And the criticism inherently goes like so,"I could never marry someone for money, it's just Soooooooo wrong."

Perhaps they are right, but often I see the same people get married so that they can have sex due to their religious beliefs they must be married before rooting. No one ever says, "I could never marry just for sex"

Well I'm saying it now.

I could never marry someone just for sex.

It's just as much using someone as marrying for money.
Don't churches realise that if the messiah ever comes back the wis men will never be able to find him for all the Star's of Bethlehem. There'd have to be a hell of a lot more than three wise men to have any hope.

And then of course there are the doomsday signs...come join everyone for the rapture before the world ends next year. These are printed on giant bill boards begging people to join there loved ones in the afterlife, are we lemmings or are we men? It makes me laugh that most of these doom sayers are heralding from groups such as Family Radio, what a misconception that one is, if you heed the sign your family will shortly be part of a suicide cult...woooh.

Why religion makes sense...

A man asked God for a motorbike, but knows God doesn't work that way.
Who's that? I wondered... maybe it's someone from his family.

I hung out in the background, and then walked into the lounge room to to hear the gentleman at the door,
"I'd like to talk to you about spiritual things.."

Being a gentleman my housemate politely refused and sent the man on his way.

Since this moment I've been imagining ways to make this situation a whole lot more fun... does anyone have any ideas for the next hapless fellow to try the same dubious act of doorknocking.

Late and without eggs

Ok ok...so I know I am a bit late to have my Easter rant but I don't really care. The Easter bunny didn't come for me anyway, the bilby did though (thanks mum and dad for the dvd and chocolate).

Things that strike me about Easter:
1. Places that would normally be open are closed to respect the tradition of one group of people
2. Alcohol and red meat is removed from some menus for the same reason as above
3. People spend a lot more time in church than at any other time of the year

I went on holiday on the Easter friday for my friends 21st birthday celebrations, on thursday night I went out to have a beer and was astounded when the pub shimmied us out the doors as the clock struck 11.30pm it seemed as if they were almost fearful that if they did not have all of their patrons on the street by the time the clock struck midnight they would be struck down by God's almighty wrath...fat chance.

We then had to wait 3 hours for 2 of our friends who are catholic to leave church so that we could check in to the hotel...sorry but these guys are possibly not in any sense of the word moral...upstanding citizens as portrayed by the church's moral argument. They smoke, drink, fuck, get high, swear, use condoms...I mean really what could they possibly be doing spending the whole of Easter friday in church.

All in all though it is mightily nice to have a five day long weekend...if you don't need any alcohol or food =).

Almost A year

SO...

DO i start with the inevitable explanation of where I have been for the past almost year or do I take a more tactful aproach and simply pretend I never left the world of internet blogging? That is the question.

If I was an outlaw, a bushranger, a thief on the run from the law I would have been hiding out. No one would be able to find me, even less those pesky proselytisers that never fail to nock on your door at some ungodly hour on a Sunday morning, while you are inevitably on the lounge nursing a painful hangover and a small bottle of barocca (fizzigood).

Alas I am not a bushranger, outlaw or a thief...on the run. But for arguments sake lets pretend I was for the past year. Hell now I'm even reformed. Not reformed in a religious or a political sense but reformed in the sense that I am not partaking in any form of vagrancy that requires a hide out.

With this being my third coming I intend to update this blog at least weekly but I never truly make my intentions clear so it may be more frequently.

Because straight away I know that it doesn't matter one iota what I say you are still gonna tell me what you believe and try an kick some heathen ass at least figuratively.

Recently I have started responding differently to everyone. It is a little known fact that I am a disgraced Muslim. I converted to Islam with the sole intention of committing apostasy. For blasphemy day last year. So sometimes I'm islamic. Sometimes I'm a bokononist. Sometimes I'm a frisbeetarian. Sometimes I am each and am evolving spiritually. I use comedy to belittle faith to the point where my interrogator doesn't want to expound their own religion upon
Me due to feelings of inadequacy.

It'd great!!

A bit on the two religions:
Bokononism-

Is a belief that peole just came into being out of a swamp and the belief that the whole religion is based on a pack of foma or lies. This includes all of the proclaimed holy book and contained stories and poems. In a sense it is the ultimate nihillistic religion.

It also has the rather fetching idea if bokomaru or touching of the soles of the feet together to convey love and respect.

Frisbeetarianism-
Is the belief that when you die your soul goes up and gets stuck on the roof. And is by far my favourite religion.

