There may be occasions when you need to track someone's cell phone but you don't want them to know that you are doing it.

A couple of reasons you might want to track someone's cell phone without them knowing about it would be if you think that you you have a cheating wife or a cheating husband. In this case, you can install a cell phone tracking application on their phone to find out exactly where they're going during those "midnight meetings at work".

If you're going to do this, I suggest that you use a covert app like this one or perhaps one that you install on your phone and not the phone that you want to track like this one.

Most cell phone tracking applications make it easy for the cell phone user to know that there is a cell phone locator application installed on their phone. If you have a good reason for tracking someone's phone secretly, the chances are pretty high that the person you are trying to track will be suspicious. They'll most likely check their phone to see if there is any tracking software on it and remove it if they find it. The key is installing an app that they won't find.

There is one app that is perfect for anonymous cell phone tracking called SpyBubble. This is a "covert" tracking application that is easily installed on a cell phone in a matter of minutes. After you install it, you'll be able to track the location of that phone in real time from any computer that has an Internet connection!

The best thing about this one is that it is a covert application that makes it difficult for people to know that they're being tracked with their cell phone.

You never know what you might find out when you install this app on someone's cell phone. You may find out that your significant other has been cheating on you for quite some time. You may find out that your children are going places where they should not be going at night. There are all kinds of things that might surprise you.

Don't waste even one more day worrying and wondering if the person that you are in a relationship with is actually cheating on you! You DON'T deserve to live this way!

People just like you are catching their cheating spouses with this app all the time and you can too!

Picking The Right Cell Phone Locator App For Your Needs

If you have somehow found your way to my website hoping to learn about GPS cell phone tracking applications and technology, boy do I have a treat for you. My site is full of helpful articles that are sure to be just what you are looking for.

Choosing A Cell Phone Tracker Application

While there are several free applications available to choose from these days, my experience has been that most people who come looking for this kind of software want to track someone while remaining undetected. If this sounds like the kind of software that you are looking for, I suggest that you check out this one: Undetectable Cell Phone Tracking Software

If you're simply looking for one to help you find your phone if you lose it, there are several cool tracking services for consumers to use these days. There is Google Latitude, Sprint Family Locator, Find My iPhone, Glympse, and more. Some work with the new programmable smart phones and others like the Sprint Family Locator and Glympse, work with non-programmable phones. We should all be grateful that cell phone locator technology is available and in operation today.

How Phone Tracking Apps Work

Now I'd like to take a minute and tell you how cell phone locator services actually work and which apps you should use. Many people have heard that cell phones have GPS capabilities. Few of those people, however, actually understand why GPS receivers are built into modern smartphones and how this technology is actually utilized for tracking a cell phone.

Initially the reason that cell phones were equipped with GPS sensors wasn't so we could use mobile phone tracking apps. It was so that 911 emergency operators could find you in the event that you made an emergency call from your cell phone.

If you ever call 911 from your home phone, the operator will know where you called from instantly thanks to caller ID. This makes it possible for them to get the necessary emergency response vehicles rolling before you even give them your address! This can be very important when a few short minutes could mean the difference between life and death.

When people started using cell phones so much, this caused a really big problem. Many times when people call 911 from their cell phones, they have a difficult time articulating to the emergency operator their exact location. A specialized cell phone locator feature built into modern cell phones can help 911 operators find you when they need to so you can receive help much faster. This service is called "enhanced 911" and since it's inception, this cell phone tracker feature has saved many lives.

The GPS chip in your phone makes it possible for a cell phone locator app to know exactly where your phone is anywhere on the planet. In the past, the only way that cell phones could be located was through pinging and triangulation. This just wasn't accurate enough for emergency personnel and as a result of the lack this methods accuracy, many lives were lost.

It should be mentioned that in order for these services to work with a cell phone, the phone must be in a cellular service area. The way cell phone tracker applications work is by sending a signal to the cell phone requesting that the phone use it's GPS receiver to record it's location. When it has acquired its location, the coordinates are then transmitted through the cell phone towers to the phone locator software the request originated from. This is why the phone must be in a service area for mobile tracking to work.

It's important to note that in order for you to begin tracking a cell phone with a GPS tracking app, you must first download and install one of these apps onto the phone that you would like to be able to track. This means that you need to have a programmable cell phone. These are most often referred to as "smartphones". These are typically mobile devices like the iPhone, Google Android powered phones, Windows Mobile powered phones, Blackberries, and more.

You'll find many articles about phone tracking and other technology related topics here on my website. I've placed a convenient search box at the top left portion of every page on my site to help you find exactly what you might be looking for.

Please note that you can find a full list of the GPS tracking apps that I have written about on this website by clicking on the tab at the top of your screen labeled "Free Phone Tracking Apps List".

If for one reason or another you're having a hard time finding what you came here searching for, please feel free to send me an email at tabithacrowelino@yahoo.com. There are a number of reasons that this device might come in very handy.

Let's say for example that you believe that your teenage son or daughter is involved in drugs and you want to check to find out for sure. Chances are that they will receive and send text messages to their drug dealers with their cell phone. Heck, they might even be the drug dealer.

Because most people who are engaged in this type of activity will do all that they can to cover their tracks, they will undoubtedly delete their text messages to prevent you from getting a chance to read them.

Another good example might be if you believe that you have a wife or husband who is cheating on you. With the use of this device, you can easily extract the deleted text messages and find out if your suspicions are actually true.

