like that but, consider this, it is estimated that Planned Parenthood spent around 12 million dollars to get President Obama re-elected. In addition, Planned Parenthood has courted and accumulated political clout with the Democratic party. Having the President and so many Democrats on their side, guaranteed that the recent action was more symbolic than practical.

Planned Parenthood also contributed to Republican's political campaigns, but very little to none. Back in 2008, they gave $3,000 to Lincoln Chafee from RI but the amount is in between parenthesis, which indicates that the money went back to Planned Parenthood. On that same year, the only other Republican to accept money from Planned Parenthood was Mark Kirk, from IL. OpenSecrets.org shows him as having accepted $10,000. Other than that, because the amount shown has been zero, it looks like neither Republican Senators nor Representatives accept money from Planned Parenthood.

What does this all mean? Well, it looks like we may be headed for another showdown, like the one we had with Obamacare. Will it work? Probably not, the federal government has Republicans between a rock and hard place. Last time we had this showdown, it cost Republicans favor with the voters and we need to be strong.

We have already given Democrats the option to use the money that goes to Planned Parenthood for improving and building more community health clinics. Democrats will not accept any option that comes through the Republicans unless we can open the eyes of America to what is really going on. The majority of Americans are decent people who want to do the right thing but have been hoodwinked by Democrats through mainstream media.

We have to force the media, that the majority of Americans watch, to show what is really going. If we can't do that, then we have to use the alternative media that Democrats use online, and spread the evidence of Planned Parenthood's gruesome business and the handle that they have carved into the government of The United States.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that conservatives need to brace and prepare for an even longer battle.

About Obama's Poll Numbers Being Up...

What Kind of Voodoo is Forbes Trying To Push? There is this "opinion" piece in Forbes where the author claims that Obama's approval rating is up and that it gives Democrats a chance in 2016. Well... I got curious and decided to read the article... am I understanding this correctly? Zogby Analytics polled 1,052 out of over 300,000,000 people? ...and they call it a "nationwide poll"!?

Let's break it down:

Sample size was 1,052 people.

--> 48% means that 504.96 people approve of him; the .96 must have been a "part human"

--> 49% = 515.48 disapprove of him. .48, "less than part human"

--> 61% young voters approve = 641.72 with almost one (.72) about to be called old.

--> 31% of this age cohort now disapproves = 326.12 people are maturing, with one (.12) beginning to realize that it is not cool to live in Mom's basement.

--> 50% support among moderates = 526 people, of the same 1,052 also call themselves "moderates" not necessarily Democrat or Republican.

--> 41% [approval] among evangelicals = 431.32 people called themselves evangelicals with one (.32) about to become something else.

--> 57% in the "Creative Class" = 599.64 make money through "Knowledge Economy" could these be...pundits?

--> 55% approval in the "Investor Class" = 578.6 daytraders had nothing better to do and one (.6) lives off his/her trust fund.

--> 43% of the above mentioned "Investor Class" disapproves of Obama = 452.36 people have lost money in the stock market under Obama with one (.36) probably loosing money under any president.

--> 57% union households now approve = 599.64 people belong or have a relative who belongs to a union. and 41% disapproving means that 431.32 do not, which leaves us with 21.04 people and one arm unaccounted for.

--> 53% of NASCAR fans approve = 557.56 people watch cars go 'round the world to the left...a lot.

--> 52% of Weekly WalMart Shoppers approve = 547.04 over half of the people can't afford to eat out so they go to Wally World a lot.

--> LGBT voters' approval is up to 63% = 662.76 is gay.

--> 27% disapproval in LGBT voters = 284.04 is gay and does not approve, in spite of recent developments... so that means that 63% + 27% = 90% ...only 10% of the sampling was heterosexual?

--> 74% of Progressives or "very liberal voters" and "strongly in favor of the President" = 778.48 people who participated in the poll want some form of communism.

--> 26% of Progressives disapprove = 273.52 people do not want communism, they just want everybody to get something.

