Captain America - The First Avenger

We just watched Capt. America today at SM City Cebu. It wasn't our planned weekend getaway but things turned out to change. We where supposed to go out and experience horse back riding, fishing and zipping away in the town of Liloan, Cebu, but it got canceled. Manilyn was kind enough to treat me out. God bless her! LOL.

The movie was great. It's amazing how Chris Evans (Steve Rogers) got shrunk. He was really skinny and short. The effects was good and his character fits him well. You'll really see how deserving Steve Rogers is, to be chosen as the super soldier, fearless, a person with great will for his friends and country.

You will also see Howard Starks in the movie, father of Tony Starks also known as Iron Man. A great inventor, the person who made Captain America's shield.

His nemesis Red Skull portrayed by Hugo Weaving a evil leader for the Nazi's in the movie who captured an artifact coming from Odin (Thor's father). I was waiting for Hitler to come out and see how Capt. America will kick is butt, but I he didn't, it didn't happened. It was typical movie where the good guy won't get hurt even though you put a hundred army against him.

Overall it was a good movie specially to the children, they will surely love it. And last thing don't leave your sit after the movie, wait for the end credits to finish. You'll witness a glimpse of the upcoming Avengers movie on May 2012. I just can't wait for it.

Sisig is a traditional Filipino dish having diced meat seasoned with onions, peppers, vinegar, calamansi juice and a bit of spices. This recipe is famously served in bars cause this go so well with liquor and beer, one of Filipino's most in demand "pulotan". Now it is served in some famous restaurants across the Regions.

As we where busy buying things in the department store section of Robinson's Palce Cebu, we happened to the spot Sisig Sarap Stall. Located beside Red Ribbon's stall in the ground floor, food court.

The aroma of their cooking got my attention. As a fan of spices specially Sisig, Manilyn and I gave it a shot.

It's really not that expensive with your 60 pesos, you can already enjoy their meals. Though they only have four menu's to choose from, yet it's still worth a try.

Last April, Supercare Cebu held another of their string of summer outings. From the mountain views of Hidden Paradise in San Fernando to the white sand beach in Moalboal, I was lucky enough to be invited. Together with Manilyn and her co-workers, we've made the best out of the experience.

Getting there is easy, you can take a ride either by Bus or V-Hire in Cebu South Bus Terminal located along E-Mall (Elizabeth Mall) in Lion Kilat. The trip usually takes 2½ - 3 hours. The bus expense is about 90-120 pesos(for air-conditioned Bus), while the V-Hire costs around 110 pesos. If you have a private vehicle? Much better. It would take you around 1½ hours to get there.

Habal-habal ride to Basdaku, Moalboal

When you get to Moalboal via Bus, you still need to ride a Habal-habal (motorbike) that costs 20 pesos. By the way, entrance fee to Basdaku Beach is only five pesos. Cheap huh?! Cottages with out electricity is only for 200 pesos, if you wish to have electricity you just have to add 50 pesos for it. The cottages also have grills for you to cook onto.

If you plan to rent a room(air-conditioned) for a night, it will cost you 1,400, that is already good for two, with one bed and bath room.

It would be really fun if you try snorkeling and witness the beautiful corals and fishes, and if you do get lucky, I'm sure you'll be able to see the sea turtles around the place.

We've rented a boat for 700 pesos good for 10 people, with inclusion of snorkeling gears and life jackets.

The place has a Mexican style ambiance perfect for spending time with your family, love ones and even to yourself. With different delicacies to choose from, you'll surely have a sumptuous meal. You can also enjoy the place together with your barkada (friends) for they also serve beer. Pizza plus Beer equals Fun!

Mooon Cafe is not that expensive for a classy restaurant, you will enjoy their treats with out spending that much.

For the night, we ordered Pasta Ala Moon (P 123.21), Bacon and Mushroom Pizza (123.21) and Nacho De Salsa (78.57).

Mooon cafe also renders a great service, the staff are really polite and welcomed us hospitably.

Overall, we had a great night together and ended the day feeling better.