The name of this device is Dekart SIM Card Reader and off it's really quite affordable at only $33.00. Here's how it works. You simply remove the SIM card from a cell phone and insert it into one end of the device. Then you plug the other end into your computer's USB port. The software that comes with this handy gadget will immediately download all of the information that is stored on the SIM card to your computer. It will even recover deleted SMS text messages and call logs.

If you have the need to recover deleted text messages, you really can't afford to be without one of these devices. Buy one today!

Click here to learn more about this amazing cell phone spy gadget!

Read Deleted Text Messages The "Stealthy Way"

If you want to be stealthy when it comes to recovering deleted text messages, you can install a special app on the phone that is undetectable to the cell phone user. This app will allow you to track the phone using GPS but it will also provide you a detailed log of all the text messages that were sent from the phone and all the text messages that were sent to the phone.

Not only will it tell you what numbers the text messages were associated with, it will tell you EVERYTHING that was said in the text!

Google Latitude Cell Phone Tracking App

Today I'd like to talk about one of the most popular free cell phone tracking applications that is available today and it's called Google Latitude.

Several years ago, Google launched their amazingly popular mapping service called Google Maps. Since then, they have really been expanding their mapping tools by unveiling Google Earth as well as Google Maps for smartphones.

Google latitude is by far the most popular app of it's kind in my opinion. Literally millions of people use this software and the number of people using it is growing everyday.

Google's tracking service works on several phones. Here's a link to a post on my site that will talk about the phones that are currently supported with this application: Phones That Work With Google Latitude

Okay, let's take a minute and talk about why Google Latitude is so popular. The main reason that people love this tracking service is because Google has combined the ever popular social networking phenomenon with GPS based cell phone tracking.

Seem like a strange combination? Well, when you think about it, it's not really strange at all. People will spend hours on end staring at their Facebook newsfeed to find out what their friends are up to. Doesn't it make sense that they would also want to know where their friends are hanging out?

Here's how the app works. You download the software and install it on your phone. Then you get your friends who also have smartphones to download and install the app. Next you send "friend requests" to those friends. When they accept the request, you'll both instantly have the ability to track each other using Google Latitude!

Imagine being out on the town on Friday night and you want to know where all your friends are hanging out. All you'll have to do is use the Google Latitude app on your cell phone to find out where the hotspot of the night is.

Google has even added a feature that allows people to do what is called "check in" with the app. When you check in somewhere, instead of your Google Latitude friends simply being able to see your location on a Google Map, they will see the actual name of the place you have checked in. If you're hanging out at a hot new dance club and you check in with Latitude, your friends will be able to see that you're hanging out at the new dance club and meet you there if they want to.

Here is a link that you can use to download the app if you are interested in doing so: Click Here To Download Google Latitude

If you download it and start using it, be sure and shoot me an email at tabithacrowelino@yahoo.com and tell me how you like it!

Prey Anti-Theft GPS Phone Tracker App

Today I'm pleased to share another free cell phone locator application with you called "Prey Anti-theft. As you most likely know, many of the phone tracking applications are designed for the purpose of keeping track of your co-workers, family members, and friends but this one is a bit different.

The designers of this app primarily made it for the purpose to tracking down and retrieving a stolen smartphone. It can even be used to track and recover a stolen laptop!

The app is open source and it works on phones that are running the Google Android OS as well as PC's, Mac's, and Linux computers.

Here's how it works. First you need to download and install the app on the devices you would like to be able to track. During the install process, you will be prompted to sign up for a free account and register your devices. Then, once it is installed and running on your devices, it's ready to help your recover your lost or stolen device whenever you may need it.

Now, if you ever need to recover your device, you simply use the Prey Anti-Theft web based tool to report that your device is missing. There are a number of options on this screen that you can select such as what methods to use for locating your device as well as the frequency in which the software will look for your device, and how often you'll receive tracking reports.

You can even choose an option that will sound an alarm or display a message on the device. Additionally, you can send a code to your phone or laptop that will lock it which will prevent unauthorized access.

After you have reported that the device is missing, the system will begin searching for your device. If the thief happened to turn you device off to prevent you from tracking it, the Prey system will repeatedly try to locate it at predetermined time intervals. When the device has been turned back on, the Prey system will determine it's location and forward the coordinates to you in an email.

Most computers don't have GPS receivers built into them so the software will use Wi-Fi hotspots to narrow down your stolen computer. It will even activate the webcam on your computer so that you can capture images of the thief!

If the person who stole your phone changes the SIM card so that they can reactivate the phone and begin using it as their own, this security tracking software will detect the presence of the new SIM card and continue to provide you with the information that you'll need to recover your phone.

If you have the need to track a lot of devices, you can upgrade to the "pro" version that is capable of tracking over 100 devices as well as unlocking a slew of other powerful security tracking features build especially for power users in mind

If you are looking for a no nonsense security tracking app, I suggest you give Prey Anti-theft a try. If you would like to try it out, you can get it here: Download Prey Anti-theft

SeekDroid Phone Tracking App

Today I'll be telling you about a phone tracking app that is almost free but not quite. You can pick the SeekDroid app up in the Android Market or the Amazon Apps Store for only 99 cents.

SeekDroid is a multi-purpose app much like MobiWee. Allow me to take a minute and run down some of the features that you'll have access to if you decide to use this app.

You can use this app to find the location of your phone at any time. Of course you can install it on other phones and keep track of the people carrying them as well if you would like.