So... it seems that the majority of the people who responded to the poll stay at home a lot because they get to answer these polls. I could also surmise that a good number grew up in Evangelical households but are closet gays - it happens. These pollters watch NASCAR; don't have much money because they shop at Walmart as opposed to Publix or some other high-endish grocery store or, maybe, they're just frugal because they are "investors" which is code name for self-employed but, oh wait... they call themselves "Progressives" which were the ones who came up with the "Occupy Wall Street"

I supported the Occupy movement because I think of bankers as a pimple on humanity, but then, I realized that most of the protesters were unemployed college grads with massive debt. If they were so smart to begin with, why did they fall for the scam? These were nothing but stupid kids who were just mad because they couldn't find a job - no - there were jobs, just not "up to their level"

Anyway... getting back to the article...I look at the name of the author... John Zogby... Wait, isn't that the same name as the "company" who ran the poll??? Well, yes...yes it is... Really Forbes? This is nothing but a piece of self-promotion for this guy.

I'd be careful of anything Zogby says and if you're Democrat, you'll thank me for the mini-analysis, because he says that Trump is ahead but bases his result on 256 people polled, again, out of 300,000,000 people in the United States.(http://www.zogbyanalytics.com/news/610-trump-leads-in-new-zogby-poll)

To My Liberal Friends.

To my liberal friends, I understand that you don't care for the Republican candidates - They are all the usual type of politician. The Donald is good at forcing all politicians away from the same tired script we have heard for over 20 years. I think that we need to get away from the script. I see that people have been caged into thinking categories. If you're a Democrat, then anything any conservative says is like nails on a chalkboard. I read somewhere where feminists needed a "safe room" because they could not stand to listen to a speaker? What sort of nonsense is that?

Listen, it has not mattered who sat in the WH, the poor is still poor, vets are still mistreated, jobs are still being shipped overseas, there's a law that says that everyone has access to healthcare but premiums are still high and getting higher. Our enemies have come and established themselves on our soil and can be found at all levels of government and private industry.

Even worse, we are more divided by race than in the '70s and '80s. So, rescue does not come from politicians or the government. We, the people of the United States have to find a common goal. Instead of allowing us to be pit one against another, through mainstream media, we have to look at what made our country great. It was identity. Being American.

I can hear many of you already, Evangelicals hate gays! Whites hate Blacks! White privilege! Blacks hate Whites! Cops kill blacks! The rich hates the poor! Well, there are haters but the numbers must be small compared to the rest of population, otherwise some group would have become extinct already.

She hates because she must...what does that mean?

I have been hated by representatives of every group and I have also been loved by representatives of every group. Some of you assume that a couple of idiots represent the whole group. Some of you, want the extermination of certain groups. I mean really, some of you truly believe that the world would be better if "X" group was exterminated.

Some of you want a powerful regime to come and take over - yes, let's get the government to rule over everybody's life. Let's allow one small group of humans to determine what is right for the majority and enforce it with power! There has never been any human endeavor that has not been tainted by corruption or tilted to favor one group over another. What if you are not part of the "in" crowd?

Furthermore, some of you truly want this planet to be hit by a biggie-sized meteorite so that the world can be purified and re-populated with the "right people" the chosen ones. I mean, really? Can you hear yourselves? You want mass genocide so that things can "get better"?

People, wake up. Stand back and take a look at the results of what politicians, religious leaders or community organizers have done - NOT at what they have said. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. What have been the practical effects in your life of anything that politicians have promised you.

I know you have been conditioned to cringe at the thought of questioning your own party's results but - if you are screwed and don't say something, you will continue to get screwed. Your children will continue to get arrested, incarcerated, have no future, blow themselves up, be poor and worse - your grandchildren will also be screwed.

See, I am going to tell you a secret that all conservatives know. We love God and have faith but very few of us worry about the pastor talking about "the earth is only 6k years old" We go: "That's nice pastor..." then we go home, clean the house, prepare good wholesome meals for our family, discipline our kids, watch them like a hawk, monitor their time online, TV and their friends. We demand performance in school and ambition from them. We are Americans, regardless of our skin color or even if we were born in this country. We are Americans and we are proud of that.

You don't have that. You are getting pushed back and forth through the media and spend hours, days and practically your whole lives thinking that someone hated on you. You are taught to hate this country so you live on soil that you hate. You have been taught to feel shame, instead of admiration for the sacrifices and intellect of those who came before us. You hate the thought of assimilation but we don't. We learned about our founding fathers and realized that those guys were pretty sharp - they thought long and hard about the constitution and how to set up this country and came up with an amazing thing. We, conservatives, see that and cherish it. It is the glue that binds us, more so than religion because, you see, not all conservatives are Christian.

The glue that binds us and helps us thrive is the belief in the greatness of America and the common goal of defending her. The more anyone tries to take that away from us, the more we rally together. So, if you are a liberal because you hate America and want to see her fall - you will have to go through an awful lot of us to accomplish that.