The Holy week special at Green Lagoon

A weekend with my family on holy week at Green Lagoon, Compostela. One of the best highlights for me this summer. Relaxing for the holiday, away from work, getting soaked up and burned under the sun, just perfect for the summer specially when your with friends and family.

Green Lagoon Resort is located north of Cebu, in the town of Compostela with beach and a swimming pool suitable for children with slides and water balls. The entrance fee for the resort costs 20 per person, the place has a huge parking space for private commuters. Pool entrance fee costs 100 for adults and 50 for children, if you rent a room you'll get two passes to the resort and pool. The water ball costs 50 per 5 minutes and the cottage costs 1000 pesos. The rooms are air-conditioned(good for two) that costs 1000 pesos per night, with one bathroom and one bed, additional bed costs 150.

Overall, it was a great holiday, awesome get together, and a fun vacation. For me it really doesn't matter where you spend your holidays, as long as you have fun and you spend it with the right people, that would be priceless.

Summer fun in Panglao Bohol

On our trip last month to Bohol, after experiencing E.A.T. Danao and visiting some of Bohol's tourist destination, we couldn't leave the place with out visiting Panglao. If you are a beach lover type of person? Then you'll definitely love Panglao, Bohol. The place features Bohol Beach Club, Alona Beach Resort and some of the Philippines premiere Beach Resorts. With white sand beaches, great services and class a amenities for you to love.

If you find the place costly for your budget, no need to worry. Panglao also has different resorts with less to pay or even better, with nothing to pay at all and yet you can still enjoy Panglao's beautiful white sand beach.

On our last day, we decided to have a swim to one of Panglao's beaches. From Tagbilaran Bohol, we stayed at a cheap pension house- the Mile pension house. The room cost 1,400 pesos over the night, with two beds, one television, one bathroom and air-conditioner. The place was not bad, it was just what we needed to spend the night before going to Panglao.

We where lucky enough to made friend with a tricycle driver, who managed to show us around and had the idea to take us to a public White Sand beach resort in Panglao, near Panglao Bay Resort. From Tagbilaran to Panglao, the travel was about 35-40 minutes, the tricycle ride cost us 75 pesos each with back and forth service. So "sulit!"

The cottage cost 200 pesos. If you have a tent or any shelter you could bring, then you don't need to pay anything at all. We where after the beach of Panglao so we find the venue just great. The beach was nice and the place was great.

Exploring E.A.T. Danao Bohol: The Plunge and Suislide experience

Are you ready for summer? The time to enjoy and have fun under the sun is here. I'm sure everyone is planning going to different places and experience new things. If your out for adventure here's something you'll find interesting. Try the Plunge ride from Danao, Bohol. If your loving extreme adventure this summer? This is the place to be at E.A.T. Danao located 72 kilometers away from Tagbilarn, Bohol, the capital city of Bohol.

Lite Shipping Cebu-Bohol Tubigon | Taking time to relax

E.A.T. Danao stands for "E" Ecological, educational and extreme, "A" for Adventure and "T" for tour. To get there, I would suggest you guys take a trip to Tubigon, Bohol to avoid a long day travel to get to Danao. From Tubigon, you only have to travel about an hour to Danao. Manilyn and I, together with friends took a 7am Lite Shipping boat trip (P 210), that took us 2 hours to get to Tubigon. We needed the extra hour to take a nap. If you want to get there fast? you can take the fast craft (P 200).

We arrived around 10am in Tubigon, Bohol and went straight to Danao. We rented a van that cost P 3000 to get us to E.A.T Danao that included a trip to some of Bohol's famous landmarks. To bad it was raining that day, yet, that didn't stop us. Rain or shine, we have to get that extreme experience.

Passing by the towns of Clarin and Sagbayan we enjoyed viewing Chocolate Hills in getting to Danao. It was almost 12 noon when we arrived. The place was outstanding, with cool breeze of air and great views of nature. Just the right place to have a fun free and exciting summer vacation. To get started, here's a simple price list:

The price is a bit high, yet its worth the pay. If you want to have 10% discount on all rides, you need to get there by Private transportation. For the record, Danao is a bit far from the other tourist spots in Bohol, some drivers find it tiring and time consuming to get there. So this is what the management did, public commuters has to pay the exact price for every ride and 10% of that pay goes to the driver. A good marketing strategy to keep public vehicle drivers from coming.