You can even access the call logs for the phone that the app is installed on. If you want to monitor who your children are talking to with their phone, you can do this easily with SeekDroid. If you share minutes on a family plan, you can log in to check the call logs for each phone on the plan and find out if one member of your family seems to be using their phone too much.

This app also has the "remote lock" feature which is one of my favorite features. When you mistakenly leave your phone in your dorm room. You can remotely lock the phone and keep people from snooping through your personal information or making prank calls.

Here's a feature that I really like! How many times have you misplaced your phone in your house so you tried to call it only to realize that the phone is on silent or vibrate? With SeekDroid, you can use the system to send a signal to the phone which will cause it to sound a loud alarm, EVEN if your ringer is turned off.

Here's a really cool feature! Once the app is installed on a particular phone, you can set a feature that will hide the app so that the person carrying the phone won't know they can be tracked. This is an especially handy feature for keeping tabs on teenagers. If your teenager knows that you have a tracking app on their phone, they will probably remove it. With SeekDroid, they won't have any idea that it's even there so they won't think to try and disable it.

Lastly, you can remotely delete everything on the phone for those occasions when it might have been stolen and you're pretty sure you won't be able to get it back.

I'm sure you surmised by now that this app is for Android powered phones. More specifically, the phone must have Android 2.2 or later installed on it. You must also subscribe to a data plan with your cellular phone service provider because the app needs an Internet connection to function properly.

If you would like to dowload this app, you can get it here: Download SeekDroid

Track Down A Cell Phone For Free with InstaMapper

Today I have another article for you that will discuss another free cell phone tracking program for you. More specifically, I'm going to teach you how to track down a cell phone for free with an application called InstaMapper.

One of the things that many people like about this tracking app is that it works on a number of different types of cell phones. Currently this app will work with Android phones, iPhones, Motorola iDEN phones and BlackBerry phones.

I think it's kind of funny that the makers of this app have a statement that basically says, "Our app might work on other types of phones but we're not sure". I guess if you don't have one of the phones that are on the list of supported devices, you can always try and see what happens. Like they say, it "might" work.

This app couldn't be more simple to use. Let me take a minute and walk you though how to track down a cell phone for free using this app.

Step one: Sign up for a free InstaMapper account here.

Step two: Download the app onto your phone.

Step three: Insert a special 13 digit code into the app on your phone.

Step four: Walk around outside for a few minutes so the app will start reporting its location.

Step five: Login to InstaMapper website from your computer and see the location of your phone displayed on the screen.

It's really that simple and the entire process of setting this app up and signing up for a free InstaMapper account will only take about five minutes.

Some of the things I like about this app are that you have the ability to control how often the app reports the location of your phone to the InstaMapper system. When you first download the app, it will default to 5 seconds.

I should point out that the tool will only report your location every five seconds if you are moving more than 20 miles per hours AND someone is actually tracking your phone within the InstaMapper website.

If you're phone is moving slower than 20 mph, the app will report the location of your phone once per minute. If you would like to change this setting, it's quite easy to do from within the app on your phone.

This app isn't difficult to set up at all. There are only a few settings that you can change. You can select an option to force the app to automatically start every time you turn your smartphone on.

If you would rather not do that, you can select the option that will allow you to actually start the app by simply sending a text message to your phone. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this feature!!!

Lastly, you can chose whether or not you would like the app to run in "conspicuous mode" or if you would like it to remain "inconspicuous". I personally chose the latter because I don't want someone who steals my phone to know that I have the ability to track it using GPS.

If you would like to learn more about how to track down a cell phone for free with the InstMapper app, you can click here: InstaMapper FAQ

Thanks so much for reading this article on my website! If I can answer any questions for you about this app or cell phone tracking apps in general, please don't hesitate to send me an email at tabithacrowelino@yahoo.com.

Life360 - Ultimate Safety Tracking App

Many tracking apps such as SpyBubble are designed for the purpose of "secretly" tracking someone's location. Today we're going to be talking about a free mobile locator program that is geared more towards making sure that your family member stay safe.

The app that I'll be sharing with you today is called Life360 and it's available for FREE from the Android Market or the Apple Apps Store. This means that this app functions with phones that are running the Google Android operating system and Apple iPhones.

You can really tell that the makers of this app had families in mind when they designed it. You can install this app on all of the smartphones that your family members carry and track their location in real-time.

Real-time tracking is a very nice feature for a free app to have. Some apps report delayed location data so if you check on the location of someone, the location reported may be where they "were" and not where they "are".

My favorite feature of this cell phone tracking software is that the developers figured out a way to create private family "channels". Let me take a minute and tell you what this means and why it's useful.

With many GPS location based service apps, like Google Latitude, foursquare, or Gowalla, users can "check in" which lets their friends know where they are are at that time. With Life360, users can also check in with a simple tap of a button but their location will remain private and only members of the "family channel" will receive the update of the location of the person who checked in.

Think of how difficult it is to convince your teenage children to "call mom" to let her know everything is okay. This kind of thing is humiliating to teenagers when they are hanging out with their fiends. If they use Life360, they can check in by simply taping the "check in" button in this free phone tracking application. Because they can do this discretely, they're much more likely to keep parents informed about where they are.

Some of the other features that make this app stand out as a family safety app are the ability of the software to keep track of the nearest hospitals. If your family member ever needs to get to the hospital fast but doesn't require an ambulance, this feature is very handy. They can simply look at the app and find the hospital that is closest to then.