Nanoism is also an interesting religion dreamt up by the fantastic Douglas Adams whereby conversions are made by wiggling your little finger at someone. Apparently most everyone has been converted at some point without knowing making it the mist prevelant religion in the universe.

- It's time we said no to apathy

Location:Maragani Ct,Samford Valley,Australia

Pending...

This post is pending approval from God and is subject to the poster aka the disciple having had at least 10 hours sleep in amy 48 hour period. Not only can we be passionate about it be we can see the results while we are still alive and have reason to be passionate whilst watching. It is real is what I am trying to say I think.

I have played soccer for 8 years and refereed it for 9 after I stopped playing however I find myself detached when watching mist games I would prefer to watch the referee than the play as I think the sport for me doesn't hold that magic anymore.

Last night however was the State of Origin rugby league battle the second match Of three played each year. To determine which east coast state is supreme. For my American followers I highly recommend watching the match on YouTube or a sports website it will definitely change your view on football and to me having grown up with this tradition of origin and state pride these three games played anually hold the most passion in a sporting event for me. It truly is edge of your seat stuff. My religion. Not at all religion is fallacy origin is as real as it comes.

Once again fantastic work QLD let's make it six next year!!

Queenslander!!!!!

- It's time we said no to apathy

A psychological edge

Learning is the key to getting the most out of life whether you learn things in the street or in the classroom. Which is why we must endeavour to teach ourselves as much as possible no matter what circumstances we are in and whether we are already being taught by others.

Naturally teachers, tutors, people will put a bias on anything they teach or say. That is the form of human nature to adhere to the ego being a driving force. If there is no ego how will we survive?

It's therefore extremely important to allow your own bias to effect some things first given the primacy effect (the first impression influencing subsequent thoughts). Thus if a tutor is to inform you that string is made from human hair then that will influence the way you view string.

This is also an important factor in any form of argument. Should your aim be to change the mindset of your adversary then it is undoubtedly best to present your side first.

Please note the above are demonstrated psychological principles based on statistical evidence from an array of studies. Im simply far too lazy to include a bibliography Here.

- It's time we said no to apathy for without religion we suffer no constraints.

But how do atheist pray?

Happy holidays and partys please...

I'm sick, tired and unremarkably late for work again. It's fatal this time you know I can feel th nausea and just know that at some point I will die of that deadly overexpressive freckle which clearly harbours ulterior motives. It's unlikely that I will die of the sore throat but one thing is clear all of the "evidence" is pointing to the mortal end for me.

My mind starts whirring, a slow process I'll admit but one I rather like the sound of. That's when I start to really contemplate my options. I think back to what the majority of society do when placed in the same albeit similar circumstances and then it strikes me like a train with a beyond blue advertisement on the front: I should pray... But who do arheists pray to?

The usual names spring to mind; Satan, dawkins(supposedly a reincarnated of Satan based on conclusive evidence from the church), the flying spaghetti monster, hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Marx, Bokonon.

Then I remembered the religion I had taken up only two months prior to my imminent near death. Frisbeetarianism. Fucks me who the god is but it's a surefire way to get to watch the rest of these religious nuts screw up society for all eternity.

More on Frisbeetarianism and Bokononism next time.

- It's time we said no to apathy

Special
To be religious is to somehow be held in such high regard. It is begging for respect. Asking for acknowledgement of it's own perceived benefits. If you wear the cross the signet ring or the holy wart of antwon then you are clearly privileged, clearly the fact that you have an ego the size of the combined mass of an elephant fucking a 747 jet should entitle you to respect and subservience from those less aquainted with the holy in only one sense of the word garblewobbe texts of your doctrin. Surely.

You understand it because it makes sense to you an as a result you have no problem spouting it as fact. Which from it's elevated status and position it clearly must be. You wouldn't dispute that we have eyes so why would you dispute an ancient book. Umm because it's outdated the last update was many a year now passed. The religious are truly special. Thank god He invented dolts otherwise he would have er zero believers.

And as the Monkees said about God - Oooh I'm a believer I couldn't leave Him if i tried.

- It's time we said no to apathy

Ps. Brisbanes prestigious comedy venue played host to the very very amusing Lindsay Webb who thrilled the audience with many a witty remark.

One of the comments reffered Jesus the carpenter from nazarith who should he ever return, admittedly extremely late he may find working as a carpenter presents some new challenges. Such as workplace health and safety issues regarding the wearing of thongs/sandals and heaven forbid letting him get his hands on a nail gun he might end up accidentally crucifyingnhimself hell not again.