If, on the other hand, you are a liberal because you were taught to be, I'm not going to tell you to come to our side. No, I'm just going to go about my life and be happy; your life is your business and your choice. I did my piece by sharing my thoughts with you.

We, conservatives, will rally together and work to help America and it would be nice if you joined us without having to talk about politics, religion, race or sexual preferences - leave that stuff at home. We don't want to know who you sleep with or how. We can see your race and we're like: "Yeah, so." Your religion or lack of thereof is between you, the creator or your higher mind or the angel of death for all I care. Politics is only relevant when it comes to knowing whom we will contact to address issues in the community and that's all.

I always remember Kennedy's words: "Ask not what can your country do for you, but what can you do for your country." Get involved in your community. Build bridges based on similarities, not differences.

Everybody can agree on safety in our streets - then get together and with your neighbors, chase street gangs away. Get together with the police and turn and rat on the bastards - they are killing your children. Everybody can agree on the need for jobs - write to Senators, organize and demand that our jobs be brought back. Everybody can agree on the need for reliable childcare for low income parents - again, write to Congress and ask for things like a voucher so that private childcare centers can get reimbursed. It would be a less costly option than building lots of childcare centers for low income parents.

Think of ways to use the services that we already have, whether public or private and improve on them, as opposed to asking the government to build a solution from the ground up. There is so much that we, as the people, can do without having to resort to bickering, riots or hate - or waiting for government to do it for us.

CREDO and the Planned Parenthood Controversy

CREDO Lies About This Controversy. The Woman Callously Discusses Baby Body Parts While She Eats Her Salad!

I used to be a Democrat. I used to refuse to hear or see anything that the Republicans published because I was convinced that it was propaganda. I had been led to believe that they didn't care about people and only wanted to keep themselves in power, along with their rich cronies. I was convinced, no, I was brainwashed. I am awake now.

CREDO has circulated an email petition for Democrats to come to the defense of Planned Parenthood where they insinuate that the charges are untrue. I include an image of the email below. IT IS CREDO WHO LIES.

I wonder how many times they have lied before because they mention ACORN and state the Republicans did the same thing them, but it is CREDO who lies about these current allegations - the video clearly shows the woman discussing baby body parts!

CREDO wants to galvanize Democrats against Republicans by using terms like "Right-wing" which brings a mental image of a "wing-nut" or a "nutcase" They further say that defunding Planned Parenthood will hurt women. Really? Has this country lost its soul? Abortions for life or death situations are perfectly legal. I see now how dirty these tactics are and I hate that I spent years contributing time and what little money I had, as a single mother and a college student back then, to Democrats! I believed, as many Democrats believe now, that I was helping the common good.

About The McCain - Trump Controversy

The Donald has managed to rise another media storm. The Hill states :

"Republicans of all stripes spent Saturday hammering Donald Trump for his remarks mocking Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) over his time spent as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
Many of the GOP’s most visible members are suggesting the outspoken billionaire and presidential candidate went too far taunting McCain during a speech Saturday afternoon.

"He was a war hero because he was captured,” Trump sarcastically told host Frank Luntz during the 2015 Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa. “I like people who weren’t captured.”

Many have taken issue with his remarks and used it as ammunition against the Donald, such as the "saintly" Hillary Clinton...

I can't help but get the giggles at Hillary's use of the word "shameful" and John Kerry's defense of John McCain, given Kerry's Swift-boating controversy, actually inspired to me to see what other people's reactions were.

Sherryl Attkisson, Emmy award winning investigative journalist and author of the New York Times bestseller: “Stonewalled.” published a fact check, where she states that the Donald did not insult John McCaine.

Most Republican candidates, except Ted Cruz, have used the controversy as ammo against the Donald.

In the meantime, Twitter continues to swell in support for the Donald. Here are a few examples:

I knew that McCaine had allowed himself to be filmed in a propaganda tape, while prisoner of North Vietnam, but I did not remember hearing of him facing any repercussions. I had been taught that to help the enemy in anything that could be used to bring our country down, constituted treason. Later, he ran for president and I wanted him to win because I did not trust that Obama would be able to work with congress. I had a bad feeling about Obama and his "fundamental transformation of America" however, McCaine didn't feel completely right either.