This next feature is really quite innovative! You can use the app to identify any registered sex offenders who may be living near the location that the phone is currently in. This is really a useful tool. Imagine that your children are staying the night at a friends house for a slumber party. You can use the location data that the app provides to find our if any of the neighbors of the kid's house they are staying at are people you should warn them to stay away from.

Another family safety feature is the ability of the app to locate the nearest police station. If your family members are ever feeling like they are being followed or harassed, they can simply drive to the nearest police station using the information they receive from the app and make it to a safe place.

If you would like to learn more about this great family tracking app, you can do so by clicking here: Learn More about Life360

The MobiWee Free Cell Phone Locator

Today I'd like to tell you about another free cell phone tracker application. The app we'll be talking about today is called MobiWee. This is one of the few "multi-purpose" apps that is available to download.

It almost seems to me like this app was designed for managing the files and data that you store on your phone and they added the ability to locate the cell phone using GPS as an afterthought.

The ability to track a lost or stolen cell phone with MobiWee is just one of the features that this application comes with. You can also use the "file manager" feature to manage any of the files that might be stored on your phone from your computer. This is really handy for those times when you might have left your phone somewhere but you need access to an important file that happens to be stored on the phone.

You'll also have access to the "SMS Manager" feature if you choose to use this app. With this feature, you can send or receive text messages from the MobiWee online interface just as if you were holding the phone in your hand.

You can also make use of a feature called "Contacts Manager". This feature will allow you to remotely manage you contacts list. You can even synchronize your contacts between your cell phone and your computer with this app.

Another popular feature is called "Remote Lock/Wipe" which will allow you to secure your sensitive personal files remotely for those times when you leave your phone someplace and you don't want your files to fall into the wrong hands.

While I like this app mainly because of the phone tracking feature, my second favorite feature is the "Remote Lock/Wipe" feature. I can't tell you how many times I leave my phone at work or at freinds houses and this feature is absolutely amazing! Many people think of spy gadgets as only the types of things that are used in movies or perhaps by the secret service or the CIA but they actually have many practical uses for everyday people.

Some of the types of real spy gadgets that I'll be talking about briefly are cell phone locator applications, keylogger software, and hidden cameras.

Most people know about cell phone tracker applications and how they work so I won't go into very much detail about them specifically. The only thing that you should know is that if you want to use one for covertly recording information about another person, the best thing to do is use one that is undetectable.

Some other spy gadgets that you might not be aware of are actually not gadgets but rather a software application. This type of an application is known affectionately as a family keylogger. You probably are more familiar with it as "spyware". Spyware doesn't necessarily have to be bad. There are many good applications for this such as keeping track of what your children are doing on the Internet. Many businesses also use this type of software for tracking their employees to find out what they are spending their time doing while working on company computers.

My favorites spy gadget is what is called a nanny cam when used in the home. This is simply a hidden camera that can be easily stashed in everyday items such as teddy bears or other stuffed animals, behind picture frames, inside alarm clocks, and many other places that people would not think a look. This is perhaps one of the most widely used spy gadgets around the home.

While we're talking about cameras let's talk about some devices that are a little bit different than the traditional gear him but still very useful. These gadgets are hidden cameras that are designed to snap a picture when something triggers a motion sensor. This technology was originally designed for use in the outdoors. Oftentimes hunters would attach these devices to trees to get a good idea of whether or not there is game in the area for them to hunt.

If you're wondering where to find spy gear gadgets for sale, you should know that walking into your local Wal-Mart is going to be a waste of time. Stores like these aren't likely to have any spy gadgets at all that are available to purchase. The very best place to purchase these kinds of devices is through the Internet.

Don't be closed mined. The use of this kind of technology in your home or business can change your life for the better!

Click to find the best prices and largest selection on spy gadgets!

Before you go, you might enjoy reading my article on how to retrieve deleted text messages. Mobile Locator Apps For Cell Phones

Today I'd like to take just a second and explain the difference between a GPS logger and a mobile phone tracker. Both have their place in tracking people but they are each very different from one another.

First let's talk about the GPS logger. This is simply a device that can be either installed on something or carried by someone inside one of their belongings. This device will keep a record of the places the equipment or person carrying the device travels. It is programmed to record its GPS coordinates at predetermined time intervals and store this information in its internal memory. This data can later be downloaded and analyzed. This type of tracking device isn't really designed for "real-time tracking" although some will supply you with this functionality. A GPS logger may be the best choice if you want to find out where someone is going or you want to track something like vehicles or shipment of merchandise. They are easy to conceal and the person won't have any idea that you are tracking them.

Now, let's talk about the mobile locator. It isn't actually a device at all. It is simply software that you install on a cellular phone. These apps can function as a GPS logger and keep a "bread crumb" trail of the places the phone was carried but they are more commonly used for "real-time tracking". Users of these apps will be able to log into the tracking system's website and find the location of a cell phone that has the program installed on it.

A cell phone locator is often preferred because you don't have to purchase any equipment in order to use it and people these days don't go anywhere without their cell phones.

Thanks for reading my article. If you're still in the mood to read, I would like to suggest that you check out my article called How To Retrieve Deleted Text Messages.

When Will Verizon Get The iPhone?

If you've been asking yourself the question of when will Verizon get the iPhone, after reading this article you can stop wondering. That's because it has already happened believe it or not. On February 10th, 2010 the new Verizon iPhone was unleashed for the world to enjoy.

