padding: 0px;" />وتعتبر الأسنان اللبنية ذات أهمية كبيرة لأنها تؤدي دور كبير في بداية النطق عند الأطفال حيث تشكل مخارج الحروف والألفاظ لديهم وتساعدهم علي النطق السليم. كذلك تساعد الأطفال علي تعلم مضغ الطعام في فترة التحول لتناول الأطعمة العادية. والمعروف أن مضغ الطعام عند الأطفال صغار السن يساعد بشكل كبير علي نمو الفكين والأنسجة المحيطة ويعطي فرصة لنمو الجسم بشكل سليم حيث يستطيع الطفل تناول البروتينات والخضراوات والفواكه دون أن يسبب إجهادا للجهاز الهضمي.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" />والعناية بالأسنان اللبنية ضرورية حتي لا يفقدها الطفل قبل الموعد المحدد لها فلا تؤدي الدور المهم الذي خلقها الله من أجله, كما أن حماية هذه الأسنان في الصغر يجنب الطفل بدرجة كبيرة الحاجة الي تقويم الأسنان في الكبر, حيث أنها تقوم بحفظ وتحديد أماكن الأسنان المستديمة التي تحل محلها بل وترشدها إلي أماكن خروجها فلا تنحرف عن مكان الخروج يمينا اويسارا.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" />ويشير د. عماد إلي أن المحافظة علي الأسنان اللبنية تبدأ من داخل الرحم, حيث يبدأ تكوينها بينما الطفل لا يزال جنينا, لذلك يجب علي الأم أن تهتم أثناء فترة الحمل بتناول الطعام المتوازن الذي يحتوي علي جميع العناصر الغذائية وخصوصا الأطعمة التي تحتوي علي الكالسيوم مثل منتجات الألبان والبيض إذا كانت تريد أن يتمتع طفلها بأسنان لبنية جيدة, فإذا كان لديها مشكلة في تناول مصادر الكالسيوم الطبيعية فلابد أن تتناوله في شكل أدوية, وبعد الولادة لابد أن يستمر إمداد الطفل بالكالسيوم عن طريق الرضاعة المنتظمة, وعندما يكبر الطفل قليلا ويصبح قادرا علي تناول الأطعمة العادية إلي جانب الرضاعة فلابد للأم أن تعطيه الأطعمة التي تحتوي علي نسب عالية من الكالسيوم كالزبادي والبيض, وعندما يكتمل تسنين الطفل وتنبت جميع الأسنان اللبنية بالفم لابد أن تحافظ عليها الأم وتمنع تسوسها بغسلها هي بنفسها للطفل ثم تعوده تدريجيا علي غسلها بنفسه, وأن تحرص علي تناوله للفواكه والخضروات الطازجة بدلا من الحلوي اللزجة التي تسبب تسوس الأسنان. وإذا تناول الطفل مثل هذه الحلوي لابد أن يغسل أسنانه بعدها مباشرة.<br style="margin: 0px;