Too bad we didn't get the chance to try all the rides. We ran out of time and we still have to hurry up to view more of Bohol and most of all, we needed to save more of our money for our next plans. But it was still fun ride despite getting wet with rain. The Plunge experience was the great. You must try it! Feel the thrill and excitement. Its like falling down from Danao's cliff, free falling, you'll feel it for the first 4 seconds, and once you glide to the air, you'll feel the relief. Its a stress relieving experience, you get to shout your lungs out. After the ride, you'll be given a Certificate as an award to yourself.

When trying the Plunge, you'll be given two position options: the Head First position(falling with your head first) and the Sitting Position. We weren't that extreme to try the head first position, but if I ever get the chance to try it again, that would be my next goal.

It was cloudy and rainy that day, you have to watch your step cause its a bit slippery. On your turn to plunge, you'll get instructions from the staff for you to follow. Once your on position wait for the count, "uno, dos, tress, Bombs Awaaaaayyyy!" and off you go. Watch videos below:

Trying the Suislide was also fun. You can slide by doubles or just by yourself. With your body facing down, you'll see how high you are from ground. You can also take pictures while sliding, don't worry your camera wont fall, its locked tight to the harness. At the end point, get ready to smile for pictures will be taken as a souvenir, each photo cost's P 50.

It was on January 5, as I remembered. The same day when my fellow Unlisted DBC buddies and I were given the opportunity to play the Sinulog beat for the Sandiego dance company.

The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral home is located at Parian, Cebu City, across the Barangay Hall and Fire Station. The house is said to bring some memories of the locals around the place.

The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral home is one of the oldest houses in the Philippines. Built in the late 17th Century by a Chinese Merchant residing in Parain.. The house was owned by Maria Eleuterio and Consolacion Yap. The eldest daughter Maria Yap later on married to Don Mariano Sandiego, who was a Cabez de Barangay of Parian in the late 1880's. At this present, the house is in the custody of of Mr. and Mrs. Val Sandiego.

As expected, the house is filled with antique furnitures and old paintings, something that would certainly make you wonder what it is like living back to those days. The house also has numerous religious artifacts. That's no surprise, for the Sandiego's are known for their devotion to Christ.

As I roam into every corner, I have noticed that the house is mixed with Spanish, Chinese and Filipino Culture. You really need to be careful to prevent your self from being a walking disaster. The house isn't that huge, it's simple and beautiful.

OVERDUE: Its been a while.. And I'm back!

Hello guys! It's been awhile seen my last post here on my blog. Well, that has to stop. :)

So, here's a short update on what I did for the past months:

For January, I've been on a lot of gigs with my friends. As member of the Unlisted DBC (a Southwestern University Alumni drum and bugle core), we've been lucky to get a chance to be the instrumentalist of one of Cebu's best dance group, Sandiego dance company (headed by Mr. Val Sandiego), a grand slam champion and hall of famer of the Sinulog Festival.

Our group had been to different events and places with the Sandiego dance company. From hotels, to fancy restaurants, to parties and even to some provinces in Cebu. Really is a fun filled experience, priceless.

The group only had the chance to practice for a week, before the Sinulog Grand Marde Gras. Talk about pressure huh?!,

We had the chance to be a part of the "Halad" held after the Fluvial Parade (Usually held a day before the grand parade) in the Basilica del Sto. Niño. We get to play the Sinulog beat for the Sandiego Dancers. It's great to watch them dance, they are really good performers.

Then on the 3rd Sunday of January, the celebration closer - the Sinulog Grand Marde Gras. For a whole month long of Celebration for Senyor Sto. Niño, this has been the shout, "Pit Senyor!".

Despite getting soaked up under the rain, the celebration continues. Sto. Niño devotees gathered in the streets and the grand stand to watch the street dancing despite getting wet by the rain, and that includes us. Not even the rain can stop the event, we just think of it as a blessing.