It is lovely to watch comedy and I always find myself absolutely in agreement when it comes to taking the piss out of religion. Hehe.

Check out Lindsay Webb on YouTube I highly recommend him.

- It's time we said no to apathy

Location:Elizabeth St,Brisbane,Australia

Folly, kids and inanity not insanity

I find myself grinning as I contemplate the proportions to which propaganda mongering proselytisers will go. In typical fashion the religious entities which proclaim to protect and solicit the goodness in society have struck back at the dawkins and FFRF no religion campaign and made clear their childishness with a menagerie o unsubstatiated links to the usual suspects hitler, Stalin et cetera. It seems the people with the least sense of humour in the world are religious - they get offended by comedians when they go to comedy shows, they think that the bible is not the huge joke it is and take it literally, I mean break out the glum.

The huge ad erected in Auckland shows the unhappy couple in bed accompanied by the slogan: "Poor Joseph. God was a hard act to follow."
In the fresco-style work, Joseph looks down red-faced while an anguished Mary looks to the heavens.
The billboard, which has been vandalised by angry Christians who say it is blasphemous, was erected by progressive Christian church, St Matthew's Rev Glynn Cardy.
Its vicar, Archdeacon Glynn Cardy, said it was a cutting-edge strategy to engage non-believers. [It is humourus at least]
"Progressive Christianity is distinctive in that not only does it articulate a clear view, it is also interested in engaging with those who differ. [Traditional religion doesnt have a clear view either, it's just that they are convinced by themselves that they do]
"Its vision is one of robust engagement."
But the city's Catholic diocese said the implication that Mary and Joseph had just had sex was "disrespectful" and "offensive" to Christians.
Spokeswoman Lyndsay Freer said it was particularly inappropriate given the inference was wrong.
"Our Christian tradition of 2,000 years is that Mary remains a virgin and that Jesus is the son of God, not Joseph," she said.
But statistics show New Zealanders may need such edgy advertising to help spark interest in religion.
The 2006 Census showed that 32.2% - or 1.3 million Kiwis - profess to have no religion, an increase of 270,000 on the previous survey.

A recent atheist fundraising campaign to put controversial "No God" posters on buses was overwhelmed with donations.
Organiser Simon Fisher said the campaign, which mimics one that ran in Britain, was designed to break religious taboos.
"Religion should not be a taboo subject that no one brings up at dinner parties," he wrote on the NZ Atheist Bus website

Ah at last religion attempting to be rational. I will sleep contentedly tonight.

Thanks to bigotry

It is with great pleasure that I would like to invite someone special to the stage.
Please give a very warm welcome to BIGOTRY!!!!!!!!!!!

Wooo! Yeah!!! Show us your tits!!!

It is with prevailing sadness that this above is the attitude accepted and engaged in by most every religious organization and definitely every fanatical or exclusive religious clique in the world shares these wonderful trates. Such as:

Freedom to indoctrinate
Hate
Suffering
Bigotry
Spite
Intolerance
Superiority and Inferiority Complexes
Faith
Blindness

Et cetera ad infinitum.

And they believe these are the ideal qualities to produce a peaceful society, to make it to the most holy of invented places, paradise after death. I mean, seriously???

The Swiss Cheese Analogy

My father has recently rediscovered my copy of "The God Delusion" by the esteemed Richard Dawkins. Now none of this is particualarly odd, nor is Richard Dawkins' excellent deconstruction of faith in which he tears the foundations of religion apart with reasoning and logic expressed in a clear concise manner.

It strikes me as extremely absurd that people can spend their entire lives believing the rubbish which is spewed from the propaganda mills of the religious, without so much as thinking about it or questioning the many gaps and fallacies which are so glaringly obvious in their holy texts and tradional rites. These gaps, or holes, are so consistent throughout religions, not only the christian brands or the islamic brands but all religions that religion itself comes to resemble a block of swiss cheese, it only takes one to notice that if they are buying by the cubic decimetre they are being gibbed out of their money due to all of the holes and air pockets within the cheese. Religion is full of holes, and not at all what it seems, although swiss cheese is beautiful and tastes fantastic, it is riddled with holes which in religions case represent lies, contentious points, miscopied articles, poor tying together of the stories and ammendments over the generations of authors or if you are a theologist: contributors.