There can be no doubt that the iPhone has been the most popular of any of the smartphones to ever hit the market. It was actually one of the very first smartphones and it was responsible for changing the expectations people had for their cell phones.

Unfortunately, Apple had an exclusive deal with AT&T for many years so only their customers could use the popular cellular phone. People have been begging Apple to make the iPhone available for use on other networks for some time now and it has finally actually happened!

Does this mean that you'll soon be able to use the iPhone on any network? Not likely. One of the key marketing strategies that wireless companies employ is that if you want to use a particular brand or model of mobile device, you have to become their customer. Think of it as "electronic gadget bait". They lure you in with the promise of being able to use the latest and coolest technology if you'll only sign two year's of your life over to them.

Thanks for reading and be sure and check back soon for more interesting articles on my cell phone locator website like my most recent article on how to retrieve deleted text messages.

Is The Verizon Family Locator Worth The Money?

If you are a Verizon customer and you are familiar with their cell phone tracking application which was once called Chaperone®, you should know that it has been revamped and given a new name. These days they call their cell phone locator service the Verizon Family Locator.
I’m sure the reason that they did this was mainly because people simply weren’t aware that Verizon even had a cell phone tracking service. The name Chaperone® did little to spread the word about this program among their customers.

A couple of the big names in cell phone tracking are AT&T’s FamilyMap program and the Sprint Family Locator from Sprint. Both of those programs are quite different than Verizon’s program in the sense that any phone that works on their network will also work in their cell phone tracking plan. Conversely, not all of the phones that are capable of functioning for making phone calls on the Verizon network will be able to be located with the Verizon Family Locator. There is a list of supported phones on the family locator website.

How much does it cost?

Well, Verizon didn’t follow in either Sprint’s or AT&T’s footsteps when they introduced their Family Locator program. Their program is more expensive than either of the others. At the time this article was written which was March 2011, it will cost you $9.99 to be able to track only one phone! That’s a little steep when you consider that for the same amount of money you can track two phones on the AT&T program or you can track four phones for only $5.00 a month with Sprint.

Where does it work?

Verizon’s mobile phone tracking application will only function if the phone is in a Verizon cellular coverage area. If you are roaming with your phone, the service will no longer be able to provide you with location for the phones in your tracking network. Additionally, the only phones that can be located using the system are phones that are on be on a Family SharePlan®.

What do I like about this program?

A few things that I like about Verizon’s take on cell phone tracking is that they have offered features that other companies don’t offer. One such feature is the “arrivals and departures updates” feature. This is a great way to receive automatic text messages or emails when the person that you have this feature enabled for either arrives or departs from a particular location.

I also like that there is an application that can be downloaded and installed on the phones you would like to locate that will enable the service to provide a more accurate location of cell phones. This application isn't required but if you do download it and install it, the results provided to you when you need to locate a phone will be much more accurate. Verizon claims that their service can locate a cell phone from as close to as 50 meters to as much as 150 meters.

One thing that I found especially nice was that Verizon seems to do a much better job in terms of providing documentation for their service. I found their website to be very useful and easy to understand when it comes to setting up the service and configuring it to work in the way that you would like to work.

What I don’t like about the service.

I don’t like that Verizon charges so much more to use this service than the others do. If there are four cell phones in your Family SharePlan®, it will cost you $40.00 a month to add them to the Family Locator program. With AT&T, you can track five cell phones for only $14.99 and with Sprint you can track four cell phones for only $5.00 a month. I think that Verizon has priced themselves a little bit out of the game.

Would I use this service?

I would probably pass on the Verizon Family Locator simply because of the expense involved. There are applications that can be downloaded and used that don’t have as many features but would still work quite well well for my needs. The only real feature that I can see that Verizon offers that the others don’t is “Arrival And Departure Updates” and I really don’t see that this feature warrants charging as much as they do for the service.

I hope you found this article helpful. Trusting the safety of $400 smartphone in the hands of a nine year old is more than a little risky. AT&T realized this when designing their FamilyMap program. Any phones that currently work with AT&T's cellular network will also work on the FamilyMap tracking program.

If you want to give this service a try, AT&T has graciously provided a 30 day trial for their customers. Most people will like the service and want to stay with it and those that do will be charged either $14.99 to be able to track five cellular phones or $9.99 to be able to track two cellular phones.

Many AT&T customers also have iPhones so it makes sense that there would be an iPhone application that you can download and use if you would like. This application simply makes it possible for you to review the location of other members of your tracking network on the screen of your iPhone.

I am puzzled by a limitation that this phone tracking application seems to have. The FamilyMap service utilizes GPS to locate certain cell phones that have the capability of calculating their position through GPS. This is the most accurate way to determine the location of cell phone. The second most accurate way is to use a method called triangulation but this method can only display the location of the phone to an accuracy level of between several hundred yards to two or three miles.

For some reason, if you have an iPhone, the service will only use triangulation to locate the phone. I'm really not sure why AT&T chose to go this route.

Regardless of this limitation, the introduction of this new cell phone tracking service from AT&T is a great addition to the many features and services that you can use if you're an AT&T customer.

Perhaps the best feature available with AT&T phone locator is called "Schedule Checks". This is a very cool feature that allows you to program the system to send you a text message or an e-mail at a specific time of day alerting you to the location of the phones you have this feature enabled for. Many parents will appreciate the ability to receive an automatic notice from AT&T letting them know that their children made it home from school without a problem.