There are YouTube videos were people state that McCain has blocked release of POW records - that would include the tape or tapes that he made. Even worse, they state that McCain blocked initiatives were people wanted to search for surviving POWs. McCain had said that there were no POWs left but, years later, survivors were found. If no returning POW had faced a court martial, I'd say to leave the past be but in "Spite House, The Last Secret of the War in Vietname" Monika Jensen-Stevenson narrates how Private Garwood, who escaped after being a prisoner of war for 14 years, was court-martialed and found guilty of collaborating with the enemy. There is more to the McCaine - Vietnam controversy and Trump may know more than he dares admit.

In conclusion, media pundits and foes will take any shots they can at the Donald because, even though he can be brash, he has driven the dialogue away from the usual tired scripts. The Donald is bringing America out of political-correctness prison and thank-you-for-playing medals and into a realm that even Republicans may find hard to process. In time, McCaine will be a loser because he did call veterans, Americans and legal residents who want the border closed - "crazies" The Donald will loose a couple of points because some veterans forgot that getting captured was a job hazard and that one had to be a Chris Kyle to deserve to be called a hero. The only one whom, so far, comes out smelling like a rose is Ted Cruz because he has refused to take a pot-shot at the Donald.

About The Angry Girl Who Ran Over a Rival In St. Louis...

This is exactly what I mean about what is going on in America. This is the type of behavior that I have witnessed (minus somebody getting run over) I have seen groups of people - mostly females - angry and yelling at each other. That's the same type of attitude that they bring into the workplace. People with good attitudes get promoted or just find a job with a better environment then, the angry people cannot figure out why they can't make it in life. We have to discuss these things. We have to expose these things without fear of being labeled a bigot or racist.

It has also occurred to me, that perhaps people have not witnessed this type of behavior. Perhaps they have not ventured outside of their comfort zone and have only "heard of" but never really met poor people - truly poor or hopeless people that do not look it. These are people who have forgotten how to have a conversation and instead react and yell. If you try to have conversation with them, they can't see you or hear you - all they know is anger.

Many of these people look like they do OK; they have clothes, do their hair and even have rides but when you go to their homes, these are crowded, cluttered, there is no privacy and the food comes from through food stamps. Many times, there is verbal abuse that is not seen as such - it's "just the way they talk"

Perhaps people think that throwing money at them, giving them free stuff is an act of kindness. Vote for the candidate that says that right things - he/she will help the poor. "Love Wins!" yeay... These girls are in this trouble because somebody didn't set them straight. They didn't have a strong parental guidance, standards and the example of dedication, drive and focus in their lives. They are like this because they gave in to peer pressure from kids who didn't learn discipline either because their parents did not know better. These girls got into a street fight. One may end up paralyzed and the other is going to jail, whenever they find her.

Decades of giving in to political correctness and being afraid of offending people and encouraging the victim mentality while at the same not teaching morals have created this. They don't want to hear that they can change their lives either - Of course not, young people never want to hear. Children learn to cry to get what they want until the parent says, enough and teaches the kid that a tantrum is not appropriate behavior. These girls have learned that all they have to do is call someone "racist" and that person will fold. A Black woman taught me not care. She was a Marine - tough as nails and she told not to "care about that shit"

So, call me racist, call me bigot, call me whatever you want but I know better. I know the number of kids that I have been able to help by setting them straight - I set standards and set my foot down and every one of my son's friends, any kid who set foot in my house, anyone I worked with or became my friend has known that I have standards. At the same time, I have not tried to recapture my youth by behaving like a kid - my time of going out to "party" was over as soon as I had my kid.

These females look tough and, don't misunderstand me, they are dangerous - they have guns and are very angry but they are all looking for the same thing - they all want a man to "protect" them. They will go off at you if you say that but it's true. I hear that HIV is rampant in East St. Louis, yet, they all sleep with the man as soon as they can as if that was going to attach the man to them, then they get angry when the man goes for the next one.

America needs to have open conversations about these situations in places other than smut talk shows. America needs to stop being afraid to tell these females to cross their legs and put on their big girl panties because going about life angry will get them nowhere. Mothers need to behave like mothers, instead of trying to chase a man and men need to get off the streets, challenge themselves and do something real scary - get a college degree then try to start a business.

First, Nancy Pelosi takes advantage of the Kate Steinle murder to push for gun control. but she didn't mention that the gun was not registered to the perpetrator. Gun control would have been useless, unless she means to (try to) confiscate-all-weapons and trample the Second Amendment, in which case I can hardly suppress a smile.

About Jindal's, Rubio's and Cruz' Eligibility To Run For President.