Just two days more to go and its Christmas. I guess most of the people are getting excited to open up their gifts huh? Time flies so fast, its Christmas once again. Do you have any plans this Christmas? Well, the best way to spend Christmas is with your family. That would be merry indeed. You get to give presents to your cousins, nieces, nephews, parents and even your grandma's and grandpa's, it'll certainly put a smile on your face seeing them happy with the gifts you bare for them. You'll get the cheer of Christmas spirit in you, that's for sure.

I do hope that people will take time to share some of their blessings to others. A little goodies to the less fortunate family would be a good gift this season. Remember, that it is always better to give specially at this time of the season. It would be so fulfilling to make ones family happy, an act of gratitude to others is an act of Christ. In cooperation with the Cebu City Government, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) launched yesterday the Kasadya sa Plaza 2010 Christmas Bazaar. It is located at the Plaza Independencia. One of Cebu's highlights as the Christmas season comes near. Loads of affordable goodies and different items are being displayed from different stores that are said to be a good bargain for consumers specially this coming Christmas season.

JCI's chapter President Reeve Jumawan said that a series of events will be hosted by the Cebu Chapter until January 24, 2011. As Cebu celebrates "Pasko sa Sugbo", one of its highlights is the Parol and Belen contest with a dangling 30,000 pesos at stake for the first prize winner. Jumawan is encouraging every barangay and other local organizations to participate. The parols and belens will be displayed on the venue inside the Plaza Independencia.

Miss Cebu 2011 Pageant

The Queen City of the South's search for Miss Cebu 2011. One of Cebu's highlights as the Sinulog Festival comes near. The coronation night will be held on January 12, 2011 at 6:30 pm, at the Pacific Grand Ballroom in Waterfront, Cebu City Hotel. The event will be telecast on Studio 23.

Prior to its coronation night, the lovely finalists will be attending local events like; Photo Exhibit on SM City Cebu and Ayala Center Cebu, Sinulog Festival launching at the Fuente Osmeña Circle that would be happen on January 8, 2010 and on TV or Radio guest appearances.

Have you ever imagine what the world would be without music? No singing, no dancing, no parties and no celebrations? That would really suck or should I say, life would be a bore.

Life would be so dead to imagine with the existents of music, knowing that music plays a huge factor in our lives. Music helps us in so many ways like; it helps bring people together, it helps us express ourselves, it helps us feel free and even more, it could even help us change. Yes, change the world...

I was looking over some videos on Facebook, than I saw this video posted by a friend of mine via YouTube. The songs title description was about change and that got me curious.

The video featured people from different races playing music and singing a song in different places. Looking over the video makes you feel like you are one with them. Makes you feel like you want to be a part of it.

Listening to them brings a certain light and hope to me. Somewhat telling me to change and that change is not impossible, no matter who you are or what you are. The video features comprises ordinary people from different places.

This video has over 25 Million viewers on YouTube. The song Stand by Me, that was sung by various artist's all around the world. For me, a positive message is what is being delivered here on this video. Please watch: PLAYING FOR A CHANGE.

CEDF-IT will be celebrating its 9th Anniversary this November 2010 and they are organizing a fun run/fund raising activity called “Run for it” on November 7 (Sunday) at Asiatown IT Park.

Boracay and Cebu top Philippine Destinations - GOOGLE

According to Google, a famous search engine website, the top search queries for Philippines' tourism is "Boracay", "Cebu" and "Boracay Hotels". Google trend released data this month for the top Philippines destination for tourists. The percentage of search grew year and year with150%, 130% and 110%. Boracay and Cebu are both known for there wonderful beaches and breath taking views.

Google's data is inlined with Philippine Department of Tourism's tourist numbers for Boracay which has been growing from 310,000 tourist in 2009 to 365,000 from January to September 2010. This is expected to grow more by the end of the year. Specially with some few airline companies giving off airfare promos.

Hotels in Boracay are preparing to add more rooms and capacity to be able to accommodate the expected increase of tourist, Leah Remora said, a spokesperson for Boracay Hotel Association.