If you're an AT&T customer, you really should give this program to try. I think that once you do, you won't want to give it up .

Install a Fleet Tracking Device In Your Company Vehicles

Many people who are interested in cell phone locator applications are also interested in GPS tracking of vehicles. There are many reasons for GPS vehicle tracking but perhaps the most common reason is for the purpose of fleet tracking.

Those who are interested in learning about fleet tracking are usually in the business sector. The job of keeping track of all the vehicles in a particular fleet for a particular company can be a daunting one. This is where it can be very beneficial for companies to install a tracking device in all of their vehicles. When used in conjunction with fleet management software, the overwhelming task of keeping track of all the vehicles that a particular company might own becomes quite simple.

Using a GPS vehicle tracking device in combination with powerful fleet management software makes asset tracking very easy. These software programs have the capability of displaying the current location of all of the vehicles in the fleet on a computer generated map. The ability to quickly and easily see the current location of a particular vehicle in the fleet can be extremely valuable and help a business run much smoother.

A very good example of this might be in the taxicab business. When the dispatcher receives a call from someone saying they would like a ride in a taxicab, the dispatcher will ask for the address that they would like to be picked up from. Within seconds, the dispatcher can quickly look at a computer generated map which will tell them exactly which cabs are nearest to the caller which in turn will help them dispatch the appropriate cab.

In the taxi business, speed is everything! If the taxi company can't get a cab driver there quickly to pick the customer up, the customer is likely to simply call another cab company that can get there quickly.

This is just one example of how using software for asset tracking can help your business be more profitable and run much more smoothly.

Is Phone Spy Software Really Spying?

There are many people that feel like using cell phone spy software is not ethical and should not be done. Let me suggest to you a few reasons why the use of cell phone spying tactics and technologies might be a really good idea.

If you're using this kind of software to peer into the lives of people that you have no authority over, you're probably crossing the line and venturing into unethical territory. On the other hand, the use of it for monitoring people that you have direct authority over such as employees or your children can be a very good use of this technology.

One of the reasons that parents may want to utilize this kind of software is due to the fact that the challenges associated with good parenting are much different today than they were in days past. In the past, it wasn't very easy for children to get on the Internet and look at inappropriate material. You also didn't have to worry about them meeting a dangerous stranger on a social networking website such as Facebook or Myspace. The number of cases where sexual predators lure unsuspecting children into trusting enough to meet up with them in real life has dramatically increased in the last few years.

Parents who want to make sure that they're being as responsible as possibly and doing the best possible job of raising children in this day and age of so many forms of technology should do all they can to learn about the tools that are available to them. One such tool is the phone spy application. This is often referred to as a cell phone tracker application.

Unfortunately, most teenagers are much more versed with modern technology than their parents are. This can put you as a parent at a distinct disadvantage because you won't know the types of things to watch out for and will be unable to recognize the warning signs that you might be able to use to prevent your children from heading down the wrong path or being victimized.

So, as you can see, the method in which cell phone spy applications are actually used really determines whether or not you are violating another person's right to privacy or whether or not you are just being a good parent.

Sprint Family Locator - Another Great Cell Phone Tracking Service

Sprint didn't waste any time in getting in on the GPS tracking bandwagon. They have an amazing cell phone locator program called the Sprint Family Locator that I would like to tell you about today. With this service you can use any Sprint or Nextel phone as a tracking device.

The Sprint Family Locator service is a little different than free services in that they charge a modest fee to use their product. It's only $5.00 a month and for that fee, you can track up to four phones.

There are several reasons that I think the Sprint Family Locator service is cool. The first is that you don't need to own a programmable smartphone and and you don't need to download or install any special software onto your phone in order to be able to use the service. It will work with any Sprint or Nextel cell phone. Even if your phone is and older model! As long as it works on either the Sprint or Nextel network, it will work with this mobile tracking service.

If you just want to try the Sprint Family Locator service out to see if it's something that you will like, Sprint offers a 15 day introductory trial period. If after the 15 days are up, you still like the service and want to stay with it, you will only be billed $5.00 a month.

If you happen to own and use a programmable smartphone, Sprint has a cool application that can be downloaded and installed on your phone for free that will enable you to track those in your Sprint family Locator network directly from your cell phone.

If you don't have one of these new types of mobile devices, you can still use their tracking service by logging into any computer with Internet access. After you log in with your password, you will be able to see the location of the people in your tracking network on your computer monitor.

One very cool feature that Sprint has is that you can set the program up to send you text messages or emails at specific times of the day giving you the exact location of the members of your Family Locator network. This would work perfect for situations where you want to be notified to ensure that your family members arrived where they were supposed to at a particular time.

For example, let's say that you have a couple of children that arrive home from school at 3:00 PM every day. You can set the Sprint Family Locator to automatically send you a text message with your children's location at 3:00 PM on school days. With this feature, you can rest easy knowing that their children arrived where they were supposed to without any problems. Sprint calls this feature "Safety Checks".

Another very cool thing about the Sprint Family Locator is that you don't have to subscribe to a data plan in order to use it. Most free cell phone tracking software requires that you subscribe to a data plan from your cell phone service provider and this can run your bill up quite high.