Conservative friends have brought to my attention that a couple of our Republican candidates may not meet eligibility requirements to run for President. I am almost certain that this will be a non-issue because when candidate Obama's eligibility was questioned, the lower courts dismissed the lawsuits. The 2008 and 2012 elections set the precedent so that U.S. Citizens could run for President without having to meet all of the criteria to be eligible.

Why have I brought attention to this issue? Because I am not a hypocrite. There were concerns about candidate Obama's loyalties, before he ran for office. Today, even people who voted for him find it difficult to understand his logic when it comes to the Muslim Brotherhood and ISIS. The situation with Iran is easy to understand because Iran has oil. If the U.S. can find a way to do business with Iran, then the price of oil could be kept from dropping and derailing U.S. efforts in building an economy with fracking. The rabbit hole is deep when it comes to countries and their natural resources.

So, while I truly believe that these candidates all fervently love our country, there may be a candidate in the future whom like President Obama, feels that the U.S. is a flawed country in need of a "fundamental transformation" If we wish to have standing ground to question that candidate's eligibility, then we must be open about discussing our own current candidates' eligibility. Eventually, we may have to consider the candidates' entire record of associations; his/her parent's associations and belief's in addition to their citizenship status. Sounds far-fetched? Perhaps - the particular enemy we fight today - radical Islam - is prepared to wait "a thousand years" if needed to "bring down the West"

In Regards to Gay Marriage

Honestly, I am not surprised about the Supreme Court ruling in regards to gay marriage. The moment one state legalized same sex marriage, it was a foregone conclusion and it has nothing to do with religion. Article IV, Section 2 of the United States Constitution declares that:

"The citizens of each state shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of citizens in the several states."

So, whether you agree or disagree with homosexuality, the Constitution grants the same rights to all citizens. The part that I found irritating is that the Supreme Court has issued a new law. Citizens of several states voted against same sex marriage; the Supreme Court has over ruled citizens vote - that's a slippery slope, IMHO.

We will get into trouble when LGBT groups want to force religious institutions to perform gay marriage. That's when I will stand on the side of religious freedom because, again, The Constitution.

About Our Nation's "Original Sin"

All this to-do about the Confederate Flag and slavery has made me curious so I had to dig.

Everybody loves President Lincoln and cites the Emancipation Proclamation as proof that the Civil War was to end slavery, however, in this case, history has really been written by the victors - the north.

It turns out that the freeing of slaves was NOT the real reason for the Proclamation as well as for the war. If the abolishing of slavery had been the reason, then why didn't slaves in any of the border states were freed? "In the context of the American Civil War, the border states were slave states that had not declared a secession from the Union " "The Proclamation applied in the ten states that were still in rebellion in 1863." The proclamation did NOT "cover the nearly 500,000 slaves in the slave-holding border states (Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland or Delaware) which were Union states."

There is great effort placed in going into detail to list the states that were going to be required to free their slaves and those who would not have to change ANYTHING.

If the Civil War about freeing slaves then, why weren't slaves, IN ALL OF THE STATES, made free??

I learned in school that Lincoln had been the president who freed slaves. Later, in college, I learned that he had been a Republican. As I further researched and learned, I learned that there were powerful forces against the end of slavery and that those forces were from the North. I have seen that our past and politics have been just as convoluted as they are today with not one side being entirely free of blame for what President Obama called, our nation's "original sin" However, I find it disturbing that our President has chosen to ignore facts that he must have learned in college.

Anyone who attends college has access to an online network of libraries that allow us to research what is known as original sources. There are journals, books, essays, tons of information about the past - much more than what anyone was been exposed to in school textbooks. I remember having an interest in the history of Hispanic Immigrants to the United States because...well... I grew up in Central America. It's my background! Does anyone believe that having an African background, the President did not research the history of slavery in America?!

I feel disappointment in that our president, having a scholarly education, has chosen to push the same divisive rhetoric of blacks against whites and the north against the south. He knows better but, then again, I should not be surprised - we have been asleep at the wheel for a long time and trusted people without integrity with the education of Americans. For example, a visit to the Library of Congress - the place where one should expect to find the embodiment of the spirit that our founding fathers expressed in the documents that are the backbone of our country, I found perpetuation of lies instead:

I can understand the average citizen having a biased understanding of history. Heck, I'm still learning! I do not excuse people who went to college for, and who earn a living by the (supposed) preservation of knowledge.