Theology-
Now I am wandering on a dangerous tangent and to be honest I can't be fucked pulling this post back onto topic. Does theology not strike you as an entirely worthless study from a belief and a truth perspective. If it were studied solely to understand the psychology of the sheep mentality, mass delusion or belief neuropsychology then it would be understandable, if it were studied for the purposes of history and historical significance only on the value of it';s massive destructive impact on society and the course of many world events then again it would be worthwhile. However, I contend that the study of theology for the purposes of proving or disproving a divine prediciment or creator, or a religions validity in story is entirely and utterly pointless. For those wishing to prove there is a God, studying a book written by mortals is not going to help, for those wishing to disprove the same, basing your counter proof on the fallacy in the first place is hardly an ideal point to come from. People need to look at people who are theologians et cetera and ask, what the fuck is the point, because seriously in either case it is a complete waste of time the religioushites(tm) will never believe there book is not true, or will make excuses in either case and the theologists will never prove that God exists without some form of critical scientific approach.

The harm that theology can do was made extremely apparent to me when listening to the newly elected opposition leader of Australia on the topic of reducing carbon emmisions, "I am not a theological opponent to nuclear energy." Now that is a very vague wishy washy statement isn't it oh and on second thoughts, take a double-take WTF does that mean????

A message of hope

It seems I am writing with increasing turbidity on the issues of religion. I feel this is a result of my current unemployed and uni-hollidaying status. I need to go out and challenge some more churches and lead a ransacking of the premiers office. I need to experience the world.

This afternoon I was alerted to a tv series called Takin' Over the Asylum, in which david tennant plays a role. I was watching the first episode and the main characters grandmother was going on about religion and how if he didnay marry he would be sending her and his mother to hell, and that God wants us to suffer...et cetera ad infinitum.

It reminded me that while this is clearly some seriously warped logic there are in fact a vast number of people who will believe this is fact and spew it forth as fact over and over, and yes you are right we see it happening everywhere religion rears its ugly head. We see people of faith when questioned how they could possibly believe in this rubbish and in fact how they can even support its existence they answer with the snide, but the bible says, you must believe to understand - welll DUH!!

It reminds me of my favourite little phrase:
"An asylum for the so called sane" (c)

Which as it happens was the alternative name for this blog when it was first being conceived not all that long ago. I would like to thank you my loyall apostles and all of my readers for returning here for a regular fix of larceny and drivel, it has meant an aweful lot to me, thank you and happy winter/summer solstice!

And don't for one second think that this is the end of my posting for the year, no it is just the start, so see if you can dredge up some more support for Life the Universe and so on, invite your friends over for a barbecue and a perusal of my blog and please save some ham for me, I am rather fond.

Cheers 'n' beers

I am so so so so so so so so excited, please excuse the repitition. Not only is Richard Dawkins speaking, but so too is PZ Meyers and many other idols of mine [note that my idols are in existence].

I have been so overcome with excitement and aprehension that I have forgotten to book flights, or workout how the hell, my girlfriend - if she comes - and I are going to make it to the hotel.

I am also extremely happy to be able to cover the precedings at this prestigious event right here on Life the Universe and Everything in Between, as will many other Australian atheist bloggers. I am quite keen to arrange a dinner meeting with some distinguished bloggers such as sean the blogonaut and so on.

Wish me luck.

Ps. I know it a bit early for the erection, but I really can't wait.

Substitution

I have recently been thinking about the wonders of substituting words for "God" and "Jesus/Jesus Christ" to affect the meaning of biblical quotes and comon phrases.

Common phrases:
"God Bless You" - Fucking Bless You
"Let us pray to God" - Let us pray to snob
"God's sake" - Self evident

I then wondered if this could be better effected by using it to rewrite the bible so that is what I am going to undertake to do, for a far more comedic effect.

"All paths of religion lead to to God" - All paths of religion lead to delusion/jail/eternal death

This one doesn't even need changing so I am including it here for the irony:
"Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action." -The Bible, 1 John 3:18 NRSV

And the closer:::
"You were united to your wife by the Lord. In God's wise plan, when you married, the two of you became one person in his sight."

-You were united to your wife by the stench. In ass wise plan, when you married, the two of you became one person in plain sight.

Ok ok, I know it needs a lot of work but if I could just get my hands on a word document of the whole kit and caboodle and spend some time thinking, rather than just thrashing out garbage then I think I could really make something out of this. Lemme know what you're thinking on this one folks.
