One of the most fascinating parts, to me, of selling ce ramic beads and ceramic jewelry online is when an order comes in from - well, anywhere that is not in the USA. Don't get me wrong - I love seeing my pieces go all over the United States too....But what a rush it is to know that my goodies are going to far away lands...and I don't even have a passport!

International order make up a significant percentage of my sales and I am most grateful! However, I do find myself often pondering how to advertise or target international buyers. I believe there is a market out there - but how do I reach them?

Do you sell worldwide? If so, do you do any targeted marketing? Can you offer me and my readers any pointers?

I look forward to hearing from you - as these items head for Norway!

Muddy Monday

Oh my, it's Monday once again. Yes - it happens every 7 days or so.... I find now that I am working at what I love, I no longer get the Monday blahs! And that's a good thing!

Having taken the plunge into making my ceramic jewelry my "full-time" job, I am realizing how scary that is. I want to thank my wonderful husband for his support.

I am also lucky to have a whole team of support people, in the form of the Etsy Mud Team. This group of ceramic artists and potters have helped me grow in ways that I never imagined. So - I am kicking of my "Muddy Monday" series with a huge shout out to my dearest mud peeps! THANK YOU! Below is a great treasury featuring only a portion of these great artists!

Life is a road that is full of twists and turns - and ups and downs. Hopefully this next section of road is a BIG up!

There comes a time when you need to evaluate the effectiveness of blogging... Do I need to blog? Am I good at it? Why am I blogging? Does anyone care?

I have, after much thought, decided that it is time to give up my blog. It is not worth the stress for me to remember to blog.... to be interesting... to be informative....

One of the assignments in Etsy's Holiday Boot Camp is to take a good look at your shop - and determine what is your best product. What do people like? What do people buy?

So -, dear readers, I ask for your assistance. Let me know what your favorite item is in my shop and why. OR - for those of you who are super helpful - tell me what you would like to buy - but... (what's stopping you).

Holiday Boot Camp on Etsy

Better late then never, I have decided to make the commitment to follow Etsy's Holiday Boot Camp!

I, Jessica Sharrah, pledge to participate in the Etsy Success Holiday Boot Camp to the best of my abilities. I vow to check in every week, do my homework and support my fellow Holiday Boot Campers. I will read the weekly newsletters and blog posts, check in on the weekly forum thread, read the weekly blog post, check off the checklists and salute the mascot. I promise to share what I've learned with those who need it, support my fellow Etsy indiepreneurs and, most of all, have a positive and persistent attitude. I understand that together we can spread the word about our handmade and vintage goods, making this holiday season a more unique and meaningful one to gift givers and give-ees everywhere!

A Little Nutty!

Walking around in my yard in the Fall is like a treasure hunt. I love looking for textures to use in my ceramic jewelry.

I was looking at all of the acorns that have fallen from our mighty oak...and realized how beautiful they were. I thought for a few days about how to use them...the caps have a great texture. Finally, on a windy day, it hit me... yes - an acorn hit me. (True story!) I learned 2 things that day.... First - DO NOT stand under an Oak tree on a windy day and second, Mother Nature and I make a great creative team.

I made a mold of the acorn. I created a bunch of little nuts out of red earthenware clay..then glazed them as realistically as possible.

Here is the result:These will be listed today in my Etsy shop. I would love your feedback - tell me what you think!

As I was tidying up the studio.. Ok - it was a massive cleaning... I discovered some ceramic bands that had not been sold! This evening I began listing them - at clearance prices. I will be listing them all day tomorrow too. Super limited quantities and colors.

It's time to move forward - clear out the cobwebs (and older inventory). So - get them while you can! Check out my clearance section - and tell a friend.