If you decide that you want to give Sprint's system to try, you can do it from any computer. You simply log onto the Sprint website and enter your customer account number and with a couple of mouse clicks you'll be all set up.
Some people mistakenly confuse pinging a cell phone with tracking a cell phone with a cell phone locator app. They are very different uses of technology.

Pinging a cell phone is basically just sending a signal to the phone that causes the phone to report what cell phone tower it is nearest to. Based on the location of the cell phone tower, the cell phone company can give you a very rough approximation of the location of the phone.

Since cell phone towers have a coverage area in the shape of a circle, a phone that is pinged and reported to be within the range of that tower could theoretically be anywhere in the circle of coverage for that particular tower.

There is a spin off of cell phone pinging called "triangulation". This basically means that the cell phone is pinged to find out which tower it is nearest. Then it is pinged to find out what is the next closest tower. It is then pinged a third time to find the third closest tower. The distance from each of these towers is judged based on the strength of the signal. This will give an approximate distance that the phone is from each of the towers. A circle is then drawn around each of the towers with the radius of the circle being the estimated distance that the phone is from the tower. The location where the three circles intersect, will be the "approximate" location of the phone.

This is the most common method that law enforcement uses to determine the location of a cell phone. This method will give you an approximate location of a cell phone even if there isn't any cell phone tracking software installed on the phone.

Thanks for popping into my website on GPS phone tracking technology. Before you leave, I have and interesting article on the iPhone 4g that clarifies a lot of confusion about this subject that you might enjoy reading.

How Phone Tracker Apps Determine Your Location

A common question that many people ask about cell phone locator apps is how they actually are able to pinpoint your location so accurately. Well, the degree of accuracy that they are able to perform at really depends on a couple of factors. There are three ways that phone tracker apps are able to track down the location of your cell phone.

The first is through a method called "triangulation". The method works because the cell phone towers are that are nearest to the phone "ping" the phone or send a signal to it to find out approximately how far it is from the tower. Then the system attempts to determine the two other towers that are nearest to the cell phone. Then through a complicated formula, the system can extrapolate the approximate location of the phone. This method is only moderately accurate and the accuracy of this method can vary depending an a number of factors.

The second method cleverly uses the Wi-Fi hot spots that your cell phone pings when it is within range of them to receive a Wi-Fi signal. This method is the least accurate. It is only accurate if the Wi-Fi router has a dedicated IP address. Most Wi-Fi hotspots use what is called "shared IP addresses". You most likely have a shared IP address at your home and you may possibly share the same IP address as someone who lives 100 miles from you. That is why this method isn't very accurate.

The third method is the most accurate and it uses the GPS receiver chip this is in most modern smartphones. This method can be very accurate. The tracking software sends a signal to the phone through the Internet instructing the phone to use it's GPS receiver chip to communicate with a network of up to 12 GPS satellites to determine it's GPS coordinates. These coordinates are the precise latitude and longitude of your phone. The phone then relays those coordinates back through the Internet and to the cell phone tracking website. Those coordinates are then used to display the location of your phone on a map on your computer screen.

There you have it. Now you know a little bit more about the mystery of how cell phone tracker applications are able to pinpoint your location.

The iPhone 4g Release Date

Today I'm going to write about the iPhone 4g. I'm absolutely blown away be the amount of confusion about the iPhone 4g release date. It see that most people think that the new iPhone 4 is a 4g phone. If you are one of these people, I'm sorry to disappoint you but it is not. This new cell phone from Apple is the fourth generation of the ever popular iPhone and 4g technology refers to the fourth generation of cellular wireless data transfer technology but that's where the similarities end.

If you've been confused about this, let me take a minute a clarify a few things for you. First, the iPhone will currently only work on the AT&T network and their network doesn't currently support 4g technology. It is still a 3g system. This means that even if the new version of this cell phone was 4g compatible, it wouldn't work yet because the AT&T network isn't quite up to snuff yet.

Now for the good news. AT&T has announced that their network will be upgraded to be a 4g network sometime in the year 2011. They haven't told us if we can expect to see this upgrade at the beginning of 2011 or the end but they have said that it's coming sometime.

Now for some more bad news. If you are one of the millions of people who rushed out and bought the new iPhone 4, you'll need to buy yet another new iPhone 4g if you want to be able to take advantage of the new faster network. Many people have asked why Apple wouldn't make their latest mobile phone 4g compatible. The answer is really quite simple. They knew that millions of people would buy the iPhone 4 and they also knew that millions more would turn around a buy the new iPhone 4g in a few months when the new network rolls out. They have basically positioned themselves to double their profits selling iPhones for the year.

I for one think this is pretty underhanded but that's Apple for you. Will people boycott the latest Apple cell phone because it's not 4g ready? No way, and Apple knows this all too well. In my opinion, that's why they timed the release of these phones the way they did.

Apple isn't even publicly talking about a 4g version of the ultra popular mobile device yet so there's no word on what the iPhone 4g price will be but I would bet it's going to be their most expensive phone yet because Apple followers will pay whatever Apple asks.

Thanks for visiting my website on cell phone locator technology. Cell phone tracking technology has made huge advancements in the last couple of years. As good as they have become, there are still some limitations.

I'll start by bringing your attention to a couple of things that many people overlook when it comes to phone tracker apps. This is really simple and you wouldn't think that it would need to be mentioned but many people don't actually know this so it's worth bring up. The cell phone must have a tracking app running on the phone in order for phone to be tracked. Some people think that the app will automatically load when it's needed. This is definitely not the case. This isn't really a problem because these apps don't use hardly any resources or battery power. They just stay in a dormant state in your phones memory until they are needed.

The phone must also be turned on and have a charged battery. This means that if you are going to use a cell phone tracker app to find your phone if it is ever lost or stolen, you have a limited window of opportunity. If your battery is almost dead when you lose your phone, you better get to a computer with an Internet connection soon so you can use the tracking app to find your phone before the battery runs out. Once the battery is dead, the phone will turn off and you won't be able to use the software to find your phone.

This technology is most accurate if your phone has a clear line of site to the GPS tracking satellites. Once you go inside a building, your phone won't be able to use the GPS receiver and the tracking app won't either. When you are in a building, the app will attempt to calculate a rough approximation of the location of the phone with a method called "triangulation". Basically this means that the phone will ping the three nearest cell phone towers. The tracking software will then use this data to give you a rough idea of the location of the phone.

If you are inside and you don't have cell phone reception, the cell phone tracking apps won't work at all. If the software that you use has the ability to record location history, you can still use the application to determine the last recorded location before your phone went off line. Even though there are a few limitations to this technology, it still works really well and is worth using.

Don't Let Cell Phone Trackers Turn You Into A Vigilante

An interesting problem has that has arisen because of cell phone locator technology is that many people install these applications onto their phones so that they can find their phone if it ever happens to be stolen. This is a great feature and benefit of a cell phone tracking application but it can present quite a problem. In many cases, people are taking the law into their own hands and tracking down the people who stole their cell phones and confronting them.

For some reason, these individuals feel empowered because they can easily find out who stole their cell phone and they may put themselves into dangerous positions by confronting these individuals themselves. It is very important that if your cell phone happens to be stolen and you are able to use the a phone tracking application to determine where it is, that you call the police and have the police retrieve your phone for you so that you can remain safe.

Just because you have the capability of locating your stolen cell phone this does't mean that you should take the law into your own hands. In most cases, you will end up putting yourself in a very dangerous position by confronting the suspected thief by yourself. You may feel empowered because you know who stole the phone and but it's simply not worth risking your health or life over a silly cell phone.

If your cell phone is actually stolen and you are able to determine its location with the cell phone tracking application, the best thing you can do is call the police and tell them why you know who stole the phone and have them look into it. Keep yourself safe and don't risk your life or limb over something as silly as a cell phone.

If you call the police and tell them that your phone has a tracking application on it, they can come to your house and you can show them on your computer the exact location of the phone. This will give them probable cause to go and interview the person who you believe stole your phone. Your chances of getting your phone back are much greater if you call the police and you don't have to worry about getting hurt in the process.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my article. If you enjoyed it, you might also enjoy learning how to find out who has been calling your house and hanging up by using a reverse cell phone lookup service. I cannot stress enough that this feature should only be used if you have had your phone stolen or you have lost it and you don't feel like there is any possibility of ever retrieving it.

It's important to understand that when you lose your phone or have your phone stolen, there is a critical time period for you to take action. If your phone is ever lost, cell phone tracking applications will only work as long as your battery has power left in it. Once the battery dies, you will not be able to use a cell phone tracking application to find it. You will also not be able to use the security features that come with this kind of software.

This security feature that I'm referring to is called "wipe clean". Not all cell phone tracking applications have this feature. Some of them that do are Find My iPhone and iLocalis. There may be more but I'm not aware of them at this time. If you don't think you'll ever be able to retrieve your phone, you can activate this feature and it will completely erase everything that is on your phone.

Think of this feature as a self destruct button for your cell phone. It will completely erase everything that is on the phone and this action is not reversible. If you find your phone sometime later and want to reverse this action, you are out of luck. It's important that you use this feature cautiously. If you think that you'll be able to find your phone or get it back, you should not use this feature.

The reason that this feature is so important is that many people keep personal sensitive information on their cell phones that could be used to commit the crime of the identity theft against you. By activating the "wipe clean" security feature, your phone will be completely purged of any of your personal information.

Important Info About Cell Phone Tracker Apps

I got an interesting email today from someone who had a question about cell phone tracking. They had installed a cell phone locator application on their phone but said that it wasn't working. When I asked them if they had the application running on their phone when they tried to use the tracking application to locate the phone, their answer was no.

This gave me the idea that a lot of people may not realize that in order for cell phone tracking applications to work, they need to be running on your phone all of the time. If you are worried about these applications running your battery down, you really don't need to worry. Nearly all of these applications that are on the market are designed to run in the background on your cell phone and use very little battery power at all.

It really doesn't make any sense to install a software like this on your cell phone and then not leave it running. Most of these apps are automatically configured to load when you turn your phone on. If you disable the app from running when your phone starts up, you will not be able to use it when you really need it.

If your phone is lost or stolen, and that app isn't running on your phone, you won't be able to use it to locate your phone. Hopefully this has helped some of you if you had the question about whether or not you needed to leave the application running on your phone all the time.

One other thing that is worth mentioning is that these phone tracking apps will only work if the cell phone is turned on and it is in a cell phone service coverage area. If you are at the bottom of a concrete building, the cell phone will not be able to get a signal to the cell phone tower and the GPS receiver in the phone won't be able to use the GPS satellites to calculate its coordinates.

This is another reason to make sure that your battery is always charged. If you happen to misplace or lose your phone, and your battery dies before you get the chance to use the application to locate it, you'll be out of luck.
